PlayGalaxy Link MOD APK for GS8 Exynos/Snapdragon [QUESTION] - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Okay, I'll get straight to the point.
Samsung is doing a bad work on devices support especially on updates, but why they shouldn't allow S8 users to use their new PlayGalaxy App.
I tired downloading an .apk via ApkMirror but once installed, I've opened the app and a popup appears telling me that "your device isn't supported" .
Is there a way (by decompiling as an example) to remove this limitation and use this app on S8, even tho I don't think that you'll need a lot of power in order to run it.

[Q] How about sideload the 3rd party app on Atrix

Is the sideloading wonder machine still working with Atrix? Based on my understanding, that wonder machine needs to work with HTC sync, right?
Can Atrix works with HTC sync?
I just hate AT&T lock the function to install the 3rd party app. It is just non-sense and means we can't play the HD games from Gameloft...just a waste for such a good spec if we can't play high quality games on it.
Wake up! AT&T
May be a stupid question, but why do you need a separate app to install apks? Can't you just copy them to SD and use any explorer like AndroZip to install them? If not, why can't you just use adb that comes with the sdk?
According to Anandtech's review of the phone, installing apks from the sd card is not possible, but you can simply install anything via adb (so no HTC Sync and exploiting needed).
AFIK the Amazing Side Loader Machine just uses adb commands with a friendly gui shell. So since you can use adb commands to install, the side loader machine should work if your adb drivers are properly configured.

excuse me but how is it possible they reach to block installation of third part apps? In all android phones you can go to setting>applications>manage applications: there is a check box that allow you to load apps from any source. Is it possible to block this feature? I don't think so.
All AT&T Android phones have that option (and checkbox) removed and non-market installs are not possible through the Android OS. Even the Dell Streak was blocked like this and it was 4 months before it ever saw an AT&T retail store.
Apps can only be installed via adb push commands, or through the official Android Market. (or through the Amazing side loader....blah, blah...)
Rooting your phone does NOT fix this.
So yes I do think so, and you are excused.

Thanks. So far, I can use sideloading wonder machine to install 3rd party app into my HTC inspire. Not a problem.
As long as the issue solved, then the Atrix is a must buy.

ok so we can use adb or sideloading wonder machine to sideload apps. So this problem is already solved. It remains the problem of locked bootloader: I read zroot could work, we will see. i will buy it from USA (because it's really cheap there considering exchange $ to €) only IF it will be rooted and custom roms will be available.

I think you could edit the settings.db to allow it even though the checkbox is removed. It's pretty straightforward once you have root access and can edit that file.

[Q] Actual full Android Market

So I had no problem installing or physically using the market app. The problem comes when I search for apps in the market. Every time I see a thread about must have apps I search for said apps and only find half or less. Real racing 2, Gta 3, even Google f'in maps all come up with nothing. I have tried every version of the market I can find to no avail. I figure there must be some other problem, and I just don't have the intelligence to figure it out. Is it possible the market checks for device compatability? Regardless, you guys are smarter than I can ever hope to be and seem helpful for the most part.
I would tell you what I rooted with and what market version I am using but it all got lost when my last laptop crashed. Yes, I know, longest post with no info ever. My bad.
UPDATE
I no longer have a computer and did not get any further in my quest to get the full market before my computer died. I probably could have just edited this post instead of posting a reply (third post) but I don't use forums much. So if you know of a way to get the full market without a computer it would be most appreciated.
Check out this thread.
Now, that developer has stated that he will not support stock, so I would not use his build.prop if you're using stock. What I did was to modify my own build.prop. Comment out (put a pound symbol: "#" at the very start of the line) any lines in your build.prop that start with either ro.build or ro.product, and add any line starting with those strings from the linked build.prop.
Now, realistically, I would expect that the linked build.prop to work on stock, but the developer has explicitly said you're on your own if you try. You can mess up your device by playing with build.prop, but the ro.build & ro.product lines should be relatively safe to change. Plus I have my own tweaks I prefer, so that's all I took from his version.
Check out the first post in this thread. I found this as a work around for the not compatible crap.
You have to follow it to a T
I just installed Real Racing 2 on my KF running CM7 Short version... Pay attention to browser vs market....
You may need to go to market.android.com in your browser first and log out if you are already logged in. (cookies)
1. Using browser google the app name.
2. Scroll until you see the link to the app on market.android.com.
3. Click that link in browser.
4. If you get a pop-up that asks to use browser or market, select browser.
5. A pop up will ask you to sign in. Sign in.
6. It will then ask you what to use to complete action, browser or market. Select market.
7. There will be an install button on the left of the page that describes the app, reviews, etc. Select install and then accept permissions.
8. It will download, but there will be an exclamation point at the top saying it is not compatible with your device, but if you look in your status bar, it will show that the app downloaded by the little check box inside a square icon.
9. Click that and finish the process. When I clicked the link in status bar, it then prompted me for the full 600 meg additional download for the game.
It finished the download and installed. I am now looking at the "Player Settings" screen and music from the game is playing on the KF.
The link posted above was for installing magiclocker main which, if you go through the normal process using the market app, is not available and doesn't come up in search . But if you do it as described, it will work.
(now to uninstall Real Racing 2 'cause I'm not a gamer)
Yes I am bringing this back from the dead because I have made no progress. It is only my fault though. Long story short, my fire is my only connection to the Internet now. I have no computer and did not get to flash a new Rom or update my build.prop before it died. Same general question as before about the market, but with a new more difficult situation. I figure I am screwed but I don't like to give up easily. Thanks again.
I got around this by using the GR6 rom (MoDaCo)... It has changes to it to make the market think it is a Galaxy Tab...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916
I see that version 7 is out now... have not tried it... might flash it today.

o TweakDeck Twitter client Kindle Fire version (can be uninstalled)

Omnirom vs Samsung Libraries on N7100

Hi folks,
I know it might sound weird to want the samsung bloatware on a clean system, but since it's the only way to get the Galaxy Gear watch doing its job...
Most stuff is done via the Samsung AppStore - but installing the apk files just says that it won't install. No reason in sight.
Any clues besides that I'm missing some libs?

Samsung's apps are signed using Samsung's private signing key, which means they won't work on anything that didn't come from Samsung themselves.
Resigning the Samsung stuff with the platform testkeys (which is what current omni builds use) MIGHT work - but not likely. There are almost surely framework dependencies.
(In general, this is one of the reasons I would recommend that anyone avoid the Gear like the plague. Given the insane amount of CPU power it has, it should be fully capable of standalone operation, barely even needing a phone to operate. However, it has tons of compatibility issues that no other smartwatch has, despite other smartwatches like the Pebble, Sony Smartwatch, and Metawatch being FAR more dependent on the phone than Gear should be.)

Wouldn't/Shouldn't the "install apps from unknown source" option deal with that case?
Miracle solved by LogCat - No miracles... just a darn library:
E/PackageManager( 2432): Package com.sec.android.app.samsungapps requires unavailable shared library
touchwiz; failing!

No. That only applies to installing apps via ADB and via file managers.
It doesn't apply to key mismatches of APKs that want shared UIDs with platform keys.

Peloton Spin Bike

I have a peloton Spin Bike, and it can with a screen where your able to stream workouts on through the companies subscription. The screen is operated by Android Jellybean: 4.1.1.
OK, so here's my challenge for anyone that,s willing to accept!
Problem: when you turn on the peloton bike screen your locked into the peloton app, and the you can't get out of the app to do other things... For example, watch YouTube or something else.
Challenge: I'm sure this is an easy hack, but if anyone can figure out how to unlock this. You be compensated for your efforts!
I'd love to be compensated for the effort, but really you can just Google the command sequence as it's pretty popular to install Netflix and watch movies rather than consume the Peloton content.
I successfully extracted the Peloton APK from the bike and installed it on my Galaxy S6. The issue is that it won't go past the login screen. I figure one of two things is happening. Either the app is calling a procedure to validate that hardware on the bike is working before logging in, or two, the Peloton server is validating the login request is coming from a bike instead of another device via a token or validation of operating system version, etc.
pretty simple to do, go to about section of the bike, tap on the lower right corner area of the about screen, which should take you out of the app into a main android area....after that open the browser, download apk installer and then download whatever apps you want to add to the tablet
hey guys, just bought a used peloton and have two really specific questions:
- has anyone reset all the data through settings? If so, what happens?
- I'm not seeing the invisible button that everyone is describing here and in other forums. I also have developer options on so I can see all of the hit areas. Am I missing something?
Thank you!

But once you are in the about screen, how do you download new software? I dont see an option anywhere to download. I only see the disable ap button.
My Peloton console won't go beyond searching for network if I use Wifi, or download updates if I use ethernet. I don't think it's a hardware failure and had been looking for a ROM to load it. Anyone backup their console? It's a first generation tablet running lollipop.
Any chance someone figured out how to do this with the Peloton Tread? Its running Android 7... I can get to APKmirror.com and click download, just feel like they went to an extra effort to hide / disable downloads... or maybe a way to side load via USB, I can't get a USB device to recognize...

If you connect via USB you can place the APK on the device. My only issue is that it wont install as its an unknown source and i am unable to allow unknown sources to install.
if youre on a peloton running nougat (android 7.0), from the login screen you can go to:
wifi (icon, top right) --> system settings --> legal (licenses etc.) --> and click any button that says homepage.
it will bring you up in a browser from which point you can download a third party launcher such as Nova and use it to display a stock android UX (homescreen). once you have this you might choose to download an apk for google play, or even just grab apks (app files) via google searches. (for example: google: Netflix android 7.0 apk --> then follow links to download).
This does not work for me. Clicking download does nothing. Any ideas.

I just got the bike the other day and tried through both downloading the app directly onto the peloton tablet (as you recommended) and through ADB, followed the instructions of this :
https://www.reddit.com/r/pelotoncycle/wiki/index/howto/root
but it would just "hang"
I then learnt to add -p when installing through ADB and discovered this error:
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_UNEXPECTED_EXCEPTION: Failed to parse /data/app/vmdl1690417893.tmp/base.apk: AndroidManifest.xml]
I have tired using ADB to install the app on my android phone and it worked fine - which means it's not the app - I believe!

You don't need active subscription to use apps that you have already installed. Sadly, The problem is most of the apps have new versions and old versions are deprecated within few months.

Uncompatible apps with S10+

A friend of mine has found that on Play Store there are some apps that aren't "compatible" with the S10+. I too myself have checked and yes, it appears like it isn't compatible.
Can anyone else on other Regions check if this apps appear too like that? I am from Puerto Rico
Apps:
1. Adobe Premier Clip
2. Slice Package Tracker
In Poland (central Europe):
- APClip - same as yours
- Slice - doesn't even show up in results

If it's any consolation, the applications install just fine if you download the APK directly (e.g., APKPure).
The best thing to do is to reach to the Developers and inquire when your device will be 'officially' supported. They hold the key.
I'll explain why this happens:
When an application is built, a unique file called a 'Manifest' is created alongside it.
The 'Manifest' lists what the application CAN and CANNOT do when used with a specific device.
When the application is searched via Google Play and the result loaded, the 'Manifest' determines whether or not the device IS or ISN'T compatible.
If the Application is, it will install.
And if it isn't, it won't.
Given the popular of Samsung as a whole, you'll likely see availability soon but given the amount of devices released every month, one can only imagine how many updates a Developer must have to prepare.
If you'd like to learn more, take a look at this:

The thing is that not each device is manually included in the manifest. New devices are released all the time and unless you exclude something specifically, apps are always made available for distribution. This happens with one of the apps my company runs as well. Whenever a new Galaxy device comes out, its always incompatible with the app and its not because of anything we have done with it.
@Blaaargh
'The thing is that not each device is manually included in the manifest.'
No one said every device is included in the manifest. In fact no devices are listed in the manifest; only declarations.
'New devices are released all the time and unless you exclude something specifically, apps are always made available for distribution. Whenever a new Galaxy device comes out, its always incompatible with the app and its not because of anything we have done with it.'
OP wanted to know why APK X and Y weren't working. I provided him with a generalized explanation of why it MAY happen. It could very well be a Samsung issue but without breaking down the APKs in question, there's no way to be certain.
