I have tried multiple zips to try to get the U software on my phone but always ends up not booting. It will show galaxy S7 and then boot straight back into recovery.
Can someone please provide a link to the exact download files I need. Sorry to start a thread over this. I'm just having a hard time finding the correct files. Thanks in advanced.

Anyone?

It should be as (simple) as..
Rooting your phone -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039 (this won't trip KNOX)
Downloading the proper firmware from SamMobile -> https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930U/
Flash the firmware via odin (you can use the same method found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065)
Profit
I just did this recently to switch from SM-G930R4 to SM-G930V
Note, you will lose all data on the phone if you try this.

Go to Updato.com and get the newest SM-930U firmware from January and flash via Odin. The 930U firmware you flash must have a bootloader the as or newer than your current firmware or it will not boot. You do not have to root to update via Odin.

Thanks. I actually already got this done. The problem is I was using the CSC HOME file instead of the Other one. Thank for the reply tho! Maybe it will help someone else!

Just curious what the benefits of converting your Verizon phone to the U version is?

Less boat , no Verizon boot animation, and my favorite the spam dialer Verizon thought was a good idea to remove. I like to think of the U as pure Samsung vs the Verizon gimped software.

Is the bootloader unlocked? Is there any down side? LTE performance etc? Can this still be done if I loaded the Nougat beta on my G930V? Thanks in advance.

Bootloader is locked because it is a snapdragon variant. Only downside is can think is you would have to pay your bill in store or on a PC. Lte seems the same. Yes if nougat is on. You just load up the most recent U firmware and flash over nougat in odin.

it shoudl be simple...but it failed for me in one of my two phones. now it keeps going to recovery (downloading the original firmware to reflash it). the one that worked was a SMG930VZDA (made in vietnam) while the one that didn't is a SMG930VZKA (made in korea). I hadn't updated either one from the original firmware, but not sure what firmware they came with....
so if it works, it's great, but if it fails...
I used the instructions and file in

You can still use the My Verizon app to pay, if you want to. You do lose Verizon's native VVM app, but there are workarounds to use Voice or another third-party VVM app (I personally use YouMail).

Hey your right! One less hassle.

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new g930r4 (US Cellular) because my last samsung got stolen. Anyway, the first time I turned on the phone, I started having multiple issues (kept rebooting, unable to recognize headset, kept freezing). Then I decided to change it to the g930U firmware and I noticed a HUGE difference. I totally recommend this to anybody that has same problems I mentioned. Thanks to all the information from this post, I was able to successfully flash the firmware. Thank you all for the support! I hope this helps someone out there whos still got some doubts.

Hello, I have the SM-G930V Snapdragon variant in the US and I would really like to root it to get a custom ROM. If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate a reply (if you have one) to this thread I made on the topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7/help/questions-bootloader-rooting-custom-t3721109

Forget everything apart from download mode, everything else can be modified, even that Samsung INFO app will lie if firmware has been modified etc
Always trust download mode, your phone is the G900V if that's what download mode says

Thanks for the reply. So since I obviously received a modified phone I am not getting any marshmallow update. Would I be able to flash a stock G900V or G900F 6.0.1 ROM from SamMobile without losing my phone data?

Even when everything has been already modded, including changing CSC (as I did), the information provided by "Samsung INFO" at "CSC CODE -> Product Code" is kept valid as your original CSC.
That's the exact information the user need to accomplish his demand.
Nice regards.

Yea, that's gonna be nice and easy for a member who doesn't know what to trust, or where to look, or which numbers mean what, come on, use your head, do you realise how many model numbers it would likely say in that app if the firmware has already been modified to say G900F?
Download mode is nice and easy for all to remember and doesn't require installing 3rd party apps, not to mention, OP already stated it says G900V in download mode, and I would have thought someone as high and mighty as yourself would have already known that download mode is always correct, no?
No need to reply, bit sick of your condescending attitude, you should know better, especially at 53 years old, Kido

G900V on Verizon?
You could try grabbing a stock ROM from sammobile .com or use the samfirm tool here on XDA, not sure how much success you'll have, Verizon lock their bootloaders, but worth a shot checking this thread if you can't manage it

I appreciate your reply. So here's the deal. I bought this from eBay thinking it was gonna be an unlocked G900A to use with cricket. I then realized it was modified and by that time the seller wouldn't do anything about it. So you're saying that even though the G900F and G900V have the same specs, I can't install the marshmallow firmware? Also, if I received a modified phone, wouldn't the bootloader already be unlocked?

The problem is the bootloader, stock ROMs have different BLs for each model, so for example, (iirc) the G900T is more or less identical to the G900F, but the bootloaders and modems are different, meaning you can not flash the stock ROM of one to another, but, if you mod the ROM to be flashable in custom recovery such as TWRP, then without the BL or Modem present in the ROM, it will flash, and will work perfectly
I had the G900T 5.1.1 running on my G900F when we were still stuck on 5.0
But it was modded for TWRP
As for whether or not your phones bootloader is unlocked, you'd have to try flashing something that needs an unlocked BL, an earlier stock ROM for example (Or check that BL unlock thread, see if there is a test)
Chances are the phone was either rooted, and the build.prop edited to change the settings about info to G900F, or there's another trick I don't know about yet that they use to push modded firmware onto non G900F phones
See it a lot here, loads of people with non G900F getting ripped off by sellers changing the model number or firmware to say G900F, but you can't change Download mode, which is why we always say to trust that
Personally, I would flash a stock G900V 6.0.1 firmware to it (Available on sammobile .com / samfirm tool) (or give flashing TWRP a shot, then you have custom ROMs to play with, but I'd check the BL status first if you can, don't want to cause a brick)

Sm-g935u for t-mobile

Hi
Has anyone tired SM-G935U for T-Mobile does wifi calling works, and video calling.
I gave it a go yesterday. I would not recommend it. It seems like it is causing issues, if you follow the thread on it. Also if you are on the July 1st security patch (the update that came out on 07/08/2016) then trying to flash the G935U firmware will softbrick your device. Either way the best way to get back to stock is to use Smart Switch and re-initialize the phone. You will lose all of your internal data either way.

SM-G935T is on v3 while SM-G935u is on v2 which is causing the softbrick .
Have anyone tried this recently? as of October 1st? Reports on the AT&T forum seem to suggest that it's working now.
where is the link at for the new G935U UPDATE FOR TMO
this is encouraging please keep us informed of any progress
I have the SM-G935U Olympic edition running on T-Mobile with the latest firmware PG9, Aug. 1st patch and I can see LTE+ every now and then. I do also see the option for WIFI-Calling and VOLTE. I can not verify if they worked properly but the options are there. Im not rooted because I still want Samsung Pay for now. ROM seems fast and good battery life and no T-Mobile BLOAT I was able to uninstall (yes uninstalled not disable) even the samsung email app and samsung+.

It looks like the bootloader for the Unbranded version has increased. This should allow us to switch from T-mobile to U since they are now both at 4.
If you follow the release of older firmware it coincides with new bootloader revisions. If so then the AT&T, T-mobile and Unbranded version are all now at bootloader 4 which allows us to flash any one of them.
For example, if you look at the history of firmware releases for the T-mobile variant, you'll note the number has changed when the bootloader has been updated.

Switching to G935U firmware for good?

I was recently thinking to myself to flash Samsung's international firmware on my G935V. The phone's battery is terrible even in airplane mode and I think going to a non bloated ROM would be generally better. I did once have the international firmware but my phones screen started going weird and I flashed it back to the original. Of course it turned out to be a hardware issue and I got it replaced under warranty. Because this happened a day after I flashed the international firmware, I'm scared something similar might happen again. Do any of you guys run the international firmware on a daily basis on your Verizon edges? I was just wondering if it will be practical at all. Also for the one day I had the international firmware, the battery was definitely better without Verizon's crap on it. What do you guys think?
Been on the u firmware for a long time and I love it. However... If you're on Verizons most recent ota your bootloader is version 4 and you won't be able to flash the u firmware with out rooting it.

So what would happen if I tried flashing it through Odin like the old way?
Being on the U firmware the first time was great, but over time it's degraded for new. I'm only getting up to 2 hours of SOT by 50%, as opposed to 3. Not rooted either.
I'm thinking of going to do the PG5 Verizon firmware to see how things are.
Unfortunately it won't flash. The new bootloader will block what would potentionally be an older revision or a downgrade. Currently the u firmware bootloader is Rev. 2. Verizon managed to jump to Rev. 4 with its last update potentially screwing all stock users out of using a stock unlocked debloated firmware with free tethering.

I just flashed the new 935U version this morning to my verizon variant. I was getting sub-par battery life on the verizon software so I am going to try this out for a bit. Keeping it unrooted the only thing I can't install is verizon visual voicemail. I have voLTE working but there is no option for wifi or video calling as with the verizon version. Seems to be much faster overall though.
Been using U firmware since June and no issues. Have already gone through 2 updates on U without problems.

How do you know if the VoLTE is working? I installed the latest 935U firmware and i never saw the VoLTE option. I saw it only when i flashed the "Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR" via ODIN when i was trying to root. I also want to keep the latest 935U firmware and as far as possible avoid root.
I have the toggle in settings and confirmed it by placing a call.

T-Mobile Firmware for AT&T

Hi guys,
I wanted to make sure if this version is compatible with my AT&T S7 edge (SM-G935A)
Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/odin-apk1-tmobile-tmbg935ttmb4apk1-t3494724
Can you guys tell me if this works fine on the att phone? I have bootloader version 2. I'm getting tired of the ATT version that blocks the cool features (e.g. Identify unsaved callers)
Also, can you guys tell me which version of Odin works best with this firmware (don't want to get fail and brick my phone)
I hate to say this, but I think my phone stopped receiving updates from ATT (because I don't want to keep changing my sim card, my sim card is T-Mobile(Metro) and I read the threads that said that in order to update they have to put the ATT sim card. I don't want to do that since my sim card keep coming out of the card (atleast I got in the tray and works)
Anyways, can someone confirm this is compatible with the firmware?
Thanks

Yes you should be fine. I did use this particular on my 935a ATT S7 Edge. Only thing that did not work on my behalf was Wifi Calling. Since you have a TMobile sim in an ATT phone it could work. The Odin I used was Prince's Odin in the Root thread.

Thanks! Well, first of all, my bootloader version is 2. Should I download the T-Mobile firmware bootloader v2 or the latest one(v4)?
One question, whats the difference between home_csc and csc? Is it wiping data? Does using home_csc works with it? If not, I am fine to try csc version.
Honestly I have to check when I get home. Currently at work still. With bootloader you can always upgrade but you can NEVER downgrade. It would result in a fail.

Okay, what do you think firmware is better? 935U or 935T? Do I have to enable OEM unlock? Do I have to turn on startup secure?

The Odin I used was Prince's Odin in the Root thread.

Yes! It works! Wi-Fi calling works too! No problem with everything. I see slightly improvements on speed. No problems at all.

It works because it uses T-Mobile SIM (Metro) and I have experienced Wi-Fi Calling on my different phones.

root PK1 on sprint available?

I've been out of the game for a while and now I feel all stupid and ****. I've been searching the forums to root the new s7 we got last night but all I'm seeing is it must be on PE1. I haven't found anything about rooting a PK1. Can it be done? Have I just overlooked it? I tried to root using SM-G930P Root - Updated 10/25/2016 but I can't get the downloads to work. Every time I click the the blue download button, I get stuck in a spam/ads pop up loop. So I gave up and went looking for more info on rooting the PK1. Thanks guys!
I am also looking for this information as I recently purchased this model. The forums seem to suggest that you need to begin on the PE1 firmware, but information is unclear on whether a downgrade is possible.

You can downgrade to PJ2 but nothing before that. PJ2 is rootable, however you will lose voice and SMS.

Well that would make for a pretty useless smartphone...
I haven't yet put a SIM card in in it. I assume that doesn't make a difference? I saw the below, but wasn't sure if you could avoid the phone and text issue by not putting the SIM card in for the first time until AFTER it's rooted:

You can not root your Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 on PJ2! If you try to do it on PJ2 you will not be able to get your sms and cell service to activate on the new updated PRL's that are included in the PJ2 update.

Someone who has solved?
can't downgrade firmware
I've been trying to root this phone (SM-G930P) for about 2 months now. Unfortunately I accepted an ota to what I believe was the PJ2 firmware shortly after getting it. Now I'm on PK1. I tried multiple times to downgrade to PE1 without any success. I believe it's a bootloader issue. I've successfully rooted the g935a for a coworker without a problem and was hoping this one could be rooted using the same method just flashing a different Eng Boot image of course. But samsung is not providing us a way to unlock the boatloader, which is basically like selling someone a car with the hood locked and even though they now own it legally, telling them they're not allowed to modify or even touch the engine.
Guess I'll just have to wait until someone finds a working method or I get fed up and switch to a Google or HTC device...
on t-mobile pk1 root works

Nope it says something like system has been modified in unauthorized ways and kicks you off the app.

Is it a stable root? There's no problems right? I've rooted every android I've had except my S7 because of the bootloader. What other things does it disable other than the Samsung pay?

Just got an update to PL6. Any clue if this method would work?
Most roots released for the devices are "sboots" and are not meant to be used daily..
many roots for these devices are for unlocking/frp removal uses

Depending on what firmware you're on, it's a stable root. If you're on bootloader 3 and on APE 1 then it's fine, but bootloader 4 is difficult to root and not have issues. When rooting you obviously lose access to apps that don't allow rooted devices to use it such as snapchat, pokemon go, samsung pay, etc, etc.....

I was on PK1 tried rooting it, worked, but didn't have data and I tried everything I could find. Decided to not root it and update to PL6 lol. I spent hours trying to root this phone, most difficult one I've done.

I am right there with you !!!! I have been working so hard to try to figure out why after the flash of their Engineering Boot file, that my mobile data network options disapear and i cannot get on a mobile network. Ive even paid for the app to unlock the device and it still will not let me turn it on. The options are completely gone. If anyone has any idea why this is happening or how to fix it, please let me know! I am still waiting for idoneapps to respond to this issue.

Damn, that sucks, did you get a refund? and yeah it always happens right after the Engineering boot file. Somehow my data was activated like the 6th time I rooted the phone, I'm pretty sure it was the lines I changed on Build.prop but the calls were not working.
Not yet. Still waiting to see what they say. Did you get it to finally work?
