Is it possible to change source of the weather widget? - Samsung Galaxy Note FE Questions & Answers

Hi all, I've just received my FE and I'm still trying to figure out few things. First, I've succesfully flashed a L firmware on my S version unit. Still a load of bloatware. My question for you guys is if it is possible to change source of the weather widget since the default korean website is inaccurate. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes it is possible! I've got the K-version and made it.
Your Note should be rooted and you have to edit the CSC files.
Follow this instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/guide-to-change-csc-root-rom-multi-csc-t3017207
I took the CSCs from my Note, the needed Temps from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392957 and create my own files (I removed the most KOR & KTT parts).
According to this you can activate or edit a lot of other stuff (disabling camera shutter sound etc...)
In the others.xml is one important entry for you, named "CscFeature_Weather_ConfigCpType", change the value from KOR to TWC.
After an reboot the source change to The Weather Channel. That's it.
It also transfer correctly to the Gear.

[Q] How do I know the original PDA , CSC, MODEM?

Hello!
I have a quick question, I was searching around the web but still can't find how to identify the original ROM pre installed on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
I know that my device was made in Canada because is the version SM N900W8. And I had installed a ROM that I downloaded from sammobile.(Information added in the attachment), I upgrade it manually to the Android Version 4.4.3 and didn't save the information of the original one and at this very moment I'm having an issue with the "Android: GPS - Continuous Scanning or Unable to Fix/Lock Location". I tried solutions as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612757 but as far as I know this is related directly with the ROM that I had currently installed. I tried searching with the IMEI on http://www.imei.info/ and http://swappa.com/ but nothing related directly with the original ROM. Probably I'm missing some information regardless with the carrier that was made for, I'm currently located in Bogotá, Colombia.
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:

Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app and check for the 'Original CSC Code' in the CSC INFO section.
If that doesn't help, I will show you another solution.

Thank you so much for the reply. Great application +5 recommended. But it only shows me the information that I currently have installed (Trinidad y Tobago ROM) [Information Attached]- It had pre installed some ROM for a Canadian carrier, but for mistake I didn't save the information of it. What is the alternative method to double check what was the original one?
What you want, definitely can't be seen.
You can only see the version of the current installed rom.
Sent from my N9005
Well, I work for HTC and in the tool that we use here. That is possible, it shows you all the information about the device. Baseband, rom version, date of installation, kernel source, lenght of download OTA. I tried to contact Samsung with out any good response for security policies.

It depends on how you installed the rom. Sometimes the Original CSC remains and can be obtained with Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app.
Ok try another way: install Kies, connect your phone to PC, go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization, enter your Model name, then S/N. Kies will show you original firmware information.
Thank you! Question Resolved.

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate this. That was the information that I was looking for, now I know that my device is not from Canada, it was TELCEL Mexico, by the way is the same variant of the note 3 on Canada. :fingers-crossed::good: Now I hope I can fix the glitch with the GPS. (with the original ROM). I'm hoping now if the SIM unlock will remain if I do the forware upgrade and initialization from Kies.
phone info app
best way to know is install Phone Info App from playstore....it will give you complete details
Download mode shows your original Country code, no matter what CSC you flash
Turn off your phone, then press Volume Down + Bixby Button + Power button once for 4 seconds.
A blue screen will appear saying that do not flash non original firmware, press Volume Up.
A screen will come up saying at the top "ODIN MODE".
In this screen, you have some information about your device, but the one that we are intrested is a red line "CARRIER_ID: XXX"
That ID is your CSC code, no matter what firmware you install it on. Mine is PAN - the original - even though i currently have DBT installed.
and just press Volume Down + Power key for 7 seconds to restart to normal mode.
Your post is five years after question but more than that it does not apply to Note 3 .

Hey Bro.
I running android 6.0 beta but no new update for me ...
How update tu android 6.01
Just came to my phone as well. Downloading it now.
It would be great if someone could upload the rom if a dev could somehow use it to distribute it to the rest or maybe a system dump
It works, with a small starting issue.
Edge features are great. News (Yahoo only, can't seem to be able to change it) people, tasks, frequently used apps, stocks, tools (compass, ruler, flashlight), Twitter feed, sports scores (again Yahoo) Internet bookmarks etc.
Most everything can be customized and changed to suit your needs. One useful feature is locations and what you want the phone to do when you reach that location. I set mine to turn off wifi and BT and put it in vibrate when I reach work. I know, these things have been around for a long time but it's nice to have them in the Edge screen.
After the update was applied I was stuck on 2G for a while. Turning mobile networks off/on, swapping APNs and turning on/off roaming didn't help. I then opted to go for Automatic 3G/2G in network selection, which got me on 3G, then I switched back to Automatic LTE/3G/2G which got me back on LTE. I did not reboot, which may have fixed the issue. Just a headsup... I'm on ATT.
Smart Manager is now in Settings.
Not sure of other features... will dig some more, and of course test the battery life.
Had the 2G issue but rebooted it updated all fine.
Loving the edge features glad to see Samsung wake up and really introduce a killer feature. Now they need to keep up support, add even more cards and advertise the feature. Location feature is cool as is the compass although needs a calibration at each use.
Agenda card is awesome everything for the day and one click brings up the details.
Contact tab finally a direct call option plus lots of other options.
Only about 350MB download. OTA, its an awesome update 6.0.1 and January security patch.
is the lag still present any where on the UIs animations ?
Got the update zip for my 925F from the "/data/fota" folder.
Here is the link to the update: MEGA
Also I've managed to get the new sboot from the zip and pack it with the Tar-tool to the tar.md5 file in case it's needed for rooting.
Here is the link to the new bootloader: MEGA
Edit: changed the bootloader tar.md5, somehow md5 did not match on previous one. Sorry about that.
Link to the new one: MEGA
Battery notably better with heavy use, playing with app most the day.
I don't notice the lag but then I turn animations right down

How would you flash that with ODIN?
Any help would be appreciated.

If you mean the new bootloader, flash it with BL button.
As for the update.zip, it's not for the Odin but for the stock recovery.

i guess you may want to place the .zip file in data/fota folder and then try restarting phone, restarting into stock recovery or restarting to upload mode for SW updates.
good luck !

[Oreo] S7 Active Android Oreo Looks More Like S8

The new Android Oreo OTA firmware looks more like the galaxy S8 theme, without any modding needed, apart from installing the zip file!
the zip file is found on the below website
[Must be on baseband ending in BRB5, check out my other post for instructions how to get to that version...]
https://cloud.mail.ru/public/BGy7/gKs4xzhRE/OTA/Oreo/SS-G891AUCU2BRB5-to-U2CRC7-UP.zip
Attatched below are pictures of the new Oreo update, which I installed on my S7 Active, and by the way, the update has not crashed at all. [It did crash once, but that was due to me using the phone in direct sunlight, which may have caused it to overheat, but thats probably a good thing, that it didn't overheat till death]
i have gone into the home screen settings, and disabled the apps button in the bottom right, so i can swipe to view my apps. by default , there are no s8 wallpapers, but i will include the wallpaper i used below. enjoy!
heres the wallpapers. think i ran out of attachments up there:
i understand the photo says galaxy s7 under phone name. this is not officially released yet, so for some odd reason, the default name is galaxy s7 rather than galaxy s7 active.

As mentioned above, how's the battery life and stability so far? I haven't got my device rooted or anything, how would I go about updating to OREO, should Iflash the file through ODIN? Do I need to be on a specific version of Nougat before upgrading?
Thanks

Before upgrading you need the build number G891AUCU2BRB5, then you have to flash the Oreo rom using stock recovery and adb sideload.
How well does it run on your phone?

I'd like to know about performance issues with Oreo on the S7 active. There is an article that says there's a noticeable slowdown and some glitches with the camera. Are these isolated glitches or does anyone upgrading to Oreo find the same thing?
hey... with the "swipe to unlock" on oreo does it still appear after you set a timer too keep your phone unlocked during activity?
one og my gripes with Nogat is the swipe to unlock never goes away....

This is probably in the cscfeature.xml or others.xml file, depending on the 8.0 or 9.0 system, which cscfeature line is responsible for this menu, I have no idea, in the seat you can replace this other.xml file with Rom where the menu works for another Rom, you only need to do the editing for a given csc, otherwise it will not work.

Galaxy S8 Exynos Rom with call recording?

Hello everyone!
Is there any rom available that includes call recording? I honestly don't understand how this feature is not available in all of them.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi, I have a 950F (Samsung S8) and I managed to activate this hidden function (because of countries laws) by adding a line in a system file (require root). Very simple hack in fact.
I invite you search across the net about this method now that you know that it is working on our phone.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I couldn't find any details about that line to be changed. Could you please provide a link?
Hi, I made a research on google, typing "csc samsung call recording" and i found posts like this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/enable-call-recording-editing-csc.3866537/
I found other posts talking about OMC and ODM folders instead of CSC folder, depending on Samsung phones / android versions..
For me, when I was on stock ROM, i used that code below (but I'm on Lineage OS now so I can't help anymore).
To activate it - you need to edit /system/csc/feature.xml file (if exists, otherwise you need to edit /system/csc/others.xml file). Just add the following line (anywhere, but BETWEEN <FeatureSet> and </FeatureSet> lines):
Code:
<CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>RecordingAllowed</CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>

So im on stock until I know the future of Magisk/safetynet what I do is flash Hades rom and select INS (India) CSC during the aroma installer, once its flashed I then flash the INS stock filmware with Odin. Once it boots it will ask you to reboot to reset but just hit "cancel" and finish the setup of the phone, you will then get a notification saying to reboot to use your sims features and its then okay to reboot. you will then have call recording. I should say that you will have the Indian filmware so some features you use may not be there or may be different none of which are important to me as call recording. (If youre not already rooted I should warn you that flashing TWRP will trip Knox and Samsung Pay/Health/Pass/Secure folder will never work again even if you flash stock, although some roms have health and secure folder patched and work)
But roms that I know have call recording are Hades rom, Duluxerom and Devbase.
