Moto X Play - How to Change Software Status From Modified To Official - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can you Guys Please Tell Me How To Change Software Status From Modified to Official
I Had Rooted My Device, Unlocked Bootloader and Custom Recovery But Never Installed Ant Custom ROM's
So, When The Official Nougat Update Came, I unrooted my device and installed stock recovery
What else do i need to do? Please Help

U need to flash whole firmware, then software status will change to official.

Flashing a stock firmware didnt change mine from modified to ofiicial... but what i found is that you have to flash a stock rom and then update the rom via OTA... here you have to flash a stock rom which already has an ota update... for example the stock rom is "1" and already has an ota update ie "2", then you have to flash "1" first through fastboot/rsd and then update to "2" via ota... it should change from modified to official...

OTA through custom recovery?

Can we get OTA updates through custom recovery in such a method?
Get OTA files from an unrooted S5 when it's ready to OTA and flash it to a rooted S5 through the custom recovery?
Is there a way to get the OTA files?
I have a rooted S5 and I just used Kies and it installed the update with no data loss for me ******still back it up***** Then I just reinstalled a custom recovery and SuperSU binaries to root.
I think you cant since stock rom OTA needs a stock recovery
Not only a stock recovery but also unrooting the phone.
Samsung OTA must do a rom check is quite annoying, while Huawei's OTA does not check whether you rom is modified but the files to be updated.

5.1 OTA upgrade error

I am on 5.0.1 rooted with stock ROM and stock kernel. I recently got 5.1 upgrade notification.
After downloading the data and restarting the phone, it started installing updates and after a while it showed "error" and stopped.
Now I m on 5.0.1 with no 5.1 upgrade notice.
What is wrong and what should I do for this?
Thank you.
Do I need to unroot? I am on stock kernel and ROM.

Yes, you need to unroot before you can apply the OTA upgrade. Look for the Nexus Root Toolkit, and it should be able to clean up for you.
But prior I didn't need to unroot to upgrade anytime! To upgrade JB to KK or KK to LP, I didn't unroot before installation.
you need stock recovery to update via OTA
Yeah I was on pure stock. Stock ROM kernel and recovery.
Btw, I unrooted my phone with simply unroot and then OTA update went well.
So now I am on stock 5.1 unrooted.
Thank u all.
i have troubles as well. i unrooted, installed stock recovery (via n4 toolkit) and tryed to install. it takes longer then before but i stell get an error. SuperSU is gone in my app drawer.. any other help?
PS: i am on stock rom 5.0.1
i tryed to use sideload ADB update. it says: "/system/bin/app_process32" has unexpected contents. Error in sideload/package.zip. Status 7
any tipps?

and the recovery which was extracted from the OTA is here. Please correct me if I am wrong cos I guess flashing this recovery will enable us to receive OTA updates in the future.

Hii, friends,
Is it possible to use the stock recovery 1.90.709.3 instead of 1.90.707.3 ??
If no, where can I find the stock recovery 1.90.707.3 ?
My phone bought from Malasia (but "Made is Taiwan" printed on the box) Model is HTC One M9 Plus...mid is: 0PK71000 and cid HTC__044
I'm afraid I flashed unsuitable twrp to my phone (TWRP 3.0.0-0 hima.img) and phone is stuck on the recovery mode at each time. This is why I think, I have to flash stock recovery again then flash the the uppropriate twrp.(If I find )
If some one help me I'll be appreciated

How to revert back to the stock firmware?

Hi All,
A couple of days back, I installed custom ROM (Recreated Remix Leopard) successfully on Zenfone 5. I was on the stock lollipop 3.24.40.87 firmware before that. I rooted, unlocked Bootloader and installed TWRP recovery on the stock ROM and I also took a nandroid backup. After using the custom ROM, I decided to go back to the stock ROM. I used the nandroid backup for restoring and got the stock ROM. But, now I want to go back to the stock Kitkat ROM (as the lollipop sucks) and I also don't want the custom recovery or anything. In short, I want to revert my phone to the real factory condition.
I tried to go back to Kitkat by the ASUS official method. But that didn't work. Then I tried to re-lock the Bootloader with the tool from which I unlocked it. But when I did that, I got stuck on the USB logo screen. So, I unlocked it again with the same tool and the phone starts normally. So, how do I get back now?
What would happen if I flash the stock ROM via TWRP? Will it remove the custom recovery and lock the Bootloader?
I read a couple of articles, a few of them suggested to install the stock ROM with the official ASUS method (copy the files in internal storage and the phone will notify to install the update). The article even says that by this method any custom modifications (recovery, root, Bootloader) will be deleted. Is it true or will this work?
Thanks in advance!

Link rom WW 3.24.40.87 modded, flash via TWRP: drive.google.com/open?id=0B7Py5ad2aHwKMHRsZ1NJM0tfLTQ
If you flash this rom, it will not remove the custom recovery + lock the Bootloader
If you having a problem while flashing this rom, you need to flash stock recovery 2.22.40.54, after that you can sideload stock rom via ADB
Sorry for my bad english ^^

Hi, thank you for the reply
You said WW 3.24.40.87 modded, do you mean that this rom is not the official one? Does it improves the battery life and other bugs of the stock rom?
I really appreciate your help!
You cannot flash stock rom via TWRP!
This is modded rom, so you can flash it via TWRP easily....
It's Official rom from Asus, just modded to be able flash through TWRP

Thank you for the info
But the thing is that I am already on the stock 3.24.40.87 rom and I want to go back to Kitkat 2.22.40.54 because it has much more improved battery performance than the lollipop. Is there any modded version of the stock Kitkat rom too? Or how do I go back to it?

You need to flash WW 2.22.40.54 recovery via Fastboot first, then sideload rom via adb

Put the phone into download mode
Connect to PC USB
Check ODIN has the COM port highlighted at the top
Add the stock ROM to AP in ODIN
When it is ready, press Start
When ODIN is finished flashing, it will reboot your phone into your new stock ROM
Stock ROM running on your phone after that will be able to take OTA updates (As long as you don't root / custom recovery)
If you want root and custom recovery again, just do the same as you did last time, and each time you want to update, just follow the above, that's how I update
