Are there any"package disabler" apps for LG? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I used EZ Package Disabler on my note7 and it was easy and fast. Are there any such apps for the V20? There are some built in apps that I can't uninstall or even disable.

Lets hope so but I haven't found one yet

There is barely bloat on the phone and it is very fast and snappy. You guys are Samsung traumatized. IMO no need for package disabler.

Agreed

mine is flying. took a minute to set it up though.
im loving it so far.

Why wouldn't package diabler pro or ez disabler work on this device?

You can try. I think both are for Samsungs.
I agree with some of the others. I've disabled apps that duplicate those I prefer... Google Messenger and Calendar as compared to the LG counterparts. But there's not nearly the bloat on this phone that Samsung packed into theirs, and the phone seems to run just fine. There's not the lag that my Note 7 had.

Package Disabler Pro was made for Samsung phones only. Not sure about ez disabler.

Definitely way less bloat than Samsung phones. But it has bloat, that I'd never use, nonetheless. Including a bunch from T-Mobile and several from LG. Some people just love min/maxing, just personal preference.

I agree also. You can disable several apps in settings and its very responsive.

I could stand to ditch the T-Mobile apps. They're a battery drain I do not need.

You can't disable them via the application manager? I know the T-mobile one wouldn't work via Samsung but I think I read somewhere that you don't have an issue on the LG. I haven't got a solid answer yet though.

I think all you need to do with that one is deny the permission then restart the phone. If you log in and accept the permission then it runs. I don't ever remember it in ram unless I specifically logged in and used it. Maybe it does use ram but not enough to notice it on the list

But, things that have worked with V10 have worked with V20. Did you even try it?
This debloater has worked with every phone I've tried it with (G4, V10, S7E, Note 5) so give it a shot before commenting.

Little hint its responses like this that killed development on previous lg devices.

I tried the Debloater program. I used to use it on my samsung before I found out about EZ Package Disabler. However on the V20 it only found 1 package. I guess its not working properly

What about LG Access Lock?

great program, but unfortunately it only sees one app, the LGupdate Wizard. I gotta find a way to remove the TMOBILE apps.

Freezing/Disabling Apps

There was an app that was developed for the S6 that allowed you to disable apps. I am trying to find the link but I wonder if it will work with the S7.
I found the link. I wonder if this will work on the S7. I might try it out.
you might try change your playstore modell to a s6

This works well and it's free... V3.90 Debloater
Can someone smarter than me say if using something like Package Disabler is better/more efficient than just manually disabling or making inactive via developer options? Does it do something extra?
I don't mind extra keystrokes, just want the most effective way to disable apps since root will never be in our S7 E VZW futures...

Galaxy App store - any reason not to disable it?

Hello, i just got my International Galaxy S7 edge (using it on AT&T) and wondering the point of Galaxy Apps store?
Is there any built in apps that I can ONLY get updates through the galaxy app store? I see some apps like Samsung browser and S health are available through the play store to get updates.
Will i miss out on any updates for apps by disabling the Galaxy App store?
A lot of Samsung apps update through the Galaxy App Store.

Disabling it also kills access to Edge Panel downloads. Took me a few minutes to realise after I had disabled it, why nothing was happening when I tapped 'Download' from the Edge Panel settings.
+Edge Feed, +Camera modes, basically most things Samsung hardware specific will be supported via Galaxy Apps.
I don't feel there's a big need to disable it, it doesn't seem to suck power when not in use, at least with all push and auto-update disabled.
can someone kindly guide how to disable this without rooting

A lot of apps for unrooted Samsung devices: Package Disabler Pro (Samsung), EZ Package Disabler (Samsung) , Package Disabler for Samsung and many others but you have to pay for it about a dollar or two. EZ Package Disabler is my favorite

There's an app called Debloater which is developed by XDA senior member @gatesjunior. It's a Windows OS based application so follow the link and follow the instructions. But be sure to enable any app disabled before updating your device both Play Store package enablers too
You have to ask yourself why you would disable anything that may come in useful at some stage?
You have a hugely powerful processor, a lot of RAM and decent storage plus Android is perfectly capable of handling tasks.
You will gain very little by doing so as has been demonstrated.

Verizon Galaxy S8 Delivered! 4/19

Just received my S8 today! Super stoked. Also, before I completely set up the phone, I didn't add any google accounts. I immediately went to disable all the bloatware and preinstalled apps I don't use. Not sure what Verizon did, but I was able to delete most of the bloatware that came on the device! The disable feature wasn't blocked out. Guess Verizon is finally giving the customers what they wanted. Was able to delete the following:
Verizon : Navigator, Caller ID, Cloud, Message+, NFL mobile, Slacker Radio & games
Google: Google Play/TV, Music, Hangouts ( I don't use any of these apps)
can you post a screenshot of what the settings menu looks like? i heard the verizon one looks different than the other carrier ones
Settings screenshots attached
Does the firmware still say it's a U model?

Yes, G950U
The model for the US versions are all the same except for Carrier specific S/W and bloat. Not much bloatware on VZW except noted in OP and a couple of games which I think are Samsung. There are a couple of Amazon apps which I use but otherwise its fairly clean.
Now to disable Bixby and remap the Bixby key.
Phone feels too narrow even to my smallish hands but very comfortable. No problems navigating so far.
my 2 cents

Only Verizon cloud is accessible. I tried using Samsung Cloud via nova shortcuts, but I can't get the backup button to work properly.
FYI, I had uninstalled all of the Verizon bloat I was allowed to right when I got the phone(12pm cst). Just a few minutes ago after opening voicemail (it downloaded visual) I noticed all of the bloat was back and couldn't be uninstalled...
I went ahead and did a factor reset which let me remove it again. I have now disabled DT Ignite which I assume is being used to push the bloat again.

I just wish they would allow us to uninstall all of their crap. I still have Message+, Caller Name ID, VZ protect, and Cloud all of which I don't use. Also have voicemail and my Verizon which I use. So what.. really only got to uninstall a couple better than none I guess. Probably wasn't worth my time.

Be sure you disable "DT Ignite". That is the app that install all the bloat.

Just JUMPED to G6

Well, I went into T-Mobile to jump from my S7E to the v20. I had been contemplating for weeks between the v20 & G6. The fact that the v20 had root made me choose that. After making sure they had the v20 in stock I wiped my edge & went down there only to find out the v20 was not eligible for the jump program. So I choose the G6. Nice phone. Feels good in the hand. Already missing root to re-install my backed up apps & getting rid of bloat. So now to find something to get rid of ad's.
Pat
I chose the G6 simply because it was so nice looking, i didnt think the lack of custom roms and that would be an issue but it turns out I do miss it.
Wish i had the knowledge to build them. Funny thing that, something that most people would have no knowledge of relating to phones is so important for us.
Still enjoying it though, KWGT & KLWP keep me entertained enough to make this beautiful screen shine.

Yep. I also tried it through Fdroid's app.
For ad removal on a non rooted phone, take a look at Adguard. Not as good as AdAway imo, but without root things are tougher.
It tacks up a local vpn to act as a conduit to be able to filter. The only downside for me is that a real vpn can't then be used, or I haven't figured out how to make it work; if I need s real vpn I temporarily disable Adguard.

which Package Disabler should i use?

there's around 2 or 3 Package Disabler on the play store currently. which one is best for our phone? they seem to all have very similar ratings.

like i said, those apps are useless to me because they require root. (i usedTitanium Backup pro for my other devices in the past though). I need a non-root solution.
