Disabling LED in mute mode - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
I'd like the LED to be automatically disabled in Mute mode.
This option exists in other ROMs but I couldn't find a solution with the Samsung's launcher. I searched everywhere, root apps, xposed, etc, but found nothing.
Any help ?

I always used Lightflow for this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=nl
Should also be possible with something like tasker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=nl) or AutomateIt (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.automate&hl=nl)

I use Tasker to turn off notification pulse LED at night based off of time. The profile also sets all notifications to silent except for the phone ringer in case of emergency. The LED is still on if the charger is connected, but at least it doesn't flash for new notifications. I would think that there would be a way to tie activation of silent/mute mode to start a task that disables the LED.

Is this working on the S7 for you? I tried this with tasker on my Edge (U.S. SD820 version), but it didn't actually prevent the LED from flashing when I got a notification.

When I saw your post I had to check because honestly I just assumed it was, but it turns out that it wasn't working.
Did some googling and found this Tasker plugin that was written for the S3 but tested it and verified it's working on the S7E:

Excellent! I haven't had time to look for a solution. Or maybe I've just been too lazy to look.
Thanks.

I never used Tasker, how would you configure it to disable LED when the phone is on mute ?

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a quick guide to Tasker, so I'm not sure I can give you a direct answer. It's almost like learning how to program. It's complicated, but if you work at it then suddenly it will start to make sense, and then it's a very powerful tool for automating all kinds of things.
I'd take a look here: Tasker for Android
and here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/30jiob/what_is_the_best_tasker_guide_for_noobs/
and maybe some of these links: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=tasker+tutorial
It's not hard, it's just a steep learning curve.

Tasker isn't that hard really, you just got to read and play with it. Plus there are you tube videos on how to use it and all. There is a wiki that has some basic task profiles in it.

change brightness

is there anyway to change brightness without minimizing application or going to setting menu or use widgets. Tab 2 has this cool notification bar from where you can do lots of things like changing turning off/on gps,wi-fi,sync, change volume and brightness (manually) or set auto. And it does it without interruption.. very useful! On Nexus 7 it's a whole different thing.. i use power toggles from playstore and it has that option to put the toggles in the notification bar.. it works but not the way i would like it to.. Like for example i'm watching youtube and i want to bump up the brightness i pull down notification bar select brightness slider and youtube stops the video.. now after i adjusted the brightness i have to click on play icon sometimes the video resumes sometimes it reloads or rebuffers.
You get the point.. Thanks!
Try Widgetsoid.
It might work better for you than power toggles

no it does the same thing .. ohh well!
quad core should handle simple things like that.. i'll write to painless death see what they gonna tell
Maybe this?
nope the same thing.. i guess it's JB itself! No matter what i try it does the same thing stops(pauses) youtube. I wish youtube had those gesture controls like in MX player or BS player or basically any other third party video players!
Notification Toggle. You can have access to all the settings like WiFi, GPS, brightness, sound etc. all in the notification drawer.

yeah i've tried it not exactly what i'm looking for.. I want application that would do it seamlessly without any interruption. Just like volume.. when press volume rocker the volume control pops out over playing video you can still use the rocker or you can slide the volume on screen while your video plays I want the same thing with the brightness ..
I just use Jkay's deluxe settings. It integrates the settings in the notifications panel

What you want is display brightness ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&hl=en ). It makes swiping your notification bar adjust brightness. Go through the settings to get it like you want. Hope that helps.

After a few minutes I found one thing that is really annoying (i already tried to change the behavior of the hardware key)..When i open a chat window (ex. whatsapp), the screen timeout (15 sec) comes and i click the homebutton ...the app is closing. Is there any way to disable that?
At the moment i also have a lot of batterydrain.. mh...(after the 1 charge)

The app is not closing you just sent it to work in background . Just hold the home button and you'll see the app in recents view. And change the interval of screen timeout for at least 1 min.
About battery drain change the governor of the kernel.
Install from playstore Nofrills cpu to change the governor as conservative .
You'll not notice any lag in games or apps .

Could you please list the steps or the settings needed to modify the home screen to rotate. I have spent countless hours trying to configure this and while I can get the screen to rotate it will not rotate properly without either cutting off the text under the apps or showing an additional portion of the adjoining screen. It also will not scroll from screen to screen properly either.
Any help you could provide would be so greatly appreciated.

Uncheck "FEATURE_USE_PORTRAIT_ONLY"
Check "FEATURE_USE_ROTATE_LAYOUT"
Check "FEATURE_RESIZING_AND_MAKE_CENTER_Y_WALLPAPER_ON_LANDSCAPE"
I believe that does it right away, but you may have to restart your phone again.

I was simply replying to my own posting where I couldn't remember how I managed to rotate the Home Screens.
I remembered in the end and again answered in reply to both my own statement and being informed I had to root.
There are ton of apps out there that will force your phone to rotate. I use one called alternate rotation control. You can make any app or your any home screen rotate.

Go to settings and search for "default." I think you can handle it from there
This is all I see under settings

If this helps anyone I enabled phone settings by swiping the phone icon from the lock screen then it asked which phone app I wanted as the default. Your welcome. Lol.

Battery Percentage IN the battery

Is this possible with the S8?
I used to have a S6 before this one, and it was a default setting, but somehow I cannot find it on the S8.
If this is not possible with a default setting, are the apps that can fix this without "root" access?

Root not necessary!
Settings>Device Maintenance>Battery (at bottom) >tap on 3-Dot menu in top righthand corner & tap Advanced Settings>at bottom look for "Percentage on Status Bar" toggle switch to ON.

OP specifically asked for IN the battery, not on status bar. I saw a thread on here for enabling the UI tweaks menu, which might allow it...

Oops! My bad!
Another quicker method to percentage "next to" battery icon is:
Settings>Display>Status Bar>Show battery percentage.
Sorry OP! Thanks ComicBookGuy.

Well you can have percentage only and get rid of the battery icon I know cause I did that - requires app and use of ADB commands

I know what you mean mate.
But this is ASIDE the battery icon. I would like it to be inside into the the battery like the edge, without root. I dont like to waste space there, Samsung got the hint on the S6, I wonder they threw that away. Regardless I want it back, even when I need to get back to rooting.
Any advice anyone?

Really cool thread! Thanks! I just got rid of bluetooth and nfc icon!
From the command line I typed...
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist bluetooth,rotate,nfc_on
If you mess up you can get the icons back with...
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist null
Use at your own risk as this can mess up your phone. Thanks to seangrimes and reddit!
Anyone know how to get rid of download booster icon on tmobile?

I used this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
In the app it has a couple fo ADB commands you have to issue to give it access, once done, you can turn icons on/off from the app
Here is the thread on XDA for the app
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-systemui-tuner-t3588675
That app is a beta and would not allow my phone to turn off while on a Bluetooth phone call in my car. It would turn off but the turn right back on... Yrmv
So.. ok. I guess its not possible to replace the icon there.
Then.. I root the Phone, what are my options then?

how?
There is an app called battery overlay percent, let you keep the percentage anywhere on the status bar, even inside battery. You can adjust size and colors etc. I kept it on the empty space on edge, but its highly unstable for samsung. It occasionally drifts here and there
