Sunshine temp root working - Droid Maxx 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, I was tinkering with my Maxx 2 and found that the app SunShine will grant temp root. Don't know where to go from there though.

[Q] Moto making DX unrootable with new gingerbread update?

http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/0...oid-x-gingerbread-upgrade-to-prevent-rooting/
Is this article true? Has anybody installed the latest official update and not been able to gain root access? If so, then I had better root my phone already before this gets rolled out.
not true. it's already been rooted. it's called GingerBreak.
^ what he said
It would be near impossible to prevent root access.
Sent from my Xoom the way it should be, rooted and with SD card.
There are so many bits of untrue information in that article it's not even funny.
1. It is rootable.
2. It is not a silent update.
3. The bootloader doesn't affect superuser access (root).
Amongst other things... I won't be looking to that site for any real info in the future.

Question

Hey I have a g2x nut a few of my friends have the Droid x I am fully rooted and running custom roms some of my friends want in on the action. So how hard is it to root thus phone? I heard that verizon phone s have locked bootloaders which makes it harder. A 5 year old can root the g2x. So what are the steps?

Its fairly easy. I just rooted my Droid X on Sat and i downloaded my first custom rom last night it is very easy. I would suggest going to droidmodderx.com and visiting his youtube droidmodderx. Droid X does have a bootloader app that you have to install Droid 2 Bootloader. Just visit his site and youtube and follow directions. Its very easy.

[Q] Rooting my Droid X, 4.5.621?

Hello, I've just re-rooted my Droid X. I lost root a couple days ago because I slipped up and took the 4.5.621 update and lost root. After figuring out I could not root on .621, I used the Linux method, and got Milestone X .604 ..Now, is it possible to update from .604 back to .621 WITHOUT losing my root? I've downloaded root keeper but I just wanted to double check. If anyone knows, please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.

Yes it can be rooted. Just rooted one last week. Make sure your battery is FULLY charged before you run bootloader. Otherwise, you risk soft bricking.
I recommend using a virtual machine OR win XP to flash. ^sd_shadow's guides help a lot.
If you run into trouble; please reply.
