I don't know it might be possible
If so right after gaining root you'll have to use possibly Flashify to flash SuperSu 2.68 because there'll be no custom recovery or custom kernel.
So if one can use Flashify to flash SuperSu then one needs to use Root Explorer to delete all of Kingroot and then just leave SuperSu then FlashFire can work.

Thank you for trying tho man, I just got my s7 a couple hours ago.. Why would they put the OEM unlock feature in? You think it was just missed by at&t or just a 6.0 thing?

Nah the N5 had the same thing these locked bootloaders are an AT&T and Verizon thing buuuuuut this device is pretty new and the official firmware isn't even on Sammobile yet.
Maybe there'll be an exploit soon enough...I hope

And as with the S6 that will be patched in the next update. I don't think rooting Samsung devices in the future will be possible.
With Samsung Pay being made such a huge deal, Samsung was not going to easily compromise on their mobile payment solution. While the developer community’s intent is clean when looked from a wide viewpoint, one can’t deny that root and things beyond are used for nefarious activities. Acts of rooting and unlocking the bootloader open the device up to a world of possibilities, and this world has both the positives and negatives to it. Things will get serious when you consider that a large populace is expected to migrate their banking information to these devices and use them at all local payment terminals. The variables involved are huge, and Samsung would certainly not risk the reputation of its devices as well Samsung Pay’s as competitors to more “secure” alternatives like Apple and Apple Pay.

I read that blog as well. I also read in other tech sites that Samsung really want to make these devices extremely secure so major businesses will corporately buy them like they used to do the Blackberry.
As far as root goes I'm still of the belief that we will have root but as you stated and was proven on the S6 Edge the exploit will be patched on the next update.
That being said all I need is initial root and I'll run with it.
I won't Odin to stock to update. If not I still thoroughly enjoy this fantastic device it's certainly the epitome of the high end flagship device. Plus I still have my OPX as my back up that'll feed my flashing addiction LOL.
By the way thanks for the compliment [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]

+1 I won't be selling or trading my OPO now, which is about as developer-active as any Nexus device I've ever owned. If I don't see the latest Android version on some device or I go too long without flashing a ROM, I get really bad headaches and cold shivers I'd rather stop drinking coffee. Ok, I wouldn't...

Bite your tongue Coffee??? NEVER...coffee and flashing go hand in hand.
I'll say this though my S7 Edge is the first device that won't bother me not to root. It really is a great device.
Buuuuuut if there is root for the international S7 Edge I'll sell my ATT and buy the G935F in a blink of an eye LOL

At least you have something in the meantime. The stores in my country that officially distribute Samsung products still have "coming soon" next to the S7/S7E on their websites. The anticipation is killing me!!!
Drink more coffee, flash something on the OPO... Ahhhh, that's better.
And, out of thanks for the day. Thanks XDA for the 8/day limit :/

Good grief, no messing around with this one! And that's a pretty decent price! :good:
When you get it, let me know how it does on AT&T. Mine will be a Southeast Asia G930F/FD, and I'll be using it on Straight Talk/AT&T when I'm in the States. I'm assuming the 930F/935F cover all the appropriate AT&T LTE bands.

Even if you were born yesterday, there wouldn't be enough years of your life left to wait for AT&T to allow root. But yeah, I've always purchased international devices (HTC or Samsung) here in Cambodia and used them in the US to avoid headaches with the carriers, get faster updates, have more development options, etc., etc., etc... They also sell faster used on ebay and swappa.

Actually ATT devices sell quite well also. I got top dollar for my G925A.
Now I'm EXTREMELY excited to pick up an international S7 Edge. In all honesty debloated with Xposed is really all I need. The software itself is phenomenal.

Two RC's gone completely off-topic in an obscure Kingroot thread...
I STILL don't have a S7. I'm just waiting for the stars to align themselves properly. It looks like I'll be stuck with the G930FD, which is the only variant sold in Cambodia. Not sure yet if that's good or bad
At least I have my trusty OnePlus One keeping me company on CM13 nighties.
How's your G935F treating you? Better than your old OPO?

The Never Again thing ended a month ago when Samsung decided to give us FROYO. even though it wasn't the OFFICIAL OTA, but we still got it didn't we?
Their hardware is great.
You want to complain about Samsung? You think we have it tough? Motorola in the past has always had LOCKED bootloaders, meaning NO ROMS for you.
We got the updates, and our devs have already begun on Gingerbread.
most of the phone's aren't even on Froyo dude.
Be thankful and positive instead of thinking negative 24/7.
If you get the S2, your 3G will not work on Tmobile in the US. The S2 runs on HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 frequencies, you want one that runs on 1700 / 2100 for your Tmobile to work at 3G speeds. Otherwise you're stuck on the Edge network.
Believe me, that was the first thing I checked when this phone was released for specs. It sucks, because I too am very interested in it. Personally I'd hands down much rather have the I9000 than the Vibrant, but I know if I ordered one, I'd be stuck with no 3G.
So yeah, if you're not on Tmobile in the US (if you're on say AT&T) then go for it. You'll probably get the next two maybe three releases of Android with it.
EDIT: This is assuming you get the S2 that's being released soon. If you wait for the Tmobile version, then yeah that'll obviously work and probably have 4G (and be running Eclair jk )

I'd disagree.
I THINK Eugene wasn't even working on Gingerbread, and neither was Master. A few other dev's left, and i think its a tragedy, because we DO need them in the end.
The only roms that i know are working on GingerBread is the EDT team, CM7, and TW
Yes, we probably need Eugene, and the others to get the other things such as kernels modems etc..
but I see what your trying to say, and agree with it, but not 100%
It would definitely be worth the upgrade. Assuming the phone comes to T-Mobile which I believe it will. This phone will either have the Exynos duo core or Tegra 2 chip with gingerbread. Gingerbread will be able to fully utilize the phones maximum potential.

I agree that Motorola and the locked bootloaders is worse than what Samsung does, however, that doesn't excuse them for practically abandoning Vibrant users. Yes, they released Froyo through Kies, but like you said, it wasn't official OTA, and to be fair it was not even close to the quality our devs produce in a fraction of the time. I'm happy with my Vibrant and we are fortunate for the great dev community and ease at which we can root, but you'd be an idiot to expect that to carry over to next gen Samsung devices. I'm not saying the next Samsung device will necessarily be any harder to root, but I wouldn't count on a the devs being their for the next gen Samsung devices. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, and I hope I am. To sum it up, with the rep Samsung devices (except the Nexus S) have gotten so far, I wouldn't pick up another Samsung device and expect the dev community to be just as great as the one for Galaxy S devices.

Finally ordered my Note!

After I did some research whether I should wait for the AT&T version or get the international version, I decided to get the international version. CarrierIQ, AT&T logo and snapdragon were my main reasons why I didnt go with AT&T version.
I am getting it overnited, so hopefully it will be here Tuesday. Cant wait to play with it.

You won't regret it.
Also I went with the international one over waiting for the AT&T version was the physical home button. It is much easier to wake the device with one hand using the physical home button than the power button on the side. Mainly because the power button is located near the top on the phone.
The only thing I wish it had was NFC, mainly for this phone to be future proof than anything else.
Enjoy!

I did the same thing right before Christmas. You will enjoy the international
version. Mine was from Germany, and had a sheet of paper in the box the note
was shipped with, in English, explaining which buttons to press on power up, to get it to English.
Also, get wi-fi connected when you get it, and go to settings>>>about>>>Software update>>>update
Probably will have two updates, mine did anyway. One was around 17 meg, the other in the 50 meg range.
Congrats! I wouldn't have bought the at&t version either...
As everyone already stated you made the right choice. I ordered mine from Amazon and have never looked back. Best phone I have ever owned in my life. I love it more than my iPhone 4 and that's really saying something because I really charished that thing now I can't even hold it without being annyoed at how small the screen is hehehe. Enjoy it! So far after what i have read on the xda forum it sounds like its a really good device.
Even though there seems to be an issue with the screen about rendering colours. But i am sure that wont bother me much.

Galaxy S4 soon to be released, now is the time to complain about missing sources!

Hello
With the S4 soon to be released (in april) theres a lot of talk about the phone on Facebook and on Twitter. It is therefore a good time to start writing on Samsungs' Facebook- and Twitter pages about the promised sources that we never recived and how you feel about that.
Hopefully we will get a response from Samsung (it has worked before) and if not we might have saved some people the trouble we have had with the lack of Exynos 4 sources.
This might be our best chanse to get the Exynos 4 sources sense Samsung probably don't wan't alot of bad pr on social networks right before the S4 going to be released.
If you honestly think that the mention of "exynos source" on a Facebook page will mean anything at all to your average buyer, you are sadly mistaken.
In Asian countries the concept of respect holds far more weight than in most Western economies....hence spamming and name calling will achieve absolutely nothing, in fact it may well be counter productive
If you want pure Android, buy Nexus
..... good luck with that.

Lol, how did I know you would post here? We had one guy who strongly believed immaturity and spamming would suffice, and he hasn't set foot in the S3 section (or maybe even XDA?) in months now.
Just.....can't.....help....it

The avrage buyer won't care sense they don't check Samsungs pages but some of the ones that do might change there opinion about getting a Samsung, but far from all.
Isn't the reason they promised the Exynos sources in the first place that they didn't wan't people to see the bad pr they got from us on social networks?
It has been a bit quiet sense the end of 2012 when they promised the sources to be released and they have not even said why the sources has not been released and it have soon gone 4 months. So just sit quiet and wait will never get us the sources.

Shall we fast forward to punk or would you like to embrace glam rock on the way?

It has been made abundantly clear by administration and moderation that using XDA association for this campaign is not approved and not welcome, ......so go and spam Facebook and whatever, but don't keep raising the issue here

I love punk, but I also love glam rock or generally all rock/hard rock genres from the 70's and 80's.

Seems like you guys are getting what you want, to Samsung not releasing the sources. No official CyanogenMod for the S4.

I'm still of the opinion that people who want AOSP support should just buy the Nexus 4 or should flock to devices that are known to have stable CM support. Having CM on devices is a bonus. I however bought my Galaxy S2 and S3 because of the stock experience with the possibility of flashing custom roms. I think its ignorant to buy a device and expect support for something which they have not promised. The only question one needs to ask is if CM will maintain the S600 version of the phone.

It says origen board, that was the first sign that we were in for disappointment.
No CM official support for S4 is really bad. I'm sure some adventurous dev will step in and provide unofficial builds... Some people just want to watch the world burn.

I don't know where Lirkaren is from, but here in Sweden a Nexus costs as much as a normal phone. Although they've dropped a bit in price, they still cost well over $600 here.
Just thought I'd clear the air about that.
And all the new phones (GS4, SXZ, HTC One) will all cost around $970-1000 unlocked.

You are a lucky 17 years old guy, congrats, but you're not a representative example for the average student, sorry (I mean.. sorry that you are wrong, you're still a very lucky guy I had to save money for couple of years when I was your age in order to buy my first used genuine Fender Strat...). Enjoy!
How much is the Nexus 4?
And it wasn't a bragging thing guys. I know I'm lucky. I'm glad I have a good work ethic so that I can get things I want and need.

has anyone tried rooting it through the s6 or s6 edge method?
Not until an exploit in 5.1.1 is found.
Locked bootloaders are the devil I tell you!
My VZW Edge is still on 5.02, rooted with ping pong and flashed with flashfire. Easiest with locked bootloader.
5.1.1, I'm afraid, is locked pretty damn tight.
May be a while.

My bad, I'm stuck in AT&T land and forgot this was a general forum. My bad lol.
Not sure about the chainfire method but it might be worth a shot.
Sucks for us At&t and Verizon users.

none
Samsung has put up a challenge to our sharpest Developer's. I'm guessing that Samsung's actions can be defeated eventually, someone will do it just to upset Samsung, and to prove that XDA's Devs are just as good, if not better that their's so when will they get root? who knows, but you can almost guarantee that it's being worked on as this is being written.

If anything this will get more onboard to find an exploit.
This is a brand new device, it will be exploited!
As it matures and these exploits are patched it gets harder as in next to impossible.
The same thing happens in iOS land.
Game of cat and mouse.
Just need to be a smarter cat.
And have patience.
Lots of patience.
One thing I can say is this (S6Edge+) has to be the smoothest out of the box Android experience ever! And on Verizon, that's saying a lot!
So (can't believe I'm actually saying, well technically posting, this!) using it stock isn't hateful at all!
Compared to the VZW Note4, I feel like I've gone from a dinghy to a sportfish!
Not sure if having the extra GB of RAM has anything to do with it or not...
But yes this with AOSP would be pure candy.

Chainfire Rooted his Pixel!! UPDATE: SuperSU Root is now released to the public

https://twitter.com/ChainfireXDA
Hopefully he'll pass it on to us after he works a few tweaks out.
EDIT: Root is now available to us. Chainfire posted it in the development sub forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/development/root-supersu-t3490156
Make sure to read the FULL "read me" that is found only on his Google Plus page so far:
https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/fvEPo42GKXS
EDIT 2:
Make sure to read this well written XDA article.
http://www.xda-developers.com/root-is-now-available-for-the-google-pixel-and-pixel-xl/
It's got most of the info you'll need to know.
Root is not installed the way you're probably used to installing it.
And there are some gotchas you'll want to read about.
EDIT 3:
I waited till root was available before I unlocked my Google purchased phone.
I did the unlock, flashing of ElementalX kernel and root all in the same shot.
And yes, my device was wiped during the process (as expected).
So make sure you have backed up anything you want backed up.
Sorry, buddy, but it's old news already.

You're right. I had a VZ HTC M7, M8, M9 and a Pixel and I guess I'm just lucky that they all were unlocked. I had no doubt that jcase would get unlock and chainfire would get root. Now we just need TWRP which I hear is coming. And yes, saving 300 and having it all be on my same bill without opening another credit account or paying cash does appeal to me.
That said, I don't whine if a phone can't be unlocked and don't ask dev's anything about timing of releases. When they are available, I use them, if not, oh well. There is always a new phone around the corner
lmao @ tgyberg
I hate Mike02zplop too.
Hey ya'll, don't forget to donate to Chainfire as soon as he releases root to us!!!!

I didn't have much of choice coming from Note 7. If the bootloader stays locked and I want it unlocked I'll get the Google version when I can.
I have the Pixel XL from Verizon cause I cant afford to spend $600+ on a phone. I had to return my Note 7 and Im on the edge plan. On a side note offering $20 for a root bounty I can do. The Devs on here are great! Im proud that this community is what it is and also that developers dont feel like shunning us lower VZW people. Lets ease the hate and stay on topic. Im very excited for root and bootloader unlock.
Yasssss....
