Chrome not responsive/crashing - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi all,
My Chrome browser is suffering from regular unresponsiveness and crashing, including webview windows.
I either have to wait for the app is unresponsive dialog, or force stop the app myself.
Is anyone else having this issue?
I'm using the UK 3/32GB version.

Yep. Had it with my G4 and now with my new G5 Plus. UK, unlocked. It's driving me nuts.

I had it on my previous G5 plus. I knew it was device specific after trying out my Dad's, which is the slightly inferior 32/2. So I exchanged at BB, and the second unit never skips a beat.

Problems with touch and android not fluid

Guys, I need your help.
I got two problems in my X play.
1st Sometimes I feel that touch have a little late responsive, its makes me click two times to open an app sometimes, because the first click does not seem to be recognized or processed quickly.
2nd The screen transitions is worst than the 2nd Moto G for example. When I try to see the notifications, the effect of the the screen looks like that have little lags, is not fluid. :crying:
Someone got these problems?
Your X play is fluid like the moto x 2014 or Moto G?
Sorry about my bad english. :silly:

I dont't think it is about fluidness, but it seems there is a difference in the touchscreen sensitivity. You have to touch it a little bit harder in order for the touch to recognize. But you'll get used to it very quickly. The device is much more fluid than my wife's Moto G (2014) and my previous Moto X (2013).
That been said, you do know that the Moto X Play have a weaker CPU than Moto X 2014, right? This phone is not a replacement for last year Moto X, that will be the Style. This is a new device placed between the X and the G. I bought because I had an original Moto X, and the short battery was really getting on my toes.

I know everything you said. But I have here a moto G 2014 and its more fluid than my Xplay. Im testing now, and the moto G is clearly more fluid. I also have here a Xperia z3, and the difference is so big.
I think its a software problem, maybe with a custom kernel I can solve that.
have u tried rebooting it? (joke) No, seriously have u tried doing a factory reset?
I have all of these issues too.
Guys,
I was using NOVA LAUNCHER cracked, and having all these issues every ****ing minute. So, I uninstalled some apps and nothing changed, but when I uninstalled the Nova Launcher, my phone was a new device. So much better, more fluid and faster.
I got installed that in the same day I bought my device, so I did not used it without nova.
So,these problens I still have, but so much less than before. Now my device is "OK".
It's probably related to the cracked version. I'm using the legit Nova Launcher from the Play Store and it's smoother than the stock launcher.

Try supporting the dev you thief. There are tons of way to pay for it if you really wanted to. Just because it may be hard, doesn't mean stealing is ever justified. The only case I can see for that, is stuff like food, when you're on the brink of death and someone won't share. Even then, stealing is still fundamentally wrong, but somewhat more understandable.
I'm using my paid version of nova and it's world's better then stock.

EXTREMELY slow download speeds from the Play Store

Anyone experiencing this? Its a bit random as it doesnt always happen but the speeds are worse than dial up when it does, horrendous. Happens on wifi and LTE. Everything else speed wise is fine, just the Store. Force stopped, cleared data and cache, rebooted....its like I went back to the 1999.
Looks like people with 6Ps have been complaining about the same thing with no solutions. Maybe XDA can come to the rescue.
Yes it seems to happen frequently with me while the Motorola 6 has no issues.

Makes me wonder if its a Marshmallow issue.
Happens to me also. Weird stuff
And right now it's fine.
Happened to me on my LP Galaxy S6 Edge, Nexus 6 and 6P, wife's Nexus 5X, OPO, OPT and OPX, leading me to believe it may be something screwey server wise at Google...
I've been having issues with many Google services for a number of weeks. Play store and music are the main ones, but chrome (x64), Gmail and docs are all laggy and often disconnecting. This happens on my 6p, xt1092, work win7 machine and home win10 laptop. Doesn't matter which network. The only one that seems unaffected is my Dell Chromebook. I too reckon it's server side rather than android or MM.
I noticed that too. Happens randomly from times to times. Sometimes I have to cancel a download or an app update and restart it then it goes away.

Strange reboots after OTA

Has anyone else had this issue? I got an OTA last night around midnight, and it has rebooted itself in the middle of use twice today.
Nope
Any idea of what the OTA actually installed?
I have no clue
I'm having the same issue. Phone has rebooted 3 times today.
What version did the OTA bring your phone up to? PB4??

I had sync.me installed as a way to get profile pics in contacts. I uninstalled it yesterday and it hasn't rebooted since. Seemed like it was over working the phone. Carbonad, do you have sync.me?
My Note 5 and S7 Edge reboot itself at least once a day minimum. My Note 5 reboots more than the S7 Edge, though. Also, my S7 Edge likes to vibrate when there's no notifications, button presses, or even screen touches - along with the screen turning on whenever it wants to. Yet the battery still lasts forever. I also get false touches quite a bit (mentioned in another thread by another user).
Samsung FTW. Still not as many problems as I hear all of my family and friends complaining about with their beloved iPhone. But my Samsung is "far from superior"? Lolz.
All phones matter.

I never had a smartphone that would randomly and regularly reboot itself. The fact that both of yours do that seems like an odd coincidence to me. You think maybe it's an app you have installed on both devices that could be the culprit? If my phones were doing that I would have them replaced because that's not normal. BTW, I have the overly sensitive screen issue on my S7 Edge but apparantly it's the nature of the beast. I went to both Best Buy and a Verizon store and played around with their display models. They all seem about the same. So I guess it's something you have to adjust to. I'm still looking forward to a fix in a firmware update though.

I'm not totally sure what it would be cause by on the Note 5. It started after the first Marshmallow update. I can't do an OTA because it's no longer on a carrier, so I'm not sure if any updates (if released) would fix it or not. I do use Nova Prime on it for a launcher, and the device has a fair amount of apps and is loaded with widgets on 3 screens (including the home screen).
The S7 Edge doesn't do the reboots anymore since the 2nd Marshmallow update, so that's no longer an issue. After today's update, the phone isn't waking randomly anymore, so the screen is turning on randomly. I also haven't been experiencing the vibrate issue either. The device appears to be a lot more stable than previously, too.
I assume its a mixture of updates through firmware and apps that cause the issues I was experiencing, but it's difficult to say.
I only experience an "overly sensitive screen" when I play Clash of Clans and hold my finger in one spot on the screen - it'll start shaking as if I was moving my finger slightly in different directions. I just checked now and it doesn't do that anymore, so that may have been fixed.
I haven't been able to update the Note 5 yet, nor am I to worried about it at this point, so I can't confirm any changes on that device.
However, the S7 Edge of mine is preforming exceptionally today. Much better than it was even preforming this morning pre-update.

That's good that your S7 issue is resolved. Maybe Samsung is aware of some of the screen issues and is working on it with updates. As far as your Note 5, you can probably find the latest firmware on Sammobile.

I spoke too soon as most of the issues came back again.
Not sure what the problem is, but oh well.
There's been a problem with every phone I've purchased - HTC Hero, HTC Evo3D, Galaxy S4, Note 3, Note 4, Note 5, and S7 Edge.
The difference is that I was able to install custom ROM's on those older devices.
It's always something. That's how it goes.

I know that feeling. At the suggestion of a Verizon tech, I ran the Verizon repair assistant program in an attempt to fix my over sensitive touch screen issue. When I ran the program my phone was working normal without the screen sensitivity problem. I blabbed it on the forums I found a fix. The following day was screen was back to acting up. I would have returned the phone if I knew the fix was only temporary. By waiting that one more day I was one day past my 14 day return window. I'm getting use to the way it is. I have to be overly cautious to prevent inadvertently opening apps and links.
If someone can show me a forum about an Android device where there is no one talking about their device lags or sucks for a variety of issues, I would like to know. There are always going to people with issues. Some may be user induced, some a design flaw and others just a defective unit.

Here's what is causing the random screen-on:
http://androidforums.com/threads/samsung-s7-screen-keeps-turning-on-randomly.1014655/page-2
Turns out to be the Verizon Message+ App.
After disabling that app, I no longer have that issue.
The screen, however, is still pretty... (sensitive?). There are times where the phone will act as if I tapped the screen, but I never even touched it; resulting in a clicked link, webpage moving, etc... A bit irritating, but isn't causing too much of a hassle.
In conclusion, every phone will always have a defect. Lol.
------------------edit 1
ADDED: After disabling Message+ my charge light no longer works. Always something.
------------------edit 2
My notification light no longer works at all. Lol. I give up.

Is anybody else's G4 Glitching?

So I was wondering if anybody else with the Moto G4 were having any glitches right now mine is doing stuff without even touching it, I didn't even drop in water or on the cement, it closes apps randomly and the notifications sometimes will not close, If anyone else is EXPERIENCING these problems please let me know and if you have an answer please tell me!

I have also experience some glitching, but not that severe. It has glitched while using Firefox or videos apps. What I have done is basically reboot. It doesn't happen frequently and I am not sure if its because of the low 2GB ram or memory it has. I assume the ram gets consume and the phone starts acting up. I know Firefox and video apps tend to use a lot of ram. If I am using it normally, I don't experience the Glitching. That's the only reasoning I can come up with.
Not experienced this on the G4, but i had a similar experience on my old phone, the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6. The touchscreen regularly registered activity when i was nowhere near it, and touches were off-sync. The problem on that phone started after abnormal pressure was applied to the screen (friend nicked the phone and it resulted in a tug of war with it). Have you pressed the screen very hard, or applied more pressure to it than is normal in any way?
My G4 kept self pressing the home button (phantom touch). It activated Google Now On Tap as a result. I rebooted the phone and it went anyway. Only happened once. My phone is a stock Amazon edition.
This is the reason I returned my g4 for the honor 5x. I use my GPS for work a lot. During navigation it kept ghost touching and had to pull over after a reboot. Kept happening. I'm surprised this isn't all over XDA. I found a lot of people talking g about it on reddit.

To be fair, that isn't but a fraction of 1% of the phones that have been sold. It's also true that a huge number of people haven't bothered making a post out of the blue saying their Moto G4 has had no ghost touches. Do a search for Honor 6x problems and you'll also find numerous problems reported. I'm not necessarily defending Moto because I've had issues of my own buy I've owned the Moto G2, Moto G3, Huawei, LG, Nokia, and Samsung and they've all had issues also.

Oh I know that 5x has issues. I understand the issues reported are small. But for me if a phone doesn't work and I get it exchanged and that phone does it as well, I hate wasting time and money. I'm not going to wait for software updates to fix out of the box issues. The honor 5x has issues but to me they are negligible out of the box. I do miss the g4 and almost went back. Bit I have to have something usable and feel burned.

S10+ keeps freezing + fingerprint sensor issues

Hey guys,
so I got my s10+ about a week ago and I was actually very happy with it. But about 3 days ago my s10+ froze and ever since freezes multiple times during the day. It most often happens when I'm trying to use it while I'm on the phone via bluetooth headset. Also since about the same amount of time my fingerprint sensor is super buggy and I have to retry multiple times to get to unlock it. I've paid nearly 900€ for this device so that's both very annoying.
Does anyone else has the same issues that I have? Especially the freezing part?

Have you taken any system updates since you've had it? If so, I'd likely try a full reset of the phone although I know it's a pain but it does help sometimes. I haven't noticed a lot of chatter about freezing exceot for the Chinese Snapdragon rooting bunch.
Yeah, at day one I took the update that was available and also checked for new. I'll try the full reset. But it's weird that I'm the only one that seems to have this problem...
