Samsung Pay - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hey,
I've bought Samsung S8 in Germany, O2 network. I was looking forward for Samsung Pay , but when I enter in the Google store or even Samsung store it says my country don't support the app. I have friends using Samsung Pay in another cellphones... I've downloaded an apk and installed Samsung Pay and it says "can't read the sim" and then can't connect to server... Anyone knows how to use Samsung Pay bypassing all these problems?
Thanks in advance

In germany? If so then it's probably to a specific bank, not all banks/cards are supported.

My bank support it because I have an Irish bank. But the thing is that I can't even open Samsung Pay on the cellphone... That's the problem, it came without it and after downloading the apk it doesn't connect to the server... Same with android pay, I download android pay( the apk because I can't from the play store - doesn't even appear after searching for it) then every time I want to open it it just force closes... =(. I was using my S7 using Samsung and android pay. =(

That's strange then, maybe Samsung disabled it on phones bought from o2 for some reason. Was your s7 also from o2 or was it unbranded? Samsung disables/enables features all the time based on what carrier the phone is on, in north America we sometimes loose the mobile data and hotspot toggles, the camera sound are disabled and even one carrier disables the device maintenance section in settings because they have their own preinstalled.
My s8 had Samsung pay preinstalled but I still can't update it from the play store or Samsung store because it's not showing up.

No UK Android Pay

Got the 6p and saw in the settings tap and pay and got excited . However I tried to find Android pay and couldn't so then checked on the playstore and it not there for me (UK). Found a link to it off a YouTube video and it says that it is not available for my country
Anybody know when it will come out or possible way to work around the issue.
Google have released absolutely nothing on it, and I cant find any alternative method either except bPay for barclays users.
I think this is partly because nearly everybody has a contactless card in the UK, it's not going to be a pressing issue for most users, and I don't think too many people use Apple Pay over here either

Verizon S8 with tmobile SIM - Cannot run system update

Neither on wifi nor cellular will it check for update. I get the error "sorry, we are having trouble authenticating your device"
Any idea how to fix this ?
wondering the same :/ anyone have anything?
see my post here. besides flashing the t-mobile ummm rom I guess over it, you won't be able to update. I've tried samsung and t-mobile and the only thing that will work besides that is to borrow a sim from a friend and use that... https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/best-buy-screw-t3594359/page2
try it today. it should work. the servers were having issues last night and this morning.

will not work because system updates are coming from carrier and having a tmobile sim in a verizon phone means verizon will not allow you to connect to their update server...

Thats not the case. I am using vzw GS8 on att and I receive updates fine
Well I'm confused then. I was able to do the last update with a t-mobile Sim in the phone? Right now when I try checking for updates it errors out saying it couldn't be authenticated. Anyone have any clue?
Hope I can help you!
How to update your system if you're not using the carrier from your S8(+) version.

you wont be able to updated through wifi or LTE unless you use a verizon SIM but you can do it easily using your computer and samsung smart switch.

Try to get at least an inactivated Verizon sim card from any Verizon store or you can also try a normal working Verizon sim. I had AT&T Galaxy S5 and it needed the carrier's sim card to even check for update. I took the sim, put it in, checked for update and was able to install it.
Fix to your issue
Hey guys so I do also share the same situation, I have a Verizon s8+ yet I have T-Mobile One as my coverage
Because it's not authenticated as a Verizon provided account it simply won't update
Now.. the solution to updating isn't directly on your device.
It's within the Samsung Smart switch App for either Mac or windows, you can run an update through there with little to no problems at all and finally keep your device up to date without having to return it for an unlocked one.
Just a brief note regarding the smart switch App, keep in mind that sometimes the update will freeze at a certain percentage on the computer so just be sure to close the app out only if your Samsung device hasn't received the green upload screen yet.
Hopefully this helps out alot of you guys ?
Best regards

I'd like to flash mine to t mobile, I'm begging you to help me with this!!!

I've seen a bunch of info on the forums on how to flash the T-Mo ROM on an s8 - as well as flashing the Samsung Unlocked ROM on the s8 but frankly, almost all the threads are from back at the phone launch - and it is unclear to me which roms & programs to search for.
In a similar vein - I'm a noob to the whole process using oden - which I think is what i would need to use. I have experience from years ago running cyanogen mods on a nook tablet and messing with windows phones - but nothing recent and things have changed a lot.
I've read conflicting reports throughout the forums on doing this...
I'm running a VZW Branded (but it's now "unlocked")
Model: s8 SM-G-950U
Build #: NRD90M.G950USQS2BQL1
Baseband #: G950USQS2BQL1
What I'm looking for (really the right word is "NEED"):
Access to lower 700 A block (full band 12 use)
Ability to get OTA Updates
Mobile Hotspot Functionality
WiFi Calling
VoLTE
Bixby
If I could have these all running the Samsung Unlocked ROM - then that would be preferred...
If not - I would want to flash the T-Mobile ROM.
I need to know ASAP as I only have 14days from today (2/14/18) to figure this out or go back to VZW
Many thanks!

UK question - setting up over data (EE)

Hi folks,
Got my FE - I can retire the S8! Oh its sooooo good to have this baby in hand again.
See to be ok but struggling to get the app updates over mobile network. I've set up to update over mobile data at any time in the play store but it has still not triggered an update / install to start. Seems to be OK updating via samsungs own store though. Any ideas?
Also normally asks when a new sim is installed to load the EE APN but this one hasn't.
Any UK FW yet so I get ditch the korean bloat? Installed package disabler but even then, without a sim it still comes up with t-mobile guff.
thanks

set up APN manually in the end with a link shared by jah - cheers! 4G was working using the default settings (I guess) but for efficiency its best to install the correct ones - checked against my S8+ settings and seems to work ok.
As soon as I connected to wifi play store updated - I wonder whether that was APN related so not updating using mobile data. Odd.
Feels great to have the note FE/7 back in hand. S8 too tall and slim for me.
Have you managed to get wifi calling working at all ?

Set restrictions on S8 similar to those found on iPhone?

I am going to be blunt...some friends of mine are having some issues in their marriage due to one of them having a porn addiction and also just using their phone too much so they came up with 5-10 apps they want to be able to use and don't want anything else to be usable including browsing the internet. Being their most tech savvy friend they turned to me for help.
He had an iPhone 6S Plus and it was very easy to set it up to lock down apps and even prevent web browsing even if he did manage to get a browser installed via Restrictions.
Unfortunately his phone recently died out of warranty and his wife had an old Galaxy S4 anyway so was due for a replacement. Their carrier (T-Mobile) had a special on Galaxy S8's for a buy one get one free so they ordered two of those to replace his non-working phone and her old one. (not relevant to the question, but I also have T-Mobile and took advantage of that deal too)
I have tried and tried to find a way to do those things they want on Android but am not having any luck. Most of the stuff I see for Restrictions on Android are for people wanting to put THEIR phone in like kid mode prior to handing it to their child. Other apps like Norton App Lock work for some apps but not all apps are listed and for example doesn't allow restricting the built in internet browser.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would download applock from the Google play store. Let's you lock apps and then a pin is needed to unlock. I use this one

I never needed this function, but see what Secure Folder can do for you.

Disappointed in the au/kddi Samsung Galaxy s8

So here's the thing I have a Galaxy S8 and am having issues with a few things
1. there is no bixby voice. - even having my system set to english dosnt help.
2. samsung pay dosnt work - it just says connecting fails.
3. region locking prevents 1 and 2. nothing wrong with my phone samsung just hates japan is all.
4. android pay sees the japan on my phone and prevents me from using my american payment methoids. cant add any credit cards. pay pal dosnt even link up right.
5. 1seg (HD Video over air) is really garbage. i have seen USB tuners on a laptop get better signal then my phone.
6. predicive text on my keyboard sucks. on all keyboards on gboard. on my iphone i was able to type and it would fix evorything. on my galaxy if i dont hook up a USB keyboard. i will say things like 8ts instead of its. and it wont fix it.
