Droid Turbo 2 / Moto X Force: Can additional bands be activated or unblocked? - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Obviously the Turbo 2 has very limited bands. Can the phones be made more carrier friendly?

although i believe this question should be in the questions section the phone is already unlocked if you pick a carrier that also uses:
700 (band 13), 850 (band 5), 1700/2100 (band 4), 1800 (band 3), 1900 (band 2), 2600 (band 7) MHz
So for example it would work on Tmobile which uses :
LTE Frequencies:
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
Lower 700 MHz band 12 (in development) / in service in selected areas

You need the Moto X Force XT1580, which is the "international" version of the Droid Turbo 2. Has many more LTE bands (except LTE band 13) and is completely unlocked.

XDA member @ Jaocagomez will help you get one if you live in U.S./Canada (and other countries) where XT1580 is not released.

aha! I already bought a "international version" which named MOTO X FORCE from UK market. Hope this version can support 2G/3G/4G LTE in China.

I am here to say no according office spec, for XT1580, XT1581 is China version with band/38/39/40/41, especially for CMCC B39,
if you are CU or CT users, seens you can use band1/3.
if we have enough qcn files corrected for all XT1585 XT1581 XT1580, it is possible to bring some more bands to devices with RF front end hardware ready to go.
like I did on MOTO nexus 6 XT1103,XT1100,
can you share me your XT1580 qcn backup, promise will remove your personal info,
what i need is just RF front end info. [email protected]

In dfs tools there is an option to unlock lte bands will it unlock all band like band 40&5 ?? I think Motorola lock down these bands by software ??

1.83 Data Speed Reporting

Now that the official patch is rolling out or leaked or whatever you want to call it, I figured it would be appropriate to start this.
Just post some results from speedtest.net and your location, as well as the network type it declares you being connected to in the test result (HSPA, HSPDA, etc). Remember, experiments aren't accurate unless you have multiple trials ;D
Here's mine:
Location: Portland, OR
Before update on HSPDA:

After update:
Networks on after update tests:

I also did some testing with mobile hotspot enabled doing speakeasy on my Cr48:
Down Up

3351 788
801 783
556 207
2321 150
299 381
435 389
There's definitely an improvement over wireless, but it still is a bit inconsistent at times. There must be some bug with mobile hotspot or something though, cause those are pretty gross fluctuations :<
These were all done at my home, so I'll try and test it out in some other locations in a bit.
Does your *#*#4636#*#* under phone info and data say HSPA?
Because Im on 1.83 and it says HSDPA
Hey KF, what screen shot app are you using?
Yep, it's HSPA. Perhaps they simply don't have HSPA in your area? Now that I review the Speedtest results however, I'm noticing that the data type switched between HSPA and "UMTS".
In order with my second set of results:

I'm just using the "Screen Grabber" that the guy made for the Atrix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009451
I had flashed the HSPA mod on 1.57 and it worked so maybe I need to reflash to stock and wait for the OTA one

Off topic, but thanks for that! I'm what you could call a rookie as can't sideload yet.
You should be able to install it via adb and it should work just fine
I noticed that for some reason the server had defaulted to Idaho, so here are some more results from a Portland server:

You know, this is such a sad way to serve their consumers, directly messing with the single most important factor that enriches user experience. When speeds drops like that and latency spikes, QoS is severly degraded, and after the update that should fix the issue, AT&T is of course not even addressing HSUPA... Makes me question if it's worth buying such a powerful phone knowing the network is completely managed by losers...
Here is what iPhone 4 users with non HSPA+ phones get regularly in NYC
Yikes, the Atrix and ATT have some serious catching up to do!
The only reason I came back to At&t was this phone. Probably should have stuck with Verizon...

AWS Capable?

I've tried to look this up however so far I've seen mixed results.
Is the Verizon variant of the LG G2 AWS able to utilize the AWS spectrum which Verizon is beginning to activate across the USA?
I am trying to find out as well. Specs for the VZW version do not say this device supports band 4 which is where VZW has their AWS spectrum.
I have a family member who works in VZW and he's going to have his"Device Guy" check and let me know.
It may have it, since the GSM model does, and the suspected Nexus 5 passed through FCC with support for band 4, even though it didn't have 7 (VZW LTE)

If phonescoop is correct, it says it does have the ban IV 1700 just like the note 3 and the S4 have.

Yea, I saw that as well however it's the only website that mentions this. Even the specs on Verizon's website don't mention anything....
Is there a way to check the LTE bands on a phone via an app, (secret) menu or something?
from what I read is only those that are in the AWS area's like new york can check to find out. its the method the signal of the phone connects to the AWS tower. one guy posted that on his iphone that it changing as in the picture provided but I am not sure if about phone will give that level of detail about connection with a tower. see image

[Q] Where to buy one that works in my country?

Hello, dear XDA citizens.
I had been a happy user of my HTC Desire since July 2010 when I bought it. Unfortunately, it recently started randomly losing signal, with the same ROM version I’ve been using for a while, so that means it’s time for an upgrade.
The problem I find with current options, it’s that there are no longer phones anywhere!!! More specifically, I can only see 5"+ phablets (don’t call them phones, please, at that size they no longer start being just that), which are really not what I want. I want something I can comfortably hold in one hand when vertical, that is, 4.3" minimum, 4.7" maximum... or at least that’s what I thought, until I heard of the LG G2 one-hand operations option. I’m not sure yet this option is available to AOSP or any ROM that might currently be developed for the phone, but it makes a whole difference for me, so much that it makes me skip my self-imposed maximum-screen-size ban. You’ve gotta hand it to LG, they understand exactly this predicament.
As for other features, I’d like it with LTE; my operator in Colombia says they support Band 4 - AWS, and 1900MHz for HSPA+. I’ve been away quite a while, so I’m no longer savvy, but I’ve read some articles about LTE for my operator, and while they say AWS, they also say, for example, they acquired the 1700MHz/2100MHz spectrum, or that the Nokia Lumia 920 (model RM-820 only) works. Those are some details that perhaps can help you help me assert if my choice is right. Oh, 16GB or 32GB is alright for me. Never used more than 6GB myself.
Question is: do you know where can I buy one that fits those specifications? Please paste links that you trust and recommend. It doesn’t matter if I have to “import” it, since I have relatives living in United States which luckyly will come by new year’s eve, so hopefully I can just pay the phone itself and be done with it.
I think that’d be all.
Thanks again for your support!
My international D802 doesn't support band 4 as I read the box , see the attached photo.

Oh, man, I knew it.
Looks like I need a U.S.A. AT&T-compatible phone, which are the ones I see share the 1700/2100 frecuencies. Bummer. Question, for those in United States: can I buy an AT&T-bands-compatible phone without an actual plan? In Amazon looks like I can, but I want to be sure.
Thanks for the information!
PS: The company says something like:
HSPA+, 23/10/2011, Tigo commercially launched 4G service using HSPA+, with 4 Mbps average speed at 1900 Mhz band...

Since I would at least have HDSPA+, although it was implemented two years ago already, according to that, do you think I would still be able to squeeze the phone value two years from now at least? Thanks!

Enable LTE Bands G900F S5

Hi all,
I've searched high and low for any answers to solve my question about enabling more LTE bands on my S5 G900F. I came from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059. There is one person who claims that they enabled all the bands on their G900F.
I've followed the tutorial to a T and I have written the proper NV memory values and it doesn't not revert to the original. However I still cannot access the band on the phone. Is this even possible or is this just a bunch of hooy? If it is possible I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction or let me know if there is anything else I need to do to enable another band. (Its LTE AWS band BTW)
Thanks all
IMHO the network bands isn't only software related. There's also the the SoC that would support the decoding of the frequencies and the radio that could receive the frequency.
Enabling it software wise is just telling the SoC that the radio can recieve the said bands but in reality it still won't. The guide in that thread is salvaged from the Xperia thread which has a global radio chip from all of their models so it's easy to unlock additional bands software wise. As for the galaxy s5 I don't know but if it's radio chip doesn't support a specific LTE band then it won't unless you physically replace it.
This is the original thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269
What you're trying to do here right now is like trying to enable AM frequencies on a FM Radio.
Thanks. I was afraid that this would be the case. I bought an international phone without paying attention to which bands were supported on the phone and which bands are in my area. I think I get the next highest speed available, I just see H+ which is HSPA+ but I'm not quite sure.
Just sucks lol
I just wanted to come back and let everyone know that the guide did in fact work. I don't know why it didn't right away. I left my phone off for a few weeks and when I came back I had LTE. Again that was for Lte band 4.

Add B20 800Mhz on nubia z17 mini

Hi all, I just had a Nubia Z17 mini come from China. I have nothing to reproach him if it is not to this famous B20 of the 800Mhz necessary to capture the 4g. I made a little bit of work and I'm at the point where I need a little helping hand. I do not even know if I'm in the right ... That's where I am for the moment: I root the nubia and i installed Network Signal Guru and chipped a bit. In the settings I managed to add to the band B20 in the LTE section that I find the sequel in the list of frequencies that can be disabled (lock band). My concern is that my GSM does not hook this ******* B20 even by locking all the others. Do I get it right or not? Anyone more smart than me like to help me? Thank you in advance ans sorry for m'y pour english.
Hi bro, how you install network signal guru?
Did you manage to add B20 band? I would like to have it on Z17 Lite..
Hello,
I got b20 in my Nubia z17 mini bought in china after signal guru etc.
The question is that the modem support that band but this model hasn't the antenna for that band, so you can activate it but you don't get coverage.

Are you sure that we don't have any antenna for B20?
The phone supports 850 and 900 MHz bands, which is not that far from 800 MHz...it could catch at least weak 800 MHz signal, right?
This is the answer I got from another forum.

Hmm, still better poor LTE signal than 2G/edge....
Hi,
There are a chance to unlock the B28 band (700Mhz), Guys?
Ask, because I do not know if the z17 mini has the right antenna to receive the band B28, because here in Brazil, this band is adopted by many cellular operators to transmit the signal 4,5G...
Thanks 4 help.
Regards.
