[Kernel][EMUI4.0][MM]Honor 5x - Honor 5X Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey dudez,...the mm Emui4.0 kernel is out
http://download-c.huawei.com/downlo...oadId=80307&version=319083&siteCode=worldwide
Has the Fingerprint sensor support
All features available..[emoji108] [emoji106]
Sent from my KIW-L21 using XDA-Developers mobile app

where do we get the whole update package for KIW-L21 waiting for update EMUI 4.0

Thanks @Lonath, maybe now the devs of third party ROMs will have the source to implement fingerprint support.

yes but what is that for
i checked it out and downloaded it
this kernel is for EMUI 4.0 android 6.0
what how can we use it to update my device
i downloaded and transfered to dload folder
it doesn't work
my device KII-L21

This is not the kernel but are only sources

mmmm
I guess you mean by sources only that these files need to be used as ROM structure?

This means that could we have fingerprint support on CM??
Enviado desde mi KIW-L21 mediante Tapatalk

What we really need is official cyanogenmod support, then hopefully more devs will use that as a base to get more ROM variants

But the boot loader is locked and is it normal that huawei allow people to build ROM on it's sources?
Is it safe I mean and will it be stable like official ROM from huawei?

Huawei allows to unlock your bootloader, but with warranty void.. like all manufacturers

ok bro if they allow me with warrenty void that means its not safe to do it so i guess will wait for the official MM update isn't that better?

not really, your still stuck with crappy EMUI 4.0 on top
With CM13 your Stock android the way it's meant to be.
The phones warranty is not worth 2 cents to me. The phone costs the same as most peoples deductible for warranty replacement.

I knew that false allegation would come back round the corner !!!
Don't say unlocking bootloader and thus root/fashing custom ROM would void our warranty unless you specify which countries are affected by this rule and for which part of your device !
According to the European Directive 1999/44/CE, replacing the original operating system with another does not void the statutory warranty that covers the hardware of the device for two years unless the seller can prove that the modification caused the defect.
For the rest of the world, this rule does vary from country to country, so does the mess, specially in the US...

absolutely correct :good: :good:

That's very nice to know but iam sure in my country they hardly cover hardware warranty without modifications so what if modified Device??
One more question if you suggest a ROM for me which one could be the best?

Iam sure about what am saying I've bought Asus transformer book and after 20 days it has started to freeze and repoot gave it back to Asus waited for 2 months without an accurate date to receive my device or refund and I made a big problem there finally gave me the refund .

I had a good luck with unlocking my bootloader and installing custom recovery i got my phone rooted and uninstalled many system apps now the device performance is much better .
I just wonder if any one have worked with the sources in huawei web site and have created an android MM ROM
I wanna give it a try ?

Thank you

A Bit Confused
So, if I flash Cyanogenmod on my Honor 5x then flash this kernel, 1. Will it be compatible? and 2.The fingerprint sensor will work?

Availability of International Firmware (Maybe flashing over Chinese firmware)

So I've noticed that there are some international firmware available online:
http://aria-file.com/?cd=Huawei/M/Mate 8 - NXT
Unfortunately, seems to be all Iranian sites, and they all want money for the downloads.
Anyone see these files out in the wild somewhere? I'd like to try flashing the international firmware over my Chinese firmware.
hm not sure but it looks like im able to download the roms without having to pay. will try again from my laptop (on mobile now) and report back...

Thanks! I can't even seem to make an account. Whenever I do, I try to login and it's called inactive.
nope, false alarm unfortunately, cant access the site either, even with a registered account....bummer!
im sure, additional sources will pop up in due time though
I managed to pay for it and get the latest firmware for both international models. I also successfully converted my Chinese model to an international model, in terms of software. I will write more in a separate post after figuring this out a little more.

Someone tested which Firmware is better the chinese B137 or international B133?
well with B133 theres definitely less hassle configuring the google apps and services also got the world record in geekbench for released mobile devices with other AL10 phones with international firmware getting consistently higher scores than stock al10 and stock l29 phones

Android 6.0 marshmallow update warning!

Due to many requests for the now removed update file I have decided to make this post to inform everyone that the update is NOT the official release. The post was a mistake and the update was intended for beta testers only. This has been confirmed by asus and multiple other beta testers. Anyone who has already updated to the file will most likely find they will not receive any further updates due to using the beta file on a non registered device which means the system won't know to push out the file to your device. It is recommended if you have the update downloaded but don't have it installed that you do not update to the beta file and wait a little longer for the official release.
so if i updated to this MM Update not being beta tester i am scr3wed ? or i will be able to update fota manualy ?
Yes, it is a beta tester only update not a public release, if you install it on a non-beta tester device, you have to install public release manually later.
Also due to the reports of almost everyone that installed it onto their ze550ml device ending up bricked and the device not returning from being bricked it is highly recommended you stay away from this update, I haven't seen anything from official beta testers getting bricked by it on their ze550ml but it is happening to most non beta tester devices
so once the official rom comes, can i still update from beta to official? or it is recommended that i downgrade to 5.0 .184 for now? non-registered beta device here..

Once the official release comes out, if you are running the beta you will be required to manually download and install the official file as you won't be able to do a direct update to the official firmware. A wipe and factory reset will most likely be required as well to stop any issues caused from going from beta to official, although it would be recommended to do that anyway even if going from L to MM just in case you get any issues.
this clear things up for me, thanks!
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using XDA-Developers mobile app
No need to worry if you've already installed it (assuming you didn't get bricked, and not all 550 got bricked because I certainly didn't) - once it is officially released I think you just need to wait a few days and flash the full firmware file over it when it is uploaded.
Considering the title of the thread introducing it was "Android 6 Beta System Update [ZE550ML, ZE551ML]", I figured it was obvious that it was a beta and, like all beta software, use at your own risk. Just sayin....

This is incorrect, asus posted in there official releases page with the firmware instead of the hidden beta tester thread which is where the confusion came from, not the unofficial thread hear on xda

Hence why I said almost as the reports of bricked devices heavily outweighed reports of successful installs on the 550 but good to see someone confirming that a non beta tester 550 device successfully installed the update
Indeed,if you upgrade from .184,like i did, with all your apps, you have issues.I've noticed those so far:No 4g/phone company data,no fast charging, battery drain, but after i did factory reset and cache wipe(twice, both) from its recovery, all is working properly(so far).I've also noticed new stuff, like Easy pay in Menu!Messenger and Gmail, the default sms/email apps...I'll get back to you in case i'll notice something weird.I will try now again for Twrp and Su,but i don't think it will work(again).Maybe now everything's working in that section as well, but i'm afraid, there aren't compatible with Zenfone 2 MM version yet

November 2017 confirmed
There is a kernel in one of the brandnew l09 updates on ff that is absolutely awesome. Its says unreleased on the about kernel but it works so great and has support for power killing apps and best is the fingerprint issue is gone . I took it and rooted it for kangb589.
If someone has a flashable zip that converts al to south america 605 cust and oem info i could create a zip flashable via twrp system , it was already pree rooted r w rw for delevopment.
You didn't answer previous few questions... Did you actually flashed Android O? If yes, any screenshots? If not then say so so people stop expecting..... Lol. Not an issue.....
Yes I used dload method about 3 times before successful and to boot into recovery , facrory reset and I had to use emui 5.0 supersu in the recovery 3.1.1.1 and then it booted , developer options worked also. Just broken wifi , I did not get into testing much , there is a link on asia site talking about the release. It also appears that the l09 is being sold in many more regions now , huawei doesn't communicate at all even with sr beta testers. Just update and hope it doesn't brick is huaweis way of thinking I guess.
I installed it on a l29 that was debranded to DL 17 used stock recovery to factory reset and then installed 3.1.1.1. Basically same thing as how we installed the original beta for noughat.

You can't download it with the normal way. You need to use the RedLotus way to flash this Russian ROM, because the Huawei phones are region locked by default. But if you unlock the bootloader, install the modified stock recovery with all of the identification removed to install any EMUI ROMs as you please and use the RedLotus method, you can use this ROM on your EU Honor 8.

Actually, we do have the resources necessary for rebranding to C10
Stock firmware files:

I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. To begin with, if you are not on C10 model, you need to rebrand your device first, update to Nougat, unlock bootloader, root and then update to Oreo using ADB method or RedLotus method. All the necessary guides and resources are available in the forum

I haven't noticed the topic is about V870ds, I was talking about H870ds. Please keep that in mind. And also I warn you that all following actions are risky and users are doing it at their own risk. For more information about upgrading to pie check this russian forum.
0. Back up the data of your phone
1. You have to install Australian firmware 20q (Australia H870DS20q_00_OPEN_AU_DS_OP_0802.kdz) via LG UP using Download Mode (you can also use UPPERCUT)
You can download the firmware here
1a. It is recommended to factory reset the phone after upgrading (though I didn't do that, works fine but still)
2. Download the FOTA update file (again I warn you that it is a beta firmware!!!) from here . Use LG UP or UPPERCUT to flash the firmware in the "FOTA update" mode (again pay attention to the flashing mode, it must be change to FOTA update)
3. It is done, you're now on pie
P.S. In case you missed the beginning: you are doing that at your own risk. Google pay might not work on Pie since the firmware is not yet certified. KEEP IN MIND IT'S A BETA
Also I strongly recommend to check the manual on the russian forum
