LG-H990 has no 3G Video Calls - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Just got my phone a few hours ago. Model number is H990
It appears to be a different variant. One that doesn't support 3G Video Call, despite screenshots by you guys showing that it did. Disappointed by the lack of this feature.
Not blaming you guys. Just bewildered by the lack of information over this.
Btw, I got my unit from Singapore.

I have this version and video call is available, on the phone dialing screen, you have a choice to make normal voice call or video call, there are two buttons at the bottom left, mine is the Hong Kong Version.

Thanks for your info.
I'll go back and check again. The phone isn't with me now.

Still nothing. I'm going to do a factory reset. See if it works.

Your version is H990DS(Singapore) or H990N(Hong Kong)....
This maybe the deference between 2 devices and of course the most serious is that H990N is Lte 6 but H990DS is LTE 9...
And they are both dual sim....

Wait. Is that video call or conference call?
Someone here from the US sent this screenshot. The video call icon looked like this. Clearly a video camera icon. And he claims it works with his wife using S7 Edge.

It's video call, I also have video call adjustment in the call settings, it depends on what theme you use.

I see.
Sigh. Really looks like my model doesn't feature video calls then. :/

I have mine too from Hong Kong and I can see Video Calling also at the dialer,,,,its just that the battery life is terrible

Can someone with the Taiwan version chime in here and let us know if that version has video call or not?
Thanks.

I just bought the Taiwan version and I also do not have video call which baffles my mind on why they left it out, maybe it is in developer options to turn on? I have been trying to find it hidden in some kind of settings with no luck, I hope someone in here can figure it out. Now I can use other apps for video calling like hangouts or Viber but the phone should have it in there anyway.

Well, that blows. Thanks for letting us know. Hopefully, someone can point you in the right direction to get it working.

My korean h990ds too doesn't have video call option (advanced call not there either)

I am no longer owning this phone. Traded in and got myself a Galaxy S7 Flat. Good luck to everyone.

[Q] Call recording gone in 4.4?

Is it true that Samsung have taken call recording out of the kernel in 4.4?
Is it the kind of thing a dev can bake into a custom kernel?
I'm still looking for automatic call recording to work in ML2 (without an app, natively)

Ok!
In Kitkat 4.4.2, with this procedure, you will see the 'rec'.
But, then, the recording turns out to be just an annoying noise!

Now I am watching any solution by rooting the phone just for this function.

i don't know why would you guys want to update to kitkat in a first place.. haven't you learned anything from samsung?
the only good firmware for our phones is the one it comes with.. every update after release in me experience only made the phone worse.
so i stick with 4.3 for a very long time.

Thanks for this. I guess I won't update!
For these have upgraded to 4.4. May choose mic as audio source and turn on speaker with max volume to record.
Given the problem of accessing ext sdcard and call recording, stick with 4.3 is the best option since nothing drastic improvement in 4.4.

Might be time to do a bounty for the first dev to crack it, I will throw $5 into the pot. already agreed to $25 on the knox one.
bloody kitkat has nothing great anyways, should have read all the posts!!!
- NTFS drives not working, cant mount - I think Civz kernel does work for 4.4.2
- Call recording not working at all, I need 2-way direct stream recording.
- Flash support is crap, only works on dolphin browser.
I would actually swap for a note2 at this point in time, mine was perfect, until it hard bricked the other day

If you use sms you will. I did a clean install and I get it less than I did on D but still do get the occasional double on E. Also if you have enhanced LTE disabled you won't have the issue.
I have enhanced LTE enabled. On D. Haven't received duplicate sms since T-Mobile was having issues last Friday. Weird.
So you guys are able to make volte phone calls?

Yes. It's awesome. HD voice when speaking to others on tmo with capable phone. Connection is instantaneous. My phone now stays on LTE 24/7 vs switching to 3G/H when making a cell phone call. My SMS has also been turbo and is as instant as hangouts. All this since flashing 47D build (I flashed 47E too but went back to D because of a delay/lag when pushing power button for screen to come on). Tmo

Hi. I have a question for you. I'm a Tmo user as well. Does your APN say "T-Mobile GPRS" or something like "T-Mobile VoLTE". Thanks. I'm have the GPRS APN, I have Enhanced 4G LTE Mode enabled but I am having issues with my WiFi and Data fluctuating a lot, many time I get no connection while both WiFi and Data is active but I get a "No data connection" which will last for about 30 seconds or so before kicking in. This is getting really annoying. Just want to know if others are having the same issue on 5.1 Again thanks.

Does the V20 support 3G video call with Samsung phones?

Hi to anyone with a V20 now.
Could you please tell me if the V20 supports 3G Video Calls? I am referring to the one that you dial directly with the dialer, not through third party apps like Skype or Facebook messenger.
Refer to the attached image here.
If it's not too much trouble, does it connect with Samsung Galaxy users?

I see. Have you tried using video call with a Samsung Galaxy phone on the other end?

Is that 3g video calling? Do you have build.prop file of your phone to send me to compare? I'm on LG V30+, but somehow don't have 3g video calling button in dialer like you all have. My carrier support 3g video calling, but doesn't support neither volte, vowifi, and hd video call. It works on samsung devices, but on mine lg doesn't appear button in dialer, or anything in settings
Anyone? And if you have root on v30, can you send me two things: one folder (you can send me like zip file), which is in path /OP/OPEN_EU (or in my case OPEN_AME_DS, or whatever is folder name of your phone); and build.prop file? I really want that video calling in dialer

[Q] Call recording on the LG G6 H870 and H870ds

After owning and successfully using 2way call recording on LG G2 and LG G4, both with call recorder by Skvalex. I hope my LG G6 (H870ds) that is arriving this week, will also be able to record.
I did read somewhere that call recording is supported on unrooted LG G6s.
Has anyone tried call recording on the G6 yet, if so, what app are you using and what is the quality like?
Cheers,
Oliver

I got really excited any Google it, sadly it wasn't listed as a feature on the next android O os. Not on the page I found anyway.
I think in the UK it is pretty legal to record calls, sharing the call afterwards is where things get blurred.
With Europe, Asia, America everywhere realy, it's probably easier just to make people find aftermarket solutions.
I read once that Asian phones sometimes allow call recording out of the box and this is an expected feature in South Korea. I believe the south Korean version of the galaxy S3 did. That could be wrong.
I own Meizu MX6 with Flyme OS, both their firmwares (global and asia) have built-in call recording.

FWIW, it's been reported that the Note 7 Wireless Charging Case isn't working either.
So, unless someone finds a hidden (dialer) menu/ADB command/etc..... to enable these cases, we're likely going to have to wait/hope for an update from Samsung.
Just my 2¢ here:
Samsung will likely never enable the functionality of these cases, even if the hardware supports it.
They want to distance themselves as far from the Note 7 brand name as possible, even though this phone gets 99% of its inspiration from it.
Perhaps they'll rebrand a case or two,if they actually have leftover stock from last year, who knows.

So there is no way to active the case? However, the lear view case is working.
@Tim007super
IDK,I don't have the clear case, I do have the window case, I'll try it out later, see if it's functional.
Hopefully someone who has the same LED Case as you will chime on w/positive results.....
Are you a not 7 or note fe user? I think clear view case is include in the note fe
Note FE,but,I mistakenly thought you were speaking of Note7 cases.....

On my KT Telecom Note FE (SM-N935K) ,the only accessory option I'm seeing is for fast wireless charging, nothing for any special case/covers.

Yes, when I put clear view cover on. The "accessories" setting will have options to change the setting of clear view cover. However, when I put the led case on, there is no setting to change the setting of the led case.

That goes back to my original statement:
AFAIK,There is no "Official" LED case for the Note FE,hence,no functionality to toggle in the settings.
Unless I'm missing your point, your LED Case is for the Note7,not the Note FE.
Which model Note FE do you have?
Just curious,as there's already been one setting missing from the KT model that is present in the SK Telecom model (SM-N935S).
I haven't heard from anyone w/the Note FE LG U+ Telecom model yet (SM-N935L),it'll be interesting to see how all three compare as settings/feature access goes.
If the functionality exists in one model, perhaps there'll be a way to trigger it on other models................................

No, they'll fit, just probably lose whatever special functionality they have when used on a Note FE....
