Have you tried Windows Update instead? Apparently you need to update Mobile Device Center (damn-american-sic) to get the Touch HD to work properly. I didn't have the problem due to downloading and installing the updated version in the first instance from scratch on plugging in Blackstone.
Thanks my friend but how do i do that? Pls send me a link.

um... what? You mention Mobile Device Center rather than Active Sync, therefore you must be using Windows Vista. Windows Update is part of windows. there is no link I can give you other than it's in your Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update.
I honestly don't know how you can be running Windows Vista and not know about Windows Update. Even if you have a pirated version of Windows, you should still know about it because you have to disable Windows Update to not get your system to lock up when it tries to authenticate itself on the update service automatically!
Open Windows Update, if you have an old version of Mobile Device Center, there will be an update there for you. If you already have this updated version then I don't know what's wrong for you.
I do understand. I have windows Vista (Genuine) and everybody knows of windows update and my system update daily. To be honest there is no particular update for WMDC atleast i cannot see any that's why i come to you people for help.

Applogies, my confusion was the way that your post sounded like you were asking for a link to Windows Update!
When you connect your blackstone, does it pop up with a message on the phone screen asking if you want to connect as ActiveSync, Disk Drive or Internet Sharing or does it do nothing? If it does nothing, there's a chance that it might have been accidentally set to automatically connect to one of the options other than ActiveSync, thus not showing the phone in Device Center
If this is the case, on your blackstone go to Settings (either Start -> settings or the settings tab of TouchFlo3D then "all settings" on the left soft-key at bottom left of screen) then Communications tab, then USB to PC and see if the bottom check-box is selected. Select the top most radial button (or confirm that it is selected) and try connecting to your laptop again.
If that doesn't work, go back to the USB to PC screen and make sure that the checkbox saying "clear this check box is ActiveSync does not recognise the device" is unchecked. (alternatively check the box if it was previously unchecked, just in case!)
If those don't work, I'm not sure what else to suggest!

Are drivers correctly installed? Plug usb when in download mode and look if you get any errors in device manager. If there are errors- uninstall drivers, reboot pc, install drivers, disable KIES/NPCS and connect phone in download mode. If there are no driver errors start Odin

Close the application, if it has system tray icon/launcher- close it too (right click for menu->exit or something like this). For KIES closing tray launcher was necessary.
Thanks this has worked and now I am rooted: D I am having some problems with apps2sd as I have said in new topic

[Q] Nexus 4 ADB on Windows 7 Home

After several hours of frustration, I'm just going to ask.
I have USB debugging enabled. When I plug in the Nexus 4 Windows auto installs drivers for MTP.
It's listed under portable devices in device manager. I am trying to uninstall the driver and install the Naked driver. But as soon as I uninstall in device manager, Windows reinstalls, despite me having turned off auto-installation of drivers. I am not able to use the advanced method listed here http://www.addictivetips.com/window...utomatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista because gpedit.msc doesn't exist for Home users.
I have unplugged the device and manually put it into Fastboot and plugged it in. Windows does not try to autoinstall drivers. I am able to install Naked drivers and the device appears as "Android Phone" in device manager.
How can I proceed?

The problem is that Windows is auto-installing the driver as soon as I uninstall it from device manager. I have this setting disabled in Device Installation Settings but nevertheless it continues auto-installing.

When you plug in your n4 in your pc, does it allow you to open the folder for your phone. If it does the drivers are installed. Mine n4 did the same as you when I plugged it in my PC, and did show Android in the device manager.
Use the nexus 4 toolkit to do it.

It's showing up as portable device, not as Android when MTP is connected. If I manually boot into fastboot, and connect to PC it will show as Android.
Nexus 4 toolkit doesn't work. When I connect the device, it still only shows up as MTP device connected.
How can I stop the "Nexus 4" driver from auto installing the MTP driver?
Nobody else is having this problem?

You could try this installer. If a prompt ever says not to install a driver just do it anyway.
http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php
I was having the same issues, toolkit didnt work, auto kept auto installing MTP only, junefabrics.com didn't work by itself, LG drivers didn't work. finally I tried the drivers in sig and adb was installed but the tool kit still didn't recognize it. I ran the one from junefabrics.com after that and hit no to not reinstall the drivers when it asks, but it's hanging when installing pdanet on my phone.

im in the same boat
I'm having these same issues. Very frustrating.
Just fixed the problem by following the directions in this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34154052&postcount=7
His instructions about cmd prompt didn't work for me, so in device manager I selected View -> Show Hidden Devices.
I removed all android, nexus, other android phones and then reinstalled the drivers via the toolkit. Seems to be working so far!
The MTP driver will always install as that's nothing to do with adb. If you open Device Manager it should have the other option - you then manually install the driver by browsing the the drivers folder when using the 'Update driver' option in the right-click menu when you click on it in Device Manager

tried pda but failed
its caused by the android 4.2.2 update...
For anyone still having problems, these are the steps I followed that fixed it for me. (After updating to the latest sdk version and downloading the google usb driver)
1. Uninstalled the driver from Device Manager
2. Let it automatically install the generic 'MTP device driver'
3. Right clicked on the new device and selected 'Update Driver'
4. Selected 'Have Disk' and pointed it to [android-sdk-dir]\extras\google
5. Watched an 'ADB' driver install.
6. Opened Eclipse to successfully run on my N4.

[Q] Windows 8 Driver Install

I flashed, factory bootloader, radio, and 4.3.zip, but Windows 8 will not allow me to install the Google usb_driver update that I installed from the SDK manager. I choose to select the drive myself for "unknown device" and navigate to C:\Development\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130514\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver, but I get a message saying "Windows could not find driver software for your device." I've restarted my computer, uninstalled the driver and reinstalled. I'm not sure if it matters, but I was running 4.2.2 rooted and deodexed with CWM recovery before. I also skipped the w- switch when I installed the .zip, so as not to lose any data. I wouldn't mind backing up my phone and reflashing with the w- switch, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that, since my computer won't even recognize my phone as a storage device anymore. I am using the cable that came with the phone too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Although I should have tried that before I posted, that didn't work either. For what it's worth, after I ran the flash, the generic android app icon was where the phone app should have been; I had to move the phone app icon from the apps menu. Also, I had to force close In Tune radio and the phone app isn't autocompleting.

[Q] screen issue after installing win8

hello xda,..
i was having win7 on ma laptop..recently i have upgraded it to win8 .. my screen clarity has decreased and looks somewhat blur..right now i don have drivers cdto install..so is there any other ways to solve my issue?? pls reply...thanks
my laptop is asus (x5dc)
If you haven't installed the drivers, then your screen probably isn't set to the correct resolution. Go into the screen settings and check that the resolution matches the specs of your laptop.
Keep in mind, without the proper drivers installed, you may not be able to change the resolution.
If you can find the drivers cd, go to asus web site and download a copy of the video drivers.
Move your cursor to the bottom left of the screen on desktop so the little start square appears, right click it and in the menu which appears click "device manager".
This will open the device manager window. In the list that appears will be an option called "display adaptors". Click the arrow next to it to enlarge the options. It should then list what graphics chips are available on the system (in my case on this laptop "Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000", on my desktop NVidia GTX460 and some AMD integrated chipset).
Right click whichever appears (if 2 do this twice, once for each, but do it 1 at a time). Click update driver software. Click "search automatically for driver software". Unless the laptop is older than I think, windows should be able to go off and locate the correct driver for you and install it, you will need an internet connection.
Once that is done, reboot and then go to desktop (you must not skip the reboot). Right click the desktop > screen resolution. In the window which appears set the resolution dropdown box to 1366 * 768, anything else is incorrect for your laptop. The screen might flash a bit as it resizes, thats normal.
Running windows update fully may also update your drivers, its a good idea to try the method above first and then run windows update anyway.
Failing that. ASUS have all the drivers available here: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=X5DC&os=17

There is something seriously wrong with your windows 8 install if the drivers are claiming to need the .net framework and the .net framework won't install, its built into windows 8.
But if you want to try a manual install of the .net framework:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21 .NET 3.5
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718 .NET 4
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653 .NET4.5 but I doubt required.
But before trying any of those 3 links (which are in the order I would try them), run windows update. The full update, every single important and recommended update. Will probably take hours (on my internet it will actually take 2 days....) but to me it sounds like there is something not right on your system, windows update should fix a few things (like lack of .NET and possibly drivers too) and you can go from there.
