AT&T s8 are there roms available? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

Sorry if this seems dumb. So the AT&T is a950A? When i look at the s8 forum it's showing alot of activity but i don't necessarily see anything specific to our device model number. Do most roms cover all varients? Again sorry but I'm way more confused by this then I should be. Any insght would be appreciate.

The att S8 has a locked bootloader, there's no roms for it. The only roms are for the international 950F that has an unlocked bootloader.

Thanks for the clarification. So rooting the att s8 is only for..?
Mods? Xposed? Some kind of backup program (titanium)? Or ?
Thanks in advance for any insights

Basically. It's nothing like it used to be. I haven't rooted since my S5. Really no need anymore since ROMs aren't an option. Just little tweaks

Note I vs Note III ATT Should I?

I have the International Original N7000 Note. It is unlocked and I have used it on ATT since it came out. I'm rooted and have Rocket ROM on it
Since it was always my phone, I never worried about ATT giving me a hard time about it being Rooted.
But I am thinking of upgrading to the new Note 3 from ATT.
I'm sure ROMs will be developed for it.
What are the pitfalls with ATT if I root the phone? Other than they wouldn't support it if I bricked it.
Will they Brick it with an Update?
Will they detect it is rooted and give me a hard time?
Looks pretty sharp and I can sell my Unlocked International note for some pretty good change still. But I know I'll want to root the phone.
The AT&T boot loader is locked. It will need to be cracked before a custom ROM is possible, and the S4 hasn't been cracked since the original vulnerability was "fixed" .
You may be out of luck with AT&T.

Hmmm, so none of the ATT branded notes could be rooted?
I'll have to look into some other LTE version perhaps.

They may sell the international version, but I don't know if that's unlocked/ rooted. Keep in mind, carrier unlocked isn't the same. e as bootloader unlocked

I see on youtube about Custom ROMs being loaded on ATT Note I and II.
So I'm trying to figure out what you guys are talking about here.

A simple question about the s5

I have a simple question for all you Galaxy S5 owners. I am a current owner of the Galaxy Note 2 for AT&T.
I am an AT&T customer, and I am seriously considering buying myself the Unlocked version of the S5.
I can either get the unlocked S5 or the Note 3 NEO.
But in the xda forums, the note 3 neo is practically empty, however, the S5 is promising.
I see few roms with WORK IN PROGRESS status.
Im pretty sure its just a matter of time (and not that much time) that the S5 will have some nice stable official roms by OmniROM, CM, etc...
My questions is this.
mayb I hvent looked ahrd enough, but what can I do with an unlocked S5?
I know I can root it and stuff, does anybody have an S5 and have Xposed Settings modules setup like GravityBox or something?
Or are tehre any nice AOSP roms available that are stable with working cameras and etc??
I just want to know whats up before I spend this money on an S5.
All your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
For now I stick with tw roms cause they are stable. You might wanna check AllianceRom out! Xposed is working fine in my use. Alltho Alliance has most of gravity boxes features allready..Hope this helps even a little bit

Most carriers do not lock their bootloaders. ATT is a notable exception and does lock their S5 bootloader. This means that you cannot use a custom kernel, recovery or ROM in the normal manner. Nor was the ATT model rooted until long after other variants were.
Custom ROMs and recovery need to be emulated with Safestrap on ATT due to the locked bootloader. There is an Developer model that has an unlocked bootloader, but Samsung has a poor record of timely firmware updates for Developer phones making it a questionable tradeoff.
Unless the appeal of a phone subsidy is inescapable for you, you'd do far better to buy the TMobile S5 which has an unlocked bootloader and a thriving Development and custom ROM community. It works just fine on ATT, supports all of the ATT bands + a few that the ATT variant doesn't. Which is an additional advantage for roaming.

Earlier this year for about a month I had an S4 without knowing that there was hardly anything I could do with it. I had the verizon version of the S4. This is the first time I fully made use of Xposed and, boy did Xposed do its job!
It actually made touchwiz very pleasant for me to use.. I probably wouldnt mind sticking with touchwiz + xposed and waiting until theres a nice stable omniropm available for the S5 heh=)
thank you guys!

Your intent here is unclear and incorporates several assumptions. First, clarify what you intend to buy, then we can characterize it.
There are a dozen S5 variants. Which specific model are you referring to? Or at least narrow it down by telling us which carrier you plan to buy it from? You want to buy which unlocked version? From who?

Details are everything. You should know that not all S5 models will work well on ATT. Different S5 variants use different sets of frequency bands.
Could be great. Could be something else entirely.

Short answer.
No, no, yes.
Longer answer.
The S7 edge has a locked bootloader so getting another OS is not possible as with just about all the Samsung phones.
No need to get another phone as there is a way to root your phone with the eng.img way. I am not that familar with the Exynos phones, but I have seen more choices for those than with the Qualcomm phones.
If you don't want to root your phone, you can install the U version of the OS to get rid of the bloatware.
Hope this helps.

Not for sure what you mean by "changing my version to the US version" but if you mean to the U version of the Samsung S7 Edge, then heres the link to how to install the U firmware for your phone. You have the Qualcomm version of the processor, correct?

Any possibilities with bootloader v3

As the title says, I should have read more into the dev community about this phone but I currently have a G950U with bootloader v3. Is there any possibility of any custom roms or rooting for this variant. Otherwise I am planning to return it.
Thanks in advance.
