Any info about phone coming to eu ? - Moto Z Force Questions & Answers

So i live in Denmark, and would like to get the Moto Z force as my next phone..
At the moment i am using a Galaxy s7, but i would like to try something new now
I have been using samsung all my life now.

Z force will remain Verizon exclusive. Moto UK has confirmed this to me themselves. Importing is the only option.

Shuuin you need to ship this beast of a phone over straight away lol. I'm so happy with mine. Like dabber said in a previous post motos really are a breath of fresh air. I'd be surprised if you went back to a Samsung after using a Moto Z Force. Plus if you ship you know that it's very unlikely someone else will have the same phone.

Motorola delays Moto X Cyber Monday deal after site crash

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57...ys-moto-x-cyber-monday-deal-after-site-crash/
"Starting at 12 pm EST/9 am PST this Wednesday, we will relaunch the $349 promotion."
Good news!
So this gives me a bit to consider between:
1) Getting a Moto X DE on Wednesday
2) Ordering a Nexus 5
3) Sticking with my HTC One XL until July -> contract renewal time
Wondering if some Moto X owners can weigh in. The thing that is attracting me to this phone the most is the battery life. My HOX battery (I feel) is going bad. Many symptoms which point to this, listing them all would probably be too OT. Bottom line is that with no "misbehaving apps" or anything - I'm seeing maybe 2 hours of screen time before my phone dies, on a good day. So trying to figure out if I want to put up with this until July and see what's available then or jumping on this deal.
I see there isn't much development going on for this device compared to the Nexus 5. But honestly most of my flashing ROMs/kernels have been vain attempts to improve battery life on my previous and current phone. Is there a point to flashing custom ROMs to this phone? From what I've read the greater majority of people actually prefer the stock Motorola ROM with their custom apps over CM, AOSP, etc. Going back to the Nexus 5, which is suppose to always get the latest and greatest from Google, the Moto X is already on 4.4 as well, any thoughts as to if this trend will continue from Motorola?
I've also read of some issues with the camera - can anyone weigh in here on the camera quality? While I'm not one of those people who snap a million photos a day - I still like to have something reliable in my pocket to take a good photo when the situation arises.
I hope this isn't too rambling and terribly OT. I would appreciate any input.
Two cents: I'm fairly certain that the promotion on Wednesday is only for Motomaker devices, and not Dev Editions. Those sold out already, I believe.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
They've stated on their twitter account that the dev editions have sold out and will not be available on the subsequent days of the deal. You could order a t-mobile variant which is the same as the developer edition with the exception of voiding the warranty when unlocking the boot loader.
I managed to get a developer edition in the second batch yesterday, but I'm still debating on canceling and trying for a customized t-mobile variant. I currently have an AT&T version that I'm going to sell, but the Moto X is easily the best android phone I've used. The combination of size, battery life and additional features is just hard to beat. My previous two phones where the HTC One and SIII and I would personally take the Moto over either of them and the S4.

Bummer. Thanks for the heads up re: DE. If I buy the Motomaker version - I can still root, but not unlock bootloader, is that correct? Honestly from what I've been reading - rooting will probably be sufficient.

If you buy the t-mobile version you can still unlock the boot loader, they just state that it will void the warranty. I don't find myself needing to do much to the Moto X, I just don't like being at the mercy of AT&T and their notoriously slow updates and bloatware which is why I'm switching. The t-mobile and gsm dev edition are the same device internally.
The sale yesterday was the biggest cluster eff I've ever seen for a phone. I had a dev edition in my cart multiple times yesterday and was never able to check out. All were sold out but today mysteriously some gsm phones in stock for normal price. No luck on them honoring the price. Total b.s.. I said I would never own a Moto phone after the defy abd cliq and was almost there...but I can honestly say after the bs yesterday with the site crashing at nearly the start Motorola needs to step up for the developers. I am at a loss as to why if the t mobile version is almost the same why they wouldn't sell a few more dev phones on Wed and Mon.

They may be the same but you're unable to load the dev image on the tmobile device. That and warranty are the deal breaker.

Is the Moto X still worth it?

I have my upgrade this week on Verizon, I've been taking a very serious look at the moto X. Motomaker is one of the coolest things on the scene, as well as some of the moto specific features such as active display. The specs just worry me a tad bit when I put it up against something like a G2 which is in the same price range. Many say the specs on this phone are not a indicator of performance, and I actually like the feeling of the Moto X compared to all the other phones I've tried. So should I just throw my spec worry to the wind?
This phone can easily do anything you want it to do. Hardware specs are not a key decision factor here. It is powerful enough.

Don't focus on the specs! I just left a Note 3 and switched to the Moto X ... Don't regret it one bit!
Tapatalked via my moto x
I just did. Came from the HTC One about a week ago and no regrets! No difference in performance on daily tasks and Active Display is the best new feature I've seen in a long time. I did go with the Developer Edition though.
Maybe read the 20 other similar threads....lots of opinions there that I'm sure many aren't going to repeat again.

Got mine a few days ago. The phone is fantastic. It may have modest hardware, but the stock ROM runs great on it.
Best phone I have owned!

I would stay its still worth it because the price has done down too. Its a great phone and runs fast and smooth but its also a good deal at almost half the price of the other flagships of its generation..
This has been the best device I have purchased in my four years on android phones. I've had the GS4 and HTC one and this phone IMHO performs just as good if not better.
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk
Don't focus on the spec's. Focus on how it performs. My X performs great. Despite having a Samsung Galaxy S4 in my drawer for work that I could stick my personal SIM in and use, I PURCHASED a Moto X Developer Edition for Verizon in early November (two days before the first price drop, when there was no other option to get 32gig X on VZW).
Also keep in mind, if you plan to root, the Moto Maker and retail Verizon Moto X have a locked bootloader which can not be unlocked. While SlapMyMoto 1.0 works to root phones on 4.4, It has a few steps, including flashing older roms first, etc. In reading this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538896&page=69 there are reports that root can survive the 4.4.2 update, but it appears the "write protection disable" provided by MotoWpNoMo doesn't survive. Therefore the Developer Edition Moto X for Verizon, which can have its bootloader unlocked and is quicker/easier to root, might be worth looking at.
I have always been about the latest and greatest smart phone and wanted the best specs. When I got the X, I was skeptical. I am now a true believer in that the greatest specs are not needed. Go for the X.
Mine is arriving tomorrow con UK!!, I'm ****ing excited!!. I bought even know in Lenovo bought Motblablabla!!, I don't care I have MotoG and happy to have it so I don't wanna think tomorrow when I'll get MotoX between my hands on!!

Agree with all previous comments - I'm coming from a HTC ONE X, X+, ONE, and even a Sony Xperia ZL in regards to recent phones and the Moto X for some reason just makes me
The HTC ONE was really good in terms of Android phones and the build quality is still impressive. However, in terms of every day use, snappiness, battery life, integration of core services - the Moto X is nearly perfect (in regards to today's phones). Things can be always improved on any phone (screen if you need text to be razor sharp / camera if you are a vampire that only takes pics at night), but considering all the promos and the decent support from Motorola to keep their customers happy - it's worth taking the risk and seeing if you like it (not to mention you can always return it)!
There is paranoia from people regarding the Lenovo deal - who cares. I'm in the tech industry and will probably have a new phone next year anyways. If the Moto X2 is awesome I'll buy it even if it's owned by Lenovo. If something else is better, then they'll get my business. Who cares - just enjoy what we have now that is awesome...and that awesomeness is the Moto X.
Note: I was not paid by Moto to reply LOL
Buy the Moto X
I bought two Moto X's and can say unequivocally that they are the best phones I've ever had - and I've had cell phones from the very beginning. Don't focus on the specs - focus on the user experience. The size, performance, battery life and feature makes the X a first-rate product.
Plus, building it on MotoMaker is really cool.
I say do it unless you can hold out til the end of Summer for the "X2" lol. I left the N5 for this when I got in on a promo for it over the holidays. This is my favorite Android phone so far and I've had a lot! Nexus S, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3, HTC One, Nexus 5, and probably others I am forgetting lol. The extra features like Active Display, Touchless Controls, and "Drive Mode" are super cool. This phone performs just fine given the "midrange" specs and the fact I customized the colors to my liking makes me like it even more.
I love my moto x and believe that it's worth the money to purchase outright without a contract. With a family of 5, I've had a LOT of "flagship" phones. After receiving my Moto X, I'm thinking about giving my S4 to my 14yr. old son and buying another Moto X for my business line.
I'm debating the moto x too...I might need a new phone cause mine is bricked but i cant help and think a new generation of phones are coming out soon
Best phone I have owned. Very snappy. Love all the extras, like twist to open camera - no more tapping away to get a picture.

Motorola Droid Turbo VS Samsung Galaxy 6

Hi everyone....I live over in London, UK, where physical QWERTY keyboard phones are not so popular anymore. I bought a Motorola Droid 4 on US Ebay and had my cousin post it over to me, then my daughter dropped it one night when it was charging. The charging area broke. I took it to several shops here in the UK...everyone said they could not fix it.
So, am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S3 that a friend lent me...I normally HATE touchscreen keyboard phones and really want a physical QWERTY keyboard phone. .I checked with my phone contractor T Mobile/EE, who said the only physical keyboard phone they had was a Blackberry.....but am not too keen on BB. I kind of like the number of available apps on Android phones. I was thinking of finally throwing in the towel about a QWERTY phone, which lead me to consider the Motorola Droid Turbo ( which is NOT sold in the UK ).....was wondering if it will work. in the UK without any major hiccups. I saw a post in a thread where a guy in Ireland said it worked fine for him....was wondering where would be the best place to buy one and was wondering how it would stack up against the upcoming Galaxy 6.........
Thoughts views opinions, suggestions eagerly anticipated and welcomed in advance..thanks
Maybe moto maxx is better choise, is a variant of droid turbo with unlocked bootloader, i think galaxy s6 not is good as all think
Its funny how u want people to compare the Turbo with a phone which isn't even officially released yet!

Nec Terrain, is android 4.0 which is a little dated but, it is water proof, and quad-band unlocked but most important, qwerty physical keyboard.
Price is $85 bucks and has great reviews.

Physical keyboards are going the way of the dinosaur. I suggest going with a modern phone and adapting to a touch keyboard, I understand it takes some adjustment but they continue to improve as time goes on, unlike physical keyboards which are stagnant and nearly dead already.
You should take a good look at the Sony Xperia Z3 (standard and compact). IMO those are the best phone ever made and I'd rather have one than my Turbo. Unfortunately, Verizon's Z3v isn't as good as the regular Z3. I still love my Turbo, but I can't help but think I'd be happier with the smaller Z3c (especially if I ever drop the Turbo in water ).
Good luck!

I agree that you should look at giving up the physical keyboard. I was just like you several years ago. I would not use anything but a physical keyboard and couldn't possibly see myself using a touch keyboard. Than I reluctantly made the switch. And I fell in love with it. Not only are you extremely limited in choice of phones by requiring a physical keyboard you are also adding bulk to the phone. And I can type way faster on the touch phone than I could on the physical.
Everybody has their own preference and needs but I think if you give it a serious shot you'll find yourself wondering why you waited so long to make the leap. Just like I did.

What would you do?

So I had issues with my S4 and it was still under warranty. Sent it in to Square Trade. The phones they sent back to me I had issues with as well. Square trade offered me to send in my phone and they will send me a check for 449.99. for my phone.
I'm debating on taking this offer.
My upgrade is Oct 30. I have a back up phone it's the S2.
Should I take the Money?
Another - Any suggestions on a new phone?
Thanks!
I'd definitely take the check. A brand new Galaxy S4 now can be bought for around $220 so $449.99 is more than you will ever get if you tried to sell it.
As for the new phone suggestions, it depends on what you want in a phone. You can get Galaxy S5 for $300 or LG G4 for $454 or Moto X Pure for $399.99
So basically, you can have newer phone for under $450 or just little more.

They're all rootable, but if you like flashing AOSP ROMs and want phone with more development, avoid the Galaxy S5 I linked to. It's AT&T version and they lock their phones pretty heavily, especially Samsung phones. Even developers here still can't unlock bootloader on our S4 and the phone came out 2 years ago!
Moto X Pure is best choice if you enjoy changing up ROMs since Motorola supports development scene. LG G4 is fairly new so there's not much development yet(root is available, though), but seeing LG G3, I'm sure it won't stay that way for long.
Since your upgrade is in October, wait for Google's announcement for their new Nexus phones on September 29. It might be something you like.

I was on a rom before I sent my phone in. All I'm really wanting with my phone is to be rooted and have Xposed on.
The 29th is right around the corner and I can wait to see what they have going on!

Philippine Moto Z Play Thread

Is there a thread for PH users?
Got mine from MemoX not more than a week ago and I couldnt be happier.
Coming from the nexus 6, I wanted a phone with a big screen, near stock rom and dual sim. I preordered V20 but eventually cancelled. I was also eyeing OPT as it was cheap with awesome specs but in the PH you will have to deal with 3rd party resellers or order from the US.
Then, Moto released moto z along with its kin and eventually, the dual sim variant ( initially, only single sim was available)which made my decision a bit easier.
I am very happy with this phone. On paper, specs are meh but in real life usage, WOW!
Anyone else in the PH rocking the play?

Not yet but will on January. Wait I thought the dual sim version for the Z play is available only in EU. Did you also opt for extended warranty on MemoX?
No extended warranty was offered and I didnt ask.
A few weeks back I was speaking with a moto rep in social media and they said only single sim was offered. When I went to memox in megamall last fri, i was surprised to see that they now offer dual sim on z and z play. So I was sold right then and there.

That's nice. How's the phone performing so far? Battery-wise and everyday use
I still have the habit of charging my phone when I get to the office and back home. Like I said, I was coming from the nexus 6 where I always reach 40% at the end of the day. But with this, I never go down to 70%. Battery life is subjective so my experience may be diff from others.
Battery life is excellent and like what reviews said it never lags. Actually, the only lag I have experienced was on facebook messenger. So I think that is because of that crappy app.
Great phone, you wont be dissapointed.
