Multiple SMS Applications - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
i own an OnePlus 2 which is rooted with the Exodus ROM with android 6.0 also the xposed Framework is installed.
At the Moment I try to use two SMS apps because i like some stuff in both but they both have disadvantages.
Is there any possibility to send SMS via both apps? Because everytime I try it I have to change the default messenger app.
I also try to change the permissions of the apps but it didn't help
have a nice day
Sir Hamburger

Hi, what you are hoping to do cannot be possible since the system accepts one sms app at a time, it's deeply coded and works with the sms push and the network provider. so you can't have both sms apps corresponding to the same network, system or device. the option is just not available yet. you have to choice either way.

First of all thank you steps parku for the answer.
I solved it now with a tasker profile with the secure settings extension
If you start an other sms app tasker sets it on default.
Kind regards
Sir Hamburger

[HOW-TO] Restoring SMS Messages in KitKat (Specifically for SMS Backup+)

Hello fellow Blade lovers. My apologies if this topic has already been posted in the Blade section... I did a few keyword searches to check first, but didn't find anything, so thought I might make a post just in case others are having the same problem. Hopefully many of you will be loving and using KitKat for the trusty Blade brought to us by the amazing Zeelog over in Modaco.
If you are coming from another ROM you will most likely be backing up all your apps, call/text logs and other things. Whilst doing this process one of the minor problems I found was the change in permissions of how SMS messaging works in KitKat and how this affects SMS Backup/Restore apps - namely that when restoring text messages they don't re-appear. To be clear, this is nothing to do with Zeelog, this is a change to the way KitKat deals with messaging.
I cannot take any credit for this information - I did some searching on the internet and found a few different sites discussing this issue and possible solutions. All I am doing here is just highlighting the way to get it working specific to Zeelog's KitKat for Blade users when using the app SMS Backup+ by Jan Berkel. Of course, any ROM that has the 'App Ops' functionality will be able to employ this same fix. The theory would suggest that it would work for other similar SMS backup apps as well, but I have only tested it with this app. In brief (and from what I can make out), it relates to a change in KitKat where only the default designated SMS application has permissions to write to the SMS database.
In order to get it working, you need 'App Ops' - which Zeelog's KitKat has. So here is what you do after installing SMS Backup+ but before you use it to restore your text messages:
Go into Settings>Privacy
Go into the first option Privacy Guard
Press the MENU button (or select the 3 square dots top right on the screen) and select Advanced
Scroll to the right twice so you get to the MESSAGING section
Scroll down until you find SMS Backup+ and then select it
Scroll down until you find the parameter Write SMS DB and you will see it is set to DENIED
Change it to ALLOWED
That's it. Now when you restore your call and text logs you will get all your text messages back. From what I can see, there is no reason why you cannot leave it set to ALLOWED. Looking at the features of SMS Backup+, you can automate backups but not automate restores, so I cannot see any reason for putting it back to DENIED. I cannot comment on any other backup/restore apps as this is my app of choice - but I guess that if you are not sure then DENY it once you have restored your logs. Hope this helps.
It just occurred to me that if you are using a ROM which doesn't have 'App Ops' available, you could always installed Xposed, then install the App Ops module.

How to delete 15000+ spam messages ?

When selecting all the text messages in the Spam box the app just hangs and asks me to wait or stop the app.
There must be some app to help with this ?
Is it accessible from third party apps?
I have tried many popular sms apps that claims to delete spam, but it seems that Lollipop 5.1.1 blocks them from being deleted via an app
I'm not sure, try in safe mode. You need root.
Hi
Try MOBILedit . its a software to manage your phone via PC through USB / Bluetooth connection.
It can help with what you wanna achieve here.
I been using it for quite sometime. It makes managing phone easy.
I have just tried Mobiledit, but Spam messages is not seen anywhere under the Messaging option - just normal Messages.
Have tried looking in Files & User Files, but do not know where it is located ?
Also I do not want to root my phone (yet) due to KNOX warranty issues.
15.000 spam messages?!
Djeez...

6P with 6.0.1 won't keep default SMS app

Hi, so I recently started having issues with my default SMS app sticking. Only change I've made was installing a new SMS app (wanted something different than Verizon Message+)
Android 6.0.1 MTC20F.
It keeps switching around to any app that has SMS capability, so SMS Backup, Messenger (Facebook), Titanium Backup, but never Evolve (which I want) or Verizon Message+.
If I uninstall ALL those other apps, it works, but the problem is that I use those other apps. I've denied them SMS access and turned off SMS settings in the apps, set the default in the system settings.
Am I missing something? I just don't get it, never had an issue like this before.

Notifications problems

Hi to everyone!
I have many friends that have Huawei smartphones and all them find out
the same problem with the notifications of some apks (Whatsapp and Telegram).
I have tried to set them like protected apk and look if others options
can block their notifications.
I have tried to install 3rd party apk to force notifications but it works
sometimes.
This problem came out when the smartphones have been upgraded
from Android 5.x to 6.0...from EMUI 3.x to EMUI 4.x
Someone said that the problem is the EMUI interface....with EMUI 5.x and Android 7
there is the same problem?
Have someone find out a definitive solution?
The Huawei have said something?
Have a nice day!
I had the same trouble with some application, the method that worked for me was this one : http://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/...uawei-phone-heres-how-to-fix-it/#7c4eb3c78aa7
Also in the battery manafer, set the alim mode to "performance"
I have been same problem with push notifications and i find a way to resolve it. Applications with that issue must be locked in task manager.
If you can tweak that applications (gmail, whatapp, viber, skype, etc) to be "immune" at "close all" command of task manager
(with Lock symbol at upper right corner) that remain active when screen is off, even after restart the device.
With that applications locked, is not important if phone is in Smart/Performance mode or if an application is protected or not...
The trick is to lock a application in task manager. Somebody can try this solution and post result here...
From 2-3 weeks my device work properly regarding push notifications , tested from another phone any time, all notifications appear ok.
The real problem
Hi!
Thanks to everyone!
I have tried various solutions, but finding however an anomaly.
If arriving messages with Whatsapp or Telegram by direct contact all work,
if the message comes from a group the notifications will not come unless arrive a direct message.
Someone has encountered the same thing?
Have a nice day!
If its only group message, it may habe somethinf to do with the group being "Silent", check the group settings !

Thanks for your response.
I deliberately silenced some groups, others have notifications attived but them only comes when I open the application or if comes a message from a direct contact.
Phone battery manager. Put social chat apps that need to have real-time notifications as protected.
In settings, apps, advanced, ignore optimizations.
Whitelist the same apps.
That's all.
Hi!
Thanks for everyone.
The problem seems to be almost gone. On two days of testing only twice notifications groups were arrived late or partially.
I hope it is a definite solution and not an occasional event.
Have a nice day.
I have this problem with Twitter and Gmail;
As Twitter is protected and on the ignore optimization list but gmail is no where to be found in both menus;
Both apps are allowed to use what ever network (Data or WiFi)
I've been reading a lot about this one, but luckily never experienced it myself. Every notification arrives on time.
Sent from HUAWEI P9 lite via Tapatalk
I've tried everything mentioned but the only thing that worked for me was to use a VPN app on mobile data then I get all notifications. Never missed any after using VPN try it. I use Opera Max but there are many others as well.

Delayed notifications for WhatsApp message

Hello!
If I remember well, for many phones, on some custom rom's, whatsapp messages come with a delay. Meaning, at some point, even if WhatsApp is not battery optimized, it seems that is put to sleep by doze, and only if I open the application, form time to time, then I received my messages.
ON stock I didn't had this problem.
I restored WHatsApp from TItanium backup.
Afterwards I installed again, over
Any ideas for fix or workaround?
THank you
Hi,
I've the same problem with WhattsApp, Skype and Viber!
Messages does not arrive... I need to open the app and do something to force a refresh.
But I've rooted (with Magisk) and installed both AFWall and AdAway, maybe this is the reason.

AFWall shouldn't stop notifications if you haven't any firewall rules to stop the app from accessing internet. AdAway shouldn't have any affect too if you haven't blacklisted related IP's.
In most cases this behaviour is ROM related.

1. What ROM are you using?
2. Does whatsapp automatically show notifications with a delay or it only notifies after you open it?
3. Are you using greenify?
4. Is background data restricted for whatsapp?
5. Is privacy guard enabled for whatsapp?

Hi, I had the same problem with gmail, facebook messenger and whatsapp. "Diasable ad blocking" in adaway solved it. I dunno, how. I dunno why.
Is there some way to have adaway block ads and not interfere with gmail/fb messenger/whatsapp?
Edit: Discovered this: https://github.com/AdAway/AdAway/wiki/LogDNS
