[Q] Call recording on the LG G6 H870 and H870ds - LG G6 Questions and Answers

After owning and successfully using 2way call recording on LG G2 and LG G4, both with call recorder by Skvalex. I hope my LG G6 (H870ds) that is arriving this week, will also be able to record.
I did read somewhere that call recording is supported on unrooted LG G6s.
Has anyone tried call recording on the G6 yet, if so, what app are you using and what is the quality like?
Cheers,
Oliver
<<UPDATE>>
I am please to confirm, that call recording worked flawlessly out of the box. I switched between speakerphone and regular call also flawlessly.
Here is my test recording...
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9O...w?usp=drivesdk
I used the "Call Recorder" app by skyalex on default settings for a LG G6, apparently other apps will also work.
https://callrecorder.skvalex.com/faq
Any questions, just ask ?
<</UPDATE>>

I have H870 model, there is no built-in call recording functionality.
I use Automatic Call Recorder , the free version gets the job done.

Apparently this will be one of the added features of the next big OS update, along with a low power mode and a few other things.

H870DS V10c-TWN-XX, no issues with Boldbeast. I think, skvalex would be fine, too, but this license is installed on one of my other phones.

Are you serious!? That's great.
I thought legal issues would make that impossible!

I can't seem to find the source now, but I'm certain that's what was said as I also remember questioning the legal implications here in Europe.

I got really excited any Google it, sadly it wasn't listed as a feature on the next android O os. Not on the page I found anyway.
I think in the UK it is pretty legal to record calls, sharing the call afterwards is where things get blurred.
With Europe, Asia, America everywhere realy, it's probably easier just to make people find aftermarket solutions.
I read once that Asian phones sometimes allow call recording out of the box and this is an expected feature in South Korea. I believe the south Korean version of the galaxy S3 did. That could be wrong.

I own Meizu MX6 with Flyme OS, both their firmwares (global and asia) have built-in call recording.

@bigoliver
When it comes to talk about working call recording, those legal discussions are always started by dumb as **** Germans (sorry, that I am german, too...), please ignore this.

it was in context that Chinese manufactures don't care much about EU regulations concerning call-recording.

I don't care about your phone, however, I do care about your opinion on call recording.

[Q] Snapdragon 800 Voice activation

Hi, so i am concerned of the Voice Activation of the Snapdragon 800 .I just can't find people online talk about it. So can anybody help me? Thanks so much:laugh:
Is there any Voice Activation built into the G2??
It works on mine just like it did on my ole gnex .. I don't use it much though
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
I didn't even know...
How does one activate it?
And, more importantly, how does one shut it off?
?? That would be something I have never heard off before for g2.

I just tried to use "Voice Mate" and it's not responsive at all...
Is it possible to replace it with Google Now or the Moto X's voice activation?

Well, I'll be.... I really liked that feature on the droid maxx, but didn't want to get a substandard handset to get it.
Well well what a surprise. It does actually exist. =) need to play around with it some more. It was one if the first thing I ignored when I got the phone since I found it to be gimmicky.

Was playing with it yesterday. Surprisingly it works pretty well
I am actually interested in the "Always On" voice activation ala the Moto x so the phone can be spoken to while asleep and then taps into Googles voice commands. This was demoed by the Snapdragon folks using Hello Snapdragon command I believe
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Played with it a bit and couldn't find a way to make it useful. It also doesn't work with nova home screen but works well on lock screen. So off it goes for now.
-LG G2
It only works on the lock screen, which really isnt voice activation like motoX or droids, I might as well swipe up and open google now and just ask google. Id want it to work with the phone/screen off
Pretty sure that the snapdragon 800 has a voice processor physically built in similar to the moto x that can listen for keywords even while in standby. I just think its not being fully utilized by lg in the same way as motorola. It might be possible for apps in the future to configure it. Please correct me if I'm wrong
No disrespect to anyone here, but this implementation of the feature is a joke.

That's correct. It's physically built into the chip. The manufacturers just have to access it. Works on standby so that it's always listening even when on standby and the processor is idle.

That's because lg didn't tale advantage of the feature at all. What you all are talking about with voice mate is the use thing the s4 does with svoice. What the s800 has is the ability to be in always listen mode like the motoX. Except neither Samsung (with the note 3) nor lg coded for it. So the top feature of the s800 is t used by any OEM as of right now

I can't get it to launch via hotword. I don't remember if I turned it on or where to find the on/off. Anyone?
Ok, I found it. So, I guess you can't launch the voice search. You have to be in either voice mate or google now before it recognizes yhe hotwords. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, apparently only the G3 (possibly only the Verizon variant) was affected by this. It's a shame, I love CM.
I should clarify, it will wake when double tapped but the proximity sensor will not keep the screen off if covered and tapped. This leads to endless pocket-wakes.

Does the V20 support 3G video call with Samsung phones?

Hi to anyone with a V20 now.
Could you please tell me if the V20 supports 3G Video Calls? I am referring to the one that you dial directly with the dialer, not through third party apps like Skype or Facebook messenger.
Refer to the attached image here.
If it's not too much trouble, does it connect with Samsung Galaxy users?

I see. Have you tried using video call with a Samsung Galaxy phone on the other end?
I chatted with my wife and she has a S7E
Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk
Is that 3g video calling? Do you have build.prop file of your phone to send me to compare? I'm on LG V30+, but somehow don't have 3g video calling button in dialer like you all have. My carrier support 3g video calling, but doesn't support neither volte, vowifi, and hd video call. It works on samsung devices, but on mine lg doesn't appear button in dialer, or anything in settings
Anyone? And if you have root on v30, can you send me two things: one folder (you can send me like zip file), which is in path /OP/OPEN_EU (or in my case OPEN_AME_DS, or whatever is folder name of your phone); and build.prop file? I really want that video calling in dialer

Definitely replacement worthy for my note 7

I've been really upset that I need to turn in my perfectly fine note 7. I was having really tough time deciding which phone to get and this Mi Mix really got me excited. Now I will turn in my note 7 for this in a heart beat.
I will be in China next week. Hopefully my friend who owns a cell phone still will be able to get one for me when I get there. Now I am even more excited about my trip lol

Looks like it'll support T-Mobile.
It is supposed to come out November 4th in limited numbers. I will get it for T-Mobile just to experience it if importing won't double the cost. The cameras and screen are nothing like the Note 7 though (same is true for the Mi Note 2, which is curved but still has a 1.5mm bezel on each side of the screen, so there's no borderless effect at all).
No band 12? That's going to be a hard pill to swallow in regards to certain areas, including my office.

They had me until I didn't see Band 12 on there. I need band 12 for my office also. Regardless, its such a nice phone and has great specs, so tempting. Let's see what Huawei has up their sleeves with the Mate 9 next week.
The phone is running Snapdragon 821, so in hardware it supports all LTE bands. Software is a different story. Some Xiaomi phones have been successfully unlocked, others overwrite nvram values on boot which has been an issue. The interest of this phone will probably fuel development work. The Mi Note 2 was released with the Mi Mix and it supports most LTE bands so it's possible that files/code from the Mi Note 2 might help in unlocking the Mi Mix. I'm hopeful!
I was sad about the note 7 I ended up jumping on the iPhone 7 promos T-Mobile was having and I deeply regret it hahaha I miss android selling my iPhone 7plus and jumping on this boat this phone is beautiful
Finally I was able to get one

Image quality is a bit better than my z5 premium but not the S7 edge.
In call quality is on par with S7 edge both in ear and speakerphone.
The display is great in terms of color, viewing angle. The best feature I like the most is u can choose display color temp better warm, standard or cold.
The built quality is very premium in the hand, the best one I have had since oppo 7 and Huawei Mate 8

LG-H990 has no 3G Video Calls

Just got my phone a few hours ago. Model number is H990
It appears to be a different variant. One that doesn't support 3G Video Call, despite screenshots by you guys showing that it did. Disappointed by the lack of this feature.
Not blaming you guys. Just bewildered by the lack of information over this.

Thanks for your info.
I'll go back and check again. The phone isn't with me now.
Still nothing. I'm going to do a factory reset. See if it works.

Your version is H990DS(Singapore) or H990N(Hong Kong)....
This maybe the deference between 2 devices and of course the most serious is that H990N is Lte 6 but H990DS is LTE 9...
And they are both dual sim....

Wait. Is that video call or conference call?
Someone here from the US sent this screenshot. The video call icon looked like this. Clearly a video camera icon. And he claims it works with his wife using S7 Edge.

It's video call, I also have video call adjustment in the call settings, it depends on what theme you use.
I see.
Sigh. Really looks like my model doesn't feature video calls then. :/

I just bought the Taiwan version and I also do not have video call which baffles my mind on why they left it out, maybe it is in developer options to turn on? I have been trying to find it hidden in some kind of settings with no luck, I hope someone in here can figure it out. Now I can use other apps for video calling like hangouts or Viber but the phone should have it in there anyway.
Well, that blows. Thanks for letting us know. Hopefully, someone can point you in the right direction to get it working.

Btw, I got my unit from Singapore.

My korean h990ds too doesn't have video call option (advanced call not there either)
I am no longer owning this phone. Traded in and got myself a Galaxy S7 Flat. Good luck to everyone.
