Finally ordered my Note! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

After I did some research whether I should wait for the AT&T version or get the international version, I decided to get the international version. CarrierIQ, AT&T logo and snapdragon were my main reasons why I didnt go with AT&T version.
I am getting it overnited, so hopefully it will be here Tuesday. Cant wait to play with it.

You won't regret it.
Also I went with the international one over waiting for the AT&T version was the physical home button. It is much easier to wake the device with one hand using the physical home button than the power button on the side. Mainly because the power button is located near the top on the phone.
The only thing I wish it had was NFC, mainly for this phone to be future proof than anything else.
Enjoy!

International version
I did the same thing right before Christmas. You will enjoy the international
version. Mine was from Germany, and had a sheet of paper in the box the note
was shipped with, in English, explaining which buttons to press on power up, to get it to English.
Also, get wi-fi connected when you get it, and go to settings>>>about>>>Software update>>>update
Probably will have two updates, mine did anyway. One was around 17 meg, the other in the 50 meg range.

Congrats! I wouldn't have bought the at&t version either...

As everyone already stated you made the right choice. I ordered mine from Amazon and have never looked back. Best phone I have ever owned in my life. I love it more than my iPhone 4 and that's really saying something because I really charished that thing now I can't even hold it without being annyoed at how small the screen is hehehe. Enjoy it! I am sure you will.

I am ordering my note this Friday when i get payed.
So far after what i have read on the xda forum it sounds like its a really good device.
Even though there seems to be an issue with the screen about rendering colours. But i am sure that wont bother me much.
I cant wait for my device, it should be here on Saturday.
I know this week is going to drag while i wait for my device.
Hopefully this will be the best device i have ever owned.

Will Sprint ever see this phone?
The Other samsung Galaxy S phone looked pretty sweet also..makes me think wow.. the Epic will be off the throne soon.

That's fake. The phone on the left side is a Photoshop'd iPhone 4. The phone on the right is a phone that is already out and taken straight from it's promo shots. Didn't you notice that the two are completely different?

Not a chance, last night schmidts was running on T-mo, meaning its a GSM phone. Will there be a variant that is CDMA? Doubt it - mainly because of all the CDMA Nexus hype that went on while the google phone store was open.
I doubt we will ever get a true CDMA Google Phone on ANY CDMA Carrier. We might get lucky and see a world phone - but really really low chances for a CDMA only device.

Owned! or is it fail.. I had no idea really.. i've been had! back to the Nexus S... when are we going to see a Droid S? lol.
Then again..if anyone can pull off a CDMA google phone..it'll probably be Samsung...I mean if they got their phone on all the US carriers and 110 carriers..maybe with some pressure samsung can get the Nexus S on there...
Also I think it'll be called Nexus S..aka Nexus S(econd) lol
Anyone think it'll be sold unlocked like the nexus one where the phone can be purchased through google and be used with any carrier. Of coarse gsm on tmo and att and cdma on sprint and verizon...

Actually, yes. I've really grown to hate HTC. My first phone was the HTC Hero then I went to the Evo and both sucked. I then switched to the Samsung Moment then the Epic and I love Samsung compared to HTC.
Plus HTC is a ***** when it comes to root.

I prefer the Epic to the Evo as well, but I wouldn't say the Evo sucks.
Well lets look at it this way..Samsung making it == more goodies for us Epic users whether we plan to get it or not we can agree thats good lol
But realistically speaking Samsung will always have the advantage since unlike HTC they actually manufacture their own stuff...aka less likely to be effected by shortages and more likely to get more expensive hardware at the same price.
A lot of people who don't like Samsung say they make good hardware but bad software..but with the Nexus S, Google is going to do the software...so best Hardware + Best Software = win..no?

The Never Again thing ended a month ago when Samsung decided to give us FROYO. even though it wasn't the OFFICIAL OTA, but we still got it didn't we?
Their hardware is great.
You want to complain about Samsung? You think we have it tough? Motorola in the past has always had LOCKED bootloaders, meaning NO ROMS for you.
We got the updates, and our devs have already begun on Gingerbread.
most of the phone's aren't even on Froyo dude.
Be thankful and positive instead of thinking negative 24/7.
If you get the S2, your 3G will not work on Tmobile in the US. The S2 runs on HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 frequencies, you want one that runs on 1700 / 2100 for your Tmobile to work at 3G speeds. Otherwise you're stuck on the Edge network.
Believe me, that was the first thing I checked when this phone was released for specs. It sucks, because I too am very interested in it. Personally I'd hands down much rather have the I9000 than the Vibrant, but I know if I ordered one, I'd be stuck with no 3G.
So yeah, if you're not on Tmobile in the US (if you're on say AT&T) then go for it. You'll probably get the next two maybe three releases of Android with it.
EDIT: This is assuming you get the S2 that's being released soon. If you wait for the Tmobile version, then yeah that'll obviously work and probably have 4G (and be running Eclair jk )

I'd disagree.
I THINK Eugene wasn't even working on Gingerbread, and neither was Master. A few other dev's left, and i think its a tragedy, because we DO need them in the end.
The only roms that i know are working on GingerBread is the EDT team, CM7, and TW
Yes, we probably need Eugene, and the others to get the other things such as kernels modems etc..
but I see what your trying to say, and agree with it, but not 100%
It would definitely be worth the upgrade. Assuming the phone comes to T-Mobile which I believe it will. This phone will either have the Exynos duo core or Tegra 2 chip with gingerbread. Gingerbread will be able to fully utilize the phones maximum potential.

I agree that Motorola and the locked bootloaders is worse than what Samsung does, however, that doesn't excuse them for practically abandoning Vibrant users. Yes, they released Froyo through Kies, but like you said, it wasn't official OTA, and to be fair it was not even close to the quality our devs produce in a fraction of the time. I'm happy with my Vibrant and we are fortunate for the great dev community and ease at which we can root, but you'd be an idiot to expect that to carry over to next gen Samsung devices. I'm not saying the next Samsung device will necessarily be any harder to root, but I wouldn't count on a the devs being their for the next gen Samsung devices. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, and I hope I am. To sum it up, with the rep Samsung devices (except the Nexus S) have gotten so far, I wouldn't pick up another Samsung device and expect the dev community to be just as great as the one for Galaxy S devices.

might get an evo shift

i have to use my upgrade or i loose it in two days. would the evo shift be a huge downgrade to my evo? im asking because there are no other worthy upgrades right now on sprint.
i figure ill use the shift until the nexus comes out then sell both evo's for it.
Hell no! Unless you think screen size is a downgrade which it isn't.. same type just smaller. The processor is better then evo.. kb sucks tho.you can Oc to 1.5 stable .sexy
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
If you're just going to sell it, you could always upgrade, then reactivate your Evo and put Shift back in the box and keep it in mint condition so you get the most money.

I bought one for a friend of mine and helped him root/rom it. I actually loved the keyboard, felt great to me. In fact, I haven't used many slide out KB phones, but the only one I've used better than it is on my Arrive.
Which brings up the point, why not grab an Arrive Fixx? I've had tons of fun with mine so far, and you'd have the best of both worlds OS wise.

Yea, I would definitely get it.

I am strongly strongly considering the Nexus S myself. With all the rumors of HTC locking their phones down .. I think I'm going to move on to nothing but pure google phones.

I don't see all of his tweet for some reason.. maybe it's because I use the official twitter app?
Anyway, bad move on HTCs part. I see the Nexus S in my future.. just not as much of an upgrade over the EVO as the Evo 3D would have been.

And on the htc locking their phones down note, cyanogen and friends been tweeting about it all day he's pretty upset lol. This breaks my heart htc why....why....:-(
Nexus s anyone?

nah... i decided against the arrive after seeing many mixed reviews. as far as evo3d i hate the look of it. the nexus s will for sure be my next phone. im debating if i will get the shift tonight or tomorrow. ill be ordering it on best buy online and pick it up in the store.

you will be better off with a pure google phone anyways. the nexus will get all updates and roms first.

True, nexus s is in my future I guess. My upgrade isn't until September of this year, by the time I get my nexus it might be pushing itself to be outdated I believe. Hopefully other phones will be around. Have fun with your shift I hear that thing can definitely hold its own.

Can anyone confirm this? http://pocketnow.com/android/samsung-epic-4g-gingerbread-already-available-on-sprint or http://www.phonedog.com/2011/07/13/samsung-epic-4g-now-ships-with-android-2-3-says-sprint-site
I checked and I didn't see any other posted about it.

we just need someone to go buy a new epic and rip off gingerbread lol if it is infact on newer models?
So I literally just ordered a replacement device, yesterday morning in fact. It arrived today and still has EC05. This is through Asurion though, the insurance company that Sprint works with. So replacement devices via the insurance are definitely not shipping with 2.3 yet. Just thought I'd throw this bit of info out there. It's always possible that Asurion's stock is a bit behind whatever Sprint is shipping out.

This would be pointless. No reason for someone to spend $150 for a rip that is still lacking the source code, especially if this means that the official update is a week off (a-la the Evo 3D).

Well any new phones probably still won't have it just as far as logistics is concerned. So that's not gonna be a good piece of evidence to support this.
We need somebody who has seen the playbook, nobody in my store bothered to read it lol.

They probably mean that when you order, by the time you get it you'll get an ota for 2.3. I called sprint today and they halfway confirmed this. He didn't admit it but he kept saying an update is "very likely to come soon".

Well, If I ordered a new Epic today I could have it by Friday. Don't think there will be an OTA update by then.

Replacement devices arent brand new. They are refurbished and I doubt they would update them to 2.3.
Guys remember, it happened with froyo also.
But the thing is that they changed it too early then they announce the update a few weeks later

Nexus Prime vs. SGS2

This isn't a performance... thing. We all know the prime will be the best handset to date. But I was wondering what some of you are personally waiting for. I heard October for the prime. September for the sgs2. Pretty close. I think ill wait for the prime. My wish cane true and Sammy is making it. That 720p screen... amoled  I don't care if its pentile. My epic is pentile and I personally don't have a problem with it whatsoever. I'm excited for the fall

i really want the Nexus Prime but a 4.5 inch screen is too big for my taste. I wish they stucked with 4.0. Then again this is all speculations, who knows, maybe my dream will come true and it will be 4.0 lol
I'm waiting on the Prime. Pure google is overall a better experience, higher res screen ( I think ) faster processor, plus it has

My upgrade is July. What would you do? Worst is I turn Gold then.
ehh im gonna wait for prime. i see nooooo point in getting a phone when ice cream is right around the corner. ive already learned the hard way about dealing with updates from sammy once =/ lol ... and for those talking about the screen size, you also have to take into account that there are NO physical buttons on it. everything is on screen. so even though its a bigger screen it might not actually 'seem' like its bigger. if that makes any sense lol

It should be more like the newest tablets in that sense, right?
If the prime is only a month behind the SGSII then im waiting on that.

I hope it does go to sprint in fact all the carriers but when I asked the guy at radio
shack he told me it was going to Verizon! then i'm reading that Verizon isn't getting the s2 if this is the case then most likely its cuz they getting the prime! Also if the prime doesn't come to sprint then I'll just wait until the galaxy s3 which is in the works & will be out in 2012 that thing is going to be a BEAST!!

The best part about not being 2 year upgrade eligible yet is that I can wait. So far there is no indication sprint will get the prime, but sprint is googles bff of US carriers so you would think it would land here at some point.
Radioshack? Those people are idiots. Trust me I worked for them for 3 years there's no way they would know that. As far as the prime goes think about it.. what carrier has the nexus been most popular on? The nexus one was on tmo. The nexus s... tmo. Then sprint. With at&t being the final carrier to have it. I HIGHLY doubt Verizon is going to be the only one with it, or if they're getting it at all. It just doesn't make sense to me. Plus, **** Verizon.

Btw when do you guys think the GS2 will get ICS? When do you think google will release source?

Love the ability to upgrade at a year. I think I'm gonna get the prime if it comes to sprint. I've had a motoblur phone...terrible then I got the evo and it was awesome sense was great but my personal opinion is pure Google is better. But there are people that enjoy sense or touchwiz. Me personally I enjoy a naked UI. GO NAKED!!!!!
