ZTE Axon 7 Mini Screen Replacement Part Or Data Recovery - ZTE Axon 7 Mini Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
My wife dropped her phone and now the screen doesn't turn on. The phone is still on because the blue LED in the top corner still flashes, and I feel the phone vibrate when taking a screen shot. She has some files on the phone for her externship that I'd like to recover along with some pictures of our puppy and of course we didn't set up the phone to be accessed as an media device before the accident.
I came across the thread below asking about a screen replacement also but it looks like the end result was sending the phone in for service:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ax...-7-mini-screen-replacement-t3588093?nocache=1
I'd rather replace the screen myself so that I can recover the data. I just can't seem to find the screen anywhere to buy. Does anyone know where I can find it? Or even a compatible screen? As long as it'll power on and function enough to enable use as an mtp is all I need.
Thanks for any help!

DEAR ZTE CUSTOMER,
You can back up your phone data first, then fix your phone in nearby after-sale service site. If you do itself, there are risks for losing your data.
Thank you!

Thanks for your reply William, but backing up the phone data is the main problem I'm having. The screen is unresponsive so I'm unable to back it up. As such, I'm looking for a compatible screen so that I can recover what's still on the phone.
If you know of a way that I can back up the phone data without needing to use the phone for any inputs please let me know!

Hi,
Did you have any luck doing this? I'm having the same issue and can't find a way to retrieve my data before I risk repair/losing it.
Many Thanks,
DB

Sorry

Hey,
Sorry I didn't. I haven't heard anything back from ZTE and I haven't had any luck finding a replacement screen. I ended up just buying another 7 mini from Best Buy. My current plan is whenever the newer phone gets replaced, I'll put that screen on the old phone to get the data off of it that way. It's a sucky solution and I wish parts were more available but at least in my case the data isn't vital so I can wait to get it.
If you end up finding anything on replacement screens please come back and let me know!
EDIT: I did some searching again and I can find some screen parts now. That's the good news. The bad news is that the screens themselves are still about half the price of a new phone. If the screen price drops to about $50 or $60 I'll probably get one and do the swap. Until then I'm going to wait.

Anybody with a bricked or broken Sprint mogul they want to get rid of?

Hey guys/gals,
I'm trying to get a hold of a broken Sprint Mogul for a project Does anyone have a broken Mogul (Sprint Version) that they want to donate/sell?
You can have some cash for a late holiday present and make my holiday season great all at the same time.
Thanks for reading

Broken Mogul
I have one you can have. Insurance from Sprint never sent me a return envelope when I got my replacement. It has a screwed up screen, but otherwise works in all capacities. Long story short I dropped it hiking and the screen broke (like you can see the fracture marks). If you're willing to throw a couple dollars my way I wouldn't complain, but otherwise I just want money for shipping. If you want to pay for it we'll work out a price and I'll post it on amazon and send you a link, so that you have an easy way to pay for it (or at least the shipping) and somewhere you can rely on in case something weird happened. Send me an email or reply to this post.
So the phone has a clean esn. i.e. can we activate and test on a sprint account right away(after replacing the screen of course?
Has anyone found any answers on how to unbrick a htc mogul?
What about the jtag?
Just wondering, bricked mine yesterday, flashed wrong radio rom, won't turn on, won't give boot screen, won't connect to usb.
yep bricked it good it did!
hello, i accidentaly bricked my htc mogul, have you found a solution to this problem yet?
thanks.

Can you get into bootloader?
no I can not. the screen remains like turned off. the phone doesn't vibrate, nothing.
using the usb connection, activesync obviously doesn't work, but using QPST I was able to open the usb port, under the phone column it says: Q/QCP-XXX(Download)
I appreciate any help with this matter.

[Q] Nexus 4 Spots On Screen

I already trouble shot it with Google but I figured I would ask here as most of you know more than they.
I already did a factory reset 3 days ago because I deleted a file I shouldn't have. But now it has come down to them recommending me do another and then getting back if it still persists.
The problem is when I turn my screen back on I see white spots all over the screen for 2-3 seconds. I can't imagine why, or even why a factory reset is going to fix.
I have NEVER dropped (cross fingers) or got it wet, and truthfully have no idea how to tell and wouldnt want to begin taking the back off.
I am most certain there is no water damage
So I have tried:
Switched Wallpapers
Turned phone off then on
Switched from Apex to Launcher
Still there. I am posting a pic below. If anyone could help I would be most grateful.
Again you prolly know more than most of their employees
One time when I had a problem, but eventually got fixed, this is what I was told, they will do an advanced replacement, BUT I have to pay $350, then get it back when they get and verify the phone I send
I am not working so would not be able to do that. I suppose I could switch to my phone of choice I have here and just send it in?
Or I was told contact LG where there is no downpayment needed.
In either case, back then I was told there was stock for this type of situation, now I am told they no longer have any? You have any idea when they will catch up
THANKS for even taking time to read this, and even more if you can help
Eric

Can't imagine what sort of hardware issue or fault would cause that, it looks like some sort of effect done by software.
You need to reset your phone and go back to the stock ROM (if not already using that) and then see if it still does it, I suspect it will not.

Phil
So this was present before the factory reset 3 days ago? If not then do it again

Thanks to everyone, as you were responding, my friend Macky (maybe you know him LOL) suspected it had to be software/app because it showed up on the screen shot. So he said it wasnt hardware
I reset again and no problem
Thanks
lets say it wasn't the app, what could have caused it. (btw I dont root so dont know all the basics you prolly do) Just simple things like the computer that get messed up??

[Q] Pattern Locked, No Touch & Need SDcard backup. - No digitizer, visible screen

Hello
Before you ask, I have searched high and low for a solution for this, trying different attempts, so here is my thread. If you find or know of another thread with the magic solution, please link me and I will thank you eternally
Me and my girlfriend have just got back from holiday and I broke the screen whilst we were away. I need to recover the data from the sdcard as it has all our holiday photos.
It is the LG Nexus 4, running the latest, STOCK, untouched Android 4.2.2.
Potential Problems
Mobile Data & WiFi is disabled - holiday so they were turned off
Screen touch / digitizer does not work
Stock Android 4.2.2
USB debugging is OFF
There's a daily alarm set which is p** me off!
Please, any suggestions?
Thanks, Josh.
As an update to this, Wi-Fi IS turned on, so I can use the online playstore to update an app, but cannot use the touchscreen and so access the app etc.

Untouched device with USB Debugging off. No way to crack this (as far as I know). A very similar issue, but still no solution. You may read this, or this.
To unlock, simply get your touchscreen fixed. No other way. Sorry mate.

Thanks. Great news - the phone is insured, but if I take the SD card out or do the touchscreen myself, it will invalidate the insurance. It's not just the front touchscreen which is broken, the back is shattered also.

Wow. Can't believe there's no way to do this. Thanks for the help those who have read this but also, cannot help!

As long as you replace the screen by yourself all the data will be saved. Screen replacement is very easy and is much cheaper than paying LG

Backup w/ Broken Screen? (TWRP Installed)

Hey guys, I recently broke the LCD on my Note 3 running stock KitKat ( :crying: ) and realized I hadn't done a nandroid backup in quite some time...
I tried the obvious adb pull, but for some reason I couldn't even get into adb shell or see my device in the device list like I had previously.
I'm all out of ideas now...
Could somebody please throw some help my way?
Does your phone even boot up? Do you get sound, vibration, anything to indicate it's still working internally beside blank screen?
Are you going to try to fix it? buy new one? upgrade to Note 4? Me and my wife used to own GS3 and when she broke her screen, I swapped motherboard with mine to copy pictures mostly and some other stuff, but we werent going to fix it, since I decided to get her GS5.

I'm getting a replacement through the phone insurance. It does turn on and function perfectly normal, the screen just has a tiny, tiny fracture point with a crack spanning across the screen horizontally, rendering the bottom half unusable. The top half is functioning though.
I cannot unlock my phone or make a backup with the bottom half not working.
Try using a bluetooth mouse or wired mouse with otg cable

Could help, made for exactly your problem. If you manage to get it working download Nandroid Offline backup, which allows you to make a Nandroid backup from Android itself, rather than CWM/TWRP.
EDIT -- Just checked and it works an absolute treat. Providing you had USB Debugging enabled before your phone got broke, it should work fine. It even has the option to swipe to unlock or disable a pattern unlock if you had one enabled.

Thank you for the link - it looks like it would be a great solution, but unfortunately I cannot enable USB debugging with the code given :\. I may be out of luck
Well, if nothing else works and data on the phone is that important, then you need to convince the insurance company to send you new Note 3 first and swap the MB as I suggested to retrieve the data, then put everything back to original. I have not done this on Note 3, but GS3 was probably one of easier electronics repairs I've done, just follow one of many youtube videos, to make sure you don't break some wire, before disconnecting. Possibly a shop could do that for you.
Well, freakin sweet deal. After being on the phone with the insurance company and US Cellular for two and a half hours and having them tell me everybody was out of Note 3's and they would only give me $400 bucks for my old phone minus my $175 deductible, I received another call from management at the insurance company apologizing and letting me know that they'd offer me $725.
It just so happens the new Note 4 is $770, so thank the Lord I'm in a good spot!

S7 Edge Stolen

Hello guys, yesterday my S7 edge was stolen and I was able to track the device till one location, but couldn't find the device or the robber once I got there. I had the SM-G935F international variant (Exynos) - stock and first question I would like to ask is: Is it possible to turn off the device from the lock screen without the pincode/fingerprint? Because I think it was not possible when I had it.
I'm just asking because once I have reached the location the google maps timeline, stopped recording the movement of my device.. and have stopped since there..
Around 3 hours later my girlfriend (I put her contact as security), received a message on her device saying the SIM card had been changed. I had the device with 4G (wifi I'm not sure) and the lock screen was secured. I tried using Samsung find my mobile and was even more useless than google maps timeline, because It couldn't locate the device even when google maps could.
I went to the police and they say that, they could locate (but It's going to take a while) the sim card that was put on that IMEI.
Do you guys know another way that could help me know some information sooner? At least something I could help the police with..
Hope you can help me in some way.
I'm in Czech Republic btw.
Best Regards,
Neto
damn man, I'm so sorry for u, f*cking crappy ppl...
the easiest way to track ur phone is to detect via SIM/IMEI, for that u have to know that new code that was inserted (not easy for us, but police should have), all other services (google, samsung, whatever) works just when de phone is on and have a network connection/GPS active (that cannot be turned off with the phone locked), sad is, the phone can be turned off w/o problem at any moment. Last updates with google apps, doesn't let u use your phone even giving a factory reset because u need to put the last google credentials used in that phone (but I don't know if u have to activate that in some settings, in my older phone it was on by default)....
sad is no much to do here, hope police in your country is more competent that mine's
I also advise going the police route.
File an official complaint and ask for a file number so you know it's official and the investigation will be active.
Keep us posted on how things go.
I've already talked with the police, gonna know if they can find them by the EMEI..
Wish tracking devices were made much more simple..
Brother's stolen phone (iD*ot 6S) was found by czech police within two days (in Prg), so finger's crossed for you! If you are from Prague I could ask him which office he went to.
Not sure there is anything you can do at this point, but I will recommend an app that I use called Where's My Droid. You can get the paid version (I would highly recommend paying the small one time fee for this) and it does quite a lot. You can track it online from a computer, and even through text messages. You can use text message commands to take pictures from the front and rear cameras, get GPS location, lock the sim and prevent others from being used, and even change your pin through text. You set up the keywords needed so that others cannot send out a generic code to lock you out of your own device. I would highly recommend that app for your next phone. It may not prevent a theft, but at least you could get a picture of the criminal and provide that to the police as well.
Good luck on finding your phone, and I feel for you.

wow. Wish I wouldn't have took a lot of measures in order to save battery and making the tracking of my device harder.. never again.. :crying:
Yeah, it's unfortunate, especially for a new phone that's not cheap.
One workaround I did when I broke my phone screen out of anger right after I upgraded was open a new line on my account so I only had to pay the upgrade price for the phone again. Not sure if you have that option for your carrier or even country for that matter. But hopefully the police can help you out greatly.
I'm sorry about what happened, my s7 edge was stolen too like 2 weeks ago, I feel you bro. ****ing thieves
