Hi, Does any know if its all vice versa?
NOTE3 AT&T and T-Mobile NOTE3 using it with a T-Mobile SIM, (vice versa) T-mobile & A&T NOTE3 using AT&T SIM?
(Both NOTE3 is unlocked & using in urban BIG city)
Will there be any difference speed LTE and speed 3G & 4G you receive?

If S4 history repeats itself the ATT buyers will be stung with crappy locked bootloaders. Meanwhile the TMO device is pentaband and unlocked bootloader. Depending on battery life benchmarks the only sane decision is between TMO Note 3 and the international N3.

Not to hijack the thread but does anyone know which one would be compatible for Wind/Mobilcity (Aws Canadian Market)?
Note 3 from At&Tor T-Mobile... in the past I believe T-Mobile phones are compatible because of 1700 and 2100 frequencies... however due to T-Mobile refarming (I have limited knowledge about it) and new frequencies.... would an At&t note 3 be modified to work on aws

To my knowledge, the international Note 3 does not have LTE radios. It has an octacore instead of quad but thats the trade off.

There are two models: one is the octa-core with no LTE. The other is Snapdragon 800 with LTE. However, both will only get HSPA+ on AT&T (anywhere) and HSPA+ on T-Mobile (in refarmed areas). The international LTE model won't get US LTE because we don't use the same LTE bands as they do in Europe.
In the US, if you're on a GSM network the best model to get is the T-Mobile model, even if you're on AT&T. It works 100% with AT&T and T-Mobile (refarmed areas or not) and has an unlocked bootloader.

I apologize to bring up an old thread, but I figured I'd ask it here as opposed to starting yet another thread.
Do you know if the Tmobile Note 3 is pentaband (i.e., like the Nexus 4/5)? I'm planning to use it outside of the US and just need to know if it can get 3G in European countries.
A poster above mentioned that the Tmobile Note 3 version is pentaband, but googling for the answer to this has yielded no solid results.

Yes. 850/900/1800/1900 on EDGE, and 850/[900 isn't mentioned but I assume it's there]/1700/1900/2100 for HSPA+. It should work fine.
EDIT: Confirmed 900 MHz is there. Look at the last post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536817

I am a little confused about some information I found on Verizon's Note 3 Page. It says that the Note 3 will be a CDMA phone but then lists the following bands:
CDMA Data – 1x and EVDO Rev0/RevA
LTE: B13 (700MHz)

I don't have the answer but I can recommend you to contact Samsung wireless. They certainly have much more credibility.

All Verizon 4G LTE devices take SIM cards. They have to, since LTE is based on GSM. Also, historically, Verizon doesn't carrier-lock the LTE/HSPA/GSM part of their 4G LTE phones, so SIM cards from other carriers will work in a Verizon LTE phone out of the box.

I found the answer here, by the Answerer #2. The 4G/Data part of a global ready phone is GSM compatible, and only that part can be locked for data internationally; the calling part will still depend on CDMA in other countries. If that information is accurate, I will stick to an AT&T Note 3.

Truth be told. LTE has more in command with CDMA in terms of radio/air interfaces. It covered within 3GPP standards (GSM then EDGE, the UMTS, HSDPA, etc). Rather than 3GPP2 for CDMA1x and EVDO. That's why Alcatel Lucent had a leg up on LTE since its deployment is more akin (specterally) to CDMA. But they dropped the ball, and except for the US and Some Asian markets, the rest of the world has 3GPP based networks deployed.
the Simple version, is LTE is not directly compatible with any 2G/3G technology, but since its covered in 3GPP, the standards evolved quicker to ensure GSM/EDGE/HSDPA interworking.
And beyond that.. what most people dont know, that interworking doesnt really work that widespread yet. In the US most mobile handsets operate on dual frequencies (especially all VzW models, ATT models are catching up) so they effectively talk CDMA1x and LTE at the same time. iPhones do not support that capability, but GSM has work arounds to allow talk+data.

(btw.. anyone with iOS7 and ATT.. what out you've got problems you dont know about when going back forth from 3G to 4G.. I know since at work we talked about how to fix it..
I believe a rumor was that it has the same LTE baseband chip as the iphone 5s so that you could potentially use the Verizon version on AT&T and T-mobile...any truth to that?

Not true, I put a T-Mobile SIM in my Verizon Note 2 and made calls, sent texts, and used data on GPRS, EDGE, and HSPA+.

Global-ready is basically verizon's way of saying that it has a GSM 3G radio as well as a CDMA radio. That allows the phone to operate in Europe where there is no CDMA service. You can purchase international service from Verizon, or purchase a SIM from a European carrier while overseas. All verizon 4G phones have a GSM 4G radio anyway, because LTE is GSM.
(This means that with an LTE carrier in Europe, any 4G Verizon phone can get data in Europe even if they can't place voice calls (VoIP still possible)).
If I am not wrong with what I am saying, Verizon LTE phones only support LTE BAND: 13, which means that IF you are willing to use 4G with different carrier, they have to support LTE band 13. I have tried to use my Verizon Galaxy Note 2 in South Korea, I was only able to use 3G network via WCDMA, I wasn't able to get LTE service at all. Correct me if I am wrong.

the different N3 variants due in fact support different LTE bands, so you are correct. Minor point not worth nitpicking from earlier post, GSM is not LTE. they both evolved from the same 3GPP standards body, but portions spread spectrum nature of LTE is more similar to CDMA than GSM.
I went to Korea last October, and they wouldn't allow prepaid 4g LTE. They would only allow 3G for prepaid service.
I had a note 2 rooted and custom rom when I went. I'm a US citizen and you have to wait about 2-3 days before you are allowed to sign up for any plan on what they told me.
I am currently on ATT and was looking to purchase an off contract Moto X today but wasn't sure which one to get.
I've heard people say "Oh get the Tmobile version as it has bands for both and is unlocked"...
...but when I look at the specs for both I see the Tmobile version is missing LTE band 5 (850mhz)
Anyone here with technical knowledge of ATT LTE bands know how crucial 850mhz band 5 will be coverage wise?
Is it worth going with the ATT version to have that band for good LTE coverage long term?

Tmobile version is the same actually Motorola just changed it on their site from tmobile to gsm unlocked (comes with tmo sim)

I think band 5 is not used in USA
Hard to say what AT&T will do in the future. From reading here there are a few places where AT&T is using band 5 for LTE service. AT&T would have had the choice of hardware when they decided to sell the Moto X and they chose the XT1058 and not the XT1053. Maybe they consider band 5 support important, maybe they just wanted a phone which didn't fully support Tmobile.

Ok I am so confused on what to do and hope I can get some insight here
I ordered an LG V20 unlocked from Amazon.com. I fell in love with the phone but within a couple of days it started to develop vertical lines on a portion of the screen. LG can take it in and fix it but I find it's easier to do a return to Amazon. I ordered another and it arrived before I returned the other one.
However!
This one, under the same listing, is a LOCKED T-Mobile version, model H918.
My previous unlocked one is H996.

So my dilemma. I am in the US and return to Canada for the summers. I am with Freedom Mobile (once Wind Mobile) who now is LTE (band 66). When I received my first V20 from Amazon I called LG to inquire if my model H996 would work with them, and if it had band 66....because everywhere online it said it hadn't. I was informed it did indeed have band 66 now....even if it doesn't say it on their site or anywhere else online!
I know from research that H918 has band 66.....but....
1. This replacement cost me 80 more on Amazon
2. I'd have to get it unlocked
3. I very much dislike all this T-Mobile stuff on it that I will not use
4. Probably the worst thing is the T-Mobile Start up. I loved my normal H996 LG start up. I know silly, but true!
So I guess my questions are....
A. Does anyone know about this band 66 thing? I am going to call LG again to confirm that the H996 will work if I have it fixed.
B. Does the H918 have anything that the H996 doesn't have? I've researched on here and apparently it has an FM radio....and more roms available.
C. If I keep the H918 and decide to root it....are there roms that can change the start up into something else other than T-Mobile?

The H918 (and some other models as well) have the Band IV or AWS or 1700/1900 on the 3G/3G+/HSPA/HSPA+ frequency set (this Band IV in the 3G band only affects 3G). T-mobile uses Band IV on it's 3G network as well as the same 3G bands as AT&T, Bell, ROGERS, Telus (and Canada's little three including Koodo, Virgin Mobile, and FIDO) (for a long while, T-mobile only had the Band IV in 3G set which is why T-mobile needed it's own phone (but most of this has been replaced by LTE (4G, 4G LTE).
The Band 66 serves as one of the LTE bands on T-mobile and Freedom Mobile in Canada (western Canada only at this point) while LTE Band IV serves eastern Canada on Freedom.
If you are the type that likes to customize your ROMS, you will want a phone BOOTLOADER unlocked or BOOTLOADER unlockable like the T-mobile LG V20, G5, and other phones.
The problem with T-mobile phones in regards to SIM unlocking (i.e. using a ROGERS or EE or Orange SIM) is that the use a Device Unlock app (this has several requirements that have to be met before the phone can be unlocked. One of which it has to be on the T-mobile network for 40 days before it's even eligible).

Oh wow! Thanks so much for the info, I had to read it a couple of times to understand....it's all so confusing!
So basically, I should be sending the T-Mobile one back (H918) and keep/repair the US996....I am in Eastern Canada (Toronto) and don't plan on going west anytime soon, ha ha! I'm fine with keeping it stock too....just as long as it works on Freedom, I'm cool!

Pretty sure I've checked the available frequencies here especially the 800 & 900MHz bands as these are the ones which travel the furthest and are able to penetrate buildings better than the higher frequencies. I've attached a table of the main UK networks and what bands they use. So can anyone let me know I've got this right before I purchase. Many thanks

I am in the UK also and currently using O2 with no problems. I have also used an EE SIM again with no problems. The only thing you need to be aware that the VS995 will not pick up the SIM APNs automatically, at least that is what I found, so you will need to find the APN for whichever network you use. There are off-line APN finders you can find via Google. Hope this is of some help.

Hi, the LG V20 VS995 doesn't support ALL the bands used in the UK. It doesn't support one of the LTE bands used by Vodafone - the 2100Mhz band. So if you're on the Vodafone network, you may find that 4G/LTE speeds might be slightly slower.
I got all of this information from frequencycheck.com and it's usually where I get all my information on the bands that smartphones support.
The best option if you want to get a V20 that supports ALL bands in the UK (at this current time), is the LG V20 H990DS (Taiwanese Version).
That is the variant that I own and it supports every single band used in the UK.
The only other variant that supports all bands is the LG V20 H990N (Hong Kong version), but it only has Cat6 capability as opposed to the H990DS's Cat12 capability. Therefore, the maximum speed you'll be able to get is 300Mbp/s on the H990N - whereas on the H990DS you can get up to 600Mbp/s.

I'm not really sure that's true according to gsmarena it does support band 4(1700/2100) admittedly that's not the same as 1(2100). I'm sorry but in my ignorance I don't know . Maybe someone who is more enlightened could tell us what the difference is. See here.
Also the bit about the Cat 6, 9, 12 with LTE does not really bother me. For the VS995 it's LTE-A (3CA) Cat12 600/150 Mbps but for the H990N it's LTE-A (2CA) Cat6 300/50 Mbps. Now I ask you is anyone on this planet going to realistically even touch or even dream of a download speed of 300Mbps on a mobile network. I'm not even remotely getting this on my home fibre and we're watching UHD movies!!

LTE Band 4: This LTE band was introduced as a new band for the Americas at the World (Administrative) Radio Conference, WRC-2000. This international conference is where international spectrum allocations are agreed. The downlink of band 4 overlaps with the downlink for Band 1. This facilitates roaming.

LTE Band 4: This LTE band was introduced as a new band for the Americas at the World (Administrative) Radio Conference, WRC-2000. This international conference is where international spectrum allocations are agreed. The downlink of band 4 overlaps with the downlink for Band 1. This facilitates roaming.

To be on the safe side, I would just go for the H990N or H990DS. You also don't get the horrible, disgusting Verizon watermarks and logos (software and hardware) if you go with either of the H990 variants. But if you're not going to be using Vodafone, it doesn't really matter - because Vodafone is currently the only UK network that uses B1(2100) for 4G/LTE. Have you already ordered the phone?

Don't buy CDMA phones for use on GSM carriers, or phones not specific to your region! Though nearly all CDMA phones from Sprint and Verizon in the USA support GSM protocols like 2G: GSM, 3G: UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+, and some LTE bands, they are not always accessible. VS995 doesn't support Vodafone UK's LTE B1. I ran into problems with invalid sims and poor coverage because not all bands were unlocked by Verizon. If you want a V20 save the hassle and buy a GSM unlocked V20: US996, H990, H910 (won't get OTA, so flash H915 KDZ), H915, H918.

Had a look at the above link and have got the following compatibility
GSM: 2G, 2.5G 100% (2/2)
UMTS: 3G, 3.5G, 3.5G (4G speed) 100% (2/2)
LTE: 4G 75% (3/4)
So I'm chuffed especially after reading this concerning the band/frequency I'm missing...
2.6GHz frequency band
The 2.6GHz band is the other frequency which was auctioned by Ofcom and it’s essentially the opposite of the 800MHz band. So it’s not great at travelling over long distances, meaning that masts need to be closer together to deliver reliable coverage and as such it’s not so suited to rural areas.
It’s also not all that adept at penetrating walls so indoor signal on the 2.6GHz band won’t always be perfect.
But on the other hand with 35MHz blocks available it has a high capacity. So it can cope with thousands of simultaneous connections, which in that sense makes it a good fit for cities and other busy areas.

I ordered the phone and hope to get it in the next couple of weeks and I will post back my experiences. I ended up getting it at a good price too

The only thing you need to be aware that the VS995 will not pick up the SIM APNs automatically, at least that is what I found, so you will need to find the APN for whichever network you use. There are off-line APN finders you can find via Google. Hope this is of some help.

Out of curiousity were you able to update from Nougat to Oreo? I had a quick preliminary look and didn't see any straightforward method via official channels.

No, very few American V20 users have been able to update to Oreo as the providers have not released Oreo for the phone. To keep ahead with security updates I use a custom Rom on my V20 (Alpha Rom ) but you need to have the Bootloader unlocked and the phone rooted to use it. Hope this offers some clarity.

Will probably stick with the stock ROM for a while until I'm settled in with the phone. Has choosing the Alpha rom negatively affected the performance of the camera or sound quality at all?
Some of the reasons for getting this phone is the renowned DAC and the camera esp in manual mode (apparently auto could be disappointing).

No negative affects. Alpha Rom is actually based on the last stock Rom from Verizon with some modifications.

Just looked at the delivery estimate and it was anywhere between Sept 4th and October??th and it was ordered about 10 days ago. I guess it's to be expected coming from Hong Kong.

Well picked up my new V20 VS995 today and before I launch myself head long into customising it I've posted some questions in the main thread here I would really appreciate any help you might be able to give. I was going to post it here but I thought that would be unfair to load you with a barrage of questions.
The whole process seems so much more complicated than with my Note 4 and I there is a lot less handholding esp with the AΩ ROM'S initial post. For a relative novice it seems an absolute minefield.
