Not gonna happen if ever, due to dm-verity security. Kingroot will not work on mm and probably never will for the same reasons. Locked Bootloader root has been impossible since the z3+ was released(someone correct me if I'm wrong)m5 is the only Xperia released with no dm-verity security after the z3+, N will be exactly the same unlocked bootloader root only and no way to back up ta keys currently either hence why I'm waiting for a while. If you have a xa with a locked down bootloader you won't be rooting it anytime soon.

Nougat is coming!! Got this screen today:

Bloody typical the xa will be the last xperia model to get N in frigin March17. It's not right midrange or not that it should have to wait till after all the xz, Xc, X, z5+z3+ range gets there updates. I certainly didn't get this device to wait until last for the update especially nearly 6mths later. Pains me to say this but if it's true I may get rid and jump ship I've left a polite rant on the Sony support forum software and applications N update thread informing Sony that this is a sure way to loose the many already unhappy xa owners already wishing they hadn't brought it probably won't do any good but worth a try.
Not impressed at all

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Arc getting Android 2.3.4

There's still no confirmation as to when it will be headed to the soon-to-be-released Verizon Xperia Play, but Recombu is reporting that at least some iterations of the phone will be getting upgraded to Android 2.3.4 next week, at which point the Xperia Arc will also get bumped up to the same version. Assuming there's no surprises in the next week, that would seem to make them the first non-Nexus phones to get the update.

Yup. Looks like SE is keeping their promise.

As far as I know you will still be able to update with an unlocked bootloader and keep it unlocked. You will however most likely lose root.

DO NOT UPDATE! all signs point to the fact that you will brick your phone if you update with an unlocked bootloader.
When costum roms appear it probably won;t take long for them to implement 2.3.4. I advice to wait for that if your bootlaoder is unlocked.
Sony Ericsson has confirmed that you will be able to still get SEUS updates as long as you carry on using stock SE firmware, even if the bootloader is unlocked.
Click to collapse
It’s also noted that, while Sony Ericsson have provided this service, using it may void your warranty. Also if you change the bootloader or load custom ROMs on to the handset, you will not be able to receive updates provided by Sony Ericsson through SEUS. However if unlocking the boot loader is all you do, you will be able to continue to receive updates from Sony Ericsson as usual.

SE themselves allowed the boot loader to be unlocked and not some third party unlocking it. So surely as long as the boot loader is unlocked and nothing else is done it should be ok?
Maybe rooting your phone and removing bloat makes SE think you have modified the firmware? Not sure but some guy on SE fourms http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/75368 claims to be able to use SEUS to repair his Arc with an unlocked bootloader and the thread is from the 18th may.

OTA with unlocked bootloader

Hi can we do a ota from stockfirmware with a unlocked bootloader or with seus?
Hey, don't do OTA with unlocked bootloader! DON'T. Many people have already bricked their arc and play by doing so, including me. There is a fix for this brick already, but warning beforehand!

NEW firmware (10.1.1.A.1.319 and 10.3.A.0.407) certified for the Xperia Z

Sony has certified two new firmware's at PTCRB !!!
The first one based on 4.1.2 (i think), it is the 10.1.1.A.1.319 at Jun 4, 2013.
The second one based on 4.2.2 or maybe 4.3 (i think), it is the 10.3.A.0.407 at Jun 4, 2013, too.

Thats crazy, why became the C6606/6616 (the US T-Mobile Version) the newest firmware first. The funny you can buy this version of Xpereia Z only by T-Mobile US.
For two weeks i became the .253 and wait now of the .307, two weeks update is the new way of Sony update policy .

We're talking about flashing with flashtool, but how many people that own the phone never heard/went on XDA how many of them never heard of flashtool. All of those people rely on their operators to push updates.

That's right. Before flashing anything to your phone, it's always a good idea to create a backup of the original firmware customization, so that you can easily restore your phone to factory state if required, especially if it's difficult to find an FTF file online with your customization.
Luckily, there is also a way to return to your original customization without FTF file, but it requires a rooted phone with a locked bootloader:
[GUIDE] Download ANY firmware customization with SUS and create an FTF with Flashtool

It means Sony has not updated TMO with the info yet. That is understandable considering the international models don't even have a test version according to PTRCB. Once it's in testing (for TMO version: D6616) it will be listed.
Since you have the international version you will probably get it much earlier than us.

Xperia Z4 tablet and Android 7.0 Nougat

Hi,
Good news,it seems that Sony would plan an update of our tablet:
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2016/08/23/sony-xperia-and-android-7-0-nougat/
thank you to Sony to keep this tablet up to date
Good news. But I guess it'll be after new year(((
Very good news. It's nice to see great support for this tablet.
Great news! This will likely be our last significant update - and I'm guessing the Z4 Tablet is probably Sony's last entry in that segment of the market, too* -- so hopefully Nougat is all it's cracked up to be!
* The Tablet Z, Z2 Tablet and Z4 Tablet were all announced on almost exactly a one-year schedule. That means we should've expected a replacement last late February / early March. The fact we've gone 18 months without a replacement suggests strongly that Sony has given up on tablets.
Seems like other companies are toning it down too
