Issues with Cyanogenmod?? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I'm going to install cyanogenmod 12.1 unofficial on my Samsung galaxy note 3 SM-N900 I would like to know what are the issues after installing this rom.
Because I got some issues that mobile data doesn't seems to work on this rom.
Main Question--
WHAT ARE THE ISSUES WITH CYANOGENMOD 12.1 [UNOFFICIAL ] NOTE 3 SM-N900??

Too many to list.
But some are:
- Degradation in camera photo quality.
- Call quality is not as good as stock TW ROMs.
- Battery backup not as good as TW ROMs.
- No display profiles to choose from (Cinema, Professional etc.)
- S Pen will mostly become a gadget to scratch your ears.
- Some TW based apps won't function, obviously.

Unless it's an Official Stable or Snapshot release, there'll be issues..

- Degradation in camera photo quality.
Not here.
- Call quality is not as good as stock TW ROMs.
Sad but true.
- Battery backup not as good as TW ROMs.
Not here. It's even better for me.
- No display profiles to choose from (Cinema, Professional etc.)
They exist, but not as user friendly as in TW. But who needs that stuff??
- S Pen will mostly become a gadget to scratch your ears.
Not really. It works fine, you just need "CM SPen Add-on" "Note Buddy" and "Squid"
- Some TW based apps won't function, obviously.
And this is a problem? ^^

Me, and a plenty other people who care about Display. Note 3 has a great panel and its even better with Cinema profile, because that's the most perfect saturated one, over their Adaptive and obviously God awful Dynamic mode.
One of the biggest advantage of this phone over even newer ones (non Samsung) is the display, and if one takes away that, then I am sorry to say I don't see any point of this phone. I would rather go for an awful quality LG flagship then

Arguing with a twlover is pointless.
I suggest you read the thread of the rom you want to flash. And see what users report of bugs.
Or just try it and see it yourself.

Not a TW Lover, but a fact teller. And even if I were a TW Lover, its still better than a Cyanogen troll.

OK, an back to normal language please! The panel has it's pros and cons. Pentile matrix is nothing if you need a crisp ans sharp display of fonts or for Google Cardboard, but AMOLED has a wonderful black of course. Both is the case for TW AND CM and both won't decrease the pros and cons of the panel. And as I said, color profiles are in CM, too. I never needed em before, but for ppl who need it, you can find em in there.

That profile is nowhere near of preset Samsung profiles! I have used CM, tried that option, so please be informed about that.
As I said, if one prefers to use overblown colours then go for CM, but for me, its a nightmare, period.
I don't really know what's wrong with Cyanogen users, or fans I should say! They talk like its perfect! LOL! At least I can strongly say that TouhchWiz lags, from time to time, but Cyanogen fans don't even have the minimum decency of accepting the facts!

Battle of the MIUI roms!

So now we have several MIUI roms for N1 but which one is the best?
Stability,performance,packed goodies....
Which MIUI is the best and why for you?
Why is MIUI so special? Just go buy an iPhone, it's kind the same... Really, I don't find anything special but heavy modded graphics. What do you use MIUI features for?
It's simply the fastest roms for N1, the menus just fly
I find Enomther's really fast.

Maybe some would love the UI but hate the OS?
I have seen some people adding WP7 UI like into Galaxy S. All these just show how flexible Android can be.
That's true, but being like that, someone could just create a iPhone-like launcher touching nothing else.
If you keep using the MIUI stock Launcher than yes it looks like a far family member of iphone, but if you use the exellent ADW you gain the extra speed from MIUI + some goodies like the Themes while having an Android UI
CM7 is also very fast but unstable for me whatever is the build: dead touchscreen when calling could happen any time

I hate people who attempt to re-create WP7's UI on Android. There is no way you can properly emulate the simplicity and beauty of WP7 with static blue icons. MIUI may try to copy the iPhone over to Android, but even then you have to remember it is simply a User Interface. Android is still under there, not iOS. Everyone knows out off all the major mobile operating systems Android lacks in the UI department (opinion, of course).
And MIUI attempts to remedy that problem.
i tested [ROM] Miui-AU ROM (english/german) but it isn't that fast.
The Launcher ist laggy (compared to GO or LP) and no scrollable widgets...
i know you can use a different launcher, but then i dont need MIUI...
I just want to recall that this topic is about which MIUI is the best, not if MIUI is good or not...
Ive been using Eveek's eMIUI for a while. I reckon its the best one out of the lot simply cos its the most stable version around.. Also Ive noticed this rom is near enough stock with very minor tweaks. Compare it to others they have heavily modded the stock version which wasnt to my liking!
i had no idea MIUI was so much faster. why is it faster? i only watched one video on MIUI and it was kinda cool but i never tried it out. am i missing something by not trying it?
MIUI is always ahead of the curve when it comes to design and innovation. It was the first with lockscreen music control, the first with power control in the notification bar, the first with a built in theme manager system (with an online data base for easy theme searching and downloading), the first with FM radio on the N1 etc. Not only did it do these things first, but it does them the best.
It has an absolutely gorgeous UI (hi-resolution icons, transitions, themes and menus that blow stock Android out of the water). It's fast and has amazing battery life. The folder system for App organization is light years ahead of the app drawer, which is archaic and inefficient. Also, the support for this ROM is amazing!
Let's get real, it takes some of the best elements of the iPhone UI (ex high resolution, unified icons) and combines it with everything great about Android. Those saying it's just trying o copy the iPhone are ignorant and should really just get their heads out of their asses.
Sure, it might not be for everyone but I would encourage people to try it first before they dismiss it. I was skeptical at first as well but I've been using it for months now and have no intentions of going back to anything else. I flashed CM7 to try out but it doesn't compare, that is my opinion.
And I would recommend getting the stock ROM from miui-dev.com just because the support for the stock ROM is so much better than the MIUI ROMs here. There is an online theme database that comes as an app with the ROM anyways, so you can change up the look very easily if you choose to do so.
ya you are missing out, it is highly optimized, solid fast, great battery life, weekly updates, everything makes sense..hence why cyanogen has borrowed some ideas/stuff. Most people just talk **** about miui cuz it looks iphonish, let them be nubs because from the ground up miui has alot more development and is way more advanced than alot of other roms out there, just my two cents but they are worth more than others
I'm not sure whenever I'd consider MIUI one step ahead the current UIs. I find no user friendly evolution, just reordered things. I mean, no intelligent way to launch an application (and no, gestures are NOT the way it will be as you have to remember the gesture), no "outstanding" graphics (I'm not impressed by them, not after 5 minutes handling it).
Is it fast? People in this thread have already replied: it's not fast, it may be faster than CM (which IMHO is getting too choppy due to too many under-the-hood things users are not interested in), but it's not faster than Enomther's, for example. No way.
Why is it followed then? Really simple: it's not the usual CM ROM. If only there was another launcher, people may not idolize this ROM. Kudos to the developers for developing it though, otherwise CM would be the (choppy) standard.

I well tested it as I pushed forward the italian translation, but I always been perplexed about its app management and launcher in general. Yes, I prefere the archaic and - IMHO - efficient current one. And no, there is not so much other code I'd import in any other ROM. From my point of view it's just a (shining?) iPhone UI with FM radio. Kudos for them releasing the radio part. That's all.

Can you give some examples of an intelligent way to launch an application? Just curious.
I'm partial to formel. He keeps up with the latest and its a one shot you're done rom. No need to fiddle with the language packs. I was using enom before which was a very good rom. I get similar batt with formel and the performance is a little smoother. I'm using adw as I'm not fond of the iphone layout anyways. IMO this is a good start for those that want to scope out miui and see what its about. Its pretty much bug free and stable for day to day use which for me is important. I need my phone to work.
I was an Enom fan too, complete rom and very stable but...you get tired pretty soon!
I used to play with Rodriguez's MIUI because it was full of goodies but God knows why he disapeared all of a sudden
Now I am trying Moviestar HD which seems stable but the Theme app can't apply themes downloaded even renamed into mtz, I heard MIUI-AU is the best on Desire but its adaptation on N1 is unstable
The themes work on formel except for the sms skinning. Dont believe that one is figured out yet. The rodriguez rom is good but is 3 releases back now and it has a fair few bugs I turned up in just a few days of usage. Overall the goodies didnt equal out to a newer and quite a bit more tuned up version of miui. I have not tried moviestar yet. Frankly I"m pretty happy with formel. It flat works.
I figured that I can use a custom theme via File Manager but sms app doesn't change like on Formel.
I think a newer theme app is available because it says so when I use it but when I try to download the link is not working!
I hope in next versions of Formel and Moviestar they will use the new fixed one, dunno about MIUI-AU

[Discussion]What and Why should we port from S3 {+ ported stuff}

Ok guys,
Samsung's new flagship, the Galaxy S III, was released yesterday.
As I saw the new UI my first thought was "I want this this and this for my S2!"
So what are your thoughts...
New TouchWiz?
Only the Lockscreen with App Shortcuts?
Only the "nature" animations?
Ported stuff (yet)
TouchWiz UX - Here
S-Voice (fixed = no build.prop needed!) - Here (Download)
Accu Weather Widget - Here (Download)
PopUp Play (just a solution) - Here
will add the remaining stuff later...
I kinda like the new touchwiz. Not sure if its out for the GS2 atm, but if it's not, I'm sure it will get ported back to the GS2 by a kind developer (maybe as a whole launcher).
All that nature stuff is bs. Who are they marketing for? 50 year old wemon?
I'd like the stay awake feature, perhaps the voice control for driving, seems a lot better than the current one.
Will add a poll later this Day...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Hehe, I was thinking of that kind of topic when I see yours
TW? Hum I'm not sure when you came from AOSP, pure Google experience that you want this
S-Blablabla? For example S-Voice: yes! All the S-blablabla are really interesting, the smartphone become really smart with these stuff, so I think this is where the S3 is great for us
If we can port these stuff, why should we buy a new S3? It only has a quadcore and à 720p Screen, and everybody knows that for the moment our Dualcore are correct...Until the S4
But another problem... the S3 has a bigger battery and I think the S-blabla can drain our battery really fast because they use the hardware (like the front cam) in background...So do we need a sort of S2 with S3 stuff but a dramatic battery life?
Id like a full port of everything lol
GOOGLE stuff r better then TW of SGS2 for ICS but not for GB (SAMSUNG adds so maney stuff that users that try AOSP allways ask why cant i find X and Y that i used to have in stock)
and now they done it again
the new TW looks better then GOOGLE stock and with TW stuff in it its better then the GOOGLE original
S-voice , TouchWiz Nature UX with all stuff and water-like lockscreen
p.s. - port of everything posible ))
I wouldnt have thought this would even need to be discussed, of course these bits and bobs are going to be ported to ROMS, shouldnt be too difficult either as its the same chipset, just another two cpu's strapped on.
What I am interested in with this Thread is, why people want especially "this" feature
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
For those who are disappointed because of the spec. I'd say just go away.
Samsung realized that pushing hardware is enough for android now( it's really useless since every phones from other market brings the similar specs.)
so put some great effort to bring out the best user experiences with all those new cool features.
I don't think we will be able to port any functionality but S voice since i heard it fetches data from server.
The whole ROM, the new TW is nice (i still dont like it much, but it's better than the GS2 one), i love all the new features especially stay awake function and the camera improvement.
If possible, I would like every new feature. (even the touchwiz ui)
but most of all the S voice to go hands free.
Touchwiz
The touchwiz looks way better than the one on the gs2. S voice functions not so much till it completely understand natural language. On the whole yeah pushing the specs not that high is a good move and better yet focus on their feel and look
I'm sick of everyone saying I want aosp or cm9 unless u can get all the neat touch wiz features on them ill take touchwiz anyday even the current one. I hope this gets ported to my s2.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using XDA
native, non-hacky exFAT.
S VOICE & the lockscreen. Other things are hardware related. Not expecting anything else

Effective use of SGS4

Hi guys. I am a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S4. I run the stock rom 4.3 rooted and don't use any launcher. I am overall very happy with TouchWiz and don't see why most people hate it. Anyway, somehow I feel that I don't take a full advantage of the phone. I use it to listen music, the calendar for events and tasks, playing some racing games, use some widgets for a quick info, watching videos on youtube, taking quick notes. I should say that I find most of the s apps useful, don't know why so many people are hating them. What is the reason? Also I will be interested in how you are using your s4
I truly dont understand the touchwiz hate either ... especially for those who have galaxy s line phones before ... If you don't like it why you bought it? Still touch wiz is a heavy skin but I don't actually feel that the phone is slow ... It s just feels slower than nexus and htc one because of its animations not because it's actually slow ... Still If your phone does without problems those things you expect it to do every day them you are using it effectively ... There is no reason of getting to take advantage all of its features of you don't actually need them

Speaking just for myself, I do not necessary dislike Touchwiz. However, I do not like the fact that through Touchwiz, Samsung has forced upon myself a myriad of what I (and many others) consider, bloatware. All the bloatware causes the device to function slower and be more laggy. Case and point, I had 4.2.2 on my S4 with most bloatware removed and it was snappy and responsive. I recently flashed 4.3 and it was sluggish to say the least. Then I proceeded to remove all the bloatware and after such, my device restore to the same level of snappiness.
What I suggest is to play around with camera. Just try every mode and know how it works and how to use it properly so you can get the best out of camera at the proper time in future.
Secondly get some nice HD games, Like Asphalt 8 (It is now free), Call of duty etc.
and if you like the multiplayer madness, I'd suggest Shadowgun:deadzone, Respawnables, Modern Combat 4 etc.
I'm planning to make a thread for making a clan/group of S4 users and rule one of those best multiplayer games.
Now i'm the stock rom after flashing dozin of custom rom. Non of custom rom is not as stable as stock rom.

Lets us know when get that thread up, I would like to join in the multiplayer madness:laugh:
The only reason I use TW is battery life and Camera software other than that I prefer AOSP. TW Dialer/Contact/Launcher make me headache. Of course I removed all SS Craps when I use TW fw. If the AOSP kitkat is stable I will switch in a heart beat.
i really like TW and i agree that many S apps are really good.I am sticking with TW till cyan will come with 4.4

I use my S4 for listening to music (emphasis on this haha), use the camera a lot, play some games, watch some videos and as a "media controller/server" (along with my other two tablets and TV). Also I navigate in the internet a lot and use Tapatalk a lot too. I have dual-booted it, so I have all the benefits from TW on it and when I get bored I can go back to AOSP, which is another ROM I really like. I owned a X10 Mini Pro before S4, so I didn't really know what was a fast phone. But I had a Motorola Xoom, so that was my comparing parameter, and as I was used to AOSP on it I felt the need of installing on S4 too. And by the same time I got a S4 I got a Nexus 10, so AOSP was even better for me by then!
It was just a matter of opinion, I really like the AOSP ROM, as it comes with almost zero things and is way lighter than TW, but if you're happy with TW you should have no worries on keeping it. Here's a small pros and cons by me:
Touchwiz
Pros:
HD Icons
Samsung apps
Group Play
More S4-friendly settings
More customization options
Cons:
Slower than AOSP
Many of Samsung apps are bloatware
If badly set up battery drains way faster
Part of the interface looks childish

AOSP:
Pros:
Faster
Lighter
Less bloatware
More System space
Simpler

Cons:
Doesn't have S4 "signature" features
Less customization options
Icons doesn't have the same resolution as on TW

I'm on the TW bandwagon.
What I like:
- Native Facebook syncing,
- AirView handy for quick previews on emails and SMS,
- AirView in stock music player, hover over to see full titles, hover over previous and forward to see track,
- Adapt Sound - makes music louder, also in the phone app, 4 different options, and a button to make it even louder in very noisy situations, useful,
- Camera, many modes and options, unlike AOSP, Samsung & HTC etc implement burst mode, useful,
- S Planner - I like it, better than AOSP Calender, again ties in with native Facebook syncing, when it's mates birthday S Planner allows me to post on their walls,
- Notification toggles, AOSP you have to 2 finger slide for toggles, TW is always their and useful, built in natively yes there are apps that can replicate this,
- Not a TW thing but IR, useful, like having one remote for all your devices, pair it with Smart IR app and you've got a harmony all in one plus more,
- Gestures, I use the quick wave over the phone to see time and if I have had any notifications, and also the call one were you can wave your hand to answer, useful when my hands are dirty etc,
Some features are useful and having somethings built in natively is also useful.
Thing's I don't like:
- The look, it's dated and needs a revamp, Samsung have said they are going to focus on software so things can only improve,
- Not as smooth or fast as AOSP, again due to the bloatware etc but it's not bad at all, Nexus devices are fantastic and feel fast and fluid in comparison, hopefully 4.4 will improve on things,
Other than that I am still happy with my S4 rooted running Omega 4.3. I had the N5 but kept my S4 as I couldn't see the point in changing so soon, may as well wait until next year and see what else crops up and hopefully further software updates improve on the user experience further more.

Discussion - What ROM Features You Prefer To See ? - LP 5.1

Hello everyone,
I'm cooking a good taste ROM, but i don't like to make a " known " ROM features, with nothing new .
So, what do you prefer to see in a Custom ROM for Lollipop 5.1 for our beloved Xperia Z1 ?
good job bro in your upcoming rom realize I wish a rom with new Sony concept with 4K record a good sound mod. battery also the main problem in lollipop roms, no roms now Can compare with kitkat screen time anyway brother every one has a different wishes so I hope you wont be confused with people's complaints and questions
Good Job
double tap to wake, good sound mod and 4k video recording.
1. 300% total blacked out lollipop 5.1.1. firmware.
Yes, I supercalifragilisticexpialidociously hate the constantly changing colors. Don't get me wrong, the matte look is what I like, which is why I have 2 motorcycles that are both matte black colored, but this chameleon thing is just.... @#$%^&*() !!!!
2. Put back the original Sony Walkman logo & app please, same look (but blacked out), same feel, same menu/configuration screens/options BUT with a much louder audio output that doesn't break the audio quality when the volume is cranked up.
3. Highly, extremely debloated right off the bat but fully functional smartphone. Please have a look at this.
4. No added "Settings" on the Settings page.
5. No modified About phone page.
I honestly do not know if this is possible. You can have the Developer option already listed in the Settings page, but on the About phone page, at the bottom where is says Build number. Turn that into an option so when tapped on, the it opens another page with all the About ROM, About Kernel, About Author, About etc., put on for custom firmwares. So in that way it looks like a stock and official Sony firmware, but it really isn't.
6. Native double tap to wake and double tap to sleep function
7. Time lapse
Not a fan of 4K recording too because it eats too much space, not all phone can readily watch 4K recordings yet. Same with TV sets unless your the ultra rich or you always have to have the newest TV set that has 4K option on it.
8. Manual Camera controls like that of DSLR
Off course it still won't compare to the real DSLR cameras but to at least have a much better control over the camera would be nice.
8. Full screen contacts picture
9. Child lock
I don't know if you can ever call it native or embedded, but a child lock that isn't a 3rd party app I guess would be nice.
10. App lock
Like that of Clean master. Also same with #9. I don't know if you can ever call it native or embedded, but a non-3rd party app too.
A highly debloated ROM with a good sound mod and some screen saturation controls along with better battery tweaks and double tap to wake.
Sony concept OS in our device would be superb.
Full layers compatibility would be great too.
Sent from the future.
im a big fan of customization, so hopefully there is some difference.
Do you mind with a ROM size 1.6GB ?
Offcourse the actual ROM isn't 1.6 it's a light ROM, but with Mods selection and Aroma it's 1.6GB .
So you can control the ROMs Mods not the opposite.

@abo hani - suggestion if you don't mind: put up a poll if people would like Sony Stock or AOSP. And oh, yeah I'm reading more and more about layers - I like the total black out it's giving at least on the screenshots shown in Google Play store. If layers will keep the customization-friendliness going but maintaining the debloated-ness (if even remotely possible) that would be cool.

Stock offcourse, i'm not seeing " awesome " stock ROMs, every dev is putting random Mods, and i've tested most of the ROMs, they are not good as expected .

I'm gonna develop a stock based ROM, AOSP ROMs are not in my developing region, if you mean " dark / light " apps, yeah .. i'm gonna put them and believe me, the users gonna control the ROM features in every way, so you gonna feel like a ROM dev when you put your own customization .

I Will.
@abo hani if you can add these too to your list it would be awesome: Battery Life, atleast a average day's use like 6+ SOT should be good.... Awesome sound experience, i am not saying stereo mod, Just a lot louder than stock and good clear audio... Camera mods would be good, even some third party camera apps, if they really improve the performance...
Last of all and most important, it would be good if it is a UltraSlim version of stock, like just OS with fully operational phone... And if needed add the rest as add-ons... I would prefer to have the mods implemented directly than using Xposed...
That's all.... That should be perfect.... I am not asking for an ETA (You can just skip it if you want to) but when you are planning to start it?? (Just Curious)
Are you going to use a existing kernel or you are cooking a new one for your rom??(Again Just Curious)

Kernel, i will put an option, i won't force the user to use a kernel, you can either use the kernel in options or the current one.
for ETA, i've already designed the banners & logos .. and put the plan for it, gonna start tonight
You won't be disappointed
Please take a look at the system UI icons. The mobile signal and the battery icon are too far away from each other, it makes our status bar very ugly IMHO.

The ROM isn't posted yet, but as he's going to make a stock based, so I'm already making that suggestion.

Thumbs-up!
So excited?????

What ROM based on these features?

EDIT: So, given that no Oreo/Pie ROM can match the TouchWiz features below, serious question: Why in the world does everyone prefer vanilla Android? I don't want to have to find 10 apps with extra steps just to replace system-level features of a skinned ROM. So vanilla Android honestly makes no sense to me.

I'm the rare N7 TW holdout. I LIKE TouchWiz, particularly Note 7 ports, where I guess they called it Samsung Experience.
But I can't stay on Marshmallow forever.
For Oreo/Pie/10 ROMs, what ROM has the below features? Or what's the easiest way to replace them?
Call recording built into the Dialer/In-Call UI
Scroll Capture (vertically scrolling screenshots)
SNote-type note app (seriously, the font choices, point size, text frames, etc. make it tough to beat)
RELIABLE SIM (since all newer N4 ROMs seem to have SIM death)
Robust photo editing built into the Gallery
ETA: The clipboard.
Probably more, but if someone knows how to replace those as close to system level as possible, I'd probably go that route. Thank you for any feedback!
The best replacement for snote seems to be squid, but some things there cost $.
FYI I am also on the same boat, but I'll be holding out on marshmallow for since time longer.

I'm also partial to TW but have been using some open source pie roms lately and for the most part I don't miss much about TouchWiz. The spen is the biggest cost for me personally. I had never tried squid before but I just installed it and my initial impression is favorable to some others I've tried. Spen commander works well for some people and I like Evernote as well but so far nothing they all lack the integration and intuition of the stock spen features and due to the proprietary nature of it there's a chance that won't get much better.
Due to the extra steps required I haven't even been using the spen with those roms since the convenience of it just isn't the same. Also, scroll capture fits in the same boat. There are apps to replace that function but it's certainly not as convenient as just using the spen.
Everything else, from my point of view, works well. The camera does fail every once in awhile. It's not often but often enough to be aggravating depending on your usage.
Looking through most of those rom threads you'll see plenty of people claiming that those roms are as reliable as stock or that all/most stock functions can be replaced but that's just not been my experience. However, there are plenty of things that I do like about the newer OS's and the reliability gap isn't as big as I assumed it was going to be. They're certainly prettier than 6.0.1.

All great to know.
Funny to hear YOU say it, though. I'm feeling a bit starstruck to see your reply. You're one of the reasons I've stuck with TW! Flashpoint's nonnegotiable for every TW ROM. Thank you for your great work!
