Amazon/USA has started to offer the BLU R1HD cell phones, USED with cheaper prices! - BLU R1 HD Guides, News, & Discussion

I do not know if some have noticed, but just a few days ago Amazon/USA has started to offer the BLU R1HD cell phones, both the 8gb/1gb and also the 16gb/2gb, at cheaper prices: used-like new, used-very good and used-good.

Previously amazon was only selling a single unit of the BLU-R1-HD to its Prime Members, but now those who wish to acquire additional phones for their relatives, will be able to get them "Used", starting from $44.54 (8gb/1gb) and $53.45 (16gb/2gb), and without limitations in the quantity of units ordered!

[Q] Buying Iconia A500 in India - should I go for Amazon or Flipkart ?

Hello friends,
Going to buy the Iconia and really feeling excited
A question, I have the option of buying it from either Amazon or from the Indian online store Flipkart , both promising to deliver within 4 days.
Just to clarify, I have bought a lot of stuff from Flipkart in the past, and they really offer good service, with 30 days replacement guarantee (similar to Amazon), so vendor reliability is not a problem.
The price difference is around $30 (Amazon is cheaper even with international priority shipping and import duties included), which I can invest in buying a micro SD card.
The flip side is, I am not sure about the warranty coverage outside US when the tablet is bought from US. Will Acer India support this device ? Can someone help me deciding where to buy it from ?
Thanks,
Sandip

Sagging sales...really?

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2013/11/21/lg-release-g-pad-tablet-more-overseas-markets.html
Gee, I wonder why sales are below expected in the US? Could it be Best Buy's epic failure at promoting the product? The people at BB should be running the NSA; they're better at keeping secrets.
Maybe LG should just rename it the Area 51 Pad...lots of people have heard of it but BB continues to deny it's existence.
No kidding! The Best Buy help weren't aware of it and took forever to find it in "the cage".
LG has officially jumped the shark.
I don't know who is to blame LG or Best Buy or both but it does make you scratch you head in wonder how they plan to sell this tablet based on current marketing an store display. Why give Best Buy an exclusive if they don't plan to display it and sell it? They need to get this in more stores out on display. They also need to drop 30-50 off the price here in the states if they want it to sell it needs to be cheaper than the first iPad mini and the Samsung Tab 3 8 regardless of the specs and it being a better product most Americans don't know specs they know brand name and price.
Ya, BB has this thing in their phone department next to the G2. Like what?
They need this over with the other tablets, let alone the other 8" tablets. Luckily I knew where to look so i can get a hands on before deciding on a purchase online
The two BB near me do not even have it out in the phone area they have a picture of it in the G2 display but not the actual device.
It does feel like that what is otherwise a fantastic tablet will again fail to sell properly. Just like the Samsung 7.7 did in its time. You have to wonder...
BB has no interest in promoting specific products. If the G Pad fails, it makes no difference to them. They are just as happy selling an iPad or a Samsung Note. LG is the one who loses when this product is a flop. It's up to LG to make sure that retailers sell the product. If they made the product attractive to BB, then BB would sell it. The real problem is that LG has not advertised the product, they've priced it too high, and they haven't provided the right incentives to retailers.
A retailer isn't going to give shelf space or attention to a product that is as poorly marketed as the G Pad. If a lot of people were coming into the store asking for it, BB would pay more attention. It's LG who's keeping the product a secret. BB is just following their lead.
And why are BB and Newegg the only authorized dealers?? Why isn't Amazon, Target, Costco, Sam's Club and Walmart selling this? Where are the magazine and TV ads? The billboards? The point of sale kiosks, etc? LG seems to have no serious interest in this product. Any product that was as poorly marketed as this one would fail in the market.
At least my local Best Buy has a white one up for display *in the phone section* away from all the other tablets and readers.

I got mine on release date. They didn't have any on display and only one left in stock (other than the one that the guy tried to sell me the display unit and then noticed the computer said it was $1000 for it).
I visited my local Best Buy last night and they still don't have it on display (in tablet or phone area) or in stock. I really don't understand why LG has dropped the ball on this but it seems to be in line with about every other mobile company minus Apple and Samsung. Every display other than the Apple and Samsung displays looked cheap and run down. The Nexus 7 display looked fine, but they have a demo running on all of their models so you can't even get a real feel for how it works. If LG would put a nice display in the tablet area, these things would sell fast. I just hope enough sell to have a decent development community.
LG must not. want to be successful. they had it on display only at. best buy with the mobile phones. No advertising, ovepriced and lackluster support.
Whose poor ideas were this? only. 1 retailer in the US?

Apparently, US sucks *JOKE*
Here in Europe you can get your G Pad in 95% of all the electronics shops. Its really strange what's going on in the US...
I don't know how well the tablet is selling worldwide but at the biggest electronics store here in Zurich, I think it's doing quite well with the Black version sold out and only a few white versions left. Of course, this could be due to low stock to begin with, I'm not sure. I really hope it does well because I just got mine and it's probably one of the best electronic gadgets I have ever bought.
I'm no stranger to Android (although I haven't spent a great deal of time on the latest hardware such as the HTC One, G2 or Galaxy S4) but I was always a little disappointed by the promise of "buttery smooth performance" from the Jellybean. I have a One X and also another tablet from Pipo running the RK3188 so it's no slouch but both are not what I would call a smooth experience (although my One X became a heck of a lot better after flashing Cyanogenmod). I originally came from iPhones and iPads so I was very disappointed in this regard.
Now with the G Pad, I finally know what "buttery smooth" feels like on an Android. The machine is just incredible with next to no interface lag at all and all the apps zip around without any effort. The Wi-Fi strength is also incredible, picking up my router from distances that my One X, iPad mini or iPhone 4S could never have.
For the sake of LG, I hope it really does well. They deserve it and will hopefully release more products like this in the future.

As you pointed out low stock could mean heavy selling or it could mean low stock. Considering the way it started off in the US, i.e., few retailers and high prices, I'm inclined to think that LG does not have a lot of capacity to manufacture the units. Currently, we're seeing more discounting in the US and few more options for retailers, but it is still not widely sold. Could be that the situation will get better as they produce more units.
Awesome tablet but I just returned mine to BestBuy. I've been burnt before buy buying a killer device that no one else bought. Software updates don't come and accessories don't fit. Very sad that LG made this ridiculous exclusive distribution deal.

I'm moving to the G Pad from the Lenovo A2109. A great device for the money...

I played with one at best buy in southern il today it was next to the lg g2. I think I'll love this thing it's the perfect size and seems fast. I figure I'll keep for at least a year maybe longer if no one comes out with a better 8 inch tab. Samsung's note screen sucks I also looked at it today.

Even though they had no choice but to drop the price, still BestBuy does not even display it.

Well Said Woody.
Fast forward to the present and it's still the same.. BestBuy could care less about this Tablet.. a lot of sales reps still don't know about it and it's still to this day not on display..
And that's sad.
I have posted similar thoughts about lack of promotion and availability for this tablet in other forums. It's very strange to have such a product available only at one B&M retailer (BB), and one online store (Newegg), and as a GPE version. With that approach you would think LG would have dumped a bunch of money into promoting the G Pad at BB. I've seen enough complaints in the reviews at Newegg (and elsewhere for units purchased from Newegg) to think they were chosen to handle the returns, refurbished units, and otherwise 'unclean' units.
Having said that, our BB started displaying a black version and a white version G Pad a couple of weeks ago. Last week they price matched Newegg's $280 for the black version for me when they were selling theirs for $350. The sales rep I got knew all about the G Pad and started trying to sell me on it but I already knew everything I needed to know.
Now VerizonWireless has started to sell it as well, with LTE. That could be a breakthrough for this tablet, especially with the pricing model they have ($100 with a 2 year contract through tomorrow, $149 after that, and $300 with no contract). Those prices are pretty enticing, I think, especially compared to BB's $350 everyday price for the WiFi only model. It will be interesting to see what happens with this tablet now that VW is in the picture.
Another thought. I've wondered, especially since the GPE came out, if maybe the G Pad is a trial run for a Nexus 8 replacement for the Nexus 7 and maybe a new Nexus 10 as well that a lot of folks are waiting for. Google got a lot of heat for the issues many folks had with the Gen2 Nexus 7 built by ASUS. Maybe they are testing the waters with LG for their next generation Nexus tablets and they and LG aren't necessarily concerned about how much money they make from this one. Just a thought.

Possible to order this tablet from US to India?

I am still interested in this tablet but the price in India is completely ridiculous, around 47000 (almost $800) for the 32 GB 3G version. I thought Samsung might lower it over time but the price hasn't budged in 9 months.
I am interested in the 16GB Wifi version which seems to be available for around $350 refurbished on Amazon. I was wondering if any Indian posters have ordered it through them and what the final price is after shipping, taxes etc.
Online / store price the best that I have seen is INR 45,500...
But I agree on both counts
1. Price has certainly proved resistant to lowering
2. Its expensive (currently picked up an ipad air 16 gb for 36k at amazon india)
Have not ordered this from US as I will prefer to buy it local because
1. Warranty and repair service - god forbid something goes wrong with the tablet, doubt samsung would honor the warranty of another country and am not confident on the situation of parts and all for a model not sold here locally...service in India stinks!
2. Custom duties - we have some crazy custom duties typicall plus add the cost of shipping and chances are whatever savings in the price you get will be nullified by the cost of having it delivered in your hands.
Me, even if I could accept the second.l, cannot accept the first as I don't want to end up with an expensive paper weight.
Purely my own thoughts, yours may of course vary.

I agree with your points which is why I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of ordering from India especially with respect to point 2. If the savings are sufficient I would be prepared to risk the lack of warranty.
Samsung has really missed the boat with pricing on this tablet. They could have easily launched the 16GB wifi version for 35. And it's baffling that they have refused to reduce the price. The Note 3 which was released at the same time is now 38 and the GS5 which was released 6 months later is 35. Hopefully once they launch the newer version, the price on the 2014 will drop sharply.
i just received mine yesterday. i bought it via amazon.
It was used( open box Like new). And really is just new unit. But there is little bump on back side near samsung logo.( I searched on google and many new unit also have same issue. and anyway its not noticable.)
Price was $387 (including fast shipping in 2-5 days). It converted into 24263 inr (always place order in USD).
It shipped via fedex. custom duty is little less than 15%.+ fedex fees and service tax. Totally i paid 4268 inr as duty.
Its super easy just make everything clear with seller.
I hope it helps you.
Thanks. So it works out to around 29000. I have to say that's quite tempting even given the warranty issues.
Yeah that's the reason i got one.

[Q] Anyone used Swappa UK to sell?

I've put up my Note 4 on Swappa UK, as I was advised to on here when selling other devices in the past. I thought I'd give it a try. Even paid extra to feature the listing.
I then noticed that there are a total of 5 devices for sale on Swappa UK. No need to pay for featuring the ad then.
Am I making a big mistake trying to sell my Note 4 on Swappa UK? Has anyone had any success in the past on there? I know it's far more popular in the US.
I want to know as I also have a Moto X 2014 to sell. I've recently moved house and need some spare moolah. I could've eBay'd it, I have done many times in the past, but they always take a massive chunk. I'm afraid I may now have to lower the price so much I may as well have put it up on eBay and just taken the hit on the fees.
It's £425 btw.
I can't see 4 for sale only 1 in Bolton £395

Cheapest Deals/Offers on Axon 7 from China? (AliExpress, Banggood, etc.)

Hey!
I have been using Android phones for the past 4 years, starting out with the 2013 Moto G 1st Gen and then upgrading through to a OnePlus One and LG G4. I now have a Lenovo ZUK Z2 Plus of which i've owned since November 2016. I'm currently looking to swap this phone for something else and have decided that the ZTE Axon 7 is my best bet, as i'm after something with a 5.5" AMOLED display and front-facing stereo speakers; whilst keeping the price within a tight budget of around £250 GBP.
The problem is that the Axon 7 is not sold here in the UK, with only the Axon 7 Mini being available in the shops; meaning that i'd have to purchase one from China and have it imported into the country. I would like to buy the 128GB/6GB version but there don't seem to be many of this variant available for purchase within budget. Currently the cheapest prices i've found are approximately £285 for the 128GB/4GB version and £245 for the 64GB/4GB model on Banggood and AliExpress.
With the Axon 8 presumably approaching within the next few months, it's possible that the prices of the Axon 7 will start to drop on these websites. However in the meantime while we wait, does anyone know of any current deals/offers on this handset from China?
Thanks!
you answered the question yourself in your thread. Go buy, I did. No regrets at all.

Thanks for the responses, haha. I guess it would still be a good deal to just buy the phone at the current prices, since it represents such good value for money! I noticed that Banggood also sent me a discount code for 10% off which can be used until the 19th July, but i don't think it can be used on the 128GB version because it's already in their sale and you can't combine discount offers... It does however mean £27 discount off the 64GB model. Maybe i'll wait another month until the voucher is about to expire, just to see whether the Axon 8 is announced.
try topcashback and quidco. they are offering 8% cashback. I did this for my 128gb from Ali express

Oh, excellent thinking! I actually used TopCashback when i bought my ZUK Z2 from Banggood back in November, but haven't been on the website since and so i'd completely forgotten about it. The cheapest Axon 7 on AliExpress is around £245 for the 64GB model, so minus a further 7.87% cashback would make it approximately £225. Very tempting!
Ideally the 128GB version would have been better but i'm not sure it's worth spending the additional money considering it's a +1 year old device and there's always the MicroSD slot available. Hopefully there's no import/customs charges on shipping to the UK as i'll never have ordered from AliExpress before. (I managed to avoid the taxes on my ZUK Z2 from Banggood by choosing the free shipping method!) The only thing i'm worried about with this phone is the sudden influx of reports surrounding the 'shaky camera' issue. I assume the warranty will be almost non-existent when ordering from these Chinese websites?
no import charges on mine. I've noticed that the gold version is quite a bit cheaper. I wanted the grey. only thing to watch out for will be the fact that the seller will have rooted the phone to install Google play store and services. this isn't necessary. you'll need to download the build from ZTE (look elsewhere on this forum of how to do this). After that you'll receive the regular OTA updates first.

Thanks for all your assistance. I'm about 95% convinced at this point that the Axon 7 is the perfect device for me. Both colours seem nice but i'm slightly more tempted by the gold one, since all my previous devices have been black in colour which has become incredibly boring. Also, it would be nice to stand out from the crowd a little. The procedure with flashing the ZTE ROM sounds very familiar as the same thing was necessary with my ZUK Z2. It came with a Banggood 'shop ROM' that couldn't be updated via OTA to the latest version. I had to download Qualcomm Flash Image Loader onto my laptop and flash the latest firmware to the device manually.
The Axon 8 is perhaps only a few months away but i'm pretty sure it won't come anywhere near my budget. Ideally i'm looking to spend as little money as possible, and the Axon 7 ticks all the boxes with the exception maybe of an IR blaster. Unless the Axon 8 came in at under £350 for the 64GB version it simply wouldn't be a viable option. I wouldn't see the full benefits of a SD835 either since my usage consists only of basic web browsing and media consumption.
honestly don't worry. I'm on nova launcher and the phone flies. No lag at all. spigen rugged armour case is the way to go. you can even get Google assistant working using the home button. it's originally only configured for zte voice.
This phone is a game changer for ZTE and for "budget phones". The only thing that's lacking is the camera and it's not /that/ bad. It's just not top of the line but it works for the money I paid for it ($285 used). The stock rom is fine. It works, I don't like how slow the notifications come in and a few other quirks. Root it, but a LOS variant rom on it and be done with it. You won't be disappointed.
I bought mine at www.eudirect.shop - it was some 50 EUR cheaper than ordering directly from China and paying customs & tax. Still took almost three weeks to arrive.
