first, I simply list the ZEN 2 compares the difference with ZEN 5 feelings
1.1080P screen becomes super nice (I used the phone to see the movie was really cool ~
2.RAM more large, do not worry enough (you can get rid of the habit of clearing RAM ~
3. Fast charging speed is really super fast, this is very easy to save time (but fast charge is really a bit later added that enthusiasm ~ ~
4. super loud horn loud (louder to put me in the room feel quite noisy -
5. The back shell will not stick fingerprints (except the screen one less place to rub; P
6. Standby time becomes longer (since the launch of the original offer of APP management Chaohaoyong ~

The same parts, but the fast charge charger transformer upgrade 9V ~
The concentric circles made no finer the screen attached to the uneven generation problem ~
Protector hesitated for a long time and finally I choose 2.5D Glass Sticker ~
Glass Sticker spend NT $ 100
Intel Atom Z3580 inside
I found the back cover with matte imitation Hairline, it will not stick fingerprints:good:
Antutu best results,48981 ~
M9 will be published before the beta to see high scores, but in the end plate or because it will overheat, with a reduced frequency to solve the overheating problem, and then decreased frequency performance is lower than Zenfone2

Fast charge 1 minute/Fast charge 10 minute
You can see the temperature control was good, running 10 minutes maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees C GFXBench
Play games temperature about 30 to 40 degrees C

But this added into the fast-charge, battery charging 50% or less, 9V fast charge current at high temperature will affect soared to 40 degrees C
(time-temperature/battery)
In the use of mobile phones when fast charge 9V temperatures soared to 49 degrees C, this is not ideal
Phone standby time is better 9V fast charge

Zenfone 2 has triaxial sensor after, Google Cardboard boxes VR headset can also be used
But some would APP flash back (Cardboard beginning of), FBRUM basically can play without problems
Camera
The upgrade also great pixel camera, with large aperture camera in AUTO mode becomes very high success rate
And join the M-mode is really useful, I can not go back
Ultra-high-resolution mode (four times the resolution, the use of multiple shooting synthetic way up to 13 million pixels had become the highest number of 52 million painting)
This mode is very suitable stand tripod to take pictures
Zenfone 2 performance is very good and very cheap, this C / P value is very high~You'll love it ~

Greetings and thank you for your very detailed unboxing and review on your Zenfone 2 unit, it's great to have you here! I've purchased and have (indirectly) received my 1.8GHz/2GB RAM/32GB ZE551ML model today and so far it's working well.
I don't physically have it yet as my brother in Florida collected and is sending it to me when possible. However, from the feedback of other Zf2 owners I know it's an exceptional device and is definitely worth purchasing any model.
There has been only one major issue with the 4GB ZE551ML variant, as reported by respective owners, and that's the short battery life due to high consumption. Have you and other Taiwanese people experienced this as well, and is Asus aware of this and other bugs?
I suspect that it's actually the Android 5.0 software since we know there's a memory leak that has been addressed in later versions. Regardless, many international owners are disappointed with this and personally I don't blame Asus as the device itself is fantastic. Thanks for anything you can share on this.

I live in Dallas and own the 4g 32gb from Taiwan on At&t. Had it for a week now and battery consumption depends on how you use it and what network are you on mostly. If the phone keeps looking for Lte signal it'll drain your batt. If it keeps looking for WiFi signal even if WiFi is off it'll drain. Auto light it'll drain. 5.0 with me leak it'll drain. And constant fetching notifications it'll drain. I really can't complain with it being quad core and 4gb of ram on at all times its to be expected. Here is my batt consumption for today. This is calls, text, forums, Internet, Bluetooth, Pandora, and Spotify.

You should be getting more than 3 hours of screen on time though. I do see that you have pretty terrible signal, but still. Android OS shouldn't be using the most battery, but unfortunately it does. Battery and screen brightness in sunlight are the reasons I got rid of it.

Nice post, lots of info.

The signal is because it's always looking for Lte. I'm inside most of the time so it doesn't really affect me.

ncie review! lots of info! do you know if the 720p ze550ml camera is the same as the one on the ze551ml?

Is it easy to change the battery? Do you just have to remove the simcard/microsd panel and then disconnect the battery? or it's more complicated?

Samsung i9000 Galaxy S ~ Battery Type

Guys,
I've been following the Galaxy S forum over at hardwarezone.com and one topic that's struck up is to do with the type of battery the Asian guys are finding in their phones.
The Asian release seems to have the G7 Battery, whereas the one that GSMArena reviewed and gave a high 7hrs 25mins video time was a G9.
It will be interesting to hear what type will be shipped to the rest of the world.
As and when you get your phone can you please post the battery info.
Here's a pic of the one from GSMArena

Thanks Beard for opening a thread. In regards to the battery, below is the information printed on the battery.
EB575152VU
1500mAh
5.55Wh (printed next to the 1500mAh)
S/N: AA1Z512oS/5-B
生产日期 (Meaning Date of manufacture) 2010-05-12
G7
The position of the above is similar to the above image, except with the additional 5.55Wh printed on.
Regarding the battery life, a number of us do experience short battery life. However this is very subjective, for the reasons that each one perception of short or long is difference, and each one's personal usage pattern is different. But one thing I am pretty certain, whatever GSMArena had tested, we here will not be able to replicate the same results.
Therefore, I will be very interested to know how the rest of the countries, US, Europe, or even the Middle East will have in the battery.
I hope users could share their information over here.
Many thanks g00ndu. Again appreciated.
I also left you a 'Thanks' in the AndroidForum.

De GS does 418 minutes (=7 hours) in that test. With the following settings:
In our customary battery life test, we play back in a continuous loop a test video encoded at 240 x 320 resolution under the following conditions: 100% screen brightness and volume and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth active, with push email or data being pulled from the network at regular intervals.

So thats the second source stating that de battery life is good. Those bad comments from singapore are all from new batteries, they need to be charged about 5 times to reach their full capacity.

Perhaps so, what was played is a 240x320 video. I wonder if we can maintain the same length of time if a HD video is played.
Besides, usage for each one varies, and still there is a subjectivity in the test. The tendency of playing with a new phone (especially I'm a noob in android phone) will be a lot more. I'm still keeping my finger crossed here, though. Haha, worst case scenario, I can always get a backup battery, unlike some fruity phones I know.
Please do share the information whoever has the phone.
It's just a placebo effect. There's no difference.
hmmmm.. battery ohh battery.. why are you so.. hehehe
in reality the battery life of Galaxy S is not so great.
wish samsung or 3rd party will produce or manufacture high capacity battery for the phone.. hmmmm.. like seidio (innocell) for example.

yup yup.. hopefully in the near future.
have you tried draining your battery then charge it fully 5 times.. not in one go.. read information online where they say that you need to charge it 5 times to fully get the battery working at 100% capacity.
Yes, I'm not sure how GSMArena got hold ogf that G9 battery.
Mine too is a G7.
Mine is G7 and ordered from the UK.
Mine is g7 as well.
G7 too, from Handtec. I have found that over several months of using my HD2, about the same average usage, the battery life does seem to have improved. So I'm expecting better results from this one over time.
Here (The Netherlands) also G7
First: Whats the difference between "G7" and "G9"?
Second: I don't understand the problem. (Referring to the initial post: "The Asian release seems to have the G7 Battery, whereas the one that GSMArena reviewed and gave a high 7hrs 25mins video time was a G9.")
gsmarena test:
we charged the Galaxy S until it said full and looped a standard definition XviD video with the screen brightness set to 50% until the battery level fell to 10% (beyond that point the handset automatically turns off the video player and doesn’t allow restarting it)

Different testing conditions, different results...
I claim that even the content of the video itself will play a significant role. AMOLED uses less power for darker scenes and most for very bright scenes. So it's something different if I play a horror movie or a comedy.
All in all: Is there a real difference between G7 and G9 or did you just claim it cause of the different results?
Anything special about the "G8" battery version? Found it here (it's number 67 in the list):

No idea, that's why I asked what batteries others were getting so that we could then ascertain the differences.

I was not suggesting there was a problem and I'm not that bothered myself about these test either.
All I want to try and achieve is:-
a) Are there two batteries (G7 & G9)
b) If there are indeed two batteries, is there any differences in both performance and hot running.
@beards
I agree
My battery is also a G7, and my phone was bought in Scandinavia.
my Vodafone UK 16gb GS came with a G7, it doesn't last a full day
**update**
After charging for around a week, it now lasts a lot longer, i can get a full day of normal use ie. a few phone calls a few texts, browsing the internet for around 30 mins and some application use.

Show your battery record Genuinely

Hi guys,
After buying s2 i was worried about battery life. Because first two days it was like 12-14 hours of medium use.
But now its marathon :d
See some shots..

I thought i was getting good battery life with medium to heavy usage (27 hours) on Cognition 1.15 but that is exceptional, can you tell me your set up as to how you achieved this amount of battery life.
cheers
Tegrak's kernel and underclocked.
Frozen samsung apps. and brightness mostly 0% as i am fairly fine with the lowest brightness it doesn't hurt my eyes.
also one more thing, i am using overclocking upto 1300 as well and you will be surprised most people will tell you to go underclock to save battery but i didn't and i am just happy with 1.3 Ghz blazing speed.
Here's a shot of running.

Also i used camera for recording movie for about 50 minutes in 720P and 50+ photographs as well which is not mentioned in the above post. I will post once again when my battery will reach 1% because when its below 10% it drops really slow and allows me to use it more unlike when its full.
Sit it on a desk and stare at it. The average screen on time is 5 hrs. You can use that in a day or spread it across 3 days.

One more thing, i only recharge battery when its below 5% or mostly under 2% to full turning it off. And ofcourse this only first week of using the phone, hope it will increase a bit more by next week.
[Note: I personally believe plugging in and out of charger makes the phone battery drop faster]

What ROM are you using?
I usually have brightness set to auto, same as you all Samsung apps frozen, am not using Tegrak i don't believe it's compatible with Cognition ROM, are you using Juice Defender Ultimate or other apps, etc, etc, im on setcpu im 200 min - 800 max - on demand and screen off profile - 200 min - 500 max - consertivave - priority 100.
Seriously impressive all the same..

That is the best battery life ive ever seen on XDA for any type of smartphone never mind one like the GS2, did you use the Internet/Wi-Fi/GPS/Bluetooth,etc, much,do you have any widgets on your screen, push e-mail,etc, im amazed your getting that amount of time without using Juice defender or some other similar app.

Bluetooth yes for 10 minutes transfering some files.
Gps yes for around 1 hour (you can see that in pics atleast it shows usage for ndrive there)
wifi yes around 1 hour but its always on mostly (mostly used for market to download and test applications, gmailing and also some browsing)
3g or edge no i didn't use it.
Games yes i played like drag race etc.
widget yes, battery widget and the running app widget and live wallpapers.
Mine, I think there's a little (big) problem :
Considering the first 8 hours were during the night so I didn't touch my phone :
Running on VR2.1, many things push or so (like 15/30mins refresh) [mails, fb, twitter, news, weather, etc], and good modem (KG2) and CF-Root 4.1.
Any idea/advice please ?
A better rom maybe ?
Thanks in avance

The real secret to great battery life is to disable all the data connections and not use the phone. Since most people are pretty active with their phones, threads about stand-by time are pretty meaningless. Actually, with over a dozen battery life threads already running, you could say new battery life thread are pretty meaningless too.

Ok thats along the lines of what I thought it was. Thanks.
Didn't know it was possible to change it, illigal. Huh
But can some one tell me where it is shown so I can block it if I ever post some screen shots?
I'm on stock K2-CL. I used 3G just a bit today while in a restaurant, wifi is always on, but I normally sit in front of the computer most of the day, or use my tablet at home, so I do very light surfing - mostly while on the can.
I've not installed "app freezers", nor underclocked the processor, nor rooted or removed anything that isn't stock android. Not stopping tasks in the task manager. In the screenshot below, I did play around a bit on Google Earth for 15 min or so, I'm surprised not to see the android market in there because I feel that's what I used most. I use a live wallpaper that's fairly bright (moving clouds).
Brightness on auto - automatic gmail notifications, contact syncs etc.
I'm going to go on a big trip next week, where electricity will sometimes be optional. I do have that Samsung battery case thinggie coming the mail next week - and already have an external battery as well for emergencies, because this phone will die in an hour or two using the gps, or playing games, or doing serious web surfing - or a combination of those things. It runs very hot too if you use it constantly several hours (drove 500 kilometers last week, the phone was very very hot - seemed unhealthy).
If you hold the power button along with the home button it takes a screen shot.
Thought id say to make it easier for ya in future!
thanks a millions
Don't mind the n00b Here.
Found the IMEI number in the status tab of about phone.
Goto remember to keep this out of public photos.

Battery life is pretty good for this size of device. You can set the power options to max power, optimized, battery savings, and my power mode. I have the tablet most of the time in my power mode with cpu on 50% and only 2 cores. You can still play games with it on this setting and the battery will just push this power house like its nothing. The stock charger that comes with it too is very fast at recharging the device (while not in heavy use)
Light use (couple youtube videos, little online poker, and news apps) yesterday got me 1day 2 hours and still at 80%. Note that is you are heavily gaming with gamestream or grid the battery will last about 5-6 hours on a full charge
Looking forward to what others are getting out of their battery
I get over 5 hours of heavy us out of it. Only issue is takes over 9 hours to full charge so far. I am trying to power cycle a few time now no change.

Thats some very nice results, looking forward to others result.
My results so far have been very promising. Running Trine 2 will get you about 3 hours of battery life. Running a demanding Android game like Asphalt 8 will get you 3+. Streaming games from your PC (which is what I bought it for) doesn't seem to use much juice at all and lasted me over 5 hours a session (played the Evolve Alpha, Skyrim, and Hearthstone). All those results are usung a Dualshock controller. Using the tablet to surf reddit and check email only got me down to 30% after a solid 2 days.
It's a good battery and the CPU is just as efficient as the newest Snapdragons. It's the GPU that can really drink the power and that's to be expected. It's a desktop class GPU. I've been impressed by the heat so far as well. I never felt any more than warmth. It's generally just room temperature. It seems they really do have the cooling optimized.
Shield tablet OTG Y charger and ethernet
I have not gotten any real answer on this subject but, the shield tablet will not charge when it is plugged into an OTG Y charger and the plug-able usb ethernet adapter at the same time. It will do them separately. I think it needs a software update just like the original shield portable required.
I am using the exact same adapters that work with my shield portable. I followed the website directions to plug all usb devices into the Y charger first and then plug it into the shield tablet. It will only charge. If I unplug the charger then the ethernet works but not both.
I can also report that the Xbox 360 wired controller for PC works GREAT with the shield tablet. No need to buy or install anything else just plug and plays great!

It took my tablet less then 6 hours to fully charged from 0-100% using the OEM charger.
BTW what's "MediaServer" it's taking up about 35% of my battery usage.

The problem most likely is the charger, some have reported the same on the nvidia fórum and an alternative charger solved the issue, if you can try another charger and it solves your issue just ask for a new one from nvidia directy. Will Save you the bother of setting UP a new tablet and possible new issues with the new one.
This thing held up for six hours straight of reading Manga (downloaded in advance). It's actually been about another hour since then of browsing and stuff and it's still at 28 percent. Man, I had my concerns at first but this has me decently surprised as to battery life.
Battery life is great! I'm not much of a gamer, I got this tablet because of the specs (Powerful) and am really happy, my only grumble is there's a little yellow in the whites not sure if a ota is going to fix this issue but if I have to live with it then I really don't mind, I had the nexus 7 flo, The touch screen was horrible at first but it was fixed first by a dev then a little while after that google fixed it with updates. I would highly recommend this tablet even if you are not much of a gamer! Its a great all round tablet with nvidia behind it makes me happy already have had a ota out of the box fixing a few issues and soon will be upgraded to android L a few weeks after android release it.

I really appreciate you took the time to give the time of reading manga and how long it can last, you se i am otaku, so thanks.
:good:
PS: Manga is not using so much power so if you could change to maybe powersaver you could maybe get alot more battery- juice out of it.

Yu just made my my day, if its getting "Android (FREAKING) L" i surley need to get this bad boy, btw thanks for the heads up.
The battery is ok so far. Some games are more demanding than others. Hungry Shark Evolution drains the battery in less than 2 hours with the screen at 70% here.
For everyday use i'm very pleased.
MRobbo80: Try to change the screen setting from sRGB to native. Helped with the yellowing whites here.
Hungry Shark Evolution?
That game drained it in two hours? That game should not have got the cpu and K1 even thinking of working hard. That seems Charles Barkley level 'turrible'.
That does not extrapolate well for gaming in general. I was more focused on the wifi and did not bother with games after seeing the wifi truly was very weak compared to my Air and Note 2014.
Added. Also way weaker than my Shield portable.

Happy but Disappointed :(

I ordered the ZF2 from NewEgg when it released in the US.
I now had it for 4 days and generally feel good about the upgrade from a Nexus 5, but there are some things that really bother me with this phone:
1. Heat. This phone seems to heat up pretty bad when charging and doing something on the phone. When I just got it and was doing updates connected to power it actually gave out an error saying it overheated and needs to shut down.
2. Capacitive buttons are laggy. It takes about a second to register the press of the home button along with back and recent buttons. The Nexus 5 onscreen buttons so much faster.
3. The Zen Keyboard is laggy. Had to download and install the stock google keyboard.
4. Benchmarks are weak. Highest I got was 45k on Antutu. I have seen others getting over 48k. Its a minor gripe as the general performance is really good.
5. The plastic ridge that surrounds the screen seems to be very weak. It already has dings in it. Very sad about this.
6. Camera is not compatible with Hypwrlapse or ManualCamera app. I hope that those apps get updated and start supporting ZF2.
7. I don't know what's going on with this battery. Maybe its the apps that I have. But it feels weak. Woke up today at 8am. Its 5:30 now. I'm at 38% with 2 hours and 30 minutes screen on time.

1. Mine barely gets warm, and I have yet to see it get as warm as my G2 yet. It gets warm during charge but every device heats up during that process. Temps jump between 3x-4x℃.
2. I'm not having this issue, so not sure what the cause is.
3. The keyboard is smooth like the LG keyboard, and seems just as responsive as my N9 was.
4. I have the 2GB, so 42K seems to be the ceiling in antutu.
5. I've had mine for roughly a week and there aren't any signs of use on it, such as dings.
7. With my 2GB variant I reach ~2.5-3hrs for SOT at roughly 65-50%. I charge the battery to 85/80% and end up with 4-5hrs for SOT consistently. For me Android OS is really hurting battery performance.
"I'd Totally Hug You, If That Was Something I Did"
Something is seriously wrong with the battery of Zenfone 2, 550 ml. It automatically comes down to around 30% in 8-10 hours, even without any active use at all!
i was one who got early units of 550 ml...mines is performing very well......i dont have any issues too what so ever based on your reports above...standby time for 7 hours only reduce to 4 % batterry consumption for me....return your unit if its got warranty so you can sleep better
The battery and 5.0 are a problem. I've had wifi turned off for the past 3 days and the battery app is still reporting that wif is using 20-25% of the battery. The saving grace is standby which is outstanding. Left it off charge all night and it lost 8% in 11 hours. Once I start to use the phone the battery dies very quickly.
Do the rom upgrade

I have the ZF2 which I bought at initial launch from ASUS France. I can tell that I don't have all the issues you are reporting.
1. The phone does heat when charging or making lengthy calls but it doesn't bother me since while charging it's normal and I don't make as many long calls but this has not happened since the last FW update.
2. The buttons are working alright. I haven't noticed any lags. If anything they are more sensitive for me. Takes a screenshot every now and then if I hold my recent app key for a fraction of a second.
3. I always used Google KB on all my android devices so again can't tell but initially I was using the ASUS KB and didn't face any major issues.
4. I haven't done any benchmarks so can't report on that yet.
5. No dings whatsoever. I am also using a case so I barely touch the device.
6. The device has to be supported by devs. I know that the beta Microsoft Hyperlapse does not support it right now but it should do once they add support for it.
7. Well battery has been a concern for most on this forum but with the last FW I am getting 5 hours of SOT with 4G enabled all day. That's not bad at all compared to 2.5 or ~3 hours when I first started using the phone so it has been optimized and if ASUS is serious about this device (I hope they are) then it should only get better.

Had the same issue with the capacitive buttons, did a factory reset and cleared the cache and they are now pretty much instantaneous when you press them.

Go to Wi-Fi Advanced Settings and turn off "scanning always available". That will fix the Wi-Fi consistently on even when turned 'off'.
There's at least a few threads similar to this one already going in this device section. Like this one...

Note 5 Battery Life

So far Day 3 of using the device on a normal workday. (It is officially released in Singapore on 15 August 2015)
Seems pretty well optimised!
No powersaving mode, normal use at the end of a typical workday, some calls, WhatsApp, text messages, games, etc.
Using the Scroll Capture btw.
Thanks for all the screen shots - it's sad that it's only gonna be 3-4hrs of sot. My note 2on stock battery and Cm12.1 gets 6-7 sot.....
Hopefully the note 5 gets better than your initial findings.....
Adidasfreak's numbers translate to about 4 hours SOT before dead... For me that is bare minimum acceptable, as I really like to keep my phone >25% in case I need the reserve.
I'll have to wait and see others results. 4 hours SOT isn't anything to brag about though.

Well here's mine. Much better
Even when you post battery data people still just ignore it. 50% remaining after 10 hours (3:45 SOT), averages of 17.5 hrs with 8.5 hours of SOT) is damn good by any measure.
I don't get all this negativity. OK. Maybe the SD card is real but you can't really dispute that it seems that battery life isn't something to complain about. For a group of technically adept users, I find this amazing. I swear reading all these posts is like reading transcribed rants of spoiled teenagers...
Phone Arena just did a comprehensive benchmark test on the Note 5s battery. Apparently, it really does outperform the Note 4. But by how much in real world usage, that's still debatable. At any rate I am a lot less worried about battery life on the Note 5. And, I got to play with the gold S6 Edge + and the beautiful titanium gray Note 5, today. Not as wowed as I thought I would be regarding feel, but they do look beautiful.

Yeah, I saw his results and was a bit underwhelmed
I think the only way I'll be able to decide is to just pick one up and eat the $35 return fee if it isn't good enough.

This is always my approach. I look at it like a "Try It Before You Buy It" fee that's refunded if you keep it.
Last year I actually added a third line to see if I really wanted to go back to Apple (had an S4) then cancelled the third line within the 14-day window once I convinced myself I wanted it...
...of course that was a failed notion since this POS has been slowly driving me mad ever since. Yes Mr. Jobs, I ONLY want to snooze for 9 minutes. Yes Mr. Jobs, of course I would NEVER want a keyboard that changes case to match what I'm typing. Mr. Jobs! Of course I wouldn't want to have free access to all that memory you graciously allowed me to buy at rediuculous prices as if it was a USB stick... :cyclops:

I really wish battery life was so obvious to compare, but it isnt. We are too smart here to fall for this. Battery life is extremely personal and nearly impossible to compare. "Normal day" usage... that's just funny. The best you can do is to compare consistent benchmark data.
Why don't you use a power bank in case the battery is getting low? The Note 5 battery life is not the best among others, but based on the benchmarks and users' reports, it is acceptable and not terrible.
I've never had a better battery. I hope it stays like this
Getting about the same since Monday evening. It charges freaking fast tho

The Note 5 battery is *brand new* vs almost a year old on the Note 4. Until that is considered, these comparisons are bullsh*t.

I already saw a comparison of a 1 month old Note4 vs a brand new Note5 and it was pretty much the same story.
Unless a 1 month old battery is going to be VASTLY worse than a brand new battery.
Also the Note5 SHOULD use less power than the Note4, they moved from 20nm SoC to 14nm, moved from LPDDR3 to LPDDR4 which runs at lower voltage (and faster), and the new display which is 18-23% brighter while using 20% less power.
So it really is no surprise the Note5 is getting better battery life with a smaller battery.
What about the fact that the Note 4 is running an older version of TouchWiz and an older version if Android as well? Was that considered?

Of course, but since they dont have identical builds we can't really compare it at the moment. But even on the newer OS I really doubt there is anything they can do about the inferior hardware of the Note4. The newer tech in the note5 just uses less power, hence the smaller battery with similar or better battery life than the Note4.

lol why bother trolling with ridiculous hypotheticals? Maybe we should pull out a Note 1 and demand a current version of TouchWiz and Android to make it a device lifespan comparison? Newer devices are built to accommodate advances in hardware as well as software so it's idiotic to demand comparisons like you're proposing. The reality is that once a new device is released the older ones lose priority for software updates and optimizations and you're rarely, if ever, going to get a true apples to apples comparison.
