A Question: Getting used to this phone after Note Edge. What i really miss... - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

the only application i miss from the Note Edge is the function to receive notifications, select apps, receive phone calls, forward/reverse music on edge so it doesn't disturb whatever ive been doing on the main screen.
has this function been added to s6 edge plus yet? or will it never be?

I don't have too much experience with the Note edge, but it's edge is bigger than the S6. There's simply more room for that. Not so much on the S6 edge.

{Help} Confused between Note 4, Note 4 Edge and S6 Edge.

After S6 Edge announcement and watching videos I am too much confused between Note 4, Note 4 Edge and S6 Edge.
What i like about Note 4 is 5.7" Screen and clearity of camera, Multitasking While in note Edge i like the Edge features so I was confused in between this two devices but after S6 Edge announcement i am going crazy as i am not able to decide which should i buy. I like the S6 Edge features like People Edge Contacts, Dual Edge, It's look and Notification animation it's very cool but it also have some demerits like Non removable Battery, Non Expandable Memory, No proper usage of Dual Edge Screen because of small 5.1 inch screen. So plz help me to decide which one to nuy. If you were in my position then what you would have buy ???.
I want to buy anyone from the above devices so i can start making My Previously made Black Metallic Theme for my New Device...

Poll have been added which will help me to decide
I'd wait for the Note 5 release. That way you'll get the new s6 features as well as the big display with the curve on the edges.
For this moment note4 with Exynos. May be note 5 at the end of the year. Note edge and s6 edge are very dificult to protect.
Get the note 4. Really cannot go wrong with this phone even now, with the sterling battery life and that screen. Lollipop will show up eventually and it will only enhance the note. Sure enough s6 looks good, but its a first generation product where i am concerned and a bit of a hail mary. It's the first time they have gone all in with their own processors and lack of expansible storage and removable batteries, eschewing that for a wonderful design.
The note 4 has both of the above, sterling build quality, the current best screen on the market ( i got both the nexus 6 and 6 plus and believe me only iphone even comes close in fidelty), all around great shooter and wonderful battery life.
As much as i admire the s6, i think its one product to sit out until they get it better next year. Golden rule... never buy a first gen product.

If you must absolutely get a samsung device, get the S6 edge.
There is currently little-to-no support for the Note4
How do you define support? I'm never going to catch up with all the threads in this forum for the T-Mobile one alone, much less Note 4 in general. There's certainly development happening.
----
I was going between the Note 4 and Note Edge and while I was realllllllly hoping the Edge would come down a bit in price, it's clear that T-Mobile has a high opinion of its flagship and isn't coming down any time soon. I sprung for the Note 4.
I hadn't even heard of the S6 or S6 Edge until after the 4 had arrived at my door. Now that I have, I see they don't have an S-pen.
It's not my whole existence but I do send enough text from my phone that I really do benefit from a thick, heavy, slide-out keyboard. I'm not one to carry a bluetooth KB around either, so I really wanted a phone with an integral hardware KB. Nobody makes a decent one any more: the MyTouch 4G Slide was better specced than the current LG slider they offer, and coming off of that phone, I wasn't about to pay for the LG and get worse hardware, and none of the other carriers offered attractive options.
I can write about as fast as I was able to type on a phone keyboard, so I decided the next best option was a pen. The Note 3 would have been more affordable, but still more than double what we paid for my MyTouch 4G Slide, so considering the cost, I decided to go all in and get the better hardware of the Note 4. Again, wanted the Edge, but the additional nearly-$150-or-so was a major turn-off for nearly identical hardware.
Aside from stock twitch-whiz interface and bloatware apps, I'm pleased with it and the handwriting recognition does pretty well for me.
I hate Samsung devices, though. Mainly because of twitch-whiz, to be fair.

question for those who had the note edge

I have had the note edge since launch and looking at upgrading to the edge+. I can live without the S pen il honestly miss it maybe 20 mins a year. The one reason I have been holding back on the upgrade is my favorite features of the note edge is notifications on the edge. What I mean is when I am browsing the net and get a phone call or text it just pops up on the edge and not the whole screen allowing me to reject it using the edge and not interrupt what I am doing. My understanding this feature is not there on the edge+ out of the box and curious to know if there is a way I can add it after the fact thru an app or other means.

No, you can't. It's completely different from the Note Edge (which was my FAVORITE phone, ever) but I have come to love the Edge+ so much that I don't care. The phone is simply a beast and performs so well I can live without that feature.

In Note 4 Edge, both the displays were separate ( they made it work together). In Edge+, its integrated. So, you won't get all the features of Note 4 Edge. But as the post above mine says, this phone is a beast!

Why I keep picking up my note 4.

Well managed to get the edge on the cheap. Got myself a 64 gb which would be enough for my games, music etc. I also ran antutu and it scored over 70k. However my note 4 only scores 55k maximum but tell you what the note 4 still feels faster and more solid in terms of performances and I cannot work out why most think the edge is faster. I don't know whether it's because I have used the note 4 for a while but I just keep picking up the note and leaving the edge. Even when using apps like talon forfor twitter. The note 4 appears more fluid than the edge, anyone else experience the same?. I am however not bashing the edge as the design is indeed special.
I have never used a note device but the screen is too big for my taste and i dont feel like holding a smaller tablet to my head as i talk on my phone.
But if i used the device i would enjoy se of the features alot but i can do withoit them and i do have to admit the s6 edge was not and is not what i expected but it is at least close. I did complain to samsung that i was dissapointed that there was no multiwindow edge functionality lile the note edge and then they came out with app edge so i see they are trying but it still isnt good enough.
I still love using my s6 edge and wont get rid of it any time soon. Sorry for the random rambling.

I had a couple Note 4s. They were misearably laggy. I find the S6 Edge to be way quicker.
I wonder why you are comparing S6 Edge with Note 4.
S6 Edge definitely powerful than Note 4.
I felt Note 5 little faster than S6 Edge.
(I have S3,S4,Note 4 and Note 5 at home)
I've got note Edge and it was definitely less powerful and slower than S6 Edge. Most noticeably think that drive me crazy in Note is recent apps manager. For me to open it i must wait about 2-3 seconds. I am very happy with my s6 edge and will never come back to note

Who has moved from a S6 Edge+ Plus to S7 Edge?

should I upgrade to this from Galaxy S6 Edge+ Plus or nah?
I am also in the same boat!!
Preordered s7 edge but cancelled it after getting MM on my s6 edge plus. Not able to convince my self the price difference I have to spend for features (water proof, sdcard) which are not deal breakers. Camera is not big but considerable improvement but not worth the difference. Battery life also not a huge bump from the results I have been seeing here. I am getting solid full day and 4-5 hrs SOT with heavy usage on s6 edge+
I am skipping as of now

Yeah when i get MM update to my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus then it could look the same as S7, its only water proof and SD card. Camera mostly the same i think.
Looks like your right.
you waiting for Galaxy S8 Edge?

Yes, or maybe Note 6... definitely not S7 edge

There's just not a big enough bump to justify it.
Not on the S6 Edge+ but on the S6 Edge. Debating if I should still get it. (Only if I can get it unlocked from Verizon if I ever plan to switch to T-Mobile like this link says: http://www.sammobile.com/2016/02/25...-will-carrier-lock-to-the-first-inserted-sim/)

UK shop has unlocked galaxy S7 from carphone warehouse, i don't understand why US locked the bootloader.
I wouldn't jump if I had a s6+ edge... I'm coming from Note Edge (note 4) so it will be a big jump for me. How long of a time gap between S6+ and S7?

Carrier locked is different from locked bootloader :good:
I also didn't want to upgrade to S7 edge after I tried it in Samsung store yesterday.. I have felt more comfortable to use S6 edge+ than S7 edge and only minor upgrade in terms of hardware (water resistant, micro SD, 20% larger battery). I am going to keep my S6 edge+ until 2017.

S6 edge+ together with Note 5 were released on August 2015 and S7 with S7 edge were on February 2016.
I got the s6 edge+ in September of last year and just got my s7 edge on the 3rd. The extra storage space is great because the 25 with the s6 wasnt ever enough. The camera is amazing more than incremental upgrade. It is slightly heavier but feels better in one hand since the back is rounded. The edge screen has also been updated for better functionality. I am glad to have upgraded.
since I go to the beach a lot water resistant is a plus for me. i might upgrade or just wait till the note 6 comes out which im sure it will be water resistant too
battery test Review show Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ Plus battery last longer then Galaxy S7 Edge battery!
so Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has a longer battery life then Galaxy S7 Edge.
Even Galaxy S7 Edge battery is bigger on paper. (spec sheet).
Real life test show the performance are about the same when opening app's.
Web browser about the same aswell. not a big difference.
in games Galaxy S7 is 1 second faster or same as Galaxy S6 Edge+.
Camera is about the same aswell. not big difference.
you only need Galaxy S7 if you walking alot and it could rain anytime. or if your working out doors.
or Installing alot of games, movies, MP3 files.
Not really worth it otherwise.

Note 5 has same spec's as (Galaxy S6 Edge Plus) Vs Galaxy S7 Edge Speed test.
this is bad news for the new phones coming out. performance is same or Half a second difference.
I'll be posting a comparison shortly but I have both of them here and I've been testing a bit.
Few notes:
- The s7 edge seems a bit faster overall but has some weird lag spikes once in a while that were not present on s6 edge+
- Overall the s7 camera does seem superior, in a few daylight instances you can notice lack of detail but overall the contrast and colors are far better
- App launch speed seems the same, but the s6 edge+ sometimes beats out my s7 edge
- Webpage loading: same results as the app launching, sometimes the edge+ beats out the s7 edge
- Display: The color calibration on these 2 devices are pretty different, I feel like the colors are better on my s7 edge but the viewing angles are worse, with a green tint becoming noticeable > 40 degrees
- Battery Testing: I'm only on day 2 so I can't comment much on the s7 edge battery. I ran some benchmarks and found the s6 edge+ and s7 edge are near identical with video and web browsing battery performance. However, when it comes to gaming/3d rendering, there is a major difference. The s6 edge+ was draining 5x as fast as the s7.
My s7 edge is SD820 variant on Verizon.

you have SnapDragon 820 chipset? i heard battery is less then galaxy S6 Edge+ Plus.
Exynos 8890 should be better for battery life.

I've heard the same too. I'm interested to see some tests/see if there could be a fix for this "android system bug".
But in terms of day to day usage they seem identical in battery right now. Doze doesn't seem to work with AoD either, I lost 10% battery over the night. ugh. That said, I'm pretty disappointed in the battery performance, I'm hoping a future update could address some of the issues. Surely a 3600mAh should be getting more than 3.5 hours SoT.

link below shows the galaxy S7 battery which is sad when looking at the Galaxy S7/edge snapdragon 820 compared to the rest of the flagship devices.

I am fortunate enough to be in possession of both the S6 Edge+ and the S7 Edge. One of my contracts was eligible for an upgrade so I got one with a possibility to change my phone.
After 3 days fair use I have decided to keep the S6 Edge+
As gorgeous as the S7 Edge is - and I mean that, there is something not quite right and I can't put my finger on it. When I pick up my S6 Edge+ it just feels better, more premium even.
The S7 is an upgrade but it's a minor one. It has a better battery and faster charging which is a good thing. It takes better low light photos but the overall quality of images I take on the S6 Edge+ are stunning and I really don't see too much difference with the S7. Then there's the SD card slot. Well I have a 64Gb S6 Edge+ and It still has loads of space available. The S7 has only 32Gb storage of which is taken up by a lot of system files and bloatware. An SD card slot you'd think would take on some of your apps, but I found very few that were allowed to be moved. So the memory card is going to be useful for your media but little else. It was also a bit of a pain getting permissions to access the card by other file managers. The screen isn't much smaller than the S6E+ but due to the brilliant way Samsung has shrunk the casing, it doesn't feel smaller, you only really notice it being narrower in use.
The S7 is a great phone, absolutely and those coming from an older phone would be more than happy with the upgrade. But the S6 Edge+ is still an amazing phone and is still a flagship without a doubt. It is a keeper and until the Note 6 makes an appearance I am happy to call it one of Samsung's best phones available right now.

But it is not waterproof. And that is for me a major plus, my wife has an xperia z3 we don't use but it in the summer (because of dust and water in the beach, ayou know).
Another point is memory card I personally happen to havean s6 for as little as month, and I had to trade it for a G4, why is that? Because I'm an xda enthousiast, and flashing roms kernels and stuff with only internal roms is less funny, as when hou commit an error (and god we commit a lot) you sometimes lose you data, and have hard time copy roms to flash into the phone when there is no system installed. You must go through odin again.
Long story short : those 2 features are more than a small upgrade to me.
Plus, for the first time since G3, I hold a device that has a screen big enought but still manage to be small enough in the hand to not notice it's a 5.5"
Envoyé de mon SM-T800 en utilisant Tapatalk
I had the S6 Edge+ and did upgrade to the S7 Edge. But my upgrade cost was very low, so that is not a big factor for me. Putting on all my work apps (all need provisioning from corporate) is the bigger issue.
Have had it for a week+ (T-Mobile shipped very early). So far for me it's been a meaningful upgrade, Battery life is better. Phone is faster and I don't see it stuttering like my S6E+ did. Bluetooth to my Moto 360 is rock solid (the S6E+ would drop the connection several times an hour, which also created a bad bluetooth experience with streaming audio in the truck).
While I really like the size, my old eyes do miss the slightly smaller screen, however text does "fit" better on the S7 Edge.
My perfect phone would be (although physically impossible) a 6.5 inch screen that fits on this phone without increasing the size (yes I know impossible), but that would do it for me. Oh and give me 128 or 256 Gig internal memory and a SD slot.

How much software performance changed from note 5 to s7 edge?

Hi,
Im iphone user, im also android fan, s3 and s4 note 2 was my favourite,
From some year samsung is doing such crazy things with their ui,
Im using iPhone 6, i wanted to go back to andoid again so i bought note 5, i liked everything except software performance, scrolling in even popular app like facebook etc, was horrible, i sold it in week, im not against android, i think its samsung fault not google.
So i want to buy s7 edge now,
What user are experiencing anything bad and good,
Im iPhone user, i want smooth experience but in samsung device,
So is scrolling still laggy? How much smoother than old device?
Is it good time to buy ?
Please i lost big money when I sold week used note 5,
Now i want to be prepare.
Please help me to make decision.
Make sure you get s7 8890 based, much faster.
scrolling in facebook with 8890 is as smooth as iOS now... close to perfection
Thanks to all,
Can you make video please i would really thankfull.
I have s7 edge, previously Note Edge (also Note 4,3,2 ).
The difference between Note Edge and S7 Edge is evident. S7 is on from three days without restart, and the reactivity is always the same. Also the RAM management is improved, and the transition from an app to another.
I can see that stock browser is very very fast, the difference with chrome is evident, I was surprised.
I like the performances of this smartphone.
What I don't like are the edge panel, how they work.
When you recall the edge panel, the screen below is blurred and I hate this think .
Facebook, Youtube and Play store scrolling are significantly better. I don't have an iPhone to compare.
Stock browser is near perfect. Much better than Chrome for some reason.
I have the Snapdragon version if it makes any difference.
I will try s7 edge, i have to sell i6s , i hope i taken good decision..
Weird, I have the n5 Verizon one and haven't noticed any lag or scrolling issues, especially since the marshmallow update.

So bought it finally.
As a iphone user. I have to say its really amazing phone.
Samsung changed it finally, lot from note 5.
Something I saw in s7 edge that I see touch wiggling some time when I hold finger. Some left that to tweech it.
Overall really great device.
