i wish we could also have a custom rom based on stock motorola, something like computerfreak did for turbo users. 2 days ago, i gave mokee a chance again, flashed and were using it fine without an issue (except occasional lag) , battery was depleted, i had to do some offline charging. I took off the cable out but charging animation was still there. That moment mokee rom died for me before it could make some impressions. Flashed stock again. Anyway, what we need is a custom rom based on stock as a preference for people who give importance to stability over latest android version. Heck even droid turbo users have what i ask in a locked and unrootable enviroment.

Yeah, the charging picture stays there on CM12.1 also -- if I plug in the phone when it's off, and then unplug the phone. The graphic stays there even when it's not charging.
But the Moto active display works fine on CM 12.1.
Another thing I like is I can also choose PART of a theme in CM12.1 to apply. (see top of screenshot) I specifically like the segmented mobile and Wi-Fi signal indicators (like in Kitkat), not the solid "wave" type in Lollipop. So, I applied the "status bar" part of a theme (which had those indicators), but kept the remainder Lollipop. Can't do that with stock 5.02!

Also (on CM12.1) I can choose charging sound and vibration (when plugging/unplugging) -- which under 4.4.4 and 5.02 stock needed Xposed framework + module to pull off.
Stock 5.02 was very laggy for me. CM12.1 (Lolllipop 5.1.1) is very smooth for me and gives me just about all the features I want.
The custom 5.1.1 ROMs aren't 100% perfect but stock 5.02 was only 80% perfect. I'll put up with a ghost charging animation over lag and less features!
I know this thread was discussing Mokee, but the flaw you mentioned is also there in CM12.1. I haven't used Mokee, but I assume it's as smooth as CM 12.1 and probably has custom features similar to CM12.1? So, that's why I was specifically comparing CM12.1 to laggy stock 5.02. More of a defense of 5.1.1 custom ROMs than Mokee in particular...

Having trouble with the video also calls ?. Or camera in Whatsapp??

I know it's still available. I would rather get a ROM that's on XDA, that's all.

I have tried so many times to jump ship with my note.
But i always end up reverting, I dont know if its because i use SideSync so much and CM or PA appear to break that.
I can just not stay on for longer than a day to test it out.

Sadly I just reverted back to a stock base rom (Audax), after discovering that the Mobeam Beep n Go is not working on AOSP/CM roms [emoji17] , and also after some (probably) ram issues wich caused instability.
I'm on Temasek's CM11. Most stable CM based ROM for me. Slim and C ROM had problems on my phone. Would soon try Dirty Unicorn or even LiquidSmooth as soon as it gets stable status.

Tried C-RoM Kang from vikas724. I had some issues, the screen won't turn on and it's bothersome. Temas CM11 build has a few customization, but C-ROM Kang has more way more.
I've used AOSP ROMs on my HTC Desire HD and loved them.
Sammy now has so many little bonuses with their ROMs though. I use Pen Window, Multi Window, 4k recording, Blocking Mode on a daily basis.
Are there available on any AOSP, CM, AOKP Note 3 ROMs?
Could I make a TWRP backup of my current ROM, then install an AOSP, CM, AOKP ROM, then backup that in TWRP, and switch between the two?

You could easily switch back and forth in just a few minutes they are so light and unbloated they load up really fast. If you care about recording audio with your videos you will be extremely disappointed on every aosp ROM. They all record sound extremely low like they only use the microphone from phone calls.
********I spoke too soon, the recording audio is back in temasek's latest test build from today. It should be back for all of aosp in the near future as well*******

[POLL] - What Custom ROM do you want most for D855

Hi Everyone,
As you know the dev team is making progress on the device repo for most devices, since I build for the D855, I want to bring you guys a ROM once bump is released, so let me know which ROM you want most and if I get permission from that ROM's dev I will post it here
Current status I've tested (all current device issues are the same on all ROMs, such as wifi)
Mahdi-ROM - very stable, no software issues
AICP - very stable, no software issues
Cyanogenmod - very stable, no software issues
AOSB - Working great now! being used as Daily for now by me
Vanir-AOSP - very stable, no software issues
Omni - being worked on
Team-Gummy ROM - Future
Pac-ROM - Future
Beanstalk - build issues, not tested yet
Paranoid Android - Works Great!
LiquidSmooth ROM - Working Great on D855
DirtyUnicorns - Being Worked on
I'd like Cyanogenmod or Paranoid android because I see those roms getting updates quickly...
At this stage I'll take anything, honestly, but I'd really like to see PA.
I've heard good things about Mahdi though so I'll say Mahdi !!!
ProBAM is awesome project. I love it.

CyanogenMod tries to build a new, fresh "nightly" version every 24 hours for each of the devices it supports, which includes the most up-to-date changes to the source code, provided from all over the Internet. Of course, the nightly builds may also contain newly-introduced bugs, but hey- if you feel adventurous, you can help make CyanogenMod better by trying these experimental builds and reporting back bugs to the developers.

I couldn't find a thread for the official nightlies, so here it is I guess. If there is an issue with this, mods delete. Just would be nice to have a spot to talk about the official nightlies.....unofficially.
I'm running 4/20 build with full stock gapps and have no issues so far.
4/21 Build, still no noticeable issues.
I think i am having this conversation with myself.. lol

I really haven't had any issues.. been running the nightlies since they were available from other users who built them, now just running the official ones. I will report anything I find, but so far it's been flawless.
The only issue I seem to be having is incoming mms photos are really compressed. Anyone else have this issue?
I believe the only major bug currently is, VoLTE is broken.
I just installed 4-21 yesterday and seen that today's build 4-22 will have the 5.1.1 merged so I dirty flashed over 4-21 and all seems good so far. I can't test VoLTE because I don't have it in my area.
I just did the same.
I did notice some weird stuff on the 4/20 build, but I think it was related to my DPI change. I reverted back to the stock DPI and everything seems ok now.
I have volte on Verizon but I believe its like chroma if u reboot u have to turn off then back on
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
4/22 build is slow to send SMS at times and noticed the messaging app is goofy at times. I'll be in a message and normally it would say the contacts name on top, sometimes that is missing.
Will wipe and try new build and report back.
Has anybody else had issues with Bluetooth randomly shutting off and requiring a reboot to turn back on? I'm on 4/23 update.
I'm running into an issue where I just can't get cm 12.1 to boot. I had an issue w/ Chroma and flashed back to the latest factory images including bootloader, radio, everything. From there, I have TWRP back and working but no matter which combination of cm12.1 build I try with any of Zen, Franco or Lean kernels along w/ the gapps from the cm wiki, I just get stuck at the blue robot and expanding circle boot logo. No amount of time sitting (10+ minutes) allows it to pass. Admittedly I have not tried w/o a kernel, but I don't want to encrypt it. The phone boots fine with stock just fine. A new install of Chroma works as well without issue. Thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance.

Probably some changes have been done that those kernels dont support, for Zen did you use the anykernel zip? That *should* work.
Also, VoLTE works, but you must first toggle it off, then toggle it on. If you reboot, you must redo these steps, but it does work.
Anyone got volte to work on verizon yet on the latest 12.1 nightlies?

Quick update on the rom for ya'll who are interested.
I decided to try using the cm12.1 kernel for my next build, as it's apparently based off of 4.4.4 source. I have the zip made, but I'm having problems with TWRP backing up my system/data/boot partitions (it's making all my backups half size... Weird as ****.), and it's almost 5 AM here, so I'm gonna downgrade my twrp and try again when I get the chance to today. I'll post results here.
Also, if this build doesn't work, I'm going to switch the miui version I'm porting from the MI4 version to the Galaxy Note 4 version. It should be a tad bit easier with that, since both the quarks and the Note 4 have Snapdragon 805. Goodnight, all!

Unfortunately I've been too busy to do any more work on the rom. Been working more than usual. But I'm gonna try to get some work in tomorrow, I get out earlier than I have been. I downloaded patchrom source so I'm gonna try to port the rom with that instead of porting from the Note 4. I'll post in here as soon as something happens.
Also, some bad news in regards to my phone: I dropped it as I was getting ready to leave for work today and shattered the screen ?? luckily it was only the glass! I ordered a replacement, so hopefully I'll get that in a timely manner.
'Tis but a scratch! ?

UM....how is the progress now? I expect it a lot..
Me too
Really looking forward to this. My wife gave her Mi4i away and took my Moto Maxx when I got a 6P. But she is so hooked on to MiUi she keeps harping about it all the time.
For the time being I've given her a CM13 with some MiUi themes on the theme engine. But nothing comes close to the entire feature set. Hope this materialises soon. I'm open to test it for a bit.
BTW @zefir738 I can feel your pain mate... I cracked my Nexus 6p screen a couple of days ago... Hope you get it sorted soon.
Is there a reason you are basing on KK? There is MIUI 7 based on lollipop.
Just fyi
Im looking forward to it as well
Do you guys run into a problem with visual notifications on Moto Maxx? I find know if it's my theme or Cm13, but I have zero screen notifications..
@zefir738 are you ever going to start work on this again or is it screwed

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

I don't have a moto mod yet, I'm waiting until the keyboard mod will be shipped in August. I just got my Moto Z but I'd like to already use a compatible custom ROM. I'd just like to be prepared when the keyboard mod arrives.

I legit have no way of testing it to make sure it works if it hasn't come out yet [emoji6] .
Should be a basic fix anyway.

Sorry, I assumed that all moto mods run on the same platform/driver, so that when one moto mod is working with it, all (future) moto mods should be supported.
Apparently that's not the case, but glad to hear it would be a basic fix.
i cant go in the web site and this rom support jbl mod ?
no jbl speaker mod dont work
I'll get those mod changes merged in soon enough.

Whenever you try to download it, it gives you a 404?
Can you try this again for me as I successfully downloaded the latest version.

I merged in the battery mod changes. Efficiency mode works as expected. One thing I've noticed is battery stats will show the phone is awake a significant amount of the time. Snapchat/camera apps no longer force close. I believe whenever the charge state is changed from the mod the kernel throws a wakelock that the framework interprets as "wake up."
Most likely will not have the speaker mod working right away as I'm redoing the audio policy and have nothing to test it with. I pushed a change to fix speaker audio using the backend (as originally intended). Mod zip it's included by default from now on.
Let me know if you have any other issues.

You need to flash an su add-on in recovery.
E.g. Supersu, magisk, lineages.

It would be be better prerooted.
When I do flash Supersu, magisk it ends up deleting imei information on Moto Z.
