Motorola Chat Rep says Pure Edition (XT1095) works on Verizon---Screenshot - X 2014 General

If this is true I will get the pure edition otherwise Im getting the Verizon version.

It's false.

Definitely false! Verizon uses CDMA. The XT1095 only has GSM radio.
Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk

Probably would work but only on 4G.
Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk

Definitely won't make calls. I have an XT1095, and tried popping in the SIM from my VZW S3 (after cutting down with a sim cutter--sim confirmed to still work). No data network either. Might be possible by rooting, changing the APN, and then registering the IMEI with Verizon online. Otherwise, nope, the phone won't work on Verizon, even with an activated Verizon sim.

No, it is not possible. XT1095 doesn't have CDMA radio.

Just picked one up from best buy for $269. I see the m8 gold is at 349... Loving these price drops!
No the pure will not work.

It's not the CDMA radio stopping you from getting LTE. CDMA only matters for phone calls, and even that will be passed out with VoLTE. The XT1095 supports most of Verizon's LTE bands, so in principle data service is possible. The way Verizon has their data network set up, though, it is not currently possible due the need for specific services to be activated on the network, and good luck convincing Verizon to activate a non-Verizon phone.

I never said that it would stop you from getting LTE. However, if you are on Verizon, you need CDMA radios for your phone to work reliably as a phone. LOTS of places around my town have spotty Verizon LTE signals. Where I grocery shop, at the mall, inside my favorite restaurant - I drop down to 3G.
This is a common problem for many of us on Verizon's network as Verizon's network was constructed for the 850mHz CDMA to work well in terms of tower spacing. The spacing b/t Verizon's towers by and large is too far apart for LTE coverage to be great everywhere.
You are going off on a tangent - you can't have decent phone service on Verizon and not have a CDMA radio even if you could get the phone activated. And Verizon ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT WHITELIST A PHONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CDMA RADIO. WON'T HAPPEN SO IT IS RIDICULOUS TO EVEN SPECULATE ABOUT IT. And no whitelisted IMEI means no authentication to the Verizon network and no VoLTE/HD Calling. You could use the Hangouts dialer but you couldn't place an HD call through Verizon's VoLTE service.

i9505G - Google Edition on AT&T -- LTE Working?

The title almost says it all.
Anybody out there with the Google edition running on AT&T have LTE speeds working?
Here in the Atlanta metro area, we are supposed to have LTE on AT&T, but the phone HSPA connects with only about 1Mb down and 0.1Mb up speed tests
How do we make sure the phone is ready to work on AT&T LTE? AT&T rep says "check settings" ..... ummmmmmm she probably has an iPhone.
Does your current data plan actually support LTE? Have you had an LTE phone previously?
It usually only comes down to 2 things.
1) APN settings. You can verify by going to Settings (she was right, sort of), More (under Wireless & Networks), then Mobile Networks and APNs. You should be using one named AT&T LTE with an APN name of just "phone".
2) Make sure your data plan specifically says 4G LTE for Smartphones. If it doesn't say LTE, you need to get AT&T to change it.
I've used this app in the past on AOSP roms and such, and it works great.

That's a load of ****. Did you call or go to a store? I suggest going to a store. And if you can, make sure its a proper corporate store (and not a random reseller or something).
Mine works fine on T-Mobile LTE. As understand at&t and T-Mobile use the same AWS technology for LTE, just different spectrum.

Did you just swap your sim from one phone to another?
I am curious because on another forum LTE is not working.
Your phone has the LTE icon in the status bar?
thanks
Had the same issue yesterday when I received the phone. Spent an hour at the att store swapping Sim cards, changing imei numbers and trying different apns. Finally did a factory reset and it worked. We felt stupid. Not sure if thats the case with yours but give it a try.
EDIT
Also came across another thread with the same issue and another person said they had to change the IMEI on the account to a demo model. We also did the same with mine just before the reset. Here's the quoted text.
Solved. I went to the ATT store copied down the IMEI of a demo LTE phone. Called support, gave them the IMEI and that allowed them to add an LTE plan.

Thanks everybody for the replies.
We tried all sorts of APN settings, but there seems to be a larger issue here causing problems on many or all Google Edition S4 phones on AT&T's network, and that is the IMEI numbers of these Google Edition phones register with AT&T as not supporting LTE and therefore AT&T's data plan doesn't have LTE enabled for those devices. Many owners of Google Edition phones are having this issue, and are solving it by getting the IMEI number in the system to register as a demo with slightly different numbers. Not all people with Google Edition phones are having this issue, because they are just using a SIM card from a previous AT&T phone that was already properly registered with LTE capabilities.
Seems like AT&T just isn't ready for these new Google Edition phones, and the customer service reps are not usually tech. savvy enough to figure this out.
I might add that I myself am on the T-Mobile network (this post was for my friend on AT&T), and I generally get LTE speeds in excess of 30Mb down and 20Mb up here at work where I get 3 out of 4 bars of signal. In the AT&T store nearby, I got 2/4 bars signal and my speed tests still beat the pants off the demo model AT&T had, which got 3/4 bars signal. I say this because I am paying only $100/month for unlimited everything on TWO 4GLTE phones with T-Mobile, while my wife was paying $120/month for the same with AT&T for only ONE phone. The way AT&T garners exclusive deals on phone model variants that we should all be able to purchase and jacks up the prices of service to double that of the competitors, it's time for people to jump ship and force them to become more competitive.

I'm in the same boat. My previous phone (Galaxy Nexus) was not LTE-capable, so after getting a new SIM card for my new i9505g, it's only connecting at HSPA speed. Online chat with AT&T rep wasn't very fruitful. They are saying that the phone is showing up as "unrecognized device" and is causing the issue, and there's nothing they can do about that.
I am about to take a trip to an actual store to see if they have more knowledgeable staff there. Any tips or tricks (or super-secret handshakes) I should know about while talking to them?

Yeah put your sim in an LTE capable att device, have them add the imei and you'll get the LTE plan. You should be good after that. Othwerwise, have them add a dummy imei or one from a display phone. Good luck at the store as this will probably blow their mind.:good:

finally got LTE on AT&T
Hey all! I have been scouring the internet trying to get my LTE to work for the past two days I have used every APN I could find as well as downloaded ther notification toggle app to try to enable LTE.
at one point I did have a LTE data plan but I guess not anymore...
anyways I went on the my att.com account and I somehow got to two different technical support chat windows. The first time I gave him my real IMEI# from my I9505G and he couldn't add the LTE plan because it was not recognized as an ATT phone. I then got a friends ATT phone she is no longer using that has/had LTE on it and after telling me it didn't work, then finally on the third time using 'technical support' she didn't ask for any IMEI number at all just told me it worked.
(I think it was the live chat I found on the support section of my AT&T or something) I am only mentioning this because of the three times I was on live chat I got one texct survey this morning (I was on live chat last night 3x)
I gave all 1's out of 10 (worst possible) but mentioned the chat person was friendly and that I was just unhappy with AT&T.
AT&T then called me this afternoon about the survey and asked if I wanted them to fix the issue..... Was this a real question?
I said yes and now I have LTE working great using the default phone APN that was on the phone from the factory.
Hope this helps some ATT users!!!

Has anyone had the chance to test it on other networks? I know it should work on T-Mobile with lte, but I'm debating whether to hold out a month for a international model, in hopes of it having the right lte bands for T-Mobile and no vzw bloat. Or a dev edition. Anyone else on the same boat?

It is impossible to purchase this phone without activating it on the Verizon network, which means you will need a contract or someone on a Verizon contract willing to activate it for you.
They will not let you buy the phone at retail and walk out of the store without activation. I have already tried, multiple ways. I do, however, have an active AT&T SIM and could perhaps try it. But I'd rather not.
Rumor is that Motorola has AT&T and T-Mobile versions on the way, be patient.
Yes I put my ATT sim in the phone.
It comes up with a warning that the sim card you're using is not from Verizon.
You can dismiss it and notice that you will see AT&T instead of Verizon Wireless at the bottom of the home screen.
The data icon shows 3G but speeds are more like HSPA+ speeds.
Voice and SMS not a problem.
I did not try sending a video in a text though.
APNs can be set and even after I did I did not see a 4GLTE icon.
Interestingly enough when I was done and put the Verizon SIM back in, the AT&T APN settings I put in earlier were completely gone, only the Verizon one was showing.
If TMO has a version that would be the one to get as they most likely will NOT have a locked bootloader AND you can walk out without activating at all, just pay cash or charge it, etc.
I have a friend with a TMO and give the associate that number and name on the account and tell the associate it's a gift.

You must be in an area that only has band 17 LTE for AT&T. This phone has band 2 and 4 LTE for AT&T and they are unlocked straight from verizon.
I am very interested in this phone but i will wait for the GSM version that will include band 17.
Since it is a Snapdragon phone I'm sure you can QPST unlock all the band. I did it on my G3 pretty painless but you can really mess some things up if you are not careful

Yes, HSPA+ is really 3G+ same difference. 3G=HSPA .'4G' = HSPA+

I agree, my carrier is Sprint. With my old device a note 3 it has dual antennas making simultaneous voice and data possible on 4g lte. Now with Sprint Spark it not possible with a single antenna device. Do you know by chance if the v20 is a dual antenna device?
Not sure about the single sim version, might work on the dual sim one, at least I can have 4G+3G or 3G+3G simultaneous
Works will AT&T. I know for a fact, just used both Simultaneous an hour ago
Tmo and att have volte for sure
Any GSM carrier will be able to do voice and data at the same time. It's the CDMA carriers that will be up in the air if they will be able to or not.
I can confirm the Verizon V20 does voice & data at the same time due to the voice over LTE. I haven't had that functionality since the HTC Thunderbolt when 4G first came out years ago
I've been running the V20 for 8 days now and LOVE it. Now if only we can find a way to exploit the locked bootloader.

All Verizon lg v20 have voice and data at the same time. You can be on a phone call with LTE speeds.
I had sprint years back and hated them because my music streaming would stop and load. Then, another spotty sprint area, my music would stop again and load. Hated that.

has anyone with a sprint v20 been able to verify if this does work? my sprint note 4 does not have this, but my previous Sprint S4 did have it. I am hoping the Sprint v20 has it.
Thanks,
JD
Until they introduce VoLTE on Sprint no Sprint phone that has all of the LTE bands in it will be able to do simultaneous voice and data and VoLTE is not a priority for Sprint right now. So you either gotta move back to something like the Note 3 and get less LTE coverage or leave Sprint to get what you want.

Mine does, but only when connected in 4G. And I believe advanced calling needs to be activated for it to work.
To echo above, the simultaneous works fine on the V20, even stock out of the box with no changes, but you have to be in a 4G LTE area to do it. If you drop to 3G, you lose that ability. Pretty sure it was the Thunderbolt that last had the option to do both in a 3G area , as was mentioned earlier. Only thing that I haven't tested, is switching. And by that, I mean, if you're in a 3G area on a call, and enter a 4G LTE coverage, if it'll pick that up while within the call, or if you have to hang up before it will switch over. My S6 wouldn't do it, and I really don't expect the V20 to either. Probably something with how the data is "turned off" in a manner when the call is made, so it probably isn't even actively hunting for a data signal until the call is over. I live in an area where I bounce between nothing, 3G, and 4G on my way to work, so I always had to make sure to toggle airplane mode off and on if I was just coming out of a spot where I was still picking up 3G but knew there was 4G there, so the phone would grab the better signal coming in, and then make my phone call to keep the data. So far, the V20 seems to be a touch quicker than my S6 was in the 3G/4G switchover though.

sprint lg v20 unlock successfully but connect and disconnect from network constantly

Is anyone having this issue? I recently got a lg v20 sprint unlocked and the cellular signal drops constantly, it says "NO SERVICE every 3 seconds" then connects back to my mobile carrier.
anyone knows how to fix this? I know for sure it can't be a hardware problem because the phone is relatively new.

That's a side effect of using a sprint phone on a different network. It all determines the carrier and area. Never buy a sprint phone with full intentions of it fully working on a different network. For me AT&T would do it. T-Mobile wouldn't.

okay thanks for the response. hmmm not what should I do with the phone?
What is the SIM card that you have inserted in your phone? If it's gsm one, it will not work.
Sprint is a CDMA network and even if you unlock a device from them, you will have issues using it on other networks.

Dude, this is so incorrect I've been using a domestic Verizon note 5 for the past 6 months on the gsm network by only changing the apn for data. Pretty much every flagship carries all the bands to reduce manufacturing costs it's just a matter of accessing them through the software.

Sprint locks it down software wise. Verizon does Not. So Verizon variant most wouldn’t have an issue. Even though with older phones like the S5 and G4 (only ones I’ve tested Verizon wise) service was unreliable in fringe areas as they would all the time go in and out of service, but only in fringe areas.
It depends. A lot of sprint models miss bands that Several GSM carriers use weather it be WCDMA or LTE
But generally 99% of people trying to use a Sprint device on a GSM network are gonna have an issue. While Verizon it’s probably less than have that will have an issue if even that.

I have a Sprint unlocked V20 and this phone was DSU (Domestic SIM Unlock) by Sprint to work on domestic GSM carriers and I tried using this with an AT&T card and it worked fine. Have you gone into Network settings and set the prper APN settings for your phone? Also are the bands supported in your area?

Umm...just flash the US996 Unlocked version of the Weta Rom....if you can or course (Bootloader unlocked) I have a Sprint V20, works perfect on T-mobile, and pretty much any SIM. It's not terribly hard to do, just dig through these forums for help.
Hello, I like what I'm reading but after trying to find what you are referring to I am at a loss. Can you please explain how you did what you did to get your V20 operable? Please......

I'm guessing your refering to the sprint model? It's unreliable unless your using it on sprint. It's not worth it honestly unless you got the phone for free.

Yes, it's a Sprint phone. I had it unlocked and the signal comes on weak...then goes away. I've tried everything to get it to be stable but at a loss. I did pay for the phone so it's quite irritating.

I value your opinion on other things but your information here is incorrect. I have successfully used a Sprint LG V20 unlocked by Sprint here locally on GSM networks as well as outside the US. It could be an issue with APN settings or selecting a proper network.
The Sprint V20 has enough band support for domestic GSM bands and I have first hand experience with it. It could be that the particular V20 could be faulty?

It’s not the band support that is the issue. And it’s not just the V20. In fringe/lower coverage areas it’s a pain to maintain a stable connection. I’ve seen this with both the G5 and V20. It makes it unusable. It also occurs on older Verizon devices as well like the S5 and G4 as an example.
It’s mostly a software issue that causes it. APN is data related and wouldn’t cause signal issues.
When I had a sprint G5 for my 2nd line, I go into city limits where coverage was good would almost work perfectly. Go home in a fringe area might as well pop the sim In a flip phone lol.

That is true with Sprint coverage anywhere lol. (my local Walmart sells Boost mobile phones, even though we have ZERO sprint coverage) But in a fringe area on AT&T as an example the signal will drop in an out constantly. While any other phone will hold onto the signal perfectly fine and never drop and work perfect one 1-2 bars of signal.
I guess by fringe I mean a lower signal area not exactly fringe to the point of no service.
And there’s plenty of posts of Sprint G5 unlocked users that have the same problem.

Voice and Data simultaneously on Sprint.

I have the Moto G7, I previously had it on MetroPCS and now on Sprint.
When I was on Metro I was able to do voice/data at the same time but Sprint says this phone isn't capable of this. Granted Metro is GSM and Sprint is CDMA so that may make a difference, but from what I've read VoLTE is working with Verizon on the G7. I've explained to Sprint that the phone itself is capable but I'm not getting any further than that. I tried *#*#4636#*#* and I'm unable to change the flag for LTE Provisioned on this menu. Is there anyway to make changes in this menu that are currently grayed out?
So, is there any type of work-around to get VoLTE working with Sprint or is this something I can only wait for Sprint to address...which will probably never happen?

I believe it is a Sprint specific issue and has been the case since the beginning. Sprints CDMA does not support voice and data at the same time. I don't think it has anything to do with the phone end of things.

Thanks for the reply.
Sprint does support voice/data now, although it's only for certain devices that I guess they decide can use the feature. They're really odd about what they let use VoLTE though. For example I have a co-worker with a Samsung Note8 and he turned on VoLTE and can now have Voice/Data together. Another co-worker with a Samsung S9 can't turn on VoLTE at all like with my phone. So I'm not sure what they're basing the compatibility on.
