[ROM][Nougat][7.0][SM-A9100] Nougat International ROM for Galaxy A9 Pro - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hi!
First, I would like to explain the reason for making this thread. Even though we are getting more help for popular models across the forum, A9 Pro remains something almost untouched. This is true specially for the Chinese varient. So, I decided to accumulate everything to a single thread that I found through some serious hunting across the Internet. The model that I'm using right now is SM-A9100. Hence, the remaining content will be mainly focused on that model.
I bought SM-A9100 outside of China which came Play Store pre-installed. When I tried to run the updater it failed even without connecting to the server. So, there were no OTA updates for me. Later, I screwed up my device after flashing TWRP using Flashify(ADVICE - If you are flashing a custom recovery using a 3rd party app, NEVER reboot to the recovery using the software implementation after flashing. Do it manually using the button combination. Otherwise, you won't be able to boot on to the System).
Later, I downloaded CHC-A9100ZCU1API2-20160909110156 build and flashed via Odin along with TWRP. But, it was full of Chinese rubbish. When I tried to flash SuperSU via TWRP, it aborted the process giving "patching sepolicy failure" message. Then I rooted using Kingroot and replaced Kingroot with SuperSU using a script and Terminal Emulator. That is the way worked for me. Finally, I flashed gapps pico package via TWRP. Later, I could remove most of the Chinese bloat using System App Remover. But, I couldn't find a way to replace Chinese oriented Yellow Pages, Baidu search, Weather app, Web browser and Sohu news etc. So, I was desperately in a need of replacing this Chinese ROM with a compatible International one(Nougat).
At the time of writing, There is no Nougat ROM available for the Chinese varient and no sign of having one in the future either. So, the only option available is flashing a ROM built for A910F.
But, As I was informed, A910F firmware can't be flashed directly on A9100 due to different hardware configuration. I looked for the specifications of the device on GSMArena and spotted no difference until expanding the network bands section. Thats where things are different. The two varients sports different modems I guess. So, flashing a firmware of other varient won't give you a hard brick apart from some expected issues on network reception and connectivity. Some people have tried following builds based on A910F firmware.
A9 Pro Elite ROM
Nougat International ROM for A9100
Common reported issue for both builds is, Back and Recent apps capacitive keys are not working. I would like to give a fix I found for the issue that may work.
Dial *#2663# on your phone app. It will open an app window for firmware update. Just tap on Touch key FW update(Network connection may required).

Since I haven't installed any of those ROM builds, I don't know whether this works. You can try it and report me whether it works.
It may be required to replace the modem firmware of those builds with the one dedicated for the Chinese varient in order to fix the network reception.
Get it from here and flash via Odin or FlashFire(I will show you in detail later).
My opinion : Since both models have Qualcomm chipsets, both should have Qualcomm modems configured for different bands(FDD or TDD) by the modem firmware. Since Qualcomm modem hardware usully supports almost evey LTE band, changing the modem firmware to allign the hardware to some specific bands may not affect your connectivity if your Service provider's band is included in the list. Correct if I'm wrong.
One of those above mentioned builds is based on Vietnamese XXV firmware and the other is based on Indian INS firmware. Even though you can get rid of Chinese by flashing any of those, you are more likely get into another country's bloat. I wanted a more Internationalized firmware. So, my problem is still not solved.
I looked for myself for a better firmware and found that Singapore XSP firmware to be good. There are a few reasons for picking this.
Open firmware and not carrier locked.
Defaut language is English.
Should be less bloated.
Still, I haven't even downloaded this ROM and I'm really looking at your feedback to proceed. I need answers for following questions.
Since I'm migrating from a Chinese ROM, should I need to perform re-partition or nand irase all or both with repair firmware flashing via Odin?
Or
Will a normal flashing via Odin be enough?
By using FlashFire, I can selectively flash only the components I need using the tar.md5 firmware file(i.e : boot, system, modem).
Will this type of flashing be enough to get the full functionality?
Should I need to replace the bootloader as well?
Finally, I need to replace the boot logo(NOT boot animation) of the device with the boot logo of the International version. I was looking for a soft way to do this for a couple of days and didn't find a way. Some people say that the boot logo image is in the kernel and some say in the bootloader and some say in the param partition and so on. I'm totally confused. My boot logo has some Chinese and unlock symbol with the word "custom". When I flashed the firmware last time using Odin, It didn't change the logo.
This is optional. When I enter the download mode, it displays the warning message in Chinese. Is there any way to replace it with the one in International ROM?
I saw in some threads that to do this nand erase all should be performed. Anyway, that is optional.
If you reply to the contents of this thread, please mention the topic you reply on the top of your comment.
Thank you!

There is no Touch key FW update in nougat roms

Are there any updates regarding 7.0 for a9100?? It would be nice for this phone to have at least a bug free rom

If anyone has issues with this Chinese phone you can always install this ROM it is only Android 6 but I've been using it for months and it is 100% working and reliable .

Help debloating my SM-G900W8

Hi, everyone. I just registered here for help with a question that I have about my SM-G900W8. Someone had mentioned there was a remote chance that I might get help from this web site for a Canadian model given that help for the model is rarely ever discussed any place else.
Firstly, it is a Canadian model as everyone likely knows. Thing is I don't live in Canada. I live in the United States. I had ordered an ulocked G900T but received an unlocked G900W8 instead. But it's okay. I like the G900W8. There is no carier logo at bootup or any of that stuff and it works really well for me. I use it on Tracfone since I don't really use a phone all of the time. I just buy some minutes and I'm good for a while. and LTE works well. I'm getting 40 or so mb download speeds when on data.
Anyway. It has never been rooted and it is unlocked.
What I want to do, though, is get rid of all of the Fido stuff that is on it. My Fido account, City Video, Fido Apps and whatnot.
I DON'T want to root it. But I want to get rid of all of that bloat. It's just annoying that it is there and I don't live in Canada and will never use any of those things. I don't have a Fido account nor will I ever. But I'm stuck with this stuff regardless.
I don't know anything about installing stock ROM but I've read that stock ROMs exist for this model.
So, my question is 3 fold. If there exists a stock ROM without all of that Fido stuff that I'll never use that works on it, can I flash it onto my device (which I need to learn how to do), and if I do that will it still receive regular manufacturer and operating system updates? I don't even know if it will receive updates anyway given that I'm in the United States and the phone has a Canadian CSC code. As it is, it is 5.1.1 now. It came that way.
Device: Samsung Galaxy S5
Model number: SM-G900W8
Android version: 5.1.1 (Lollipop OS)
Baseband version G900W8VLU1COI4
Kernel version: 3.4.0-5793883
Build number: LMY47X.G900W8VLU1COI4
Build date: September 11,2015
Release date: October 14,2015
Also, will flashing relock my phone? I don't want to relock it.
I just want to get rid of the bloat that I'll never use. I couldn't use it even if I wanted. I also don't want to relock it and I want it to be able to receive regular updates.
I'm willing to learn what I can to accomplish it if it is possible.
Thanks for any help.
Have a look on sammobile. com firmware section, search for G900W8
See if there is an unbranded (Carrier free) ROM, for example, for my G900F, the 'BTU' United Kingdom ROM is unbranded
You will receive OTA updates as normal, and it should not affect the SIM lock status
You flash the ROM using ODIN, the instructions on how to flash, and download for ODIN are under the download on sammobiles site
You need a free account to download
Or, a faster method, find out the code for the ROM you want, and use this tool to download it

Thank you for feedback. I did actually look at Samsmobile for this device but I couldn't determine which was unbranded and which was not. There were also some that were simply labeled as "unknown". I was afraid I'd download the wrong thing.
I did see that other thread with regard to the tool that was created prior to asking my question here. Thank yo ufor sharing that. Thing is that the op has 4 zip files with no instructions about which zip is which or what they are individually or if I have to download a specific one or all of them. For someone like me with no experience with this kind of thing, I'm literally guessing at what the tool creator is telling me to do with his zip files. I have no idea what the difference is between the 4 zip files.
I'm glad to know that in attempting it that it won't lock my phone again or impede updates OTA. Thanks for verifying that.
I'll reserve time to read and learn how to flash firmware/ROM in the meantime, though. Thank for the link that will explain it to me.
The highest numbered zip is the latest version
0.3.4
As long as you flash a ROM for your model S5 (G900W8) you shouldn't run into any problems regardless of which carrier it is from (Just different bloat really)
If you can't find an unbranded ROM, the only other method is to root, or flash custom recovery and flash a debloat script
There will be certain carrier apps that you can freeze without root I would imagine, by going to settings > application manager, and "Disable" the ones that let you
Understood. Thank You.
I'm going to first learn how to flash firmware. Once I'm comfortable that I can do it without messing things up, I'll use the tool that was provided and shared by the author and report back.

I have a at&t s5 that can not be rooted unfortunately, I searched around and found this debloater tool which did exactly what I (and you) wanted. It cant really delete any of the bloatware (because no supersu), but rather disables it from even showing up. It mad a HUGE difference for me and makes not having a root pretty livable. Anyway here's a link to the tool.

[PLK-UL00] Official ROM B352

Hello
I've managed to download an update for B201 to MM B352, using a Chinese proxy.
If anyone wants to play with it, just download it from here:
https://mega.nz/#!wwMTFTjS!1z9xygbiNTO66_zkwxOHtw9SLI_EQVTRzUZU-kh2BSo
Save it on internal storage or SD and go to Settings -> Updater -> Menu -> Local Update to apply it.
This is *not* an update to be applied using TWRP or 3btn method.
When I installed it my phone was using stock recovery, bootloader was unlocked and it was not rooted.
After installing it everything works fine, TWRP works fine, but it will stop working after installing SuperSU.
Not sure why.
So, right now, I'm back to Lollipop B201, which is geat.
UPDATE: using SYSTEMLESS install for SuperSU I was able to install it.
Now I have everything working, including notifications.
Regards.

Yes, I have the same problem, but after installing SuperSU
You have to use fastboot mode and run multi-tool unbrick method.
I have stock rom, with stock recovery. How can i do? How can put the Phone in fastboot mode?
i'm still blocked from that day. with a phone that doesn't go in fastboot and remain with the honor logo.
but a full firmware of marschmallow?
Is this *REALLY* meant for UL-00?
Hi there
Efforts much appreciated mate ...
Looking at all the bootlooped replies - is this firmware *really* meant for the PLK UL-00 (India version)?
OTA doesn't show any B352; nor does the official websites... B341 seems to be the latest firmware for the Indian variant.
So .... Just wondering - is it some typo ? Is this meant for some other variant of Honor 7 ? CL-00 maybe? ... Even the older B201 you have mentioned in the OP - isn't among the firmware builds that the Indian UL-00 has come through... i think.
--
Would be nice to see some changelog or a screenshot or something

If it is a typo error, please do change it in the title.
Hi
There are two variants of version UL00, C17 from China and C675 from India.
I have the one from China, it's dual SIM.

Hey I have got the Indian Version B341. I just wanted to share a problem that I am facing.
My phone is slow charging due to update perhaps. Earlier the phone used to charge really fast now it takes more than 2 hours and sometimes even close to 3 hours.
I have tried Hardware Reset but was not of much help.
Has anyone solved this problem. Btw I am using 5V2A charger, supplied with the device, which took very little time to charge earlier. And also when the phone is switched off it charges really fast but the phone heats up a lot.

Right...
The firmware in the phones we got (the single SIM Indian variant of UL00) does indeed say C675 - I just checked after your screen shot.
Thanks

So, i am still wondering - is this firmware gonna brick the C675 single sim variant?
Replace PLK-UL00 Chinees version with PLK-L01 EU version
Hi,
did anyone try to replace the PLK-UL00 Chinese version with PLK-L01 EU version, is this possible without bricking the phone ?
I have rooted my PLK-UL00C17 (Dual SIM) with TWRP 3.0.2.0 Recovery for PLANK, running build PLK-UL00_6.5.16 from 1 May 2016, Titanium Backup and SuperSU Free v2.62
I tried to get rid of the Chinese stuff, but no luck, it keeps popping up everywhere.
So is it possible to replace the Chinese firmware / ROM with the EU firmware / ROM ?
Thanks,
This update bootlooped my phone and now I can't fix it.. £200 paperweight now

ZE601KL CN to WW or working Google Services/Apps etc

Hello all
I've read loads of articles but can't seem to get a straight answer or find the relevant boot/recovery img
Is there a way to flash WW (specifically the latest official WW_V1.16.40.1524) firmware to replace CN on a ZE601KL.
If not is there a method to flash working Gapps. Failing that I might be convinced to go with Custom ROM.
If anyone was successful with any of the above on the ZE601KL CN version please let me know and point me to any files i would need, would be much appreciated.
I've been sent the CN version of the ZE601KL which had Google services working but the phone kept turning off/not booting so I flashed the latest FW CN_V1.16.40.1338
I'm a bit hesitant at the moment to experiment too much and I quite like the current CN firmware, camera is much improved from the original FW installed just no Gapps. Bought the phone from Gearbest who did refund me $100 and I got to keep the phone for the inconvenience so at the moment a working phone is better than a bricked one.
Many Thanks

Thanks Luca I'll have a look but on ithe CyanogenMod site it states teZE601KL is not supported but I might just take that gamble.
To paparas64, I updated the FW since mine would shut down for no reason. this still happens but not as often.
If yours doe not switch off automatically don't update FW this voids warranty even with official rom. They have somehow loaded google to work on the FW provided. I'm not sure they stand a chance legally on the warranty issue or the fact they seem to have modded the FW or sideloaded gapps. They offered a few options but to keep the phone with $100 back was less effort than returning to China hoping a fix may become available

Anyone?
It should be as (simple) as..
Rooting your phone -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039 (this won't trip KNOX)
Downloading the proper firmware from SamMobile -> https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930U/
Flash the firmware via odin (you can use the same method found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065)
Profit
I just did this recently to switch from SM-G930R4 to SM-G930V
Note, you will lose all data on the phone if you try this.

Go to Updato.com and get the newest SM-930U firmware from January and flash via Odin. The 930U firmware you flash must have a bootloader the as or newer than your current firmware or it will not boot. You do not have to root to update via Odin.

Thanks. I actually already got this done. The problem is I was using the CSC HOME file instead of the Other one. Thank for the reply tho! Maybe it will help someone else!
Just curious what the benefits of converting your Verizon phone to the U version is?

Less boat , no Verizon boot animation, and my favorite the spam dialer Verizon thought was a good idea to remove. I like to think of the U as pure Samsung vs the Verizon gimped software.

Is the bootloader unlocked? Is there any down side? LTE performance etc? Can this still be done if I loaded the Nougat beta on my G930V? Thanks in advance.

Bootloader is locked because it is a snapdragon variant. Only downside is can think is you would have to pay your bill in store or on a PC. Lte seems the same. Yes if nougat is on. You just load up the most recent U firmware and flash over nougat in odin.

it shoudl be simple...but it failed for me in one of my two phones. now it keeps going to recovery (downloading the original firmware to reflash it). the one that worked was a SMG930VZDA (made in vietnam) while the one that didn't is a SMG930VZKA (made in korea). I hadn't updated either one from the original firmware, but not sure what firmware they came with....
so if it works, it's great, but if it fails...
I used the instructions and file in

You can still use the My Verizon app to pay, if you want to. You do lose Verizon's native VVM app, but there are workarounds to use Voice or another third-party VVM app (I personally use YouMail).

Hey your right! One less hassle.
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new g930r4 (US Cellular) because my last samsung got stolen. Anyway, the first time I turned on the phone, I started having multiple issues (kept rebooting, unable to recognize headset, kept freezing). Then I decided to change it to the g930U firmware and I noticed a HUGE difference. I totally recommend this to anybody that has same problems I mentioned. Thanks to all the information from this post, I was able to successfully flash the firmware. Thank you all for the support! I hope this helps someone out there whos still got some doubts.
Hello, I have the SM-G930V Snapdragon variant in the US and I would really like to root it to get a custom ROM. If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate a reply (if you have one) to this thread I made on the topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7/help/questions-bootloader-rooting-custom-t3721109

Just search around the forums, they have a few guides. I would suggest looking at the att and Verizon forums for the s7 edge. The roms are interchangeable

My phone is G935T and I flashed G935U.
There is no auto upgrade, so it is a bit tedious every time there is new firmware out, manually has to flash, but otherwise it is VERY lean on included applications and also IMHO is lighter on battery usage.
That said, just get the ODIN and both firmwares (G935T firmware as well as G935U firmware).
Then, use ODIN to flash the CP file from G935T firmware and rest of the files from G935U firmware.
Enjoy.

Did you flash the U firmware with CP file from T like I did? (Which is preferred since I am still using the phone on T-mobile network)
Whenever I press "check for update", I always get "you have latest" message even when I KNOW there is new one out there.
Perhaps if ALL firmware files are from "U" firmware, maybe it will do auto update (or prompt you for update).

In order to update, you must have all files from the same update. So running the tmobile radio is why it won't update you.

I can confirm this does work. I just installed the 935U software on my tmobile s7 edge and am now using the phone on Page Plus service. Everything is working great for over 24 hours now.
Hello,
I would like to update my S7 edge G935T to G935U.
THE ONLY PROBLEM is that it is the only phone I have and that I use so I am afraid of blocking it by making its so is it 100% safe to do so? AND can I have a guide?
yeah its safe until you do it properly.
Use Odin Latest version.
Turn Phone into download mode.
connect to pc using Odin.
Add required files into Odin and hit start. Thats it.
i just updated my T mobile G935T to G935U now and its working fine.
here is download link for firmware.

can you share the download link.
I found a list of firmwares here https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s7-edge/firmware/#SM-G935U
Not sure which one is the right one
Just Flashed Latest G935U firmware on my G935T.
Got rid of that Tmobile logo and bloatwares. Everything is working awesome. Faster than ever.
Steps I followed:
Downloaded Latest G935U firmware from Samfrew with TMO CSC.
Flashed AP, CP, CSC (not BL).
Device rebooted and performed a factory reset. Set CSC according to my simcard and finally booted in no time.
All of these took around 15 minutes.
PS
My device was on latest G935T firmware before.
Its carrier unlocked.
