Any get Live messaging working? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So theres a port of Note 8 Live messages feature working on S8. Im FAIRLY certain its working on s7 edge but I cant get the 3 required apks to install. I get the familiar "package name conflict" error. This is supposed to happen but can be resolved by disabling secure startup, reboot then quickly install the apps. I still cant install them.
Im hoping someone has a tip to make them install...
But Id also appreciate confirmation that the Live messaging feature actually works. Thanks

I have a galaxy s7 edge, and I did manage to get the apks to install (I had secure startup toggled off, and toggled it on before restarting and quickly installing). However, when I try to use live messages, the app crashes whenever I hit "done" after drawing a message, rather than successfully attaching and sending the message. Not sure if this is a unique issue to my device, or if these apks really only work for the galaxy s8.

No no no. I guess it is missing some files

I have a S7 Edge, and I successfully installed all 3 apk's designed for the S8. The live message loads up, but when I tap done, it crashes. I'm sure it's because of the fact that live message was designed for android 7.1, the version that the note 8 came with out of the box. Right now, 14/02/18, the S7 Edge is stuck on 7.0. Although it's believed that Samsung is testing 7.1 or might update right to 8.0 for the S7 Edge. Hopefully, the update will support the live message better.
:fingers-crossed:

Has anybody got this live message working with the s7 edge yet? The android oreo update has been around so maybe worth a check if somebody has it installed?

These apk work on my galaxy a7 2016 (except for the neural keyboard) live messages work even on the standard keyboard. Just update it to the most current version and you're done. I think it will work fine on s7.

It installs but only comes up on neural keyboard. However it just crashes and does not send

Find My Mobile and Remote Controls missing from Security Settings

Disregard. I searched the wrong thing and didn't find it. After looking again I guess VZW crippled it or Samsung left it out. But then why are there instruction for S7 Edge...
Nowhere to be found to add the new S7 Edge to it. Don't want to run Google Device Manager because that's another app. Should be built in like it always was. Any ideas?

Samsung Cloud on Verizon S7 Edge?

Has anyone managed to find or install Samsung cloud on the Verizon S7 Edge? I am a refugee from the Note 7, and Verizon hid the app on that device but a workaround was found to uncover it. That same workaround does not work on my Verizon S7 Edge, as I find no hidden app called Samsung backup that I can uncover through Elixir or QuickShortcutMaker. I had no luck finding a separate apk that I can use to install it with.
For those unfamiliar with Samsung Cloud, is a great backup system and Samsung pushed it out to carriers several months ago as part of an update to the Edge, but clearly Verizon hid it or did not included in the update. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
It's not on the U firmware either, or in the Galaxy App store. It may have only been a Note 7 thing.
Thank you, but if you do a Google search for information about Samsung Cloud on the S7 Edge, you will see numerous press reports about an update that was pushed out a month or two ago to the Edge that included Samsung Cloud, at least on other carriers. I was hoping someone could perhaps extract the apk so that we could use it on Verizon. Verizon blocked that feature on the Note 7 since it competes with their far less useful Verizon Cloud.
Samsung official site now only says Note 7 which is ironic since It's officially dead. Update wasn't pushed out for edge.

Samsung Cloud On S7 Edge
It's listed differently on the Edge. Using the QuickShortcutMaker App, search for Personal Data Manager and you will find the Samsung Cloud backup and restre apps there and can make shortcuts to your homescreen with the app.
Awesome find, PoSmedley!
So I've made a "Backup" shortcut to the corresponding activity (in my case using Nova Launcher) and it launches, but when I attempt to perform a backup I get a notification that it "Failed to back up device data" and "A server error has occurred."
When I created a "Backup and Restore" activity, I am able to launch and enable "Backup and Sync," but when I tap "Next" I get "Download failed, failed to complete download due to network error." This may be a temporary situation, but I've tried/retried multiple times and the only way to continue is to tap "Later."
I'm wondering if I've inadvertently disabled a service that's required to make this work ... any thoughts?

Update: It's definitely something I disabled with Package Disabler. I saved an export of my disabled packages, re-enabled everything, and retried a Samsung Cloud backup. It completed normally. I can also launch the Backup and Restore activity and select a restore.
Looks like it's going to be trial-and-error to figure out which package it was that enabled it, unless someone else has already figured it out ... off to search for an answer
One other side effect I've seen from re-enabling all of those apps ... my battery life has improved by nearly 40%. Previously I would lose roughly 2%/hr with the phone sitting unused, with a strong wifi and moderate 4G signal. That's improved to rougly 1.2%/hr since re-enabling all but the games and dt-ignite. My Edge's battery life is now very close to what I was seeing with my Note 7s (original and replaced).
Even better when you flash the unlocked firmware.

Any updates on this?
I was just checking to see if you came to any conclusions on to what worked and why it did?

Instant Tethering by Google on our S7 edge

Hello! As maybe most of you already know, google officially released instant tethering on his devices (pixels and nexus'). As maybe some other of you know, there's actually a way to have google assistant on almost every nougat device just changing a line in build.prop file (ro.opa.eligible.device). This happens because our google app thinks it's running on a pixel device so runs the interface and related software exactly as in pixels do (it's cool, you should give it a try!). Of course you need root to do this as it is a system file. It works, i have it without even changing device name in build.prop.
So i was wondering if there is a way to enable similarly instant tethering on google settings. Of course it's not an hardware feature and getting the same software would be easy, though it is the same for everyone on nougat.
So do someone have an idea?? Thanks :good:

PlayGalaxy Link MOD APK for GS8 Exynos/Snapdragon [QUESTION]

Okay, I'll get straight to the point.
Samsung is doing a bad work on devices support especially on updates, but why they shouldn't allow S8 users to use their new PlayGalaxy App.
I tired downloading an .apk via ApkMirror but once installed, I've opened the app and a popup appears telling me that "your device isn't supported" .
Is there a way (by decompiling as an example) to remove this limitation and use this app on S8, even tho I don't think that you'll need a lot of power in order to run it.

LineageOS on Tab A SM-T307U?

Hi,
Was looking on the supported device list for LineageOS, I don't see the Tab A SM-T307U (2020) anywhere.
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/#samsung
Does anyone know if it ever will be supported? How does one go about requesting support? What is required to support this device? Is it possible? Thanks

I too would LOVE to have LineageOS 18.1 on my SM-T307U. In fact, the reason I picked up a Galaxy Tab S5e was because I could not find any remedy for my SM-T307U. (I'm still happy about the S5e...ecstatic actually...but learned my lesson to check Root and LineageOS device lists first before picking up any new Android device.)
Anyway, it appears that they've locked down the boot loader on SM-T307U, and nobody has figured out a way around it yet. Don't know if they ever will. Best I can do so far is use "PackageDisabler" paid app (google store)to disable/remove all the Samsung Bloatware, and load my Nova Launcher config & Wallpapers.
The more important thing for me (over a working LineageOS build), would even just to have an Android 11 build for the SM-T307U. I have strong doubts we will ever see one from Samsung/ATT (I have the ATT version).
Ok thank you.
I got the tab a for free from a t-mobile promo. I would have done as you did and checked for support first if I actually bought one.
It does however say android 11 in the system info.
Mine is on Android 10 w/ATT. I did not add it to my ATT account (no Sim), so it is WiFi only. Sw update continues to say no update available for OTA. I just did a fac reset today to see if that may spur it, but still no joy.
