Transferring account info and apps from OnePlus 3T - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

This is frustrating!
I have just purchased a Samsung galaxy s7 edge and am trying to transfer all my apps, accounts and settings to it.
For whatever reason when I set the phone up (UK exynos version) it does not show any of my devices?
I tried using the smartswitch app from the playstore but it is not available for the oneplus 3 devices?????
Has anyone swapped from a Oneplus 3 or 3t to an S7 Edge successfully and if so would you mind sharing how you did it.?? Thanks.

Anyone have an idea.

Because the Os is different the best you can do is to back up the apps using a program like titanium pro or system tuner pro on your phone. Then copy the back upped directory to your computer.
Download back up program you used to your phone, then recopy the directory on to your new phone.
then download the app and go to your back up program and click restore data.
you cannot use the apps as configured on your oneplus because the file structure and the way it is used is different from the OS used on samsung.
The best you can hope for is the data is transferred to your new phone.

Samsung Link

Does anyone know how I can put Samsung Link on my Galaxy S5? All Galaxy models have had it (it was once called Allshare), but this app is one of the main reasons why I've stuck with Samsung products. Not only for the auto backup to my desktop PC whenever I snap a picture or record a video (I can still set that up through just about any cloud service, but it still requires the extra step of downloading it onto my PC), but I use it extensively when I'm traveling. If I need a file or document, porn, etc from one of my PCs at home, Samsung Link allows me to access all of my registered devices remotely and download the file no matter where I am. It also allows me to stream video to any of my Samsung TVs in the house. I know I can do this through other apps, but Samsung Link allowed me to do all of these. This is probably the only app from Samsung that I've used on a daily basis since owning my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. AT&T is my service provider, and I bet they took this app off their phones before loading it up with their stuff.

On my T-Mo version Samsung Link Platform, the prerequisite to run Link, has been pre-installed, I doubt ATT would mess with Samsung's core apps.
See if this works for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.pcw
I get not compatible on this device. . I also tried installing the apk from some random site, and I keep getting link fcs
Anyone help with this?
Am not seeing this too. Why?
Just an FYI, I installed the omega rom and seems they have the framework already, and link works fine now

How can I copy all my data from a Galaxy S7 edge to a Galaxy S7?

Hey guys
I tried to 'clone' my Galaxy S7 edge to a Galaxy S7, the on board copy tool after startup did only copy a few, I miss basic things (wallpaper settings, app logins and more)
What is the best way to copy all the data from one Android to another?
Thanks for your help
Oli
Try Smart Switch. I used it to restore everything from my s5 into my s7 edge. The only way I could get it to work right was to create the backup into my sdcard on my s5 and then put it into my s7 edge to restore with Smart Switch. You won't be able to restore 3rd party app data with it though. That means app logins will not be backed up. Everything Google and samsung related will restore just fine.

+1 for Smart Switch but it is not a full "clone" program. You need to transfer 3rd party app data such as games, whatsapp history etc manually.

The main question here is why would you go from S7 Edge to S7?
Probably for the smaller screen. S7 Edge seems just to big for some people.
Officially Smart Switch.
If your Rooted and SD Card, Titanium backup.
You can backup, Account, Messages, Wallpaper, Settings, Ringtones, Applications, Applications saved Data.
You name it, this can back it up, Install it on both Devices, Backup the S7 Edge to SD Card
Take out the SD Card, Put it in your S7.
Search for the Backup folder in Titanium settings, and restore.
If you are not rooted there is similar apps to titanium that i work without root method.
This will at least allow some additional data and applications to be copied over that would otherwise be ignored
To answer the most important question first : Yes, smaller screen and I dont like the edge hardware design, I constantly touch the screen..
Thanks for your ideas! But that sounds a bit unpleasant compared to what I am used from iOS.. There is no possibility to move all the data from one phone to another..? I mean, properly
The Apps are not the most important things, I would have liked to have the same App's on my screen again, same Mail accounts, settings..

There are applications on the store that will get everything you want.
most apps take Priorty information, Contacts, messages Images etc etc
Titanium backup will do EVERYTHING you possibility want.
You only get the full features if Rooted.
If you are not, there are applications like MyBackup pro i used to use before Rooting.
I know there has been many other applications over the year that have done this.
But as others have stated, what happened with Smart Switch, Samsung App should do all this.
I can backup my entire device
(System Apps, User Apps)
Wallpapers, Ringtones, Accounts Added, Messages Rules ,Blocked numbers.
All your settings
This app does more than what you are able to do to transferring content between Iphone to iphone.
Its not that complicated neither, i can backup my entire system in 5 minutes.
Happy to help or guide you through it if you want.
Thanks Dave, would you try Smart Switch or MyBackup pro first? I'll try this that weekend in that case
I am not rooted yet, but I want to since I always had jailbroken my iOS devices.. But I decided to do one by one

Try Smart Switch first
(This is Samsung Official Application, They Prided them-self in this release, its a all in one suit to move your content from one device to another - Specific for the job you want)
If Smart Switch Fails, Try MyBackup Pro:

Pro version is paid for.

[Q] Using Helium to restore apps and data? Keep getting errors.

So since I cant use TB right now. I am trying to use Helium to restore from my Galaxy S6 to my S8.
I already did smart switch to get the core around, but of course as expected it didnt do all my apps since some arent on play store. So now am trying to restore from my Helium backup, but many times it gets stuck on a restore for an app.
So just wondering, how else is everyone getting around all this? Thanks.
try again.
force stop the app on both devices and try again(make sure you do a sync, they're easier and more stable than backup-restore)
the backup process can be a bit unstable, some apps took several tries for me.
also good to know, running apps can't be transferred.
so kill any app you plan on transferring.
and smart switch does sideloaded and discontinued apps too if you use a cable to do the transfer.

Had the same problem. The next day, I tried restoring one at a time and it worked. Then, I was able to restore the rest as a batch. I can't explain it.

Smart Switch doesnt do the app data tho. So even with side loading, Id still be missing the data.
Now as for the sync. Are you doing to internal storage or google drive?
I did try restoring some apps one by one, and "says" complete, but never is. Doesnt even show it installed. So rather odd.
Just know right now. I am lil annoyed without root for a simple process to backup apps and data and restoring. Reminds me of when I do a clean windows install.... 3 days worth of setting up again vs 1 click of Titanium Backup restore. >.<
i used sync.
sync sends the backup straight to your new phone, and can only be triggered from your new phone.
you select your old phone from the restore screen, choose an app, and it will make a backup and sends it to your new phone, which then immediately installs it.
I can't get Helium to work on my S8+ at all. It says it restores apps and data, but the app is never installed. Tried one app at a time, everything. Helium worked fine going from my Note 4 to Note 7, then to my replacement Note 7, then from my Note 7 to my S7E. But from my S7E to my S8+ - it does not work. PITA and there are several apps I REALLY needed to migrate data.
did you try installing the app through the play store or smart switch first?
I didn't have any real issues, but I did go through smart switch first.
Anyone figure out the solution???? Please post

Would be nice if I knew how "sync" mode worked. All I get from the restore/sync list under my devices is "An error occured while retrieving your device list"
I can't get Helium to recognize that the S8 is in PTP mode. Even when it is, Helium states that the phone is in MTP mode. Anyone else experiencing this problem with Helium and their Galaxy S8 Plus?
Same issue with helium, it restores everything but then the apps simply aren't there.
I've tried everything to make Helium work - still says apps installed, but they never do. Surely there has to be an answer to this riddle.
Same here. No luck on data / settings being restored
Anyone have any updates or other solutions we can use? Helium devs never responded back to me.. so I feel like I just wasted 5$ on them.
Maybe time to give a one star rating for them on the playstore until they address the issue.

Is sync part of Smart Switch or Helium? Forgive me if question is obvious but since thread is about Helium, just wanted to make sure you are referring to a feature of SmartSwitch
Thanks
it's a feature in helium.
i don't know exactly how the devices find each other, but in my restore screen i can see my old phone as a source and if i select it i can choose from almost any app currently installed on my old phone and have it start a backup on the old phone that immediately restores on my S8.
it is far more reliable than backup to cloud for me.

Sync doesn't work for me. I have an error,
An error occurred while retrieving your device list. Getting this on both the new SO and the source phone.
Any secrets to getting the device to list? I am running the latest version of Helium.
Sync doesn't work with the S8. I do believe it was an option when I went from my Note 4 to my Note 7, then from my first Note 7 to my second Note 7, and also available from my second Note 7 to my S7E back in early February. But there is something not allowing sync between devices on Helium and the S8/S8+. So synicing isn't an option when the phones are not being "seen" as being available to sync. As others have said, there is an error message saying phones aren't available or something similar.

Migrate Pixel 3 to Pixel 4 w/o source device - Backup?

Hello everybody, I have sold my pixel 3, but I will get my pixel 4 at the end of the week. How can I migrate my apps + settings as completely as possible? Does the Google-Drive-Backup do anything for me? 3rd party apps? Pixel 3 is not unlocked and not rooted, Pixel 4 will not be either.
Thanks!
Jens

You could try something like Swift Backup, I use it quite often and seems to work well
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.swiftapps.swiftbackup
It should be same thing as a factory reset.
You will have to select the last backup made by you, and that backup will contains list of app to be installed, wifi networks, sms, wallpaper, some app settings (like Pixel launcher, with your icon locations), etc.
As for the "files" I recommend to copy them to a PC, clean what you don't need, and then copy back to the Pixel 4.

If you can hold off on sending the P3 to the buyer that would be your best option. You connect the two devices and almost everything, including text, pics etc. are copied to the new device. If you can't do that then Google backup is kind of ok. You'll get a bunch of stuff but not text messages and a few other settings. There you can use sms backup or some other program. Good suggestion copying stuff you want to your computer too just in case. Logins and passwords are not copied over in either case, you'll need to set those up again or use autofill. I also sold my P3 but had transferred everything over to my 3a for DSDS. I'll have the P4 next week and will then sell the 3a or keep it as a backup device depending on what I can get for it. Good luck, I think you made a good decision but we'll find out soon enough.

Back up WITHOUT ROOTING the app and its settings on Samsung S10 Plus

Good Morning.
Someone indicates a way to back up WITHOUT ROOTING the app and its settings on
Samsung S10 Plus?
I wanted a typical solution for the backup of iPhones made by iTunes.
The Samsung App does not back up the app settings.
Because I have many bank and government apps installed.
I found a Helium Backup but I haven't tested it yet. If he's really good as they say, why don't we find a lot of things about him on the Internet?
Thank you very much in advance,
I used smart switch. You can also use it on your PC to backup your phone to PC.
