Definitely replacement worthy for my note 7 - Xiaomi Mi MIX Guides, News, & Discussion

I've been really upset that I need to turn in my perfectly fine note 7. I was having really tough time deciding which phone to get and this Mi Mix really got me excited. Now I will turn in my note 7 for this in a heart beat.
I will be in China next week. Hopefully my friend who owns a cell phone still will be able to get one for me when I get there. Now I am even more excited about my trip lol

Grats and do tell us when you get it.

I am not sure about att since their LTE is mostly band 28, 700 which this phone doesn't support. U will get LTE in some area but not full support.
Right now it seems like it's easier to get the phone if you have someone in China

Slap on Google launcher then it's perfect lol. Don't like the stock launcher without app drawer

Here's the LTE compatibility chart for this phone. No 700 for ATT

Looks like it'll support T-Mobile.

It is supposed to come out November 4th in limited numbers. I will get it for T-Mobile just to experience it if importing won't double the cost. The cameras and screen are nothing like the Note 7 though (same is true for the Mi Note 2, which is curved but still has a 1.5mm bezel on each side of the screen, so there's no borderless effect at all).

No band 12? That's going to be a hard pill to swallow in regards to certain areas, including my office.

They had me until I didn't see Band 12 on there. I need band 12 for my office also. Regardless, its such a nice phone and has great specs, so tempting. Let's see what Huawei has up their sleeves with the Mate 9 next week.

The phone is running Snapdragon 821, so in hardware it supports all LTE bands. Software is a different story. Some Xiaomi phones have been successfully unlocked, others overwrite nvram values on boot which has been an issue. The interest of this phone will probably fuel development work. The Mi Note 2 was released with the Mi Mix and it supports most LTE bands so it's possible that files/code from the Mi Note 2 might help in unlocking the Mi Mix. I'm hopeful!

I was sad about the note 7 I ended up jumping on the iPhone 7 promos T-Mobile was having and I deeply regret it hahaha I miss android selling my iPhone 7plus and jumping on this boat this phone is beautiful

Finally I was able to get one

thanks...once you get some use from this, please update if you can about
1) the camera
2) in-call sound/calling experience (lot of messages on have to place face next to screen always during call etc) - also in-call volume
3) how is the display especially in ambient light? and viewing angles color shifts brightness shifts?
Camera reviews were confusing/mixed...
will be very much appreciated!

Image quality is a bit better than my z5 premium but not the S7 edge.
In call quality is on par with S7 edge both in ear and speakerphone.
The display is great in terms of color, viewing angle. The best feature I like the most is u can choose display color temp better warm, standard or cold.
The built quality is very premium in the hand, the best one I have had since oppo 7 and Huawei Mate 8

Quick question for others about cam that have tried. How are your pics in gallery zoomed in? Mine seems to be blotchy, almost impressionistic when zooming in on taken shots, I thought there was an effect on at first. Worried at the moment as have tested in various light settings. Will post when i get a chance
Edit: seems to be a "raising of expectations" effect. I will test tomorrow in better light. Compared to my note 2 it is winning out by far in low light, which was my test at first
Slesh, have you moved on to the s5? My biggest complaint on the note 2 is the low light capabilities. I'll be interested to hear how this pans out with the camera. I've been due an upgrade for months but just haven't been won over really with any of the new releases..

last night did side by sides with Note 2 and s5 in low light, S5 blew it out of the water. At first I was upset at clarity of s5 in a certain lighting, then tried Note 2 in same scene and saw it was pitch black in that area by comparison. Was like a night vision difference. There still seems however to be a blotchiness/effect it seems going on in pics when I zoom in on the the pics. But it might just be me

I called T-Mobile couple of days ago and tech told me that "theoretically" unlocked PRIV on T-Mobile's network may also get AAD442 update that you got. I am currently on AAD250 with January security patch. Hope that this updates will also be available for factory unlocked PRIV devices because T-Mobile fixed couple of issue contained here: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-24554
I'm thinking of getting one today I'm a little worried about some of the negative reviews I've read. Currently have a 6 edge plus but want something different I'm tired of samsung
I've had almost every device out there except the new LG. As you know, devices are all based on personal preference. You need to determine what your highest priority is and then go from there. My top priority is battery strength. I am on the road in and out of meetings, so it is hard for me to charge during the day. I still haven't found a great great device in that regard. My next priority is the camera to take pictures of my kids. So far, the BlackBerry in the almost 24 hours that I've had it, has been great in both respects. My last device, the Nexus 6P, camera was not very impressive. Although, with marshmallow, the battery on the 6P is really good. But the Priv has lived up to all of the hype thus far. Feel free to ask any questions or a comparison of any device, as I mentioned I have had most all of the flagship devices.
Pick one up at t-mobile today as well. Miss having a fingerprint reader. The pkb is better then I expected according to reviews. I know battery life will get better.
After wanting to check one out for a while I was able to play with one at a t-mobile store. I ended up buying one, there said they only had 2 in stock so I said what the hell. I am impressed by the build quality and am getting used to a physical keyboard again. I need to dig deeper into the blackberry specific features to really get the most of it but my initial impression is positive.

I just ordered one B&H I figured the unlocked should be the same as the tmobile variant and this was I saved a ton in taxes. I have the S6 edge now but have been with Samsung since the nexus. But I missed the good old blackberry keyboard. I tried in an att store b/c no one else had one on display. I did think the old bb keyboards were better. Can't wait till tomorrow.
Sent from my SM-G925T using Tapatalk
With no root in sight, I went in and just disabled all the TMo apps. There are 4 I believe. Really boosted my battery life. I went from about 5-6 hours to 11-12 hours, both with moderate use. So if your having battery issues, give it a try. Oh and my phone no longer gets hot either.
Sent from my STV100-1 using XDA Premium HD app
Disabling all the bloatware was the first thing I did because I noticed a major drain with the Tmobile app.
As for having a fingerprint scanner for that quick unlock of the device... I haven't really missed it since I have an android wear watch. Smart lock has easily been my favorite feature of lollipop and on... so easy to stay mostly secure and be able to quickly unlock my device all throughout the day. I would highly suggest one for this reason!

Samsung’s software update policy is seriously messed up

It sucks
They don't care. It's all about the money.
Over the past couple of years their update policy has gotten much worse than it use to be.
Samsung seem to focus more on hardware than software & it's getting that way if you want the latest version of Android you got to buy their latest Smartphones.
Once the S7 is released in just over 3 weeks time, the S6 while still being one of the best smartphones out there even in 2016, will be all but forgotten & put on Samsung's back burner, you get 6.0.1 but don't expect anything else for a very long time after.
Marshmallow 6.1 is due out in the Summer the S7 will see this at some point, the S6 will have to wait until around early 2017.
Android N
The Note 6 will be the first to see this, the S7 will get it in 2017 probably after the S8 is launched, the S6 will probably still be waiting for Android 6.1.
Update suck big time. But i still enjoy holding the premium smartphone, vibrant 2k display, 35ms touch response, good cpu.
I wish to have cm 13 as daily driver, probably not gonna happen.
Loving 14nm Exynos 7420

I gave my s7 edge to the wife. My note 4 rooted is better battery and pimped to my liking. Too bad. That phone was gorgeous.
I used to root and flash a ton. For an experiment I tried using a stock ROM on my note 4. Found I didn't have anymore use for root and Roms and got used to it quick.
On the s7 I enjoy using Samsung pay since it uses a virtual card at the stores so when places like Target get hacked again, they won't have my real card number. And I can't use Samsung pay with root or Knox tripped.
Will get the note 7(6) when it comes out of it is water resistant and has a micro sd card slot.
Some people still enjoy flashing and rooting and that's cool. I just don't have the time anymore with work and raising a family.

Also evidently the Note 7 wont ship with Android N. just 6.0.1. These are all rumors or so called leaks but....hope it releases with flat screen option and Android N!
The Note series rarely, if ever launches with the most up to date Android. Since they launch almost in tandem, if not slightly before/after the official Android launch. Our 910T didn't get 5.0.1 until late April of the following year.

If they did not state screen burn in, in the description, return it. There are other Note 4's out there that are in great shape.
First, from the pic you posted, I can't see anything wrong with the screen. Maybe it's just not being picked up by the camera, or maybe I just can't see it (I do have my glasses on though), I don't know.
Second, it's a 3(?) year old phone at this point. If it's cosmetically in great condition, and it's still usable, and the screen issue (which again, I can't really see in the pic) isn't distracting while you're using it, then I say keep it. Especially if(?) you're just using it as a secondary/backup device.

I returned it. I bought a better one, but it has a pink tint/hue near the bottom half. Excellent conditio, though, not too much of a hindrance.

You do know the Note 4 has a fingerprint scanner, right?

We can't! We would have to see a picture of the screen taken by another device and even then the burn-in would have to be very significant in order for it to show up on a picture.

If you don't believe me try taking a picture of your device's homescreen with another device and see what happens.

Yes really! How a screenshot is supposed to show burn in issue, if there is any? It just snaps the content of the display, whatever is on it, not a hardware issue like screen burn in, cause its happening on the OLED panel!

LOL
Try to take it to samsung service center, they can replace it. Mine had terrible burn in, vertical thick yellow lines going up and down. But I was within warranty.
BUT! What you have in the First post picture looks like a replacement screen with poorly cured glue. Had one like that on LG G3 replacement China screen
