Awesome info will help if we brick our phone

Unbrick Your Device
What is A Brick?
A Brick Usually Occurs when you Flash a Wrong Firmware on your device or you try to downgrade your bootloader. In both the cases if you see nothing but a blank screen and "qhsusb_bulk" when connecting to the computer (Check Devices and Printers on your PC) .
Prerequisites
Stock Moto E Firmware of your Choice
Motorola USB Drivers
MFastbootv2
Blanflash
RiffBox JTAG Drivers
INSTRUCTIONS
If you have A 64-Bit Processor you'll need to disable driver signature Enforcement. Press F8 while the computer is booting and then choose the option.
Go To Start and search for Device Manager
Plug in your Moto e
You'll See qhsusb_bulk
Now select update driver Software
Choose from the Riffbox Jtag Drivers.
Now you'll see Qualcomm HS-USB QLoader 9008
Unzip the motorola qboot utility and run blankflash.bat
Now Enter into fastboot from your Moto e
You can now flash the firmwares compatible with your bootloader version

Has already someone bricked and unbricked moto e here on XDA? I ask this because someone could try and see if works. With so many official versions this could happen, eventually. My luck I hasn't need do this, but is great information to have around.
Thanks.
Indeed, very helpful thread for moto e
It appears that the blankflash files from the first post is for a Moto G.
Moto E uses a different SOC (Snapdragon 200 MSM8210) and so I doubt the Moto G Programmer and Boot partitions for Snapdragon 400 MSM8x26 would actually work on the Moto E.

I'd like to think that the OP tested this himself before posting but anymore on xda you never know..
I may be wrong but I do think the moto g and e both share a diff soc however I "think" they have the same partition layout.
If not people may end up needing to do a few more tricks depending exactly on what the blanflash script/app is actually doing.

Programmer.bin inside blankflash.rar will NEVER work on a Moto E because it was RSA signed using Moto G (first gen) Private Keys.
Inside blankflash has support for 3 types of SOC for Moto G first Gen:
MSM8226
MSM8626
MSM8926
Motorola used different RSA keys for each SOC, that is why you have 3 types of programmer.bin and singleimage.mbn inside...
Moto G (2nd Gen 2014) and Moto E have different private keys used and keys are burned into SOC efuse during pre-production.
I know this because I have actual phones on hand and I am very much familiar with qualcomm 9008 "emergency download" procedure.
This will only work once Moto E signed progrmmer.bin will be leaked. For singleimage.mbn, it can be generated easily using a 128mb dump from a working phone via Rooted ADB "dd" commands.

So its the low-end/affordable G series for the year? I'm sure the method will be identical.

I've asked this before but from what people have told me if it's a differently designed phone. It cant be rooted the same way. Though they might not know what their talking about so if anyones willing to try it out with theirs and tell us if it works here's a guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/discussion-unlock-root-situations-please-t3122752
They are pretty identical, but one is an MTK, the G4c is a snapdragon 401.I bought the G4 to see if it's really more powerfull even if a lot of reviews says that 1GB of ram is not enaught to make a fast experience like a G4, but I don't trust MTK so much (and I knew that the MTK model has line problem), plus this is LTE.
Actually I bought it for the cameras, if a root won't be out soon I'll send it back and I'll go for the MTK one.
Sorry for the OT, but I'm pretty tired of the very low quality of my S3 Neo cameras, I'll do some test tomorrow, but even tonight I had some shameful camera lags with the S3 neo... :-/
Looks like I'm the only one with that phone...actually I'm waiting for root to test it, but if the LG backup app will do a good job maybe I will try it this week.
The Huge problem is that I like to "clone" my phones apps with titanium and have them all even in the secondary phone, and I can't do that there since no root.
I just will check cameras and lagginess I have a month to send it back to amazon, if no solution will be found I'll switch to the cheaper MTK one even if I HATE mtk...

It's scam, to get the app you must compile a questionary and the app is scam otherwise somebody would alredy have been linked it!
we are still stuck, maybe because it's just an european version? I bought it on german amazon, if somebody would tell me that cameras are identical I would send it back and get the cheaper one instead, but actually I don't trust MTK, specially for signal and GPS
Actually we can survive unrooting, for adaware and cerberus, but the internal memory is 3GB and I can'r even restore the 4,6GB backup made from lg 4G since the card can be formatted only with FAT32 :-/
And the worts part is that LG backup is a SINGLE FILE!!!! I will try with other apps, I use it a secondary phone to take so nice selfie (s3neo both cameras are crap....) so if someone know ow to fit a 4,6GB gile int he fat32 let me know.
I already googled, but no answers: it's an european model and looks like the great coocker are from USA or asia Have a nice holiay!

dude your G4 looks refurbished one.
probably LG Sprint version MB with other version Access I think.
Sprint version have Root Only. they doesn't have TWRP or any other recovery.
so don't mess with your G4.
Play safe....:fingers-crossed:
Brother I understand what you are saying but I just cannot look at a phone without TWRP or a Custom ROM...I'm even willing to pay more if someone can do it.
I suggest you check your IMEI, If it's null or unusual, I think you better not mess with it, or you'll likely get bricked.

[Petition] [Motorola]Release blank flash files for motorola devices

Hi ,
As we all know that there are a lot fo motorola devices which have got their gpt partition and bootloader corrupted due to some ota update , flashing , wrong flash etc, which reduced their device to a paper weight . Most of them(including me) were unable to reverse the corruption due to the lack of required files . It may take motorola simply 2-3 hours to release these files for almost all devices but they have chosen to stay silent and do nothing . It feels really bad to throw away your phone costing hundreds of dollars due to a minor corrpution which can be fixed easily by Motorola. Its time for us to speak , its time for us to ask for what we deserve . Motorola should listen to us !!
Sign this petition on Change.ORG with as many signs as possible so that we can get our devices back ! Please co-operate .
Maybe this havent happened to you yet but may be it will one day , we all need to come together and ask for what we deserve from Motorola. Sign the petition so that Motorola will hear our voices.:crying::crying:

By blank flash files I meant the files required for resurrecting partition and/or bootloader corrupted devices to flash the OS again . As in the process , we only flash the gpt and bootloader via qualcomm emergency download mode (9008 mode) it is callled a blank flash.
I remembered the time when petition for getting android n was signed by more than 2 lakh people but was of no use. Hope this time it works. Good work anyway.:good:

Yes . I remember that too . It was really heartbreaking for us to not to get the android n update thought we were capable of getting it (the g3 and g3te users). How as we know recently , motorola changed their mind and decided to update g4 plus to android O . So therefore if we can put pressure on them , we may be able to get the blank flash files from them . We just need to be together , no matter what if everybody , every motorola user comes forward maybe motorola will have to provide the files that may save thousands of devices.

This is an older thread and older post indeed, but for any interested members, I've amassed blankflash files for several older and newer Moto devices. For clarification, Motorola has never released a blankflash file in the history of their production of smart devices. Motorola states officially that releasing such files would compromise the security of their firmware, and would violate contractual agreements between Motorola and the branded carriers who market Motorola devices. Any blankflash files for Moto devices floating around on the internet were either leaked or were coded by skilled programmers.
For any members needing blankflash files, leave a comment wiry your model number and branded carrier (if any). I'll reply back as soon as possible and, if available, will post a link for the blankflash file.

So far, from what's been reported, Brazil, Russia, and Europe have all started receiving the Android 10 OTA for the G7....
I'm in the U.S, (which sucks because we're usually the last of the bunch to get Moto OTA's).. Nothing here yet...
From what I've heard, it should be here sometime between now and mid-July...
I'm a noob when it comes to android roleouts. Just got my G7 4/64 river. It's sitting at Pie w/ April 2020 Sec. Updates.
I am dying to unloc and root with the latest TWRP and Magisk.
My phone is a XT-1965-6 'International' Dual SIM...Lang is English and my location is Eastern US, if it matters.
Will unlocking and rooting bork my ota Security Updates? If so, can I just say screw it and flash the latest '10' ROM
and do manual security updates as they come?
Also....I use TracFone 'bring your own phone' and my SIM is still in my Moto G5+...btw TF uses AT&T in my regeon.
SO...Do I need to contact TF and req. a SIM just for my new G7 or can I just pop it in and go?
Sorry for any noob-ish questions...ya gotta start somewhere!
my new G7 or can I just swap it over?
SIM swapped ok...next is unlocking the bootloader...fingers crossed! Do I want the matching 'retin' Stock ROM or should I use the 'retail' for the XT-1962-6 'International' version? What's the diff between 'retin' and just 'retail' ?

Be careful flashing stock ROMs. You want to always be sure to be using the same stock ROM that came with your phone.
(I think IN is a country code, not International...I could be wrong tho.)
Best of luck. Always make backups! Any good ROM dev puts that as one of the first steps...listen because they are wise!

Yeah...RETIN = Retail India
I'll be using an exact bld. #s matching signed stock ROM ofc. I've recently unlocked my Moto G5+ and with the gracious assistance of a kind soul, I was able to get TWRP flashed, followed by a flash of the latest Majisk...ofc there's a few steps in between. Afaik and been told, rooting of the G5+ is pretty similar to the G7...the biggest differences being the the G7 is a 64bit and also handles the default encryption a little differently. That being said, I'm gonna make/keep a thread as I work thru the process of making a basic outline of the steps...then with the help of knowledgeable members and staff, go thru and fill in the exact details for each step...fingers crossed !!

I do believe that's mostly correct, because the partitions seem to be roughly the same BUT, theres a post under the G7 category that is titled something like "TWRP for moto g7"
If the G5 also has a/b slots then yes, you should be fine however I'd still look for the correct TWRP feed to ensure that you are using the correct one for this dev. One of these posts about a custom ROM had included a version of copy-partitions zip called copy-partitions-payton zip, DO NOT USE this one. This device is river, not payton, so when I was using that on my previous device, also a G7, it missed partitions during my backup that later proved to be a headache. If you need a link to follow for either unofficial TWRP or the correct copy-partitions, let me know. Goodluck!
I have updated my G7 to Android 10 (RETUS)
I feel like G7 is reborn after update.
It's full ROM update through LMSA and wiped everything to avoid any possible problem.
True dark theme for all applicable apps
Cam has improvement and it has much less noise
Dolby Audio can be disabled with USB C digital headphones and audio is great
Screen color temperature turned slightly blue-green (it was reddish tone)
You may notice a brief screen flash when it turns the clock off
18 watts USB PD charging stays unchanged
So far I am pretty happy with Android 10 update
