Anyone missing Samsung pay on their VZW S7? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

i got mine today and Samsung pay is not installed. i went to the google play store and it said samsung pay was not compatible with my phone? everything is stock...no root or other hacks.
Thanks.

Try Galaxy Apps

Missing
I agree I'm missing it too On my samsung galaxy s7 edge. I went to galaxy apps and it looked like it downloaded but I can't find it anywhere. I must be missing something or its hidden in a folder. I'll keep looking!

Trying to remember how I activated it on my wife's S6. I think you have to go into settings > tap & pay.
I just read that Verizon forced Samsung to remove Samsung Pay from VZW S7 and Edge. You can also side load it from APKmirror.com also.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. Galaxy S7 is scheduled to be released on March 11th, and Samsung Pay service for S7 will be enabled once it is officially released.

One post said that Verizon has also removed any mention of Samsung Pay from their S7 manual.

Wow you are completely correct! Verizon just pulled that lowball move and demanded that Samsung remove it. I'm sideloading it as we speak.

Has anyone had any trouble getting past the finger print registration on samsung pay?

Had this issue on the s6, remove your fingerprints and clear cache in the fingerprint app then set it up with a pin. Once you finish the install turn on fingerprints

I had to download the apk, then install. Once I installed I was able to register my card fine.

Seems you may be correct. (Update)
"We've spoken with Samsung, and they have clarified that while Samsung Pay currently cannot be installed via the Play Store or Galaxy Apps on the Verizon model, it will be available to Verizon Galaxy S7s and S7 edges via those channels starting on March 11th, the official launch date for the phones. Samsung Pay is not pre-loaded on Verizon models, unlike some other US carriers, and Verizon does not advertise the app - and even went so far as to strip it from the user manuals of its versions of the S7 and S7 edge - but sideloading will not be necessary by the time we reach the retail launch date for the devices."

Samsung pay is live on the play store.

It works on mine!

Spoke with a Samsung rep yesterday about this. I was looking into the phone and he said that the VZW version just won't have it. He said that only Android pay would work.

Got the S7 today. Just downloaded Samsung Pay from the Playstore, installed and registered a card without a problem.

I don't have any cards that work with Samsung pay. I got all excited to get my free charger and try out the service and nothing. At least android pay works

Yep haha. I just happened to be a in Best Buy store because my friend works there and I was able to hold the phone without the security tether. Their resident "Samsung Expert" was the one who told me that. Only for me to see an article the next day about how VZW was allowing it on phones.

I was able to install Samsung Pay from the Play Store, but adding a card won't work on my Verizon S7.
I called Samsung Pay support and ran through settings, clear cache, uninstall, restart device, reinstall Pay and still won't connect to server to add any cards.
They have sent it up the chain at Samsung Support and said I should hear back within 48 hours.

Samsung Pay Experience Thread

Just got my Samsung Pay Beta activated on my phone two days ago (Sprint GS6) and I wanted to share my experience. In short, it works brilliantly. I tried it today for the first time. I have my chip & pin Bank of America card attached to it.
The first place I tried was Walgreens. They have NFC readers, but I turned off NFC because I wanted to try the MST part to see how good it would work. As soon as the cashier told me how much I had to pay, I put my phone up to the reader and it worked almost instantly. I was actually surprised at how fast it was, even faster than NFC (Google Wallet) from my past experiences. The cashier didn't even flinch or ask questions, I guess she is used to people paying with their phones.
The second place I tried was Dollar Tree. I pretty much did the same thing, as soon as she told me the price I held the phone to the reader and it worked instantly. This time the cashier had never seen someone pay with their phone. She asked me if I had just paid with my phone and I said yes. She told me I was very advanced and modern (she was an older lady) and the old lady behind me said the same thing. She was smiling the whole time I was walking out the door. I laughed and told them it was the new Samsung Pay.
So far it has been a really nice positive experience from ease of use, to cashier response. I need to try it at more places obviously. Just one thing to mention, when the phone is off and you pull up the credit card, you have to swipe up all the way to the middle of the screen for it to recognize what you are trying to do and turn on. I wish they made it a smaller swipe motion.
I'll update this as I try it at more places. I plan on getting the Gear S2 Classic, so I'm excited to try NFC on that as well.
Got my beta a few days ago, just updated my FW today (T-Mobile Latest) still can't get the placeholder app to give me the install button.
no experience yet. samsung just keeps emailing saying im invited to test the beta and i just keep putting in my email....maybe I'll get the link to the beta app on the 27th....

Are you signed into your Samsung account on the phone? Your Samsung sign-in has to be the same email as the email you signed up for in beta.

Yeah. I wasn't at first but I fixed that quick. Wiped the galaxy app store, account, Samsung pay and samsumg÷ app. I even tried downloading someone else's Samsung pay and framework app. That got me further. I was able to get all the way to where it sees your login and I hit next it tries to load but fails.

I've read that it takes a few days to show up for some people, I hope it works soon for you.
used it the other day. Strange experience. but it worked flawlessly at Home Depot
Its also cool you can swipe up with the screen off and active it so you dont have to have it active all the time
(FYI: i had to call Samsung Pay to get beta activated because this is my 2nd phone and they had tied to the original IMEI i had)
Tried it at GameStop today and the MST worked flawlessly. Only this time the cashier asked me for the last 4 digits of the card. Samsung just updated the app yesterday and now it shows the last 4 digits of the digital card right under the last 4 digits of the real card. It did not show that before, so it is a nice update. Showed him my phone and was out the door. He was totally confused about the whole transaction, had never seen it done before.

Reported the same bug and got a ticket in as well. It seems to break both the top IR blaster (used by the Peel remote) and the proximity IR emitter on the front (used by Beep'nGo).
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what was wrong with my IR Blaster. I'm glad my hunch was right and that Samsung Pay (once a card is activated in the software) is the culprit.
Well, I was very excited to see Samsung Pay available for my use today. After the hour or so of updates that I needed, I went to start adding cards to it. Out of about 6 cards in my wallet, only one actually works. So, yeah, it's great that it can be used at more places than Google Pay or Apple Pay, but only with one of my cards, which happens to be an AmEx, which also means that it's NOT accepted at a lot of places.
Also, when I tried using it at the grocery store, I couldn't get it to work. I kept holding it near the card swipe slot, moving the phone around, never got it.

This depends on the given country and also the local banks AFAIK.
I got it activated today and added a card.
Seems a bit laggy at times,
It's froze a couple of times on me.
Have yet to try it, I will next time IF I REMEMBER lol.
Gotta get used to it.
Also Question, do you have to have NFC activated or android beam in order to use sam pay?

Nope. NFC is merely a fallback if it cannot do a MST. I keep NFC off just to try and get MST sales to go through.

Samsung S7 Edge Samsung Pay Not Compatible

Just got my S7 edge Verizon version from Best Buy. Samsung Pay is not include as an app. I am not able to download from google play stating it is not compatible with my device. It's not even rooted yet LOL..., Samsung website clearly states that S7 and S7 edge are compatible with Verizon....
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I'm trying to figure out the same. Someone told me to go to the Samsung Store, which I remember having on S6...but it's also not on the S7 Edge. Only thing I can think of now is to sideload the Samsung Pay apk from apkmirror?
Also interested. There aren't very many of the free wireless chargers being given away with this promotion.

I am going to try the apk. I will let you know how it works.
Just picked up my S7 Edge from BB today, no Samsung Pay here either.
It is to be released on the 11th for the s7. Just after the charger promotion is over.
Go to the galaxy apps widget, sign in, go to my apps and there is a Samsung pay in there. It isn't the widget, but the framework. Download and update. Then the Samsung apk worked. You might want to see if the Play Store works after making the framework update, but if not the apk did for me.

I followed the instructions with no success. I will call...
Below is the chat I had with Samsung..... Short version....they will release the Samsung Pay for Verizon on 3/11/16. But I am not sure I believe that....
You are now chatting with 'Sameera V'. The reference number for this chat is 4305640821. There will be a brief survey at the end of our chat to share feedback on my performance today.
Sameera V: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Dredq: Hi I followed advice that I was emailed by Samsung and I still cannot download Samsung Pay
Dredq: I was told to erase data and cache from google play which I did
Sameera V: Hi Dredq, I will be glad to assist you with the issue you are facing.
Dredq: States that Samsung s7 edge Verizon USA model is not compatible with Samsung Play.
Sameera V: To assist you better, may I ask you a few questions?
Dredq: I have started a thread on XDA and multiple people are having the same issue
Dredq: All with Verizon phones
Sameera V: Okay. Thank You for the information.
Dredq: This will be a huge problem when phones are officially released on 3/11 by Verizon rather than being sold by Best Buy
Dredq: What info do you need
Sameera V: Have you contacted the carrier about this issue?
Dredq: No
Dredq: It seems like a Samsung Google play issue
Sameera V: Okay.
Dredq: I used an APK to download Pay and it functioned
Dredq: I got an update and the app crashed
Dredq: Update was for Samsung Pay
Sameera V: I should inform you that, Samsung Pay on S7 or S7 Edge with Verizon as their carrier, the Samsung Pay app will be available this Friday ie, 11th.March.
Dredq: I used 1.3 when using 1.6 it does not work
Dredq: So why would the new version of Pay not work on the VZ phone
Dredq: Are they releasing a new version just for VZ phones on Friday?
Sameera V: I do understand your concern. Please install the application and use it after 11th March.
Dredq: Let me try to explain
Sameera V: Sure.
Dredq: I downloaded and installed the latest APK of Samsung Pay. It did not work on the VZ phone. If I used the old 1.3 version it did work until I got an update for the new version of Pay.
Sameera V: Just to confirm, was it working on the same phone?
Dredq: The new version of Pay does not work on VZ phone unless there is a specific app for VZ phones being released on Friday. Is that the case? Or is it that Google play will determine that it is compatible? Yes it worked on the S7 edge, but only the 1.3 version
Sameera V: Thank You for the information.
Sameera V: Yes Dredq, it will be available on Friday.
Dredq: I am not the only person having this problem. If you look at XDA you can see others are having the same issue
Dredq: So are you saying on Friday there will be a new version specific for the VZ phones
Sameera V: I agree. However once the update release, the issue will be resolved.
Im able to install from the play store, but with the free wireless charger expired, I have no reason to. I'll likely be returning this phone anyway, I'm not at all impressed. Chrome especially performs poorly.

Farewell my Note 7 friends

I took the Galaxy S7 Edge today. i'm not happy about the exchange, but the fact that the Note 7 is banned from flying is a game changer for me as I fly weekly.
I was able to get Sprint to note my account that when the next Note style device becomes available I will have the opportunity to purchase that device at the upgrade price. I've got the "I Number" (interaction number) that shows everything is approved. When I was at the Sprint store this morning in St Louis, they pulled up the I number...read it and promptly said Good Luck! That was a little discouraging but at least I was able to read exactly what it said. The floor manager said that his store would never be able to honor that and that I would definitely have to work that upgrade through the Customer Care number.
Anyways....I'm off to the S7 Edge forums. I've got some reading, rooting and Hotspot tweaks to make
Take care compadres.

Verizon Blocking Samsung Cloud

I switched to Verizon from Sprint and may be regretting that decision as Verizon is blocking the Samsung 15GB of cloud access I was using on Sprint. Seems that Verizon is being the greedy company as they are forcing you to buy anything over 5GB of cloud storage. I find the Samsung cloud backs up more when it comes to phone settings then the Verizon one does. I understand all carriers put their own software on the phone but I never had a vendor block and app or feature such as that. Debating on just switching back to Sprint.
have you tried side loading?
I don't have the app installer to even try that, it is also not in the Play Store, it was something Samsung installed. If I used Quick Shortcut maker I can see it in "activities" but it won't launch properly. I think Verizon did something to prevent it from loading.

They did this on the Note 7, I think eventually a way was found. Try searching the verizon note 7 forums.
If Samsung provides free functionality on the phone that duplicates something that Verizon offers for a monthly fee - like cloud storage, for example - that Samsung free feature will be removed by Verizon.
Last year, they removed Samsung's "FindMyMobile" feature from the S7. When I inquired about why it was removed, they steered me toward their VZ Protection service - that has similar locate and wipe capabilities - for only $11.99/month.
Ever wonder how they got to be worth $200 billion?

I looked into this and I found out that FindMyMobile can turn location services on, which is useful for me as I usually leave location off unless I need it. I believe my verizon s5 had included, so somewhere along the line verizon forced it to be removed.

Galaxy s7 edge discontinued at Tmo

So I've been wondering for about 2 months now what's been up with the s7 edge. About 3 month's ago in April it went on sale for $480 while the s7 was on sale for $560. I thought that was weird and wasn't sure how long that sale would last so I bought the coral blue edition. When I asked how long it would be on sale, no one knew. Move on 2 months later and the sale was still going on, for both phones. I did notice online at the tmo website, the edge was not available and the sale was still being displayed in store. Fast forward to today, I asked a rep today at the store, now in July was told the s7 edge was discontinued, none in store, and none online at tmo. She said they had been out of stock for a while now
and that the flat s7 was still being sold as they had many in stock, still for the sale of $560 but the edge would not be coming back because "MAYBE" the flat was selling better.
Now, was it because of the palm rejection issues that plagued some of the first batches. I had the black one when it first dropped and it was almost unusable due to that so I returned it, got the note 4 back ( hell yea ) only to get the coral blue edge which was manufactured in December, which seems to have had the palm rejection problem fixed (I still have the note 4), so has anyone else asked their local store about the s7 edge? It seems like we might a limited edition phone on our hands, a unicorn if you will.

Yeah, I wonder if you have insurance or need a replacement for a defect they have some or are they getting them straight from samsung. There are none for sale anymore. Ask the store when you go to pick up your new one, I'm curious to hear what they have to say. I asked another store yesterday and they said the same thing that they won't be selling it anymore, so maybe if your need a replacement in the future they will give you a s8?

I was at T-Mobile yesterday and they have no S7 Edge left in stock and will not get any more because they quit making the series. They did have some S7 devices left but said when they are gone the same will apply. Bye Bye S7 Series
I'm surprised they replaced it for you, I'm a Samsung rep at Best buy. I get people who come in with locked Google accounts and they think we have a magic tool to remove it. Anyways We don't and they leave unhappy blaming us for their mistake. There are ways to remove it by 3rd party but not us.

They still make the s6 or do they just have a lot left over because you can still get one, the employee asked if I wanted one instead but told him I was just checking on the status of the s7 as I already have a s7 edge and have no need for the s6 or the note 5. So can we expect 8.0 in 2019 as the s8 and note 7, note 8 will see those 1st?
