Car Media problem - ZTE Axon 7 Mini Questions & Answers

I have a minor issue that's causing some unnecessary data usage. This problem didn't occur with my last phone (S6). I'm sure it's just a minor timing issue but doesn't anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it?
My car's audio system has a mode select button that runs through the various modes - FM1, FM2, Media, XM Radio. When I use this and pass through the Media button, and if my phone is connected by bluetooth, the slightest pause in passing through Media results in my phone starting up my internet radio app. I understand this, what I don't understand how to resolve is how to automatically stop the internet radio app when I leave Media. Because I didn't notice this the first few times it happened, therefore didn't shut down the internet radio app for some time, I wound up eating up 200-300MB of my data plan.
The issue seems to be a slight pause on passing through the Media option. Too short, and the internet radio app doesn't start up. Too long, and the switch away from Media will result in the internet radio app stopping. A slight pause of maybe 1/2 second seems to be the problem. My guess is that either the car isn't sending the "stop" command on this short duration (not likely the case since this problem didn't occur with my S6) or the 7 mini isn't processing the "stop" command when it's received so close to the "start" command.
If you have any thoughts on how to fix this other than "don't pause that long" I'd greatly appreciate hearing them.

How is your Bluetooth

I have a new car and a new phone so it's hard to be sure.
I used the GNex for about 3 days with the new car and didn't see problems. Connected every time and sound was consistent
With the MotoX I am getting auto connected about 1/2 the time and a lot of stuttering on the bluetooth audio.
Same for others ?
Another question: When I connect bluetooth the volume always resets to about 80%. Can I change this setting anywhere ?
So it's not the car as I just had the same problems with my BT headphones. It also started playing through the speakers at one point even though the BT connection was still showing.
I use the Bluetooth calling feature with my truck. I haven't had any problems so far, but it's only been a few days. I will report back if I do have problems. I am running 4.4 with all OTAs.
My moto x after kitkat update bluetooth disconnects in middle and reconnects again in 5 seconds. Super annoying

My HTC One did that with aosp kitkat. I haven't seen that on the X yet.

I've had pretty much the same experience with mine since the 4.4 update. I don't even bother listening to music over bluetooth now because it's so annoying with the constant stuttering. I'm hoping they fix it with the next update, whenever that comes. If not, I'll probably have to look into upgrading to a newer head unit. My GNex always worked great with this stereo's bluetooth.
I listened to Spotify Inmine yesterday, no problems. It even sent the song information to my car's display which it didn't do on my last phone.
I've been tethering my Nexus 7 using Bluetooth and had a lot of trouble getting it to connect the first time. But today was my first real use of it and the Internet connection on the Nexus 7 dropped part way through the trip. It was only being used to get traffic info for CoPilot, so I didn't notice right away when the connection was lost. A little troubleshooting got me nowhere, but then while driving the connection came back on its own.
Something happens with me

No issues with bluetooth here. Pandora is streaming fine and Torque is talking to my OBD2 adapter as well (even both at the same time).

I use bluetooth daily and haven't experienced a disconnect or even a stutter with Google Play Music on 4.4. I chose the setting to resume music when driving is detected and now I don't even take out my phone when I get in my car. Music usually starts playing within 100' of driving. There is a mod to remove the audio warning; I haven't tried it yet, but I don't really have a problem with it either.

Samsung has the same thing on it's firmware, and while it was a PITA to find and fix, it can be done (fairly easily).
I've had some Bluetooth issues that I described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2562186
At least one other person mentioned their connection dropping repeatedly. My issue started with it only connecting to my hands free in my car, but but my separate A2DP audio receiver. If I tapped on the device in Bluetooth settings, it connected fine. I found an app called Bluetooth Auto Connect that has nice configuration options to do what I needed (connect to A2DP once General Motors connects), but it also plays nice with Tasker.
I did notice last night that my General Motors connection was starting and stopping repeatedly my entire drive home from work (~45 minutes). I noticed it at first when I would turn the screen on to thumb up a song on Pandora, and the "you're connected to a trusted device" message would flash. At first I thought it was just reminding me of that each time the screen came on (or manually unlocking when the screen turned on), but then noticed my radio was saying "Bluetooth Connected" every few minutes as well. I rarely actually talk on the phone, so it's not a huge deal, but as described in my post linked above, on Monday I got a call when I (thought I) was connected to my General Motors, but it wasn't. I answered the call and was talking on the handset when it connected to Bluetooth and then I was hands free.
I did also notice yesterday when I was listening to Pandora with wired headphones at my desk at work that it got started sputtering pretty bad after I got a text message and Active Display was "breathing". Not sure if the two are related, but it happened. I did get a few texts while driving home and didn't notice any skipping over Bluetooth then.
Interesting theory on the active display... I've often wondered if that was partially responsible for the stuttering issue I'm having, but I was under the impression that it is automatically disabled when the phone is in your pocket, or face down. I guess I have some more experimenting to do while I wait for the next update.
At least for me it would not be face down in the car so I'll keep an eye on that.
Can someone point me to where I can take care of the volume issue ?
OK figured it out and learned about Xpose. Very cool.
I'll see if this is what was actually my problem. My problem was that bluetooth audio level is always reset to 80% (or so) each time I use it.
Bluetooth in my car is awesome.
ATT kitkat with Toyota Venza
Before the update music streaming took 20 seconds to load, but now it works instantly.
Bluetooth has had half second "pauses" at random times... sometimes seems too coincide with the screen on or off, other times when the phone is doing nothing. Also before kit Kat Google music would show track number (but nothing else) now I've lost that too. Unrooted

I experienced the pauses today when I overrode the volume warning. They kept occurring even after the volume was turned back down below 80%. I rebooted and started up some music without going over the volume suggestion and the skips were gone. If you're having trouble with the music or Bluetooth connection "skipping" try it out. Definitely tied to that volume warning somehow.
Interesting theory, I'll have to test it out. I have noticed that mine seems to do it at the same locations while I'm driving, and am starting to wonder if it is related to the handoff between towers.

Spotify Issues / Notifications disappearing / music not stopping phone calls

Is it just me or anyone running Spotify notice that there seem to be some bugs recently...
I noticed that the Spotify notifications disappear every once and awhile while music is playing. I'm wondering if this is something that was introduced into 6.0 or what. Anyone have any ideas? I can open spotify check back an hour later and it's still playing but I have to switch back to the app and the notification comes back. This is pretty frustrating when trying to stop the music from running. It can also happen after 20 minutes it seems...
Another issue is that I receive a phone call but the music starts playing in earpiece or bluetooth while the phone is occurring. Combine this with issue 1 and you have a difficult situation here...
I have had the notification disappear once or twice, but more commonly I am using the phone and swipe Spotify out of my recents (I do it A LOT on accident because I my recent apps clean) and it will continue to play. I have to then open Spotify and wait for it to show what is playing at the bottom, then swipe it out again and it stops.
Last night was the first time I've had it mess up with a phone call. I was in my car and it was dark and raining, I was driving downtown and not really wanting to talk on the phone anyway, but I hit answer on the handsfree in my car. The music started playing through the phone audio in my car. My car only has bluetooth for phone calls so I use a bluetooth A2DP dongle to feed the 3.5mm line in port on the stereo. The music was clearly playing over the phone because it was of much poorer quality than the A2DP device. I only let it play for a second or two before I hung up on the person because it was probably BLASTING on their end.
I don't get a ton of phone calls, let alone when music is playing, but that's the first time I've had that particular issue.
I also get this strange thing where sometimes when playing bluetooth and disconnect it will start playing out of my stereo which can be embarrassing if you're at work! All the issues seem random so hopefully they go away or get patched.
Ditto, I am having a ton of issues with Spotify on my N6P. Music just stops playing, I have to open the app, hit pause and then hit resume for it to start playing sound again.
I am also having the same issue with music playback suddenly stopping. I have to pause it and hit play again. But it then stops playing again every 30 seconds. I am using an aux cord in my car but frankly I am quite annoyed.
I’m having the issue with the lock screen widget/notification disappearing sometimes, it's especially annoying when in my car and I want to skip/repeat a track and the widget disappears. My guess it's a marshmallow issue and should be fixed with an update to the app.
similar issues for me here now. guess we just need to wait for an app update.

My Spidey senses tell me is has something to do with doze, my N6P stops Spotify every time it's put into my pocket, recent Spotify update hasn't fixed anything???

Doze won't activate if your phone is in your pocket. It only triggers when the device is sitting completely still for some time. I have had Spotify repeatedly pause itself when my battery was very low (<10%) before, though. I would press play and as soon as the screen shut off, it would pause again. I didn't turn off battery optimization for Spotify explicitly yet, but mine doesn't seem to be acting up as much as it was before.
It just occasionally removes the ongoing notification but launching and exiting the app again restores it every time.

I have the 6p and now music will randomly stop playing with any music app if connected via 3.5mm.
Same issue here with music still on phone calls.
Use Pioneer BT head unit in the car and stream Music and Calls over it. Use Spotify premium with all music offline.
I have posted on the Spotify forums but so far have not seen any replies that will fix the issue.
One person recommended uninstalling and reinstalling the application, however I don't really want to have to download 6GB of music again...
I am also experiencing these issues. Waiting on updates to Marshmallow and/or Spotify to fix them... It is quite frustrating though.
i've now experience some similar issues. just waiting on an update like everyone else.
I've had the disappearing notification, as well as audio dropouts while listening via wired headset and Bluetooth (though that one might be caused by Viper4Android - not sure)
My Spotify + Nexus 6P issue is when I'm listening to music and then I press the app drawer. I momentarily lose sounds for a very short period of time, not even a second, split second maybe. Though it is intermittent, it kinda bugs me out.

Bluetooth music automatically playing

Ok, i have a strange problem.
My N4 is connected to my car via bluetooth. When ever the connection is resumed the N4 will automatically start the standard music app with the only song thats on there. It does not resume my podcasts or streams. Adding to that annoyance, it sometimes just switches to the standard music player without any actions taken. I listen to a podcast and have the phone lying in my car, me not touching it. After some minutes it switches to the default music app. It's random and not reproducable.
Is there a way to get the phone to resume whatever was last played when reconnecting bluetooth?
Any insight into this problem is much appreciated :good:
I think this is happening when whatever music so you are using is closed to free memory. The car looses the stream, then send a play command through the BT stack, and the phone starts the default app. First thing to do is see about freeing up memory to reduce the likelihood of your app getting closed out. Second step, look for settings within your so that will help keep it from being closed. A persistent notification will usually help. I'm using Podcast Addict and it does a great job of this, but I think the most effective thing was making sure I had free memory.

Thanks for the input, it's much appreciated. Apperently MM solved the problem for me. Haven't had any hiccups since updating and every stream is restarting properly :good:

US996: Bluetooth skipping/stuttering ONLY when screen is on

I have an hour-long commute to and from work, and I like to use both Waze (to avoid traffic) and Spotify (to avoid boredom). Sometimes (once or twice per song), Bluetooth will cut out for a second, then the next second of the song will be sped up, as if to compensate for the stutter. However, I discovered while driving that if I turned off my phone's screen, the Bluetooth problems stopped. I have been able to replicate this behavior multiple times. I don't think it's GPS-related, because if I recall correctly Waze was still running in the background when I turned off the display, but I could probably stand to double-check. I do not stream songs on Spotify and only play playlists I have downloaded on WiFi to avoid using data, so it is not a connection problem.
I am rooted and am running the 10k stock ROM from this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/us996unlocked-twrp-flashable-10f-t3544573

Media through bluetooth keeps dropping out...

I am having a weird issue that I've never encountered before. I have a bluetooth earpiece (an MPOW one from Amazon). If, while listening to podcasts (or music or anything else) through it I disconnect from Wifi, the audio drops from the earpiece and keeps playing from the phone's speaker. I then have to turn off my earpiece and turn it back on again to get the audio to route through the earpiece. It doesn't disconnect (still shows as connected) when this happens...it just stops playing though the earpiece.
I've tried forgetting and repairing the bluetooth device. I've tried rebooting. I've tried clearing the data for the Bluetooth Sharing application...none of it has fixed the problem. If I turn my wifi off, this doesn't happen....
Any help?
Bluetooth is 2.45Ghz, actually 2400Mhz to 2483.5 MHz including guard bands 2 MHz wide at the bottom end and 3.5 MHz wide at the top...
"2.4Ghz" 802.11 WiFi is 2401Mhz to 2495Mhz...
See the problem here? Your issue is not uncommon... reconfigure your router to a different channel or use a 5Ghz WiFi connection and your situation should improve.
This varies by device, and even varies between identical devices, and depends on the environment and situation at the time. My device may have no issues with my BT headset and your does, it actually isn't that unusual.

I'm having the same issues. The wifi interference is not the issue. It's been happening to me playing offline materials on Google Play (podcast) and Amazon Music apps It's auto dropping when connected to my car, headphones etc. I wonder if it has something to do with my Pebble smart/dumb watch.? I'm going to try and disconnect that and reconnect it. It was a pain in the Arse the first time. Let me know if you ever figured anything else out. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of traffic on this subject. It's gotta be something obscure. :cyclops:
I finally just did a system reset on my phone and it has fixed the problem. I wonder if it was an app I had installed that was causing the issue....I'm not really sure though.
I'm having the same issue - bluetooth disconnects whenever Wifi disconnects. Anyone figure out what's causing this?
Same issue here too. Mine says it is still connected, but starts playing through the phone speaker. It just happened on a second item, so it's the phone end.
I suspect a rogue app.... Moto G5 Plus

This was driving me crazy too the last few weeks. Cache Cleaner seems to have fixed it.
Mine has been giving me the exact same issues!!! It is driving me crazy!
Tried clearing cache...didn't help. I can't get my wifi to stay connected for the life of me! I'll connect, and it'll die within 5-10 minutes, and won't reconnect until I manually reconnect. This is getting really annoying! Any suggestions?
Cache cleaner turned out to be a temporary fix only. I think I have finally fixed it, but the bad news is I can't really tell anyone what I did. I just went through and either uninstalled or froze all the apps I rarely use including several Motorola apps and it appears to be working now. So if it continues to work, it was a rogue app...just don't know which one.
