Manual camera - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

New app in the play store, Manual camera, from the makers of dslr camera pro. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.vipek.camera2 . Nice to see an app with a great, modern ui which takes advantage of the new camera api. It has controls for iso, shutter speed and manual focus. Capture speed is also INSANELY fast, way better then anything else on the market now. I will try and take some samples later to compare with other apps with the new api, like a better camera and snap camera. Check it out, definitely worth a look..

I'm trying it now. Does anybody know if you can change the default camera app to the lock screen shortcut?

Looks like L camera on steroids and works good.

You can try this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-ultimate-android-l-lockscreen-music-t2844145 . It's a lockscreen replacement, looks pretty much the same as the regular lockscreen but lets you choose custom apps for the shortcuts

The stock lock screen also let's you choose a default camera app, perhaps clear defaults on the stock one?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app

Yeah you can disable the stock camera app then open the shortcur, but for some reason it won't let you choose manual camera as the custom app

- No option for picture size
- No front camera

I've bought it, It works well, but suddenly it doesn't save my photos... I've tried everything, reinstalled the app, flashed 5.0.1 again from zero... WTF

I had this same problem...Try taking a picture with the stock camera (to save something to the default photo folder) then try with manual camera again. It should work.
I think the issue is that manual camera doesn't know what the save location is because its just following the stock camera's role. (Or something like that)

Bought it but refunded. It's not as polished as google camera. I can't use it for everyday photos.

Just installed it, awesome camera, needs some improvements though

Hey guys just discovered a camera app , fv5 which says that has more manual settings and works without bugs, does anyone bought this app? Does it really do what is says?

When I disable the stock camera, my shortcut goes away, so I can't select anything.
I really like Manual Camera, lots of settings that are easy to get to. It also takes pictures faster than the stock camera. I just wish I could access it from the stock lock screen.

After the latest update (v1.9 I think) you can now open from the lock screen shortcut. And yeah, fv-5 does have a LOT of options, I just prefer manual camera ui because you can adjust all of the settings without covering the viewfinder. Hopefully the devs will add more features soon, if it had burst and HDR it would be complete

You mean long exposure?
Set the shutter speed to a longer value and you'll have the closest thing to long exposure.
This is the closest I've gotten to getting long exposure with the right settings.

I think exposure time is limited to hardware. L camera has a longer setting I believe (not too sure, dont have it installed at the moment) but a 2 second photo still looks quite amazing.
Thnx
Edit: Just installed L camera and it looks like it has 1.5 second shutter duration. Should be OK for quick long exposure. A stand will help a lot.

Camera Problems Thread - 3 second delay removal?

All,
I find the camera the only aspect of the TouchHD that is annoying!
Symptoms:
I have turned on and off the autofocus and still when I take photos of people who are moving they end up blurry!
I have ready other threads that cover this in more detail, but I wonder if there are any fixes people could post here? I used to have a Trinity and this took a photo instantly and never had any issues other than being at 2 x mega pixels!
Solution(?):
What I think is needed is to a) turn off auto focus b) a reg hack (anyone) that turns off the 3 second snap delay.
Cheers
Dave
i share your frustration. with a camera of this many megapixels you should be able to do much more. Would love for someone to expand on this
Megapixel count is meaningless on a cameraphone sensor size. What's really needed is a properly designed 3mpixel unit - anything more than that and you destroy the ability to take pics in anything except bright outdoors.
If you are disabling the focussing ability then what do you expect other than blurry pictures? Or am I completely missing something here?

How on Earth did you manage to do this????
Check for a key named CapKeyDelay (there will be a few, named similarly) under HTC\Camera in the registry. Setting them all to 0 will make the camera take the picture immediately after focusing.
does taking the 'review duration' off help?
The problem is the software for sure, as the camera, apart from not having a flash, is not bad at all. Unfortunately, I checked Advanced Configuration Tool and it says that the capture delay is disabled already, meaning the delay really originates from the camera software itself. I doubt a registry change can fix it.

Well, there's a key named EnableCapKeyDelay, with a value of 0, so changing CapKeyDelayTime values didn't change anything here.
In addition to that, "after focusing" is not a solution - a "focus-free" mode (setting focus to infinity) would solve at least part of the camera problem.

This setting is to define for how long the photo will stay on screen after capturing to be able to delete it etc., so no effect on picture taking.

Indeed. The issue though is which part of the software - the driver, the part that's accessible to the user, or code within the camera chip or something obscure/inaccessible like that.
BTW, what does this "capture key delay" do?

It will write the file quicker for sure, but won't reduce exposure time or focusing time, which create the pain and cause blurry pictures and missed moments.

[Q] Where is the videorecorder app?

Hi,
Before I got the SGS2 I had a desire running htc's sense. Back then I had a camera app and a video recorder app, which was nice since I was able to create two icons on the desktop that would open the camera features in either photo or video mode directly.
There seems to be no such option in the touch wiz interface or is it just me who are blind?
One thing I noticed is however, when I use the widgetlocker lock screen I am able to create two shortcuts on the sliders, one for photo and one for video. This gives me exactly what I want, and the funny thing is, when I look in the task manager showing last used apps there is actually a video recorder application showing up.
So.. do any of you know if theres somekind of trick I can do to create such shortcut on the desktop for the video camera or maybe find the hidden application and create some kind of wrapper of some sort. It seems interesting that the developer of widgetlocker apparently is able to launch it directly...
/m
you use the camera app, you slide the setting from camera mode to camcorder one.
The switch is next to the shutter button.
see the red circled are of the photo.

Did you read the question? What I want is a direct launch, just like on the desire or with the widgetlocker lock screen. Also when done via the widgetlocker lock screen the last used apps list (hold home button) shows that the actual videocamera application is in fact present in the system.

Jeeez how ****en rude... Did you read the answer.. There is only the switch in the camera app....

Camcorder Shortcut
Cheers!
Please be polite people!
Enemies are not here!
OP, you can also just create a shortcut with any shortcut app if you have them installed. I use "dg QuickCut" for my shortcutting needs.
You will need to create a link to the Camcorder "Activity" , and it has the exact same icon you circled, and it brings you to same camera app Samsung customized, with that toggle switched to the Video mode.
There was a problem with above solution. Since it would launch the camera app in somekind of locked video only mode with the photo/video toggle dimmed. This was not the case when launching the camcorder from widgetlock lockscreen. Also it was still a little bit weird that the tasklist would show something that looked like a samsung stock icon but no app was to be found.
I looked a bit more around and found this info at another forum, and it works perfectly! Also when using this method the icon is the same as seen in the tasklist when using widgetlocker method and the photo/video toggle is not dimmed. Super!
Here is how to do it:
1. install launcher pro from market
2. longpress touchwiz home screen, not launcher pro home screen - add activity -> camera -> camcorder
3. uninstall launcher pro (if you don’t wan’t it) and the created shortcut will remain on your touchwiz home screen

You can use Tasker for this.
create a new task, add an action -> media -> photo.
Set a filename, I like to use date and time (I think %DATE%TIME but double check the help to be sure). Check discrete if you want it to be silent. then save.
go back to home screen, add a widget, tasker, and choose the task you just made.

Watercolor photos. Auto mode camera issue. When the camera soft is upgraded?

Somebody from forum and I noticed a very strange feature in the stock camera on the Oneplus 5. I don't know whether it was done specifically or not, but the quality of photos in auto mode and in Pro mode is very different. And I'm talking about Pro mode, but without additional manual settings. Let's call this mode Pro-auto. The thing is, if you take a photo in auto mode the detailing of distant objects (especially trees, grass) is violated and the picture becomes horrible, the picture looks like a watercolor painting. This is clearly seen with croping. But if you take the same photo in Pro mode with automatic settings, you will not see the watercolor. The picture becomes more qualitative and detailed. Interestingly, the exposure time and ISO in auto and Pro-auto modes can be the same, but the result will be different. Probably algorithms for processing photos in the auto and Pro modes are not the same. Auto mode uses strong noise reduction more than necessary, because of this we see a watercolor effect. For comparison, I present a few photos in auto (without HQ and HDR) and Pro-auto got by 1+5 and a photo in auto mode by 1+3 (without HQ and HDR).
You can download all full size pictures here https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B61V7UugGlMNMzNLMzNJMW1GVXc
Example #1. It is the miniature of the picture in auto.

Looking pretty good, but if we crop and compare with Pro-auto mode photo, we will see the difference.
Even OP3 has more details.
Next two photo examples were took by my colleagues from 4pda forum.
Example #2. Again it looks nice.
But if we crop and compare with RAW, which was got by Pro-auto mode, ... just look at this ...
Example #3. Indoor low light picture.
Let's crop again.
Even here we can see the difference between auto and Pro-auto modes algorithms.
It's just a few examples, but I assure you that all owners will have the same problem. The problem is the camera soft. My colleagues and I call you not to leave it. You could add your examples with auto and Pro-auto comparison. We all need to attract more attention to this problem, maybe OnePlus team will fix this awful watercolor effect in auto mode.
Let's share and spread this information!
I tried it myself and I noticed that when the watercolour effect is present, the ISO of the photo is a lot higher. In the pro-auto mode, the ISO used is 800, while in auto mode for the same picture the ISO is 1600. I also notice that sometimes the watercolour effect may not take place in auto mode, in this case, the ISO as well as the picture quality will be the same as pro-auto mode.
In addition please find the topic on the official forum.
Also there is at least one support ticket 1269844 - but this one seems to be visible for 1+ support only...

Unfortunately not, the watercolor effect always appears in auto mode. It may not be noticeable when you look at the close and large objects on the picture, but this doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Have the same on my unit, tried cropping and looks like on the above examples. Camera is the weakest point on this phone I hope they will try to do this something with this software...
The camera is terrible. In auto mode, there is a very strong watercolor effect, there is no clarity. In the pro mode, the situation is slightly better, but the noise reduction works very hard, kills all the details. In addition, in the pro mode, the dynamic range is smaller.
I absolutely agree. The software is horrible for this camera. OnePlus used way too aggressive noise reduction, AND they use to high ISO values in Auto mode. And I didn't even mention the useless digital crap that their marketing calls "2x lossless zoom". Unfortunately, they don't seem to be interested in fixing the camera (a HAL change is required), and they officially stated they won't open access to the telephoto camera because it's quite crappy.
Oh, and by the way, their Camera 2 API implementation is buggy as hell. We have a mosquito artefact when shooting HDR+ with Google Camera or even using Snap Camera to capture RAW!
Curious how 4.5.10 compares to 4.5.8....They Noise Reductions improvements.
I haven't got the chance to take any daylight shots , but when i took some indoor shots , i indeed saw huge improvements in 4.5.10 , and the noise has gone down and details have gone up , i will post some example shots if u want.

Snapchat Focus/Blur

Hey there,
Has anyone else been experiencing this with Snapchat? What's happening is whenever I go to take a picture, whether its in focus already, the app will try to focus again and it'll then blur slightly. If the focus was perfect, it'll still try a 2nd focus attempt then it'll be blurry. Notice this on both my 6 and 6T.
Happens on my 6 and 6t as well
Sent from my Google Pixel 2 XL using XDA Labs
Same here on OP6 I hate it the picture looks good, then it destroys it ?
I don't have any other Android to test but is this a OnePlus issue or Snapchat?

I believe that it is a Snapchat bug.
Anyone that has found a fix for it yet? Seen people on reddit and on oneplus website aswell with the same problem. Its driving me nuts as I paid for a phone that delivers camera quality like a potato on snapchat. And that its zoomed in 10x as much as its supposed to be if you compare it to the regular camera.
Something that I also noticed is that there is a delay between taking the photos
Yep, definitely happening on my T-Mo 6T. An additional wrinkle is say you position a gif or bitmoji on the image and post it to your story. I just noticed this morning that the positioning matches up with the original, not-zoomed-in image. So my "soon..." bitmoji dude wasn't peaking up over a chair; he was was above the chair a few inches already. Meaning you literally have to guesstimate while positioning these things on the zoomed in pic. Sigh.
Edited to add the story pic I mentioned. The position was right on top of the sign, seamless. But the image that posted to my story has a gap in between.
Edit 2: Now that I see the image fully on the desktop, wow that's some bad quality to boot. :\

It's like this on both stock and alpha.
It's the same on the Xiaomi Mi 8.
My Oneplus 5 was opposite. Picture got a lot clearer when taking the snap (in the alpha version)
Just had an epiphany and this seems to fix the zoom and positioning bug:

Ugh... Did not know that was a thing. But yep, had a couple iPhone friends confirm it for me.
So the good news is that full screen option fixes the zoom and object positioning issues. The bad news is we still have black bars on the left and right and I'm still getting a slightly blurry final picture like OP originally described.

Apparently snapchat always sends with the aspect ratio of the phone. Iphone X have the same issue.... I also get people sending me 16x9 and it has black bars on top and bottom lol. Would be nice if someone could force 16x9 so this doesnt happen. The pics are much less blurry in full screen tho.
I'm getting the same problem, when the viewfinder is active, the image looks great, but after capturing the image, you can clearly see a difference (it blurs the image a little bit). Honestly Snapchat is a disappointment right now...it's 2018..On the other hand, I have made my Snapchat fullscreen so I hope it fixes the aspect ratio..
Snapchat hates android and basically just takes a screenshot of the viewfinder to take a picture. Try joining the snapchat alpha channel. On the viewfinder pinch out to open up the snapchat map then navigate over to Bermuda (go to North Carolina and start going east until you hit it). There will be one of those snapchat ghost things you can click on to activate it. I've noticed that helps some.

Download the xml with all the settings from here:
Marian Mi 9 XML
1 - Place the XML into /GCam/Configs7 (if that doesn't exist, create it)
2 - Open GCam and load the XML - TUTORIAL
*Note: It is suggested to force lower shutter speed/iso in order to get the best results from ultrawide and reduce the green tint of the sensor.
XTREME RECOMMENDED SETTINGS:
Download the Sharp XML or the Soft XML
1 - Place the XML into /GCam/Configs (if that doesn't exist, create it)
2 - Open GCam and load the XML - TUTORIAL
(READ EVERYTHING BELOW BEFORE ASKING SOMETHING)
FAQ GOOGLE CAM
48MP GCAM MAGISK MODULE
version from 06/11/2019 by Eszdman (it's bugged, doesn't work for everyone)
1 - Flash the Magisk Module in Magisk
2 - Install the GCam APK by URNYX05 (has to be that one ONLY)
(both files inside the link above)
(works on Android 10 now)

This is known, if you want to go to settings you need to be on the main lens

But on the first page, there are settings for each of the 3 lenses so how will I setup those settings ? Will they be updated from the main lens ?
has lens blur been removed? can't seem to find it anywhere

Each lens takes its respective settings which can only be accessed when the main lens is active.
Cheers
Toscha
Thank you

Humble request
When photos are taken on portrait mode, they get stored as a different album in the gallery instead of being stored in the camera roll
