X force work on verizon? - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm considering ordering an X force from out of the US so I can have an unlocked bootloader (with the hope of devs coming eventually). has anyone else dont this and tested that the phone does have all the VZW bands activated?

Sorry, but it won't work. It's a GSM phone with no CDMA radios, and it's missing Verizon's LTE band 13

Droid 2 Global on GSM

Hey guys, I saw this Global edition is coming out, anyone know if it would work straight up on a GSM network? I'm on Rogers in Canada, same netwrok as AT&T and unfortunately GSM android phone selection blows and I've wanted a Droid for ever. Does the Global have a SIM card slot, would it work as a GSM phone or is it strictly designed to work on CDMA and work on GSM from time to time?
Please for the love of god someone tell me it will work as a normal GSM phone, I want a good android phone
Well here in america I know they have the black berrys such as the storm 1 that are gsm and also have verizon "sim cards" in them (yeah, weird I know..) so I want to assume that the phone will be coming with a sim card slot somewhere but honestly I haven't heard much either about the droid 2 we..when I first saw it I had no idea what a "we" droid 2 was lol...neither did google ...hahah

Hahaha thanks man, I'm going to wait till thing gets pushed out finally hopefully someone will tear it apart.
But if anyone else knows anything else please chime in. This could be sweet if it works
Like the global phones of yesteryear (Blackberry devices, a few Windows mobile ones and some feature phones), they come with a VodaFone SIM for use with global roaming. It is SIM-locked (subsidy locked) however and you'll need to unlock it. Verizon routinely does this for regular customers on contract but if you buy the Pro or D2 Global unsubsidized they generally won't and you'll have to unlock it via a third party.
Once it's unlocked: It's tri-band UMTS. I'm not an expert on UMTS frequencies around the globe. I know it'll work in a couple hundred countries outside North America but I have no idea if it'll work at 3G speeds on US or Canadian GSM networks. It'll definitely work for phone calls and 2G data on AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers, etc since it's quad-band GSM - this is how the global BlackBerry devices work. My old Storm 1 is still in use by someone on AT&T and I intend to sell my current unlocked Storm 2 when I finally break down and pick up one of the new global Droids.
Just got a Droid 2 Global. It has a VZW/Vodafone sim in it, no idea if it's SIM Locked(I'm sure it is). Once you get it unlocked, it shouldent be hard to get working with a rogers sim.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/droid-2-global-motorola-nbsp.shtml
states:
# All–Digital, 800/1900, CDMA EVDO rev A
# Quad Band GSM – 850/900/1800/1900MHz
# Tri–Band UMTS/HSPA – 850 /1900/2100MHz
So according to this, if its unlocked, it should work for Rogers or AT&T 3G
Any ideas on how to get it unlocked ?
i'm sure a third party company can unlock it like how the storm 1s were unlocked, just have to wait and see since it was barely released from vzw.
I got my D2 Global SIM unlocked yesterday. Called VZW Global Support (1-800-711-8300) and they gave me the code (once you put in a non-VZW SIM, it will automatically ask you for the code.) As long as your line has been active for at least 6 months with no late payments, they will hook you up.
HOWEVER, it appears there may be more to the unlocking process. When I did a GSM network scan, no networks showed up. Others on various forums have been reporting the same issue in the last day or so. Normally when you put in a SIM into an unlocked GSM phone, you will see the roaming network options.
It's possible that they have blocked US GSM networks and foreign networks will work fine, but I'm hoping others can shed some light on the issue.

Not quite. If you look at the D2G user guide on the Motorola website, it says on page 12: "DROID2 Global by Motorola switches effortlessly between CDMA, GSM 900, GSM 1800, and UMTS 2100 networks, so you can make calls in over 200 countries worldwide."
So it seems that VZW has restricted use of the 850/1900 MHz GSM/UMTS bands, even though the device has the hardware to support them. Most foreign networks use 900/1800 GSM and 2100 UMTS but AT&T/T-Mobile use 850/1900, which is why no one has had any success with them yet.
Hopefully someone can figure out a workaround.
Yes - hopefully someone can find a workaround for this. The same is true for the Droid Pro in that even once the phone is unlocked it will not work on ATT networks.

Trying to decide between ATT or Tmo version: How crucial will LTE band 5 (850mhz) be?

I am currently on ATT and was looking to purchase an off contract Moto X today but wasn't sure which one to get.
I've heard people say "Oh get the Tmobile version as it has bands for both and is unlocked"...
...but when I look at the specs for both I see the Tmobile version is missing LTE band 5 (850mhz)
Anyone here with technical knowledge of ATT LTE bands know how crucial 850mhz band 5 will be coverage wise?
Is it worth going with the ATT version to have that band for good LTE coverage long term?

its not the same, BUT
I think band 5 is not used in USA
Hard to say what AT&T will do in the future. From reading here there are a few places where AT&T is using band 5 for LTE service. AT&T would have had the choice of hardware when they decided to sell the Moto X and they chose the XT1058 and not the XT1053. Maybe they consider band 5 support important, maybe they just wanted a phone which didn't fully support Tmobile.

Wind Moto X Play LTE Capable?

Hello Everyone,
This may be a Dumb question but here goes...
Does the wind version of the Moto X Play support LTE out of box? or can it be patched to use Telus LTE bands ?
any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
This question on 2015? Really?
Yes it's lte ready
It's a fair question if you realize that the carrier he was asking about does not have LTE services.
Wind mobile is a Canadian carrier that only has AWS bands - no LTE. For all we know Wind might have crippled something ALL THOUGH I doubt that is the case.
All the Moto X Play sold in Canada are XT1563 - Bell, Telus (Koodo) each have their own respective firmware but l think that the minor players - Videotron & Wind probably have just have generic baseband. The jury is still out though on that.
Regardless though all the XT1563 are North American friendly in that they have all the LTE bands + AWS bands in UMTS & LTE. So you should be good to go with a Wind unit on Telus outside of getting the phone unlocked (SIM) if indeed Wind locks them. I know that Telus /Koodo /Bell are locked.

*sigh*... AWS IS an LTE... LTE isn't a frequency, it's a technology. AWS refers to a band, within the LTE spectrum. LTE/UMTS are competing technologies, essentially using different languages to communicate over the same frequencies. Different languages have different capacities for transferring data, different frequencies allow for less distortion or less interference from other carriers, and other towers of the same carrier.
AWS bands come in 3G and LTE flavors. Wind Mobile doesn't have LTE services deployed on their network.
See screen shots.
The Moto X Play will run quite happily on 3G AWS 1700/2100 on the Wind Mobile network but will be limited in data speeds to 3G network.
On Telus the Moto X Play will use the same AWS 1700/2100 but because Telus has LTE deployment it will have way faster d/l speeds.
It was a fair question from the o/p in that it is a very common occurrence to have phones not working on Wind that have been bought elsewhere. I'm sure he was asking in case that the reverse was true which in this case is not.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just bought an x play on wind and I am having troubles with the reception. First I had a moto e with them and it worked fine displaying the "H+" symbol and fast data speeds. This moto x play I just bought, worked fine the first day, but now only shows 3G. I installed the two upgrades for moto x play, and now I am currently on the 6.0.1. anyonewith the same problem? I will be calling wind mobile soon, since I am unable to find a solution.

Do speedtests, you'll notice you are getting above 3g speeds.

Sprint version work on Verizon

Wondering if the Sprint version will work on Verizon? She has an iPhone so I know it works on Verizon and vice versa wondering if the v20 has the correct CDMA radios
Umm, try?
No, the Sprint model has ddifferent CDMA 850 MHz bands than the Verizon model.
an iPhone comes with all bands supported, so that it why they can pretty much be used on any network.
I wish LG would have done the same thing with the V20 instead of having a half dozen models.
Dammit the note 7 had all the band's on all the different carriers as well. Being that they are both 820 snaps I figured it was the same

4G not working on sprint HTC m8

hi everyone i'm not sure to be in the good place but i'm from Morroco and i baught a sprint htc one m8 harman kardon edition with bad esn and it's root s'off bootloader unlocked and sim unlocked etc and i would like to know about using 4g or lte with it in Morroco ,is it possible?it only works with 2g but when i select 4g or lte i have no signal ,can someone help me?is there a solution to make it work in Morroco ?
From what I can tell from here, carriers in Morocco use 1800 MHz for LTE. Sprint M8 doesn't support that LTE band, out of the box, according to the specs here.
Since you are s-off, root, etc, you can try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/how-to-convert-cdma-m8-sprint-vzw-gsm-t3303812
Not personally vouching for this method at all. And you need to understand the warnings, accordingly.
You can also try the following method, but I've read that it won't work on Sprint: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/unlock-bands-qualcomm-device-phone-t2880239
Really, you made the worst choice in M8 version. I don't recommend the Sprint and Verizon "CDMA" (supports the CDMA voice bands, in addition to some GSM bands) versions M8 for anyone, except those in the US using those specific (Sprint, Verizon) carriers.
