Availability of International Firmware (Maybe flashing over Chinese firmware) - Mate 8 General

So I've noticed that there are some international firmware available online:
http://aria-file.com/?cd=Huawei/M/Mate 8 - NXT
Unfortunately, seems to be all Iranian sites, and they all want money for the downloads.
Anyone see these files out in the wild somewhere? I'd like to try flashing the international firmware over my Chinese firmware.

hm not sure but it looks like im able to download the roms without having to pay. will try again from my laptop (on mobile now) and report back...

Thanks! I can't even seem to make an account. Whenever I do, I try to login and it's called inactive.

nope, false alarm unfortunately, cant access the site either, even with a registered account....bummer!
im sure, additional sources will pop up in due time though

I managed to pay for it and get the latest firmware for both international models. I also successfully converted my Chinese model to an international model, in terms of software. I will write more in a separate post after figuring this out a little more.

Someone tested which Firmware is better the chinese B137 or international B133?

well with B133 theres definitely less hassle configuring the google apps and services also got the world record in geekbench for released mobile devices with other AL10 phones with international firmware getting consistently higher scores than stock al10 and stock l29 phones

Where did you find this update? The last update from OPPO was dated 0413. This is likely an experimental build not meant for the public or its a Chinese firmware update -also not meant for the international market.

what dialer code?
I have this device for a magazine review since I'm currently working as an editor for droidmagzid.com
This is not a prototype device, or at least I dont think so.. I dont know.
Just got this device early in the morning from my boss for a review.
I was checking the Android version and the build number to match with the latest firmware here on XDA, then I clicked the system update..
and it show an update.. and so I began updating the device. The previous build number was *********413
The CASUAL root method works on this version, I am able to gain root access, CWM recovery, make a nandroid backup, etc..

As long as you didn't punch in a dialer code to access experimental OTA builds than you should be fine. It seems to be an update for the Asian market or something.. not sure really. But the rest of us... who are using the official international firmware are still on 0413

That's for the Chinese market, not the international.. And even though the Chinese model# is an X909 it doesn't support the same radio bands and there are some other differences. But either way, that firmware is not intended for us. Our latest is still 0413.

Is there anything to say against the AL10 version?

I can flash the international rom right?
What I didn't fully understand is if OTA updates are still available if I have an unlocked, rooted AL10 device with an international rom.
Not having OTA updates wouldn't be a big problem though.
Is there anything else to be concerned of or is it safe to go for the AL10?
I'm in UK using al10 no problems at all something's are better on Chinese version tbh

Yes you can. I know I have... Every device unlocked regardless if it is AL10 or L29 cannot get OTA updates. So the only downsize to AL10 is that if you keep it with chinese rom you will get chinese in some apps and that you will have to install manually google services , contactssyncadapter etc...

I am using the Kang VIP rom right now which come standard with GAPPS. It took a little setting up, but it's the best rom I've used so far. No freeze ups, force closure of apps, or anything.
If I had the choice (well I did lol) I'd get the AL-10.

For some reason the Chinese version always gets the first updates and a lot of ROMS are more compatible with less problems on the AL-10.
I have the Chinese version as stock, had 2 little issues
A) Power saving in smart saving mode is still very aggressive- it likes powering down apps - tasker and autovoice get switched off when I didn't use them. But that is fixed by setting apps as protected.
B) Bluetooth is a little unreliable since the last ota - I have smart security on the phone and an lg watch. I have to put in the code in odd occasions and I've lost sound on a Couple of headset phone calls.
But I would still recommend the phone
Ok guys, thanks for the info, I got the AL10 on Monday and I love it, had no problems yet

On Galaxy A9 Pro Chinese how to install Play store?

Hi there guys, just wanted to know how do I get google services and play store on my Samsung Galaxy A9 pro? As for the A9000 it had a hong kong version too aside from the Chinese version which had a different firmware that one could flash and get the Google apps, but with the A9100 (Galaxy A9 pro) there is no other firmware other than Chinese. I have seen people talking about them having the play store installed and working somehow and also have seen a chinese video on YouTube showing the play store installed and working. So my question is can anyone tell me specifically for this mobile. I know I have to put the files manually in my system and change permissions but that somehow didn't work as I dont know which version of playstore to install and what else should be installed along with the play store apk to make it work for eg googe framework and play services.
The other Chinese phones (non-samsung) have a simple way to get play store back for eg Xiaomi devices. My phone is rooted so if anyone can hop in and help I'd really appreciate it
Just download a micro package of gapps (google for it,its easy to find) and place all files from the pack in the right folders of your system with right permissions, look in installer script for the right permissions.done.
Install a GAPPS package with Flashfire.
will installing the latest apk for Play Services and Play Store work in these scenarios?
Please go to the forum "support a9 request" There is a guide to install playstore on the A9 pro..

Is there any advantage of getting the A9 Pro outside of China? I'm based in China, right next to Hong Kong.
A9 Pro is possible to get from Taobao for a nice ~2888 RMB ($430 in today's USD).
Not sure if A9 Pro is available in HK as I've read that the international version of A9 Pro has been launched on July 2nd or so. The only A9 Pro I've been able to find on HK price check (price.com.hk) is around $480 USD, so $50 more. And I can get the one in China with 2 clicks.

Everything is working like a charm as it should. 99% it is english but there are some stock apps where u may see some chinese but overall its totally english. Could you just tell me if i have to only install gapps package and im good?

Someone please give me clear answers for my new phone?

I bought G935FD from Amazon 3 weeks ago- it's unlocked and carrier-free. I've been using it out of the box, no root. Some parts of the box was typed in Arabic indicating it's from/for UAE.
I live in US and have been using MetroPCS (uses T-mobile network). It seems to work flawlessly.
1. Will I get OTA updates? I doubt MetroPCS will do it for this international version from UAE.
2. If above is no, what's the best way to get the latest updates / how do I know my phone has the latest version?
3. What are CSC and PDA?
4. I came across this link: Which country is best for me living in US? Should I continue to use the stock UAE it came with? Any advantage for other countries? (some countries get latest updates faster?)
As for updating FW- a step-by-step guide is appreciated. I've been reading up, and it involves using Odin, but there seems to be tons of different country/region versions for G935FD- and I get concerned about bricking my phone or messing it up.
So many questions.

1. You should get OTA updates. They will come from Samsung and not your carrier.
3. CSC is your region and or carrier code that identifies your Samsung firmware.
4. OJV may not update as often as the other UAE firmware (XSG). A lot of Americans run XSG or Spanish AMO. If ya need help. You can PM me and I'll help get ya sorted.

1. So why XSG or AMO for G935FD users in US over hundreds of other countries? What's makes those two compatible? If I use other countries, what happens to the phone?
2. Which one do you use?
3. This is bit of a different topic, does your phone suffer from Media Server battery drain? Mine does and that's what prompted me to update my phone hoping there's a fix out (deleting/backing up pics help, but it reoccurs)

Most people use those firmwares over others because they support Samsung pay. I personally use AMO because it has the add benefit of wifi calling and and white pages. As for the battery drain issue. You shouldn't be having that issue. I know I don't experience that issue with AMO. It could be a problem that was fixed in a later patch.

That's the correct one. Since you're switching firmwares use the AMO_CSC file rather than the Home_CSC file. That way it'll wipe your phone clean. Make sure youve got security PIN setup because you'll be asked for it after reset. Other than that. Just follow the instructions and it'll be smooth sailing.

Thanks. I'm learning a lot here. Getting ready to do it now. More Qs:
1. So with AMO, I can now use Samsung Pay? Is this the correct version for my phone? I presume this is not available on Google Play because it bypasses Samsung bloat if done through the phone? (if so, I need to manually update this app as new versions get released?)
2. Will wifi calling also work too as MetroPCS supports too right? (it did for my previous phone on MetroPCS)
3. This G935F firmware should work flawlessly despite my phone being G935FD right? I think I read this, just making sure.
4. How does whitepages work- AMO comes with it or do I need to download White Pages app?

You'll need to install the Samsung pay framework and Samsung pay app in that order from APK mirror website. Just read the description for the app before you download to be sure its the US version and it's compatible with the frame work. In order to make white pages work you'll need to enable it from the Phone app settings. G935F works with FD.

Stock ROM flash for Huawei Mate 9 Pro

Hi,
I have recently bought this phone from a Hong Kong based seller. As with other Chinese phones I have bought from China/HK in the past, I always find the official ROM and flash what ever is on it now in case the seller or distributor has installed their own software on the phone.
So I am wondering. Where can I get the newest official ROM for my phone? Mine is the LON-L29. Huawei doesn't seem to have a list of roms on their website unlike Xiaomi?
And can I just flash it right on the phone with out unlocking bootlockers or anything like that? With Xiaomi phones I could always just flash the official rom with any program and that was it. Not sure if I need to unlock anything on this phone?
Thanks,

U can use Firmware Finder to upgrade your phone u can find it in Play Store. It's wery importent to use same Cust as your phone or u will brick it.
Check your version before u upgrade. Your cust version you can check in Settings - About phone it should show LON-L29Cxxx so if it is C636 or C432 or something else u can use the Firmware with same Cust number.

Excellent thank you for that.
Do you know where Firmware Finder downloads its ROMs from?
And once I have downloaded the correct ROM from Firmware Finder, what program on my computer should I use to format the phone and install it?
Thanks,
I noticed the firmware updater seems to list a few roms for my device.
Not all are approved when I click "CHECK FIRMWARE ACCESS"
Which one do I download? The newest ROM at the top? Or the one that currently on my phone(l29c185b229) or the newest one that is approved when check firmware access checks it?
Please help. Thanks,
Jag

Hi, sorry for late answer we are in a different time zone.
The next approved seems to be B240 for your device. B is Build number, higher build newer Firmware. Build that starts with 2 is Nougat, build that starts with 3 is Oreo.
Remember to use FullOTA-MF when u upgrade. But if u go from Nougat to Oreo u must use FullOTA-MF-PV or you will end up with a broken cust and the Firmware wont be completly installed.
Importent to read before upgrade, the community forum on Mate 9 Pro is very small, u can read on Mate 9 forum more about how to upgrade.
U must allways check if your imei is approved, if not approved u cant upgrade.
The Firmware Finder check direct on Huawei server data base for new firmwares.

Thank you for your reply. I did the first update that was approved by IMEI and it worked. I am now on 8.0.0.360
It all seems ok. I am pretty sure the ROM I used was FULLOTA-MF-PV but I cannot remember. What happens if you get a broken cust?
So this removes the old ROM and now I am fresh with a Huawei offical rom? I just want to make sure as I bought this phone from a Hong Kong store and I worry that they may install their own software.
Thank you for you help

Seems u did all ok, if you would have a broken cust u would be missing stuff like keyboard, bluetooth and some other stuff. It removes the old firmware when u flash.
The C185 Cust is for region Middle East Africa, C636 is for Asia and C432 is for Europe. I dont know in what region u live?
U can rebrand the phone to another region if u want but then u must use a paid service as FunkyHuawei.

I am actually missing the Google Keyboard. But Swift keyboard is installed by default and therefore I didn't think anything of it.
I will make sure my Bluetooth is there when I get home tonight. Felt like normal Android to me just the Google keyboard wasn't there.

nope it isn't there. I can't find it in the full app list either so seems it wasn't installed.
When I get back home I will see if I got my Bluetooth. Maybe Google Keyboard isn't installed by default.

So what I just did, has effectively deleted the old ROM which was Android 7 and has installed the newest ROM avaiable to my phone?
Just want to make sure there isn't any Hong Kong store garbage on it. If it just updated to the new Android some of that rubbish might be left behind?
Thank you a lot.

It deletes the old Firmware when u upgrade, so all should be gone. To be 100% sure make a Factory Reset. And Factory Reset is always god to do if u upgrade to a new Android system like from Nougat to Oreo.
