Nope, not it beta.

no OTA's here

Just got it, play store Pixel XL with Verizon service. Update was pretty quick. Seems smooth and apps seem to load faster and work faster once they are open.

I just updated my wife's Verizon Pixel, I "checked for updates" and it instantly came up.

It's boot time (not the first one during update) is astoundingly fast.

I just flashed back from factory image Oreo to N yesterday, due to Beta OTA Oreo causing me a few issues...
Now the real OTA is here and I don't want to upgrade to it.... :/

Guys - please post the following:
Final build number:
Bought from:
Disk size:
Carrier SIM:
Approx. update file size and count (did you install two OTAs and reboot twice?):
The reason is that there are multiple 'final' build numbers out there for those going from DP4 => Oreo

Opr6.170623.012
Google play store
128gb
Verizon
Approx. 945mb (can't remember exactly)
Sent from my BTV-W09 using Tapatalk

OPR6.170623.011
Google Play store
128gb
Sprint
951.2 MB
Unmodified stock device. No beta. No bootloader unlock.(or does the G store version come unlocked bootloader already??)

I'm moving this thread to general discussion section as this is not related to any Q&A.

I think it 850mb or so. One OTA, one reboot
Hope that helps.

After using it for about 24 hours I can't say that I have noticed a big increase or decrease in battery life. I know most people say give it a day or 2 for the update to "settle in". I also have had 0 problems with apps so far.

New Update on Droid Maxx

I just got this update a few minutes ago. I can't seem to find anyone talking about it. Anyone got any information on changes?
Just the stage fright patch
To me this is kind of a disappointment, considering that the time was taken to produce a security update for an exploit that has been around a while, but the release a new os for the ultra/maxx/mini users that could better the experience and patch the security issues is nowhere in sight. Furthermore with this patch, its very doubtful that we will see L on our devices.

Big disappointment indeed. This is all Verizon has to offer? A patch for the stagefright bug? Wow, I'm impressed. Not!
Yeah, I think at this point droid maxx/ultra/mini users can pretty much forget about getting Lollipop. I mean come on, L has been out for a year and these phones are two years old now. They (the carriers) are not going to waste time, money, and effort on dinosaur phones, especially with Marshmallow out now.
Edit: Just got my "New system software available". Had to go into settings>system update to get the notification. The update is only 2.7 megabytes. Just a bug patch, that's all.
Whoopee! Not!
So if they don't deliver, will maxx users get a kickback like atrix hd owners did when kk wasn't delivered.

Yeah, I think Verizon is going to give everybody a free Droid Turbo 2 with lifetime free unlimited data! :silly:
Just kidding, of course.
Surprising that they are slacking so bad with so many 2013 droid phones that receive the same update with the ultra and mini supposed to get it too and the mini is still being sold at Verizon.

Not so minor, read major BUG fix!
Stock launcher update, no more safe boot crashes while you have more than 200 apps.
For starters...
Look at the zip, many apps updated.
Will because of this I bet we are not gonna see 5.1 on are phones tell next year if at all.
And im also gonna hold off on updating in hopes of a bootloader unlock to install some roms/make my own.

I do not think the boot is touched. Do not suffer bad sw for nothing.
Bought the Maxx at launch and still using it (I'm unlocked/rooted), but have already ordered my Nexus 6P. I'm done with Verizon's inability to update phones, so I'm taking them out of the equation.

The "update" is only 2.7 mb in size. There is not a lot going on with the update. Just the stagefright patch that's all.
Verizon took all this time just to come out with a 2.7 mb update? This sucks bigtime.
I'm looking at getting the Moto X Pure. It is unlocked and can be used on Verizon's network. The bootloader is unlockable through Motorola/Lenovo. I don't want any more of Verizon's locked down phones.

I don't think the Maxx is going to see Lollipop at all.
Also, if there is a bootloader unlock exploit developed, I don't think this minor update will prevent you from using it. That's just my opinion.

You're wrong! Many apps updated to fix long standing bugs. LOOK at the 2 sys app folders before you make ignorant statements. I took it based on the app folder content, it fixed a major bug. I bet it fixes the Bluetooth / Maps / Youtube bug as well.... You assume that vzw passes all the Moto details to us. They do not.
What is the build date on the update? And we are just now getting it.

Guys this is a minor update so if a bootloader unlock method was created then you can downgrade the version back to do the bootloader unlock method its not a Lollipop update just a like a new build update..Only problem is will this break root access if we update????

If anyone captures OTA zip for retail models, please post it here.
I don't understand David Schuster... He doesn't say a word about the reason why xt1096 and xt1097 at&t doesn't get upgraded.
It's like he doesn't care from all that owners who own these models...
At lease he need to tell us why

I have EU 1092 (i from Czech Republic), so why he wrote Germany etc, but what means EU? It's not Germany, because version it's "retde" but i have reteu.

Finally got OTA .. XT1092 , Indian Model
I got my update to Marshmallow yesterday. Pretty impressed at the speed of this one as Lollipop took forever to arrive!!
The actual update process went very smoothly.
It's made the overall feel of the whole OS a lot nicer and smoother. Definitely feels more polished to me. Also love the unbelievable control of app permissions in this one! They've really ramped up on security here.
Another small but amazingly useful change: the addition of battery percentage!!!! Took them long enough but finally it's here in some form or another!
Everything seems to work quite well without having to reset the phone like I used to have to do when upgrading from other versions of Android.
Not tested battery life just yet but hoping it'll have improved thanks to Doze.
So far I'm very impressed with this one and am actually considering sticking to Android a bit longer as my plan was change my phone for an iPhone 7 when released as was getting really sick of the silly little Android bugs.
Got the OTA yesterday. XT1092.

try using chromium or cm browser no lag at all on those I'm running a Brazilian 1097 twrp backup from last month on my 1095. No lag in the system but terrible with chrome. using those browsers solved my issue.
Chromium is it the same as Chrome Dev?
not only chrome many apps shows lag like instagram whatsapp facebook side scrolling phonograph(too much) .
try chrome dev or chrome beta, the animation stutter on the 3 dot menu bar on top right is not there on the beta and dev version.
also if you turn on moto voice from settings>accesibility, chrome will go berserk and start lagging more and switching it off makes it normal again.i dont know why this is happening, anyhow i already reported this on moto forums

I don't think so....
not yet. Android auto has been very buggy for me. Random disconnect, several times i have to reboot the phone to get it to recognize the phone. Lately I noticed on the maps if I just keep it up while driving it starts looking weird and distorted so I have to back out of it then back in.
Android Auto has been a mess for a year. When I first used it back in early 2017 on 7.1.1. it was working perfect. Then a few issues with 7.1.2. Now 8.0 and 8.1 its not reliable.

Not yet. Android auto has been unreliable since 7.1.1. I have to reboot to get it to read the phone, random disconnects......my cord is fine. Most recently the maps start getting glitchy and pixelated after 15 minutes and i have to back out and go back in. Just been full of bugs and unreliable in the last 12 months.
Back in early 2017 on 7.1.1. I found it to work quite well, not so much anymore.
The update won't go out until the first Monday of the month.

i did not. It's listed on your signature. That was the only phone I considered other than Pixel 2 however I have CDMA so I cannot use One Plus, but that was the only other Android phone I'd consider if I bought one.

New baseband?
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL include Pixel Visual Core, Google's first custom imaging chip that allows for HDR+ quality pictures in third-party apps like Instagram and Snapchat. But Pixel 2 users haven't been able to take advantage of those capabilities because the co-processor hasn't been enabled. Well, they'll be able to soon because Google announced today that it's turning on Pixel Visual Core, bringing the HDR+ technology that's been available through the Pixel 2's main camera app to other photography, social media or camera apps.
Pixel Visual Core uses computational photography and machine learning to boost image quality in third-party apps that allow users to take photos. Now that it's enabled, Pixel 2 users can just take a pic in another app, and Pixel Visual Core will automatically make it brighter, more detailed and clearer. You can check out a before and after above.
Google says the update that will switch on Pixel Visual Core is rolling out over the next few days along with other software improvements. Additionally, new winter sports-themed AR stickers should be available later this week.

I received the latest update of Oreo last night, hopefully it fixed the battery drain of the April update.
I get frustrated as well with Samsung's slow upgrade path but I have the Pixel 2XL as well as the Note 8 but the Note is better in so many ways.
Say what you will about the Samsung UI, it is pretty well though out, and you don't need to download separate apps to do the things you take for granted in the Note.
Build quality of the Note is vastly superior to the Pixel IMO.

Are you still opted-in to the beta program? I had to opt my Pixel 2 out to receive the October OTA.

Never been. Until September I used to get them regularly.

Why not sideload the OTA image? No reset necessary like with factory images.

Maybe I will do that. I was expecting a flawless transition from OTA to OTA.

Are you with T-Mobile? They have their own update process even for Google phones, so OTAs are delayed. If I hadn't manually installed September's security update, I'd still be on August myself. Frustrating.

Well, that eliminates the T-Mobile factor. A quick Google search for Vodafone issues with Pixel 2 OTA times only returns a few results. Not sure what would explain the delay - perhaps a staged rollout?
Sorry for the noob question but only ever done an OTA update before OTA. The file is 1.1gb which I am sure is significantly larger than a usual monthly update, is this correct please? Download it in Chrome then update it?

Anyone on UK Unlocked got the update? I'm still on September patch and it says I'm up to date.
Awesome, thanks. This worked for me.

This also solved it for me!
I'm still stuck on the August patch level here. I'm in the UK on the Three network and I've never been enrolled in the beta programme.
I flashed the Android P factory image via Deuce's script in August (including a userdata wipe), and then I rooted with Magisk.
My phone has been saying "Your system is up to date" ever since. I didn't receive any notification for the September update, nor do I have one for the October update.
I know I could just sideload the updates but I was hoping I'd eventually get the OTA notification so that I could test Magisk's ability to preserve root after an OTA. It doesn't look like I'll ever get the chance...
Both my wife and I have a Pixel 2 and she received the October Update back on Oct 3rd. As of this morning I still hadn't received it.. Saw your comment, realized I was still opted in (my wife doesn't install any betas) so I opted out and almost immediately afterwards got the update
Thanks !!

Yup. It seems stupid that they leave people opted-in after the programme ends (since it doesn't roll over to the next beta anyway) and that affects the distribution of OTAs. But this is Google.
BTW after not having a single crash in a year my phone has restarted twice since this update. Have others had that experience?
