BATTERY LIFE: Heavy Use Endurance - Galaxy Note5 General

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Note5's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

When using the Note5 heavily, I can get through an entire day...but barely. Like if phone comes off the charger at 7am and I beat the crap out of it with tons of use, it'll be at around 10% by 8 or 9pm. If I'm going out, I just put it on the fast charger and bam, I'm back up to 50% in like 30 minutes.

I'm getting 8hrs sot, with WiFi running continuous, but mobile data off,I'm moderate user, still my previous phone didn't last me a day,but thanks to this phone now I'm carefree about battery, well at least for me the quest for better battery ends

I just got the phone and am only getting from 7am to 1-2pm, then having to charge you guys must not browse the web a lot and use social media to much.

Dear All,
i want to know your phone when you full charge with your note 5 100% what is the timing estimate usage hours?
for me show 24hr8m.
would you help tell me about your phone it is the same or not.
Thanks

man this phone battery sucks, i use sometimes facebook, and have some news apps , some youtube, email, and bit of this and that
i charge it overnight and leave home at 8 am
and at 7 pm the phone battery is dead that is such a bad battery i wish to know how the people here praise its battery it really is bad

HI Man, it is as same as me

man today it ran out of battery so fast by 5pm it is dead, and i barely used it . Oh man i feel i did a huge mistake buying this phone
i tried factory restting it and still the same
this is so so so bad that i am so missing my iphone which was working great and had an amazing battery life
and add salt to the injury i ended up buying the sm-n920k which is the korean version and this has no rom support what so ever here on xda
i am so disappointed

For those of you that are having a lot of trouble getting through a day, I'd highly recommend this http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/guide-bloating-touchwizzing-note-5-t3184563 because I got at a minimum 150% of my original screen on time compared to when I just got the phone.

Guys i don y know what you re doing but my battery life is amazing. By far the best phone and battery money can buy at the moment. Check it out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63851201

I'm not sure what you people with terrible battery life are doing. I hardly used my phone today but it's still been on for a while. Switch to T-mobile and put some cool stuff on it. I am by no means an android expert, but the quest for battery life is how I discovered XDA.

My experience is different. With moderate use i drain about 12% an hour. Then again im on the moar rom with no bloatware running in back ground. But heck even with heavy use. I have yet to see the phone less than 50%.

i am not using my phone when i at work and now 16:15pm. unplugged at 07:00am. total 12,5 hours on. SOT is 1 hours and now phone at %37. Heavy AndroidSystem and AndroidOS battery drain. i tried to use my phone without root for one week but impossible. %5 per hour. Battery graphic is going down everytime!!! This is so stupid!! again i will root my phone and i will use custom kernel and again everything will be fine again.
1) samsung dont know how to code a good kernel
2) without root note 5 is worst multitasking phone with huge 4gb of ram
3) without root i cant even delete that never use and never wanted phones by me (facebook or instagram or other bull****s)
4) without root i cannot use my phone without lagfree( because i must disable or delete some useless apps that allways sits on my RAM!!)
5) i paying lots of money and for use a good phone i must forget my guarantie!!
Thanks a lot samsung! note 5 will be my last samsung phone
Actually we must talk about that! Thanks !!

Thnks....

I get very decent battery life, check this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/battery-life-discussion-t3178480
I currently have all of the bloatware running, as well. I used to use Package Disabler Pro, but no longer find that I need to use it for battery life. 99% of the time I am NOT using wifi either.
Things I have done (to the best of my memory):
1. Disabled VOLTE
2. Wifi calling
3. Turn off location history
4. Remove Android Device Manager as a Device Administrator
5. Screen brightness set pretty low, but I have it set to auto as well
Probably a couple of other things I missed, but I believe those optimizations have greatly improved battery life on my phone.
Hope this helps.

Any one has this problem after the latest update i have battery drian faster and my phone always has used more than 85% from ram.(Note5 SM_N920c)???

i would say this accounts for heavy use...a little bit of everything but.mostly youtube 1440p videos with almost full brightness...some facebook, browsing, games, etc...only wifi. from this point till i reach 5% i ll use only data to.simulate further heavy usage - so i ll update the info as soon as i reach 5% or so...
my config : darthstalker v5, skyhigh kernel 2.6 undervolted by around -100mv on almost everything, if you want i ll post links to the synapse settings from othe threads...and frequencies locked to a57 min @600 max @2400mhz, a53 min @300 max @1500mhz, gpu 266/600mhz. coming up - only data connection from 51% to 5%.

and here s the end result (so basically 49% spent only on wifi and another 46% spent only on data...

Atrix Battery Life

I have been letting a couple of days go by to see how the battery is and I have got to say that I am highly not impressed. I love the phone and even like Blur but the battery is really a let down. I know that the first day or so that I use the phone heavily because of course.. ITS NEW. But today I have been real busy at work and have maybe text a few people, made 2 calls, and looked up a number using google maps and my battery is now down to 60%. In battery manager, it says 5h 2m 25s since unplugged which would be me taking the phone off the charger this morning and heading to work. Other stats are:
Display 35% 29m 52s
Phone Idle 26% 4h 32m 47s
Voice Calls 24% 6m 45s
Cell Standby 11% 5h 4m 5s
Wi-Fi 6% 1h 51m 56s
From looking at these battery stats and usage, does it even seem correct to be at 60% battery? This is at the least very minimal usage for a phone.
Yet another battery thread... One thing before people start complaining: don't estimate battery life based on battery gauge! Complain once the battery is dead and you HAVE to charge. That's the real mileage you'll get from your battery (and give it a few days to calibrate). The gauge is not a good indicator.
I am a new Atrix user too and so far the battery life is 12hrs or less. Maybe that is not impressive. Coming from the N1, its alright in my book.
I do want to say to everyone complaining about the battery life:
It can take a week or more for the battery to settle into the routine and perform to its maximum ability. Lets start the conversation again later next week on where our battery is at.
Yesterday I got 13 hrs between unplugging the phone, and getting the 15% warning. Not all that bad. Not great, but definitely could be worse.
mine has yet to drop below 30% and im pretty much browsing the web and texting all day. I dont care what kind of phone you have but making voice calls and playing games/watching videos kills battery with a quickness no matter how big a battery you have. . The atrix in my personal usage is just as good as my ip4 was.
the atrix was very good on battery life compare to other android phones i've had
Have the Atrix and Epic 4G and the Atrix lasts easily twice as long as the Epic.
I have to keep he Epic pluged in for my hour comute with pandora, just to make sure I have enough battery to make it for the trip home. Normal usage during the day with brightness all the way down, wifi off, BT off, sync On.
Had the Atrix today (day one after full night charge, unpluged at 6:30a), kept BT On, WiFi On, Brightness 100%, Sync On, Exchange Sync On, Auto off/standby set to 15 minutes, Pandora on via BT for my hour trip (unpluged), forest Live Background, Weather Widget etc.,downloaded everyting I could think of/find, constant e-mail, and constant "whatsApp" till noon (lunch), wache YouTube Videos for my whole hour lunch (still full bright mind you). Created 10 minute Install Video with 720p for work, then uploaded via WiFi, not USB. More Texing, Calls and Downloads. .... FINALLY haed to plug it in at 2:30p, with 5% battery left, I think I could have made it till 3 for sure.
That's a full 8 hours of NonStop Use of everything. I expect to get Morning-Night life from normal usage.
Final word. Test it first. I did and it's Great, not just good. The receiving end of all my texts and e-mail blasting and video look ups has an iPhone. He had to charge his at 2:30 too, but has his iPhone set to max battery save (brightness 15%, wifi off, sync off, etc.) But was using as intensly as I was
... okay I'm done ...

Well I must have a bad battery or something then because I am not doing nearly half the stuff that you are doing and am now at 30%. Is there any special charging methods or anything that I should try to squeeze out a few more hours on this puppy?

may be you have several internet connected background service running behind the scene?
My attitude towards the battery is a mixed bag.
1) PRO: It blows away the battery for the Eris (which I'm coming from)
2) CON: As these phones come to be computers with phone capability, it's really time for manufacturers to try their hardest for better batteries. I'd eagerly accept a phone twice as thick as this one if it meant double the battery life.
I find mine is only good for 10 hours (much less with heavy usage, but low calling time). I expected more.

I really call bull on this.
Coming from the world of Airsoft, I'm no stranger to battery performance.
Most of these performance myths are hold overs from the Ni-Cad days and don't apply to modern batteries.
Call Bull all you want. But it was true to the N1 and so far its been true to my battery. It does not last the first few days and gets better after a few charge cycles.
Frankly, everyone believes whatever they want on batteries. I for one take it as a user by user experience. I watch my battery life a lot, but I also like to have Google Reader and Google Listen syncing.
I'm at 30% right now and 12 hours unplugged. What I wouldcall moderate use. Its not as good as my captivate on custom rom / kernel but its far from bad enough.for me to complain about

Andriod sucks the battery, bigger battery on Atrix didn't help much. Google need to optimize the OS for better battery management. I am disappointed coming from Samsung Focus & iPhone 4, both have superior battery life. BTW, I am on Day#4, conditioning the battery didn't help any so far..
Within Range
Looking at all the comments - I would say the Atrix is within range -- I knew when I saw the 1950 mAh (or whatever the exact spec) that the tegra processor must really be a power hog -- the new processor, along with the huge screen is going to draw a lot of power. Comparing to other phones with single core processors and screens even 20% smaller is not reasonable.
Definitely a good point... going to be interesting to see how well other dual core are going to hold up. That will be a better comparison.
Is that battery really a 1930mAH? The size looks like any 1500mAH battery isn't it?
I managed to get close to 16 hours of 'normal' use, meaning I wasn't trying to drain it, nor was I trying to conserve battery. I took the phone off the charger at 3pm and made it all the way to 2pm the following day with about 20% left. That's 23 hours, but I subtracted out the time the phone was on while I was asleep, 8 hours (nighttime mode).
Hmm hearing all these replies i believe i have a defective battery. I unplugged mine today at 5:15AM and now it's 2:18PM and it's just gave me the 15% beep. I've sent about 25 texts and played some words with friends. I've got watchdog installed and no apps seem to be out of control. I'm wondering if a factory reset would fix the issue or if i should return it.

try going to your dialer and entering *#*#INFO#*#*
Look under the battery usage and check the different items. Is anything using a significant amount? it could be a rogue app.
I will say MotoBlur has a lot running in the background. About twice as much as vanilla android.
I have turned most of this off and I do know that is helping my battery life.

[DISCUSS] Battery Life.

Most threads about battery are quite outdated, so I decided to start a new one.
And so recently my battery is starting to get less muscular.. My Xperia Play is 4 and a half months old, and one hour of consistent 3G usage can drop the battery down from 65% to 24%. I'm not very sure whether that is the norm, but if it is, that's bad battery life, in my opinion.
The Android 'Battery Use' page shows that most of my battery is drained from Cell Standby and System Idle (30%).
My wireless and GPS is always off. Am on 2.3.4 rooted.
Also, Gameboid consumes battery like a beast (even more than 3G), but I guess that's due to the high processing power required for emulation..
Is there any way I can improve the battery life?
Personally I found battery life to be terrible on 2.3.4 so I downgraded to R800i_4.0.A.2.368_World. I'm running 122M-1.5Ghz with scary and BFQ, on top of that I undervolted every frequency as much as I could using incredicontrol (Id give you the values but they vary by device). I always leave wifi, bluetooth, gps and data off when not using them, turned off automatic clock updates (there was a battery draining bug with this a while ago) and I run at 10% brightness with autobrightness off. With this set up I lose maybe 3-5% per night, so for around 6-8hrs in standby while I sleep. Ive got similar results on both cyanogen and stock. That being said I don't have a data plan so I do save a lot by not having data on, but a 40% drop in an hour isn't normal - Ive played an N64 emu which runs the processor full speed for that long and only experienced a 15-20% drop.
imho, the best battery life i've experienced is on 2.3.4.. when i'm on 2.3.3 i always lost 30-40% overnight (wifi, bluetooth, 3g, etc are turned off) stock rom, locked BL..
According to some folks, if you're charging your phone and let it stay plugged in for a while after it hits 100% that screws with the battery life.
On 2.3.4 rooted with all the facebook, timescape and other bloat removed my battery is pretty good. Wifi is on 247 and it reverts to hspda when out. Data syncs hourly, and i have contacts, hotmail and gmail syncing.
The other day i was sitting at 57% after 1 day 3 hours, and that included a half hour go on fpse, might have been more.
Battery life seems good to me. I get 1 day usage then charge over night. I do use my phone quite a lot for this (Tapatalk), Phandroid app, Engadget app, Joystiq app and browser. Wifi and GPS is always on.
At a guess I'm using the phone for about 1 hour a time, about 7 times a day... So like 7 hours web use, phone calls and texts, syncing is set to every hour with FiX on.
When I was on 2.3.3 I'd be lucky to get 10 hours out of the battery but 2.3.4 is awesome.
Edit. Obviously I play games too. Forgot to mention that.

Actually I get similar idle battery drain rates as you, but personally I'm not very concerned with battery drain as long as it's not so much. I'm more troubled with battery life on consistent usage, which I feel the Xperia Play (or at least mine) sucks at.
When I play Gameboid, I get the same fast battery drop too - 40-50% in one hour.

Yep, I read that from a lot of places too. I admit I used to do that (and have since stopped doing that), but sometimes I can't help it if I forgot to charge at night before I sleep (and have to charge overnight to ensure I have battery the next day).

I envy your battery life One thing, if you remove Facebook, will your Facebook contacts picture sync go away too?
And did you remove the bloat stuff by deleting them from /system/app?

Sigh, I could never get such good battery life..
All the more reason to undervolt, in standby undervolting doesn't have much of an effect on the phone since the processor is either in deep sleep or running at its lowest speed. Also using a governer like scary or smartass helps keep your device running at a lower frequency when possible. Like I said 2.3.4 was terrible for me, 10% drain overnight or more, but apparently YMMV with this. That being said 40-50% drain in an hour is crazy no matter what you're doing on the phone, like I said running N64oid for an hour drops me 15-20% keeping in mind this is at 1.5GHz with sound and the backlight constantly on. If all else fails you can always wipe everything and start fresh, carrying over the same settings while jumping around firmware can lead to some undesirable results. Anyway good luck and keep us posted
The facebook sync option doesn't appear on my anymore, although it used to. To clean it up all i did was :
Purchase Titanium Bakup
Freeze the things I wanted to remove and test rebooting, only freezing a few more each time
Backed up every app
Slowly uninstalled each one with a reboot every couple of apps
Enjoyed my faster phone with better battery life
I use the gmail sync and life.contacts for contact pics
I get amazing battery life on 2.3.4.
In stand-by I lose 1% every 3'rd hours. It's very good in use too. Yesterday I had my day with heaviest use so far and texted like crazy the whole day and a lot of phone calls. Some surfing, gaming and updating of apps between that. Basically the phone was frequently used the whole day with short periods of stand-by in between. At night when I went to bed the battery was at 40%.
Earlier this week I used it minimally for 2 days. The battery dropped 10% for each of those days. But that was very minimal use.
So in short. I have not experiences better battery life on any other Android phone. What takes the most power is emulating. It can suck up like 20% in an hour depending on which emulator I use.
I got my Play at the beginning of the week and with quite intensive use, without WiFi or 3g, I scraped an 8am to 6pmish day on the battery. Admittedly with a fair bit of gaming.
However, that was only waiting for my 2600mAh battery to arrive and now I'm using it, I would recommend it for the bulk. You don't notice it after half an hour or so and I have no issues with gaming on the go whereas I always thought it may die on the stock.
mine drops 4 - 5% /hour..... much faster than b4.... dn no w is goin on w/ ma PLAY.....
I found that since updating to 2.3.4 my battery drains quicker. Usually charge overnight and battery would be around 15% bedtime. (7am - 11pm approximately)
Now I'm finding that by 6pm I'm having to charge it and that's without gaming
brought to you by the XDA app on my badass Android toy
Three times in my first week and a half of ownership I awoke to find it completely dead despite fully charging it or nearly fully charging it before bed. I usually sleep with my phone next to my head so that I can ensure that the alarm will wake me up. That and the lack of a timer function really irk me about this phone. I really hate having to create and save an alarm when I know I only have 45 minutes or 2 hours to sleep (I work a grave shift and have inconsistent sleep schedules during the day). It adds insult to injury when something changes that lets me get another 5, 10, 20 minutes or so and I can't easily add it. On top of that, I have to go back and delete all the alarms I made throughout the day!

Not at true max but at what the battery controller considers max. True maximum will drastically decrease the total cycles just like true minimum only to gain longer cycles in the short-term. When you store a battery it's best to stop at 75-80% because it will lose stored energy slower and not spend nearly as much time near 100%, which is still a trade-off between long cycles and more cycles.
What do you guys think to this?

Its the same size as the standard stock battery so there's no extra bulk... But gives an extra 930mah?
To be honest, I am somewhat tempted... However the question is, will it explode in my pocket and result in me losing half my leg? It's quite a big risk to take! There also might be a voltage difference, however I cannot see anything on that.
Im currently on 1.6Ghz, undervolted. And I just played Order and Chaos for 35 minutes and went from 86% to 63% - I've had bad luck in the past regarding phone batteries, I remember replacing my G1 battery around 7 times, but at these rates my Play would be dead after around 3 hours or less of gaming.
how do you update to 2.3.4 it wont show me =[ please someone answer me :/

You have to expect that with any phone playing an online game. Wifi/screen/GPU/CPU are going at full wack at the same time. What dya expect?

is my battery faulty?

hey,
Im a new tablet user.I own a nexus 7 and im so disappointed with its battery life that i cant take it anymore so i have to ask.its just been a couple of days since i bought it. the maximum on screen time i get is 5-6hrs.i scrolled over battery life posts of others on this forum and i was shocked to see many of them actually have good battery life which made me worry even more.Maybe its the battery's fault or something.it had some heating issues then i did a factory reset now its fine but the battery still sucks.i have disabled all google apps,location,maps,books..etc all that i dont need but still its no good.please suggest something.shoud i ask for replacement or is it something like the model whose price go down are geared up with cheaper hardware and stuff cos i bought this one recently and this probably came out last year.
The third screenshot was taken after watching a full movie on earphones with full battery.it went down 32 % of the battery.wifi was off.
Please suggest
It's you usage. That's all. Games take a huge toll on battery life on any device.
You have no issue.
Try one full charge with zero gaming. See how you do then. ?
That's about average, as LJ says games really suck battery the most. My typical usage consists of web browsing, XDA forum on Tapatalk browsing, pocket, twitter, fb, etc nothing too heavy really. I get about 4-5 hrs screen on over about 2-3 days. Im usually only on my tablet in the evening and so it sleeps the rest of the time with WiFi and autosync off.
You can always experiment with other ROMs/kernels to see if you can tweak things further.
Also, 5.0 is on the way, you could always flash the factory images for a full fresh lollipop experience. [emoji2]

Galaxy note 4 battery consumption when using it

Hi
I've recently purchased a Note 4 and it was already updated to Lollipop (currently running N910FXXU1BOC3). I've owned a Galaxy S2 and a Note 3.
This Note 4 is a marvellous phone but is BY FAR the worst in terms of battery consumption when using it. I'm not sure if this is somewhat normal or my phone is defective but here are some examples.
- When I commute to work (about 45 mins door to door) I use the phone to listen music, browse on facebook, check email. Normal stuff. When I'm at the office after 45 mins I'm easily at 87/88% battery remaining. The Note 3 was probably in worst cases at 92% or even more.
- Filming a video (at an average resolution) for around 30 mins sucked probably 30% of my battery (I can't remember exactly) and the phone was very hot at the end.
- When browsing on internet or doing "standard" stuff, I can easily see the percentage going down by numbers. It's probably 1% every 2/3 mins.
- Right now I'm at 81% of battery: battery stats says about 12 hours remaining, 2h 51mins with battery.
- GSAM Battery monitor says an average duration of 13:56. Average values are duration 23h 34m (11h 35m active) and screen 3h 28m (4h 48m Max).
I'm quite experienced and I checked pretty much everything and I don't see drains. In fact the phone does keep a very good battery when it's not used [by the way, by the time I wrote 81% a two lines above, it's now at 80% just because I checked battery stats...how much, a couple of minutes?], there does not seem to be a battery drain issue. It's just sucking too much battery when using it.
Some info: location is almost always off, brightess is auto at just one step above the minimum, I use LLama to switch off wifi when not used, gmail and email are synched every few hours, facebook has no push notification active (as you see I'm quite conservative).
Do you think I have a defective model or it's normal?
thanks
Hi,
Have you tried remove the Google account, reboot the phone, add it back, reboot again?
I had the exact same problem as yours, and that little trick solved the problem.

Hi btoledob
I've done what you recommend and will check tomorrow how it goes. I trust you, even if I don't understand why an account could cause this usage...

May be there's something wrong with your unit. I get about 5 hours plus screen on time even after using the phone for like 20 hours. Usage includes mostly browsing and chatting on whatsapp.

Well, apart from GSAM I have no "battery monitor crap". I am a fairly experienced user: generally I root phones and used do install custom roms (but not - yet - on the note 4), I use Greenify, LLama and Tasker, Titanium with remote load of files...I am a computer programmer so I can say that I know this stuff. No bloatware should impact as I see stock rom phones with DOUBLE my SOT.
Your SCREAMED suggestion of reading the thread is accepted, but we're talking about 154 pages of the thread. Some people have been more useful suggesting to wipe cache (done, didn't help), to logoff/logon from Google (done, does not seem to have helped) and to wipe phone and start from scratch (NOT yet done, as I consider it as a last resource given the time it takes to reinstall everything, reconfigure stuff and so on).
I am now at 10h 27m 35s with battery with 52% (estimated 11 hours). SOT of 1h 44m. If we double that 1h 44 since we are at 52% of battery, I am still at 3h 30m. I've done mostly ordinary stuff with the phone (for example I have not used games or things like Waze who sucks battery a lot).
I think I'm going to make a call to the service center as seeing people with UP TO 11 hours make me think I have a defective unit or, worse, a defective battery.
thanks
Pretty much same problems here. Screen off at night for like 10 hours lost 12% of battery (wifi, sync, bluetooth or) And when I get things to do... I can't get more than 3 hours on screen... I tried everything possible without root and outside using battery saver, but at best 3 hours 30 minutes screen time.

if you analyze i could had more than just 5hrs SOT, but i was at work i just used my phone to text, i played Racing rivals, fb, ig, just the regular apps, instead of 1.5 day i could had 1 day and about 6+hr SOT, this phone is capable of this and much more, its just the software, but like i stated before i had done a couple of changes and these are the results, cheers
Wow.
First, an apology, I have not read that thread, my fault in thinking you were referring to another one, so my sincere apologies.
Secondarily, that thread talks about disabling services, and it can be done on rooted phones only. My phone is not rooted, and I see not rooted phones lasting twice my sot. So it's not mainly am issue with services (albeit I understand it may give you some extra juice).
However you can save the sarcasm for someone else: "get an iphone", "you don't belong to this community". Seriously, go and be this aggressive in real life, behind the screen is too easy, "bro".

Stock QC2 Firmware - Battery tips?

Hi Friends,
Just wonder if this is normal for this phone, or you guys could give me some pointers for extending my battery life, specifically the Screen On Time?
I have:
- Stock QC2 firmware - I believe this is Nougat with the March security patch
- No Facebook installed (Disabled)
- I am on data about 8 hours a day, rest is WiFi, Bluetooth for my Watch, and NFC is off
- Generally use a black and red theme
- Doing Ad blocking with the AdClear VPN solution
- Sometimes I make conference calls of under 2 hours
- No games, no YouTube watching
With this set I can barely manage like 3 hours of SOT. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? Any pointers? Thanks!
3 hours SOT is not normal for unrooted stock. I would suggest downloading GSam Battery Monitor and finding out what is hogging the battery. Note that you will need to manually enable the battery statistics permission with ADB for some reason, but after that it will work like normal.
The top two lines should be Android System and Kernel. If you see any non-system app in the vicinity, that is your likely culprit unless you can explain it with normal usage (for example, Firefox is at the top of the list on mine because I surf the web with it)
Alternately, if nothing odd shows up, you may have a bad battery.
The other thing you might take a look at is shutting off the Location setting that scans Wifi/Bluetooth. That is a massive battery killer
Thank you for the helpful responses guys! I'll try GSam Battery stuff... What are your SOTs BTW?
Thanks!
Also my vibration is always on, my back lit keys are always on, and a 30 second screen timeout time, if it helps? Thanks!
Finally, this is the AT&T model with all the bloat disabled.
I'm typically off charge 18 hours and on data the entire time. I do run a Exchange email app that pushes email, my SOT isn't really huge, maybe around 2-3 hours and I also have BT always on and connected to my S3 Frontier. At the end of my day, I end up with with battery around 50% ish.........
Did you recently update, or did you do a clean install? Sometimes the battery can take a few days to settle in

That's pretty amazing! Yes, clean install and updated from MM to Nougat and then the latest patch.
I've got a battery monitoring app installed now... Let's see what it unveils... I'm thinking maybe it's my settings, syncing and etc, cause I NEVER get the SOTs people report on XDA LOL, on any phone really except the Mate 9 I had...

Battery life is SO subjective. The app's installed and the person's usage habits play a massive part in battery life, and you saying that you never get what others are, speak a lot to that.
The built in optimizers in Nougat seem to do a pretty good job at putting unused battery sucking apps to sleep.

I notice one thing, when i connect my Gear 2 by bluetooth battery on phone less about 10-15% less. With out watch and no FB and FB messenger, NFC on, most of day on data, wifi off, 5-6 hours call ( do to nature of my job) i get around 3.5 hours SOT.

I agree bud, so I think my usage pattern must be horrible, cause from the earliest Androids like Droid Incredible to Axon 7 and S7 Edge and others, I never get what people mention. And some of their claimed usage is ridiculous, they say they play games all day, LTE, Videos and still get like 5 hours or etc... Boggles my mind. My biggest battery hog I suspect is my VPN based AdGuard, maybe the vibration, but compared to gaming and etc, they sound so insignificant.

Yeah, that's more like my usage. Without my Watch, this may be the case. I don't use NFC. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

This is a actually normal for USA SAMSUNG battery which is why no1 should get Galaxy S7 on USA carriers battery is even 100 maH smaller at 3500. Battery is always crap usa versions. And I am stuck in them nougat is bad for battery nothing you can do but downgrade to Android 6.0.1 with Odin. Best battery I can upload a vid for proof att Samsung S7 edge battery sucks and so will all USA carriers s8 never buying Samsung again GG. Switch phones best option iPhones have best battery but I hate them. I'd go for a phone with biggest mAh in specs and read reviews for battery. If downgrading doesn't work sorry for all Samsung lovers who read this it's just fact if you actually compare USA version to international. Battery on international is 92 ish hours not even close on USA version +1 sorry for my rant. Second best option I went to zero lemon and got a battery charging case that was like 10000 something maH and I never loose battery because I keep case on entire time makes phone weigh 4 pounds tho

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, bud, I think I would agree, this must be reality. An update for me, seems like getting rid of the VPN based Adblocker has helped battery. Last night, I finally got 4 hours SOT, but that was with the VPN app. Trying without it all day, let's see how it goes.
BTW, hands down, the best battery I have ever seen in the US is on the Huawei Mate 9, even on Nougat. The HUGE battery helps, but legitimately, I was getting 7 hours of SOT.
Thanks guys!
Got the attached SOT after turning off the VPN based ad blocker and using it as needed, rather than on the whole time... Is this closer to normal? ?
I only get 3-4hrs SOT but it is connected to my huawei watch and music is playing when it connects to my bluetooth fm transmitter in my car. I also usually have it plugged in while driving. The best battery life SOT I've seen is on the moto z play. My sister has that phone and she got almost 9hrs SOT. Usually gets at least 7. Someone got over 10.
