Add NFC to our european phones - Honor 7 General

Hi friends,
I've been thinking about if could be possible add nfc to our european models.
I tried to find chinese al10 rear case as repair piece so we might be able to convect to our phones (I dont know is our phone just dont have thr nfc label or also dont have nfc controller).
It might be possible to add other phones "labels" in this phone.
Other point is software, it might not have the drivers we could need ot we would need to flash the chinese rom...
So many wonders, my knowledge is so limited, but for me, thinking in payments, is the only thing I see to have my perfect phone.
Warm regards,

Nothing new?
I was thinking about the same thing for a few days but couldn't find anything, no help from others?
Does anybody know where the nfc antenna is actually located in the chinese version?
Thanks

I am chinese, I have a chinese version with nfc.
It almost useless because honor 7 nfc is on screen side .....
That's meam you put the some nfc tag on your phone , you can not touch you screen....

Nfc under the screen.... And in eu no nfc.... But but WHY!? ?

Because the Europeans are very, very, fussy and didn’t tolerate that! -->

IMHO, I just focus about payments capabilities, juat because of that i would like to add nfc.
I havent use that function yet in any phone, but android MM enables figerprint api, and so our phone fingerprint sensor is located in the backside, it could make sense if the nfc is located on the screen so at the time you approach the phone, you can scab your fingerprint
Maybe someone that knows how thar kind of payments works can bring feedback.
Regards

@chestermax ...where specifically on the screenside is the NFC antenna located? upper-left, lower-right, middle? Or having any references available to documentation where it's NFC location is drawn up?

Attached is a picture of NFC location. As is it obvious also from picture the NFC could be used only from front (screen) side of the phone. The back of the phone is metal and any antenna from that side is blocked. Therefore all other antennas (gsm, lte, gps, wifi) are placed on the top and bottom of device, where plastic edges replace the metal cover.

How to disassemble the HTC HD2?

I need a guide how to take off the screen from the backcover. There are 4 screws, but when you remove them, the screen doesn't move, also when using a vacuum pump.
Is there a special trick to get the display removed?
I know, a guy @ www.xda-china.com has managed to disassemble the HD2, but as i don't understand chinese i can't register there and ask him.

No idea about your question, but did you ever try the google translation tools on this web site? It should be possible to translate it to English at least. Mabye that brings you forward ...
Request!
When taking your HD2 apart, could you PLEASE do the following:
Take high resolution pictures of the chips inside (pref. ALL chips)
A lot of us here really want to know what the memory chips say and what the broadcom chip says!
This would help a lot in the possible (if possible) development of a FM transmitter driver/app for the HD2 and it would once and for all answer the question if we have 448MB or 576MB of RAM and 512MB or 1GB of ROM.
Thanks a lot!
AGREE!
Yeah, i totally agree with ralphfx.
In this thread, i also requested some high quality pictures of the chips located inside the HD2 - the Boradcom chip especially.
This would be highly appreciated.
yeah,we are all interested about ram rom and comm chipset....we really appreciate if you take photos about this argument....
1. have a nice insurance
2. use excessive force
3. take pictures
4. call the insurance company, tell them someone bumped in to you on the bus and the phone fell and people walked on it
5. Win Win situation, we get pics, you get new phone
may I ask why you want to open it?

because the right upper corner of the display is lower than the other three corners and i would like to fix this. But i won't do that unless i have a really good guide, in order not to destroy the HD2.
i can recognize the same thing on my phone (at least it seems to be so). but:
(1) it is maybe 0.1mm difference at the top right corner _at most_ (just feelable when you move your fingers over the corners slightly and compare)
(2) there is no difference in the other corners, especially not in the lower left one. which makes me assume that it is not the screen that is tilt, but the frame that is bend. (did you check that with a master tool? maybe difficult due to the keys at the bottom...)
anyway, the difference is (at least over here) so small i didnt even realize it until i read your thread and took a _very_ close look at mine. of course, how bad it really is is highly subjective and as we all want pictures from the chips inside as well: plz go ahead! (and someone give him that howto finally!)
I had to remove the camera from my HD and here is how I have done it:
(This information is provided as is without warranty to accuracy. I take no responsibility for your action. Removing the back cover will void the warranty!)
Image 1:
Remove the 4 Screws. As you see on the Image, two of the screws have a stickers on them. I tried but I couldn't remove them in one piece. From this point on, you no longer have warranty on your phone!)
Image 2:
To remove the back, you need a plastic tool like the one on the Image.
Do not use metal or other hard tools. (They will damage the very soft and fragile frame and your phone will look ugly.)
Image 3 - Top:
These are the hooks that keep the top in place. You have to insert the plastic tool between the display and the frame and very carefully disengage the hooks on both sides.
Image 3 - Bottom:
The bottom side of the cover. On this side there are no hooks only a long retaining edge. At the reassembly this edge clips in first and then the top hooks snap in.
That's all. I haven't disassembled the phone any further as I only needed to get to the camera.
For all of you, who are not allowed to carry a phone with camera at work: this is your device! As there is no second forward facing camera, only the main camera must be removed. It is held by a cage (see last image). This can be carefully pried up and turned to the side. Then the camera can be removed and the cage closed again. Be very careful! The release for the cage is above some capacitors and you have not much space to work. Use a sharp and tiny screwdriver.
The camera driver is intelligent enough not to cause any side effects. When the camera software is started, nothing happens. No error message, no freezing, nothing.
I closed the camera hole with a piece of black plastic (from the back of a CD cover) and so it still looks fine.
The HD2 is the best business phone and it is a real joy to use in a daily basis...
Cheers,
Thinman

I'm sorry, I can't do that. I took the images in December right after my phone arrived and as you know: never change a runnig system...
The Frame around the Display is VERY soft and disassembling the phone repeatedly will certainly introduce some dents and bumps.
I had two minor ones (due to the fact, that there were no guides and I was looking for the hooks on the side) but I could smooth them out, so hey are barely visible.
I will check my images at home in the evening. Maybe I have one where the chip is visible but don't hold your breath as it wasn't my main concern back then.

It's to the right of the Camera Opening on Image 3. It's attached to the back cover and is connected by springloaded contacts (can be seen on the last image).
There are no wires between the back cover and the Display/MainModule. Everything is connected by touch contacts. Makes the removal very simple.

actually you made me lol
pretty common sense/logic that he is not allowed to use the camera inside the building in his line of work
another example is when I went to the VW/Audi factory in germany with my class a couple of years ago we had to turn in our phones at the entrance due to security reasons... also in places where there's government secrets/building - if you get caught in action you can get jail (something like that, was a while ago....)

NFC distance

Hi, anyone of you using NFC tags?
I bought some and don't know if they are working correctly...
My tags are only found when they touch the back glass - when there is a little spacing they don't work! Whey I use the plastic phone protection (less than 1mm thick) the tags are not detected any more! (maybe once in 100 attempts)
What distance do you reach?
Is there a possibility to increase the range?
What part of the back are you touching? The antenna is right between the LG and the Nexus. http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/yapggXkL1qUdlt3J.huge (The black sticker)
It works fine with my dixtronic. That covers the glass too.
I believe NFC has a maximum working distance of 1.5 inches.
AW: NFC distance
1.5 inch are about 3.5 cm - I don't even get 0.3 cm!
It is independant of where I put the tag - believe me, I tried it everywhere on the phone...
So you manage distances of several cm? Then I must have bought bad tags...
AW: NFC distance
Once more:
- What tags are you using?
- What distance between Nexus 4 and tags is (really) possible?
I'm having this same issue and this thread came up in Search so I thought I'd revive it instead of making my own thread.
I am using two different NFC stickers as my test. One is actually stuck to my desk at work, the other is still on the wax paper it came on. I can only get the movable sticker to read, and that's only when I touch it to the back of my Nexus and slide it down. Once it reads, I set it down on my desk to act like it's stuck (in case the one that is stuck there is bad) and I can't get it to read. I even set the phone down on it, nothing. I hover a millimeter above the desk and slide it down the phone and I get nothing. When I lift it back up and touch it to the back and slide like before, it reads. Why is my range SO small? How is it not reading the stickers when they're horizontal on my desk? If it matters at all, I bought the stickers from the people who made NFC Task Launcher app.
Well - to be honest, I do not use them anymore...
BUT: If you try "NTAG203 168 Byte" or "NXP Mifare Classic 1K" or "NXP Mifare Ultralight C 192 Byte" (the best one) you can reach far more distances (up to ~2cm) - then it works though the Phone-Cover and some mm more plastic without any problems.
Ok I did more messing around and found out what was wrong, I'll post in case anyone in the future finds this thread.
After doing more experiments, I found that I could lift the phone up, and lift the sticker up and it would read the sticker from a distance of around 2-3cm. I tried doing it horizontally and vertically, in case for some random reason, my phone's NFC wouldn't read horizontally. It worked when off the desk, but as soon as I set the sticker back down and tried to read it, nothing. After pondering for a bit, it hit me. My desk is basically all metal. I didn't really think of it because most of what I see is "wood", but upon further investigating I found out it's just a thin covering of some material that looks like wood on a full-metal desk. After 1 Google search, I find out that metal can interfere with NFC signal, which is why I couldn't pick up my tags on the desk.
Sure enough, put the tags on a small stack of sticky-notes and my phone read it from about 3cm above the tag. Problem solved. Man, that was frustrating. I was worried that my phone's NFC sensor was defective or something. I wasn't about to RMA and wait for weeks to get my phone back, I'd miss the thing too much so I'd just live with it. Well, that's not the case so great. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

I've tried tried on a wireless payment card and my N4 can read it through 5mm of paper, any more than that it can't find it.
The problem may be with your tags, do you have anything else you can test it with like a wireless credit card or transport card?

[Q] So ... NFC is basically worthless if you use a case?

So I got some NFC tags, planning to automate some functions for convenience.
One to turn off wifi and turn on GPS, BT and mobile data for use in my car and one to do the reverse when I get home, etc.
I got the things and immediately saw the problem. My S4 is in an S-view case that is not particularly thick.
While in the case, the phone simply does not "see" the tag at all. Out of the case, it does.
So essentially, if I want to use NFC, I have to take the phone out of the case first.
Is that it? Anyone have any ideas?

I can only say that NFC works fine on my s4 with an OBEX case on it. Are you sure you are using the correct tags for the s4?
Nfc works quite a bit of distance away. Mine goes through my spiegen case and my wallet(have a tag to unlock on my bum) and it works flawless.

It does work pretty well through plastic.... it goes through a friend's otterbox defender case and my spiegen just fine

Very interesting. I am using brand new Samsung Tectiles, bought from Samsung.
The case is not that thick, but there is a piece of metal stuck to the inside back for my iMagnet car mount.
Could that be the culprit?
That would be a bummer as it is the best mount I have found so far - bar none.

Oneplus 5 not detecting NFC tags

I bought these NFC tags from amazon http://www.amazon.in/LINQS-NTAG216-Stickers-Waterproof-Compatible/dp/B01DUG1FX6. My OP5 doesn't seem to detect them. I used trigger and NFC tools app from the playstore but none of them worked. Any suggestions?
Are you matching the tags to the correct spot on the phone? Try holding then up to the camera lense.

Yes. Because nfc only works through glass.
This post belongs in the question and answers thread.
You'll obviously get more feedback there.

RIP NFC.

Hey everyone,
I seem to have a problem with my NFC It's not working AT ALL. I tried it with multiple NFC products such as my speaker and using android pay methods. None of them worked at all. If my NFC is fried and needs replacing and would I have take the phone apart just to get to the NFC to replace it?
I really don't know what's wrong with it. The phone says its connected and ready to go but it STILL doesn't work? Anyone got any suggestions. Sorry to be a a pain.
I use the NFC on my N6P for golfing. I had trouble finding the "sweet spot" and the mfg of the tags I use referenced a Reddit discussion. Apparently, the sweet spot is up near the camera bulge because the NFC won't work through the metal back of the case. You might give that a try.
