CM development started - MONEY COLLECTION TO BUY TESTING DEVICE - Honor 6, 6 Plus General

Dear community,
recently we've spoken to Codeworkx, recognized senior developer, and he agreed to try to build CM for Honor 6. I think it's a GREAT NEWS!
The only problem is that he does not have handset for the testing, which is a must!
So, I am asking all of you interested in CM for Honor 6, and I have seen there are many of us, to collect the money, so Codeworkx can buy a handset for the purpose of the testing.
The easiest way is to send him your donations via his paypal account, you can see details under his profile.
As soon as he collects enough money he would let us know.
Yeah, it is based on trust guys. Please do not forget he does it in his spare time, not asking any reward for that...
@codeworkx, is that fine with u?

What if the money we donate doesn't match the price of the handset?
Will the money be returned to us or @codeworkx will keep them for other project or for himself (no offence codeworkx ) or he will constribute money too, in order to buy the device? In my singature there is a list of "safe" shops to buy from and a comparison of the for the H60-L02 version. These are some logical questions and I have no intention to insult anyone.

@RomanosN you're right.
I'd like to start a fundraising campaign but now the better way should be to continue to donate by PayPal.
Only 2 recommendations:
- please write how much you donate (even if 1$) in order to improve donations and make public how much we have collected. We can also post a countdown
- don't forget we can also support other developers' work (like spanorg's one), or find new devs who likes to develop for h6.
OK?

The differences between L02/12 and L04 are very few so maybe it will possible to port the CM to L02/12 too...

If that helps in any way, I'm trying to sell mine (good as new) for €250. It may help as it's cheaper than a brand new unit, and I don't need it since I have another phone anyway.
Just adding some info: its bootloader is already unlocked, CWM recovery installed and rooted too.

Athena Project moving forward... Now with Donation list!

Hi all.
Been in discussion with the others and apphoen will transfer the funds to me this week. We will (if all goes to plan) be buying either 1 Ameo (near new for £425.00) with 12 months guarantee from a shop (known very well to myself - have done a lot of business with them). I say near new because the Unit is not in an unopened box from T-Mobile, but as far as I know it is in great condition (I will inspect and test it myself thoroughly ).
As the Euro fund stands at around 790 or thereabouts, this only equates to around £531. Not a great start for the next device, but at least the development on a CID/Sim unlocker can begin.
Unfortunately as you are all well aware, in order to get the 2nd device for our ROM cooker Midget, we will have to raise more money as we may have to pay full price (worst case scenario), but I will try within the same shop (franchise) to see if they have other units at their other branches across the country. They had an X7500 a month ago, but I didn't pay much attention as we hadn't started the project.
I prefer to deal with an establishment with a 12 months guarantee and a place I can physically take any potential device back to, if the need should arise. E-bay is great, but personally I like to buy expensive equipment from places where I can return it in person should I need to.
Any objections?
If not, we may have our first Unit this week. As I said...Blow the original supplier with his cheap prices...he was a time-waster and our contributors wasted no time in donating to this cause, therefore it is only right that we don't allow anyone else to hold up progress.
So thanks to all contributors thus far, apphoen, boinger66, ltxda, Midget, Olipro and others who I have neglected to mention. Thanks for your dedication and and hard work. We'll get it done.
Meanwhile you can contribute to the new paypal account which I setup a week ago or so..it's verified and good to go. Why another one, you ask?
Because I'm based in the UK and so are the developers. So I can quickly purchase a device and send off to the devs as soon as I get a Unit (same day special delivery). No other reason. Another contributor can take this responsibility on if there are any objections. But if there are none....you can count on me to do my best for the benefit of us all.
Between apphoen, boinger66 and myself, we are finalizing the mailing system...been a long time coming, I know. But once established it will serve us well in keeping all contributors updated about progress and also any problems developers might face.
Anyway...that's enough waffle from me.
I'll be in touch.
Please don't PM me unless it somehow contributes to the project...just until both devs have their units. It takes me a long time to answer all these PM's and not all are relevant to what we are trying to achieve. I need to stay focused as I have to work for a living too. Hope no one takes offense to this...it's not intended to.

Cool.....let's Rock and Roll!!!
A bit slower than hoped for, but no more than 5 days
OK thanks for your support guys. Funds should now hit my account within 5 working days or sooner and I'll get straight to it...no delaying.
Got another member willing to sell his brand new Insurance replacement Ameo...just trying to come to an agreement on best price.
Either way..as soon as I'm in receipt of the funds, 1 Ameo will be sent off within an hour of buying it. (Will test it first though ).
Still need more donations people, nothing has come through as yet.
If you guys feel more comfortable in donating direct to Midgets paypal account (in his signature), let us know here, that is no problem for me This means he can get one directly as he's next in line for a device after our CID/Sim unlocker 'OliPro'. It's all been discussed and agreed with the devs, as we need these solutions before any cooking can take place.
Let me know peeps...I'm not that hot with paypal stuff anyhow.
It's coming along but we need donations please, to make it come together.
Hi all.
Been in discussions with some of the others including our developer Midget_1990. We agree that it is best for future donations to go straight to Midget's paypal account, but he will set up a dedicated account just for this purpose...to get one Ameo/Advantage or Dopod.
Sorry about mucking you all about, but as there haven't been any donations since the last announcements, it will be easier to donate directly to him. If he can't get a Unit cheap enough, he will transfer the funds back to me to buy him an Athena through the contacts built up through this community or my personal channels. Either way things are moving forward for sure.
Not much else to say right now except that I'm liaising with a few peeps out there for devices and we'll let you know when we've actually got one.
No we haven't forgotten the list at all, it's just that everyone's so busy with work that it hasn't all come together as yet...but it will, especially where it counts most of all...development progress.
P.S. Please be assured, absolutely no-one is benefiting personally from this in any way except when we all share in the end result of this venture.

Funds are here...
OK all. Funds are cleared in my account £522.98
We're giving the waste of time supplier one more opportunity to come up with the goods and report something positive today, by 2.00 P.M. GMT, else the purchase of another Ameo will be going ahead...no more time-wasting!
Thanks for your patience all and please keep contributing. So far we will have a minimum of £180.00 towards the 2nd Athena if original supplier (with cheapest prices) falls through again. This is based on the remainder of funds with me after a purchase of £400.00 and including contributions Midget has already received.
So either way, we are on target. We'll keep you informed. There will be an update later today.

Interested in Android 5.0/Official CM? Support & Donations needed- P600 Model

17 November 2014: Goal has been reached and tablet is now in the hands of RaymanFX. Still feel free to support and donate to help him continue to prepare for his upcoming works. You can see his progress at github.com/raymanfx and
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/q/status:open+exynos,n,z
Under Christopher Hesse
Hello everyone,
I am creating this thread on behalf of @RaymanFX , a recognized developer who needs a device to develop for us.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3463426
He is looking to develop for the P600, WiFi only model and is looking to make AOSP/CM roms and kernels for us.
Here is a previous thread of his: http://forum.xda-developers.com/find-7/orig-development/rom-teameos-revival-nightlies-t2826587
And here is a list of previous threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=319162976
Quote by RaymanFX:
most of you probably don't know me since I did not develop for Samsung devices for quite some time now.
I would be interested in aiding the Exynos 5420 development scene (in particular on the Galaxy Note 10.1) and prepare a custom Android distribution for it (Team EOS 5.0 - Lollipop).
I can get all the required drivers and binaries I need for development, since most of it is open source luckily.
And the Nexus 10 (manta) can still be used as reference for many things.
All I need is a development device to debug on.
It is particularly important that this is the Galaxy Note 10.1 EXYNOS (WiFi-only variant), and not the LTE (Qualcomm) variant.
I created this thread to ask whether someone has a spare device lying around, maybe because of the little development on Exynos 5 devices, or if people would be willing to donate a device (I'm a university student and unfortunately can not afford the full price for a new device. I'm willing to dive into the Exynos development scene and spend time on this device though, including extensive debugging).
Thank you two for your reasonable thoughts.
I think the main reason why the previous developers stopped developing for this device rather quickly is the Exynos chip.
The main difference between me and anyone else is (or so I believe) the fact that I am especially interested in developing for the Exynos 5420 chip and the drivers for it (mainly from the Insignal forum source).
As far as bricked devices, I can say I had a Samsung device before, and as long as the bootloader is unlockable and access to ODIN (The firmware flashing tool) is granted, a hard brick is rather hard to achieve. I see little risk here, and I assume my previous development experience will prevent me from making major mistakes in that regard.
A new device would cost me approximately 350€, so if we could collect about 300$ with donations (which would equal something like 270€), I'd pay the remaining costs.
People are of course free to check my development history and/or references first and see if they think I would benefit the aosp development scene for this device.
The ROM I mentioned (Team EOS 5.0 lollipop) is essentially AOSP 5.0 with selected features that we code ourselves, like EOS Weather, or the NX gesture interface.
If people however see the need for an official CM maintainer, I'd be happy to become this as well, all I need is a device to debug and develop on, I'd be willing to spend the time to officially maintain this device.
Other developers and/or contributors should also expect support from me in areas of kernel development or AOSP custom ROM development. I believe in 'sharing is caring', so all my knowledge and achievements on this device shall benefit the community.
If some of you could maybe contact the people who raised donations before, I'd be thankful and gratious for the support. All donations will be listed here and the whole process shall be as transparent as possible.

Yes PayPal. If you look at his profile there's a link there. I'll add your name to the list :good:
Alright, I've just donated 20€ (which equals ~25$ if I'm not mistaken). It would be great, if @RaymanFX confirmed the transaction (I've refered to XDA in the transaction note, but if you need the transaction ID, write me a PN)
PS: I know I said I'd donate 20$, but I figured since he's german, I could just as well donate 20€ instead :highfive:
And I also know that you usually don't donate until enough pledges have been made, but I have faith that we will make it. And if we don't, well, consider it a donation for the effort, lol

nice to see that at least one person is not scared away by the exynos cpu
You can count me in for 15€
I have a question though:
How is this handled? Are we donating all at once when enough people have expressed their will to donate?
Or should I already donate so that you can be sure that I'm serious?

The donating is a personal thing. I worded things in the op to be safe. It's just easier if people pledge, say they are gonna donate, and then once the amount has been reached people can actually donate.
Say for example, there are no pledges and we raise 200 dollars that people have already donated in a few weeks and then people lose interest and not a lot of donations come in anymore. I don't want people to be angry if the dev doesn't end up getting the tablet. :good:
Better to pledge but if you want to donate right now that's fine. Either way i'll add you to the list
Could you in the title add that this is for the exynos variant. It mislead me into thinking this was for the snapdragon until I read a little.
Ok I'm in for $20. Maybe a little more if we get close! Awesome guys.
In for $30 ?

I'm in for $50
Hey everyone,
just letting you know I was donated another 10€ yesterday, so we're at over 200$ now!
That's more than 2/3 of our goal, so there's only 100$ left.
Keep on going, we're almost there now.
Thanks to the community for having so much faith in me and enabling development for this device.

Yes, only 100 dollars left now, we are nearly there! This is going really well.
Do you have the name of the person who donated? I can add them to the list :good:

Ill throw in 25 dollars. Would you like me to donate now? If yes I can do when I get home.

How about we get a device for a developer?

Hey guys!
When it comes to getting AOSP/CM ported to the P9 Lite,we are "attached to another object by an inclined plane and wrapped helically around an axis" because we don't have an actual dev who owns the phone itself.
Well,how about this cutesy suggestion?
What do you guys think about making a sort of a kickstarter to get a phone for an excellent dev? The same thing was done for my previous phone, the Alcatel Idol 3 5.5,and it will get a pretty much fully functional CM13 build despite Alcatels disguisting modifications which broke many things in CM(similar story with Huawei and CM).
I already have a few devs in mind, but I think it is better to first ask if we can actually make it.
And I bet I am not the only one thinking it is a much better idea to actually put our heads together and get a phone to a capable person than to give donations to individuals(like me or others) who smack into a wall in every turn while trying to get CM/AOSP to work.
I made this thread just to see if there actually is a good number of people who are interested, soooo...whoever can contribute, feel free to drop a reply!
Good idea!
That is such a good idea! I would love to see CM13 on the P9 lite since I love CM more than EMUI, I would donate and I hope it's gonna work out!
+1! I'd love having Cyanogenmod for P9 lite. I'd donate but for under a few conditions such as full support, debugging, etc. I'd love to see Resurrection Remix for P9 lite, that would be amazing!
first we need a dev who will accept this... but i don't think people will donate... in the old days, maybe... but now users just take the devs for granted and they want everything free... like they deserve it... but hey... maybe I'm wrong... count me in

I have a few devs in mind, they are all extremely capable, but we need to get the fond of around 300$,right?
Even if we don't hit 300$,if we gather even 150$,it will make it easier and more compelling for the dev to buy the device.
We can also ask the Honor 5C owners, since they can literally use the CM source of the P9 lite(the p8 Lite uses the cm builds of the Honor 4C,they are identical inside). They will probably be willing to help as well.
EDIT
There, made a thread there as well!
Love the idea. Would donate too but how do we know that the money really goes to the dev?

I did it for the Idol 3 users and it worked fine.
As far as I know, the fund raiser is linked to the receiver, and when a sufficient amount is gathered, the money can be pulled.
The Recognized Dev is Meticulus.

We used https://www.gofundme.com

Ok, as far as I can see we are now 4 donators: Thijs van Hal, The Marionette, Memovic and me. Ten donators who spend 30 dollars would be ok in my opinion. How can we arrive more people here. I saw this topic just per coincidence.
This is a good idea afterall. I will contribute if needed
So are there only four persons who want tho donate?? If we gather 6 persons it would also be nice.. so everyone would have to pay 50 euro. We need two more persons

I hope the Honor 5C users decide to help out. They can use the cm source for the p9 lite, everything will work and vice versa.
I think the Honor 5c is cheaper,so we are better off getting it instead. They are the same phones on the inside, they just have different outer bodies.

Hello everyone,
gofundme.com is not going to work for me. I prefer to use paypal and gofundme does not work with paypal. I suggest that you just use the "Donate to me" button and I'll keep a public tally until the goal amount is reached. About $260.
Looking forward to working on this device...

Yeah, since Go Fund Me doesn't work with Paypal anymore(people can donate over it,but the funds can't be withdrawn over Paypal),so it is far easier to just donate through the "Donate to me" button.

There is still no answer in the Honor 5C forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5c/help/how-device-developer-t3455496
First we need enough persons who donate. If the users Abdulla7 and Nomatrix want to spend too we are 6 donators. That would mean 50 dollars for each person.
My suggestion is: Each User spends 50 Dollar over PayPal. If the other users are not donating within one week everybody takes his / her money back (Buyer protection of paypal). But is it even possible to claim your money back in paypal after one week?

@Meticulus
You're signing up for an awesome (???) experience with developing on Kirin SoC. Wish you good luck!
And why people hit the CM forum for development requests. They just act like if the developers are getting paid by them to develop ROMs.

Lineage OS 14.01

I personally used every cm13 and lineOS14 from Meticulus and the development was good. Android as a open source OS developers preferring money for developments is completely not the right way. Hope that the developers figure out this problems and not abandon hundreds and thousands of users who trusted the developers and have love and passion for a clean OS to their phones.
Stawp.
He got pissed off bc people did not respect the rules in 8 out of 10 replys in his Dev Thread not bc he wanted to be a millionaire, wtf?
He mainly build the source. If he decides to ask a donation for it so people will buzz off it's his problem not yours.
Next time respect rules in Dev Thread.

But, nothing see?
Server of devs cost Money
Build machines cost Money
Devices cost Money
Example:
Build machine (basic) on old hardware but 64b support= 150$
Basic Server = 50$ per year

Meticulus uses a free webhost and a free domain. = 0 $
Community donated for his p9 lite = 0$
Build machines aka his pc is his own property for daily use so all in all he pays nothing.

And the internet are free?
And the time?
You job and no receive Money?
Do you think it's okay to sell other's work ?
Do you think those who contributed to lineage os will be happy to see someone making profit out of it ?

You are not obligated to receive any money for your home needs from us. We all pay for basic needs, things you do here you wilingly choose to do as volunteer and making projects based on someones else source(lineage os) is not a full time job. So making roms is NOT a full time job, it's a volunteer job.
Ok....

To the point well said. Asking for a donation is no problem. But distributing a free OS only for a payment is not legally correct even.
Can we please end this debate? He got his P9 Lite from donations and uses free hosting services, so stop crying for him. Putting open source software behind a paywall is something the guy should be called out for, and that's it. He thinks he will get rid of the guys "bothering" him with questions, but the reality is he has a much lower user base so he also receives much lower feedback.
I follow the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 subforum where people ask even more retarded questions than people ask here on the P9 Lite subforum, but the developers never said "OMG this is so noobish I will stop developing"... But that's his decision and who am I to judge really...
The only choice we have is to wait for the official OTA and then find a way to root so we can debloat it... Or pay the guy's fee and enter his "secret" G+ group and receive updates from him. That's all.

Bounty for TWRP support

I've been talking with @Captain_Throwback (TWRP supporter for the HTC 10 & many many more devices) about supporting TWRP for the U11. Unfortunately it sounds like he doesn't have the ability to upgrade at this time. So my thought is to create a bounty to help him out He has already begun work on the U11 TWRP but needs the device in hand to make it fully functioning.
If you would like to help contribute, either comment with your pledge or send him a donation now!
DONATE
You can also donate by sending straight from PayPal (friends & family) w/ no fees to Captain_Throwback, send to [email protected] the above link will deduct a fee
I'll start by committing $25 to the fund!

I wanted to stop in and say thanks to everyone for their support. Thanks to @OMJ for opening the thread and thanks to everyone that has donated.
I've never been one to ask for handouts, and everything I've done for the community I've done because I enjoy it and never to get anything back. So to see this response is really touching. I'll make sure the funds are used toward a U11 and if I'm able to get one I'll make sure I add official support for it to TWRP and maintain the device for as long as it's not bricked (it happens, lol).
Thanks again, and if you happen to already have the device, a semi-working TWRP was posted by someone in another thread in this section. My thoughts on that are here.
CPT_Throwback,
We take it for granted that these things are available to us. Little do folks realize the work that goes behind the scenes.
I for one, will support you guys and am glad OMJ posted it here.
Thank you Sir, you have a wonderful Memorial day.
@Captain_Throwback you're been around and supported a lot of HTC devices around to enable us modding enthusiasts to flash a working TWRP, all done on your own expenses. Who, if bot you, would be allowed to ask for a little compensation an help when needed.
I've always been glad to be able to use a TWRP maintained by you, and always will. Hope this bounty can make it possible for all of us. Thanks for everything done to the community so far, and all that's hopefully coming.
And a special thanks to @OMJ for opening this thread. Great and needed idea.
All the best to you two.

Hello, the provided link allows only $ payments, how could I contribute in € ?
I got my black U11 3 days ago in Taiwan, but unfortunately the screen had a little defect so I had to return it back for a new one. However I'm not in a hurry, because I'm still waiting for TWRP on it! Thanks @Captain_Throwback for you contribution on my HTC 10, and I'm looking forward to see your work on U11!
