Having my G5 replaced tomorrow. - LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

I found in the lower left rear side a crease in the body, it now is a crack. EE have reluctantly replaced it.
I will now have a gold phone instead of titanium grey.

Pictures of the old phone? That would make this thread more helpful, I think.

Do you mean the line from the removable part? Yeah a lot (maybe all?) of them seem to have that. I could see that bugging me if I weren't encased.
Or is it something else? If so, no, not sure I can see it.

I thought it was just a line? I looked at it when i was at work under a magnifying glass. Its actually a split/ crack in the paint nor plastic coating.
So i thought screw that?

I am having a very hard time removing the rear cover. I've removed the two screws but I still can't seem to get any of my plastic case opening tool in. What gives? I'm almost questioning the importance of those two screws...

Have spot on camera but noting visible on lense

I just noticed when taking a picture with a beige background that I have a sort of smudge looking spot.
I cleaned of the lens area and visually it is spotless. There aren't any scratches either.
Is this a defect or does everyone else see this as well?
See the attached picture. The smudge is in the left.
I never noticed it before as it's faint enough to not show up against darker backgrounds.
I definately do not have something like that, so most likely faulty camera, the best way would be to exchange the phone.

It just looks like they might of had a spec of dust or something go in when they put the phone together. I would take it back and ask for a replacement, if they argue saying they dont see it then complain. If not and they are being fuddy duddies, either do it yourself (if you know what you are doing) or water damage it and send it off for insurance (I know, I know, not a good thing to do) but... if they are incapable of being decent, then you have to do what you have to do.
Good luck. I love my photography, and that would get on my tits. lol

Iv got exactly the same issue with my camera. It looks identical to yours but I have it in the top left corner. Not sure if it's worth exchanging for a new one just because it might be branded and SIM locked this time.

Well when I take a picture in portrait mode like yours is, they're actually pretty close in position. Mine appears more in the top center than yours does though.
The first picture was landscape.
A bit more than a coincidence?? Not the end of the world but I certainly don't expect that from a flag ship device. Think I'll wait until I get a scratch on the screen or something before I go for this exchange.

Trick to opening charging flap

If you notice, the flap tapers almost to a point posteriorly, almost like a tear drop shape
So the tris to get an edge if a fingernail, no matter how short into the back (posterior) left gap and it opens easily.
It's much harder anteriorly (front) because the flap is much thicker versus the back

I think everyone already noticed this and have little problem with opening the flap.

Judging from its design, I think that is how it was intended to be opened as analyzed by Samsung.
peolple who do not intend to go swimming with the phone, may as well take it off permanently, given that it's not too hard to remove

Nah, people are complaining all over the place that they are having trouble opening the flap, especially males with shorter finger nails. Trick is to use the left back side. Not left front

If you are using the left back side then the flap is not properly closed/placed. You should not be able to open the flip using the left back because it is the hinge of the flap and the hinge should go all the way in. Water-resistant feature of the device is reduced with this.

Yes,but you did mention left back. I don't know how you will see the left back if you are not looking at the back itself, even if you use a mirror (image is reversed). If you are looking at the front, then you would have said lower left, not left back.

You don't know the difference between front and back and top and bottom. Look at the closed flap itself and tell us that you are seeing its "back". You're too confused in identifying the orientation of the object. Maybe you have a superpower that you can see the back when you are looking at its front?

Because you are too smart to point out your presumed "correct" orientation.
If you hold the phone and look directly at the flap, then top and bottom come into play when describing the orientation of the charging flap
However, if you are looking directly at the screen (which is the point of view I am talking about), The top would then indicate where the speaker grill is and the bottom would indicate where the home button is

what rabbit-hole did you jump down?
Eyecon is right on in his description of the orientation....
when looking at the phone head-on and describing the flap, the 4 corners are described correctly
the bottom of the flap would indicate the shiny silver plastic part, and the top would indicate the portion that is tucked inside with the rubber gasket on it

PCP, shrooms, and acid can do wonders to your orientation. HA!
anyways, thanks for the tip, i always tried prying mine open from the front left instead of the back left which caused difficulties.
now, when opening it from the back left, it is much easier to get my nail underneath to open it :good:
Its REALLY not that difficult to open a flap guys. Fingernail or no fingernail.

Indeed. Looking at the bottom of the phone there is a huge gap only on one side, the opposite side to the hinge...left or right depending which way up the screen is. Front or back doesnt even come into it!! Just use the big gap on the other side to the hinge! Crazy there is a thread for this!!

You're saying that he is correct, but you yourself described the flap exactly as I did. he described it as "front" &"back" and you described it same as me "top" & "bottom". :victory:

You made it confusing again. The speaker grill is at the lower portion of the back. You might be describing the earpiece. But this time it's easier to understand because you mentioned what part you are facing.

Yes captain obvious. I don't think anyone is opening it at the side where the hinge is.
But what isn't as obvious is opening from back end or front end. I was always trying from the front end of the left hinge and always had issues.
Opening it from the back end as eyecon suggested seems to work much better.
Now I can toss my paperclip I kept on the dresser that I was using to open it

Who put ten pence in you? No need for "captain obvious".
I really have no clue what the hell this thread is about. Just open the thing via the huge gap. Not front or back. Just the huge empty bit. If people needed this thread to figure that out i fear for their safety in day to day life!

LoL. Excuses.
Goldie summarized this thread well.

Is your screen slightly raised near the power button?

Is anyone's screen slightly raised up a bit near the volume and power buttons? Like maybe a few mm or less? This is my 2nd replacement, which also has this issue. I'm not sure if I should RMA again if others will end up like this. Is it normal, I would like to hear from others who have the 6P? If it won't fall off over time, I think I can live with it lol

It does serve a purpose.
Make it easier to hold and reach bottom of the screen, and makes top and bottom the same size so it fits better/symmetrically in the VR headset.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean there isn't a reason for it...

What are you talking about? Can you not see all of the electronics in that part? Packing a bunch of parts in the bottom chin allows us to have a large capacity battery and keep the phone thin.

No problem, also Incase for those of you who see ifixits disassembly on this phone, don't get worried about the screen separating from the digitizer during disassembly, they probably used too much heat and stuck their pry tool too deep and separated the digitizer from the screen or they just wanted to pull the digitizer off to completely disassemble it.

Kinda the same as why there isn't front facing speakers. Who would want the sound muffled to your ears and have the sound blaring into your eyeballs. This only my assumption.
