S7 got FM Radio - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discuss

T mobile S7 got FM Radio support via a software update. So this confirms the theory that the hardware is disabled for no reason and can be activated. Hope the S6 get its FM radio chip activated: http://www.gsmarena.com/galaxy_s7_a...mobile_brings_fm_radio_support-news-18089.php

Probably just a snapdragon variant...
S6 doesnt have snapdragon so no fm radio chip...

It's likely that the update simply enables the chip, but you have to use another app to actually listen to it.
Something like NextRadio

None I have seen advertised have NFC but the original official specs state "NFC: Optional" so there must be some somewhere with NFC. I have read that the NFC capability is either incorporated into a "hybrid" battery or is in an alternative rear cover. Can't find out whether either rumour is true.
Considering the trend from samsung most probably there wont be any version of gnote with either nfc or 32gb of onboard memory.

Well, IT support plays a very important role in business. Good IT support is essential for smooth running of company day to day operations and also solves the computer problems. It also helps to connect you to your costumers.

Fm Radio: Yes or Not ?

Why in technical specs of Galaxy S4 fm radio is not onboard? In future i'll hope to see it
Good question. I did not see anything mentioned of an FM receiver. It would be weird if they included stuff like an RF blaster, temperature gages, and more but not the ability to receive FM frequencies. If I find any info to confirm or deny this, I will share it on this thread for you
No

My first reaction was WHAT! NO FM Radio ...!
But to be honest I have never ever listen to FM Radio on my S2.
I use Internet Radio, so no big loss for me if it turns out that S4 dosn't have one

It is mechanically disabled (shorted on circuit board) on every variant EXCEPT SPRINT.

Whoa! Is this absolutely certain?
Why would other carriers remove this?
Maybe it interferes with their data reception?
This requires further investigation.
I do like that we're regaining full use of the Galaxy S5, despite attempts from the carriers to opress us, at least with Sprint.

Stock rom ? did you install any headset volume mods ?
I was looking through the CSC codes and ETC codes and noticed that there is a line on the SPR(sprint) xml that has the Samsung FM app blocked, I downloaded the international S5 fm radio apk and installed it but to no avail.

Some of us have had our phones for nearly 2 weeks now, so you would hope with the other SD820 phones out there I might work. I'm not saying Qualcomm care that much, but you would hope they would've added support before launch. I've never used the app to be clear

Yes, but other SD820 phones have also been released globally which was my point. Usually comapbeis prepare apps before the phones launch so they can have everything set to go ahead of time

If you just do a Google search you will be able to find it.
It might not officially support Marshmallow but it works fine. The only option that doesn't work is the "Inactivity Power Boost" because it states that a screen lock is required even though I have one (but guessing it's because I'm using my fingerprint to unlock it instead of older methods), but that's not really needed now anyways since we have Doze.
I also am unable to install the Qualcomm Snapdragon Battery Guru on my S7 Edge purchased just three days ago. In doing some research I found this article which says, in short, that the S7 and S7 Edge phones with the Snapdragon processors are being shipped to the Asian market. Here's the link. The part about the processors/chipsets starts in paragraph 15 - http://www.knowyourmobile.com/mobil...15/samsung-galaxy-s7-release-date-specs-price
UPDATE - I installed CPU-Z and it does say my phone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor so not sure why the Snapdragon Battery Guru isn't compatible.

FM radio

My S7 Edge (SM-G935A) receives FM radio using an app from the Play Store, NextRadio. You have to plug in earphones because the wire serves as an FM antenna (but you can listen over either the speaker or the earphones).
The SM-G935A has FM due to the Snapdragon SoC but is disabled by software (and thus there should be hacks to circumvent that), however, Exynos devices (e.g. SM-G935F) have no FM chip included and will never be able to listen to the good old radio.
I don't know about this.
Hi, ok, thanks guys.
have done some more reading and the update was official Samsung, not hack.
Pretty sure now its only Snapdragon that has the feature.
