Had that happen to me. Goto Messages App. Top right settings, then More Settings, Then text messages, then Message center. Make sure theres a phone number there. Thats the ATT phone number for text. If you dont add this +13123149810 you must have the + sign also. Hope that helps

My calls are not good at all. It would be on 4G then drop back down to edge to make a call.

Ya that happened to me as well. Just went missing. Thats how i found out the missing number. Was comparing all my settings to my daughters s7 edge.

Similar thing happened to me, I was receiving text messages ok, but could not send them out. The AT&T number at the message center was there correctly. (+3123149810) If it happens to you, go to your APN settings and make sure all MMS Port numbers are input correctly, mine were missing, for some strange reason. All good now.

A Bit Confused Re SMS and WiFi

I'm currently forced to use WiFi instead of data to access the internet. Since I'm now leaving WiFi on all the time, I can no longer send SMS messages. And I'm not sure I'm receiving them. Is that normal? Is there some sort of setting I need to change? Or is this the old SMS bug from the past?
Thanks.
-Bob-
Pretty sure you have to have data access to send SMS, as it's phone number based, so phone service is required.
there shouldn't be a problem sending and receiving txts when wifi is on.I surf over wifi all day long with no phone issues.

The strange thing is that NOW I'm receiving and able to send with wi-fi on.
Guess I'll have to turn on "Request delivery report" for now and hope I receive my messages.
It's odd that after 3 months, I've suddenly experienced the dreaded SMS bug.
BTW, can anyone tell me how to access the out box to see if the unsent messages are there?
-Bob-
on the messaging tab,
all messages - menu - settings - traditional mode. makes it easier to switch between in and out box etc.
the outbox usually keeps the messages those could not be sent ... if there 're any of it so ur suppose is ture..and i think there is a number u can define to send a message...not sure about hd2 but xperia x1 my phone automatically get the config...

Well...no unsent messages!? The "Sent Items" shows all my messages as having been sent, but I know they weren't received. Now I'm starting to wonder if there isn't some user error on my part.

I agree.
SMS was never designed to be instantaneous, and networks will argue this case.
Wait a few days beforehand, then ask your network provider if they do not appear, it may be a 'stuck' SMS in the network's system causing issues.
I've known a text message to take 363 days to arrive...

The messages that I sent at 8:00 this morning, that were not received, suddenly flooded into the recipient's phones at 11:00. Since they weren't sitting on my phone, as far as I could tell, I guess T-Mobile was hanging on to them. Odd. That's never happened before.

[Q] Played with network options... No texts anymore

Hi,
I have a Samsung Vibrant. As I'm in Australia, I was playing around trying to connect to another frequency via *#*#4636#*#* > Phone information. I set it to AUS and backed out (pretty sure that's all I did). Then I couldn't send any texts .... at all. Failed.
I switched back to Automatic frequency - no difference....
I have re-falshed the OS with Odin, both with the most recent 2.1 release and also with one that is supplied on the xda post "OFFICIAL T-Mo Vibrant JFD ODIN/Nandroid Backup Images" (I'm not allowed to post links) (I've still got this one installed right now). Both made absolutely no difference.
I deleted all user data... no difference.
Now I have a stock phone entirely, that will not send any text messages.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Andrew
I've noticed that SMSC is blank - I tried to set it to the right number: +61411990001, but it just returns 'update error'. So I tried 0411990001. It didn't 'do' anything, but didn't return an error. It disappeared when I backed out and came back in. it didn't fix the problem.
Is there a trick to updating the SMSC that I've missed? It seems likely to be the error??
there is also no information in 'Your Phone number', and I recall that the default way to access voicemail never worked because of 'no voicemail number on the sim card'...... does this all add up to my sim card not having the correct default information? Is there a way to fix this?
....help

Here are a few tips:
1 in mobile settings click apn and make sure there is a green circle on thee right of the name for your apn. If not just tap on the circle once and out should turn green.
2 in mobile settings, click automatic network discovery then try step 1 again
3 open mms app, press menu and go to settings. Make sure auto retrieve is checked.
Let me know if this works or not.

@crazy25000: Thanks heaps, that led me in the right direction to correct the texting issue. I had no apn at all - no options and had to add it manually. I'm not sure that it worked, but perhaps. I did get to the right settings menu to fix the smsc number though, which is great.
I still feel like my sim card is not quite right - there seems to be no default data for the carrier on the sim.
Immediate problem solved though. thanks again.
i have done the same thing while fiddling with my vibrant. sms wont send because the gateway # is blank . what i did was pop it in a friends iphone and type **5005*7672*61411990001#
(61411990001 is optus smsc # yours may be different)
then i put it back in my vibrant and viola!
altho i still cant send or recieve mms..

Glad to great it's slowly getting resolved. If you don't have an apn, click on automatic network discovery in mobile settings and it will automatically generate the correct apn for your carrier. Keep me posted because this it's relatively easy to resolve so don't stress

go into your messaging program. go into menu - settings. scroll down to "message center" if there is no number then google the SMSC number for your provider. put it in and it should work again.
good luck!

happened to me a few days ago; was on the road and it drove me crazy that I could receive but not reply to or send SMS. just had flashed a new rom and that might have been the reason. had to search for a while in XDA until I found this easy solution....
glad it worked for you as well.

Cannot receive MMS (Cyanogen) Not APN problem..

I have been having this problem for 6 months, finally its annoyed me to the point of asking for more help. If i take my SIM out of my phone and put it in my wifes, i can get picture messages no problem. if the SIM is in my s4 then i cannot. i will get an error message half our later saying message could not be downloaded.
I have verified my APN information, it matches exactly with what telus says it should be, and with what it on my wifes phone. Ive also talked to telus who couldnt do anything more to help me. everything is good on their end, and like i said it works when my sim is in my wifes phone, and we have the same APN settings.
I would love to be able to get pictures in texts, everyone sends them to me and i can never view them.
another issue is that i canont send picture messages unless i turn off wi-fi. if i dont it wont send and will eventually come back saying ti could not send. if wifi is off, sends no problem. i dont so much care about this one, but if anyone knows...
Thanks in advance!
anyone?

Make sure mobile data is enabled and/or you have your messaging app set to automatically download/enable data for downloads or whatever. MMS can only be sent over mobile data and sometimes it needs to be enabled manually to send and recieve.
Hehe GUI setting is not going to solve your problem, can you attach your /system/csc/customer.xml file please, I know exactly what's your problem m8

App Tweakker Play Store luck...:good:
Two different things have made this happen for me.
1. Adblock plus app
-made mms not with at all
2. Turning on the text with Google hangouts when you initially setup your phone.
-when turned on, messed up all my mms
Check these, how this helps

sms issues sprint?

Is anyone else having issues receiving SMS and MMS on Sprint network. I also purchased me phone from Sprint. I am currently on software NMJ32F. I have reset network settings, and factory reset. I have updated PRL and Profile. I have pulled the Sim and reseated it. I have done everything I can think of any suggestions? Phone calls work perfectly fine. Just receiving messages is not working. Data works fine.
I have Sprint but the device is an unlocked model. Haven't had any issues but I'd say you've done everything you can. Take it to a Sprint store and make a stink until they replace the device.

That is the weird thing. I have texted myself and it works. I guess i should have added that this is happening for me for all non sprint friends and family. if they have sprint everything is okay just not if they are with another carrier.
Sprint is having texting problems with this phone and has acknowledged it. They have identified the problem and testing a fix.
The problem identified is repeatedly receiving the same text and not receiving newer ones. If you aren't receiving anything at all, I'd get in touch with support. It could be a provisioning problem.

I've been having this problem, especially not receiving mms messages and duplicate sms messages. They periodically get stuck, and the only way to fix is to get on a chat with support and have them refresh my network connection with the phone off and send a text message. I use Google voice so I can see sms messages in the voice app but know if something is wrong if I don't get a message in the messaging app.

I'm with Sprint too and my settings may or may not working for you because of the location differences but you can try... You never know!
