Battery Percentage IN the battery - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Is this possible with the S8?
I used to have a S6 before this one, and it was a default setting, but somehow I cannot find it on the S8.
If this is not possible with a default setting, are the apps that can fix this without "root" access?

Root not necessary!
Settings>Device Maintenance>Battery (at bottom) >tap on 3-Dot menu in top righthand corner & tap Advanced Settings>at bottom look for "Percentage on Status Bar" toggle switch to ON.

OP specifically asked for IN the battery, not on status bar. I saw a thread on here for enabling the UI tweaks menu, which might allow it...

Oops! My bad!
Another quicker method to percentage "next to" battery icon is:
Settings>Display>Status Bar>Show battery percentage.
Sorry OP! Thanks ComicBookGuy.

Well you can have percentage only and get rid of the battery icon I know cause I did that - requires app and use of ADB commands

I know what you mean mate.
But this is ASIDE the battery icon. I would like it to be inside into the the battery like the edge, without root. I dont like to waste space there, Samsung got the hint on the S6, I wonder they threw that away. Regardless I want it back, even when I need to get back to rooting.
Any advice anyone?

Really cool thread! Thanks! I just got rid of bluetooth and nfc icon!
From the command line I typed...
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist bluetooth,rotate,nfc_on
If you mess up you can get the icons back with...
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist null
Use at your own risk as this can mess up your phone. Thanks to seangrimes and reddit!

I used this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
In the app it has a couple fo ADB commands you have to issue to give it access, once done, you can turn icons on/off from the app
Here is the thread on XDA for the app
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-systemui-tuner-t3588675

That app is a beta and would not allow my phone to turn off while on a Bluetooth phone call in my car. It would turn off but the turn right back on... Yrmv

So.. ok. I guess its not possible to replace the icon there.
Then.. I root the Phone, what are my options then?

how?

There is an app called battery overlay percent, let you keep the percentage anywhere on the status bar, even inside battery. You can adjust size and colors etc. I kept it on the empty space on edge, but its highly unstable for samsung. It occasionally drifts here and there

Really hoping someone finds a way to get rid of that sht.
Deleting 'S Finder', "Quick connect', and 'Quick Connect Interaction Service' leaves the 'S Finder' button doing nothing, though you can still click it, and the 'Quick Connect' button disabled (after a reboot). They're still occupying the same space.
As I posted in this topic's threat in the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5 area:
This is annoying me as well. I think those not yet able to craft their own ROMs (like me), are gonna need to wait. If you're feeling adventurous, you maybe try installing [ROM][G900F][4.4.2]-AllianceROM-OTA Nightlies (the F and T models are similar I believe) and providing the developers with feedback.
There's also the possibility that [APPS][4.1+] Google Experience Launcher (GEL App + Google Search App) will work, as described by the article How to get the Google Experience Launcher on the Galaxy S5 which I found via this post (go thank him if it works).
would be great if xposed modual came out for this there very annoying
See Echoe Rom thread, find a mod to remove that string

Disabling LED in mute mode

Hi,
I'd like the LED to be automatically disabled in Mute mode.
This option exists in other ROMs but I couldn't find a solution with the Samsung's launcher. I searched everywhere, root apps, xposed, etc, but found nothing.

I use Tasker to turn off notification pulse LED at night based off of time. The profile also sets all notifications to silent except for the phone ringer in case of emergency. The LED is still on if the charger is connected, but at least it doesn't flash for new notifications. I would think that there would be a way to tie activation of silent/mute mode to start a task that disables the LED.

When I saw your post I had to check because honestly I just assumed it was, but it turns out that it wasn't working.
Did some googling and found this Tasker plugin that was written for the S3 but tested it and verified it's working on the S7E:

Excellent! I haven't had time to look for a solution. Or maybe I've just been too lazy to look.
Thanks.
I never used Tasker, how would you configure it to disable LED when the phone is on mute ?
Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a quick guide to Tasker, so I'm not sure I can give you a direct answer. It's almost like learning how to program. It's complicated, but if you work at it then suddenly it will start to make sense, and then it's a very powerful tool for automating all kinds of things.
I'd take a look here: Tasker for Android
and here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/30jiob/what_is_the_best_tasker_guide_for_noobs/
and maybe some of these links: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=tasker+tutorial
It's not hard, it's just a steep learning curve.

Tasker isn't that hard really, you just got to read and play with it. Plus there are you tube videos on how to use it and all. There is a wiki that has some basic task profiles in it.

If you're using a task-killing app,it is likely the culprit,ditch it & don't look back.
If not,check the following:
Go to SETTINGS > APPS > QUICK MEMO+ & ensure that all app permissions are enabled.
Also,go to SETTINGS > BATTERY & POWER SAVING,tap on BATTERY USAGE & scroll down to Ignore optimizations & choose QUICK MEMO+
Other than that, the only other recommendation I have is to clear all the app data from QuickMemo+ & try again.

I appreciate your help. It's just one of those little things that irk me. I'm very happy with the phone and everything is working great so no need to return it. Not sure about AT&T (just switched) but if it's anything like Verizon going there would be a complete waste of time.
I'm coming from the 5x and prior to that, quite a few years if rooting and custom ROMs. Like I said I'm very happy with this device but I wanted to try and take advantage of as much of the stock software as possible, since I'm so used to customizing my phone to the exact same setup for so long.
I'll live with it, and again thanks for your help.

Goodlock, disabled all mine to prevent burn in
You can also remove them with adb on the pc
Do you have a link to a guide to disable icons in the status bar? I'd like to remote the battery icon and AT&T icon.

How To - Modify all the things without third-party apps installed.
Install, Android SDK or ADB Driver on PC, then enable USB-debugging in your device via the developer settings. (alternative: use an ADB Shell App on the device.)
Plug the device in your PC/Laptop
Open Powershell/CMD Run: adb devices
(check your device and only the one device you wish to run shell commands on exists, the best way to plug a device in run command, unplug and run again see if the device no longer shows so you know it the one you're after)
Various Non-Root Commands
Full Time - Immersive Mode
(Permanently hide status and nav bar, restart device afterwards)
Code:
[COLOR="seagreen"]adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.status=*[/COLOR]
Remove Individual Icons from Status Bar
(Permanently hide status and nav bar, some icons require device restart)
Code:
[COLOR="seagreen"]adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist 'icon string here'[/COLOR]
Code:
example string: [COLOR="seagreen"]adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist bluetooth,alarm_clock,rotate,nfc_on,battery[/COLOR]
Which removes bluetooth, alarm, rotation lock, and battery icon from the status bar
List of possible strings - unsure if all work with Android P
How to Un**** everything.
Revert All Policy Changes
(Reverts user changes back to stock policy, restart device afterwards)
Code:
[COLOR="seagreen"]adb shell settings put global policy_control null*[/COLOR]

You are not alone.
Good lock is only available in certain regions.
I can't find it in galaxy store either.
Also sideloading the good lock apk doesn't work for me
