Camera Problems Thread - 3 second delay removal? - Touch HD General

All,
I find the camera the only aspect of the TouchHD that is annoying!
Symptoms:
I have turned on and off the autofocus and still when I take photos of people who are moving they end up blurry!
I have ready other threads that cover this in more detail, but I wonder if there are any fixes people could post here? I used to have a Trinity and this took a photo instantly and never had any issues other than being at 2 x mega pixels!
Solution(?):
What I think is needed is to a) turn off auto focus b) a reg hack (anyone) that turns off the 3 second snap delay.
Cheers
Dave

i share your frustration. with a camera of this many megapixels you should be able to do much more. Would love for someone to expand on this

Megapixel count is meaningless on a cameraphone sensor size. What's really needed is a properly designed 3mpixel unit - anything more than that and you destroy the ability to take pics in anything except bright outdoors.

If you are disabling the focussing ability then what do you expect other than blurry pictures? Or am I completely missing something here?

to shot at moving people try enabling this secret camera mode, sport should be perfect for this

How on Earth did you manage to do this????

Check for a key named CapKeyDelay (there will be a few, named similarly) under HTC\Camera in the registry. Setting them all to 0 will make the camera take the picture immediately after focusing.

does taking the 'review duration' off help?

The problem is the software for sure, as the camera, apart from not having a flash, is not bad at all. Unfortunately, I checked Advanced Configuration Tool and it says that the capture delay is disabled already, meaning the delay really originates from the camera software itself. I doubt a registry change can fix it.

Well, there's a key named EnableCapKeyDelay, with a value of 0, so changing CapKeyDelayTime values didn't change anything here.
In addition to that, "after focusing" is not a solution - a "focus-free" mode (setting focus to infinity) would solve at least part of the camera problem.

This setting is to define for how long the photo will stay on screen after capturing to be able to delete it etc., so no effect on picture taking.

Indeed. The issue though is which part of the software - the driver, the part that's accessible to the user, or code within the camera chip or something obscure/inaccessible like that.

BTW, what does this "capture key delay" do?

Is the camera quicker if you lower the resolution? I had a Nokia where this was the case.

It will write the file quicker for sure, but won't reduce exposure time or focusing time, which create the pain and cause blurry pictures and missed moments.

How to create time lapse videos on windows mobile?

Anyone heard of a program to make time lapse videos on windows mobile?
Time lapse videos are those videos made by taking pictures with a costant time pause, from a steady position and them merging them frame by frame.
I can't find anything for pocketpc on google.
If this kind of program doesn't exist anybody would mind to build/code it?
it could make some good quality videos(photo quality).
no one knows or is intrested?
bump up!
that would be awsum! someone support this please
Found Software
Found some software (via Google) which should do it. I'll try it on mine and report how it is.
-edit- tested and it works well!
Extract ZIP to Pocket PC, and run config to set interval etc,
then run exe to start the time lapse
WOW..thanks for the great find
Mugglesquheers
Do you know what the timer interval is in please? Minutes, seconds, nano seconds? Also what is the virtual key box for?
Cheers

Just following three letters will solve your problem: "RTM" or four, if one is less polite
From the readme.html file included in the ppccamtimer.zip file:

To start the CameraTimer program the camtimer.config file has to be in the same folder as the PpcCamTimer.exe file.
Explanation of the settings
Setting Examples Explanation
Camera Application Camera.exe Name of the standard camera application. This is started with a (true) restart of PpcCamTimer.exe.
Timer Interval 10000 Timer interval for automatic taking pictures in milliseconds (min. 100, 0 .. no automatic taking)
Virtual Key 0D Virtual key code for the automatic shutter release and for releasing the still image after a specified time
Still Duration 5000 Time, after that the still image is to be released in milliseconds (min. 100, 0 .. no automatic release). Set to > 0 if the camera application does not automatically release the still image.

I wonder how this will get affected if a call comes in or alerts go off. Will it run in the background or does the cam app have to be running in the foreground?
thanks for the great find
What would be ideal is not that appeared onscreen in the camera lens, but it would execute in the background, did not think?
yes, the program itself does a good job of taking pictures at a specified interval, but it doesn't create the video file and it's not much user friendly, peralphs some talented coder could write a more complete solution? isn't this the right place to ask for such things ;p

, but its not free..
they have a trial version though.
On windows mobile 5.0 and 6.0 is used the amazing program CoolCapture to make my 720p HD movies... but it isn't supported on 6.1 anymore...
check for an example: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PS7P2TA5
i hope someone can make a piece of software with the following functionality:
Must have:
- choose resolution (480p, 720p or 1080p)
- choose delay (1sec, 5sec, 10sec, 30 sec, 1min, 5min, 10min, 30min, 1hour)
- choose output directory of images
Would have
- Render into (H.264, WMVHD, AVCHD, XviD)
- Upload to (FTP, SMB)
Then every windows mobile phone with a 3MP camera can make HD 1080p movies. I'm dreaming of this for soo long...

[Q] Unknown symbol in stock Gallery

Hello everyone,
I've started to notice that when viewing some images in the stock Gallery app a symbol appears over the image (and also in folder view). This seems to be related to images with a specific ratio between width and height, but I wanted to ask if anyone has a more detailed explanation of it.
TL;DR: Help, my Gallery app is playing tricks on me.

It looks like panorama.....or maybe the movie view thing in Apple products.
I've forgot to mention: tried tapping, holding, frowning at it, but to no avail. Doesn't seem related to any motion feature/eye control, etc.

it simply says that the pic is a panoramic picture
That's what I was thinking, since it needs a specific ratio between width and height, but it applies to any image with that ratio (not only panoramic photos taken with the camera). Problem is, it stays there all the time, and sometimes I have to zoom in and out and move the image around in order to read the text in it.
Can it be disabled? Or what's the purpose of it, really? I can tell by myself that it's a panoramic shot, no need for it.
Thanks.

Sent from my fingers to your face using my Samsung Galaxy Note 3!
No, I was talking about the stock Gallery app, not the Camera. Still, it's not in Panorama, but Auto.
That symbol appears in the above mentioned conditions only in the Gallery, regardless of the Camera settings.
But thanks anyway.

So i guess the photo editor is showing the picture full screen instead of adjusting it to the screen, and as the code is written to only maximize to a specific part of the screen, its not reaching the ''full screen'' picture.
So i guess i need to replace with another photo editor APK?

Was a solution to this problem ever found? I have the same issue, when trying to crop a photo in the default photo editing app on my Note 3, I can't extend the crop area to the extreme left or right of the screen. The crop line sticks about 1cm from the edge of the screen and won't allow me to drag it any wider. Also I can't zoom out far enough to crop to the top or bottom of the photo either (they are obscured by the menu bars).
Andre
still doesn't work for me either
I still have this problem as above
Has been this way since I got the phone before kit Kat and after
Also after factory reset and rooting it
The crop tool won't let my drag all the way to the border of the photo being cropped
Is this actually a problem limited to a few ?

Honor 5x Camera Tips and Tricks

Honor 5x Camera Tips and Tricks
On the surface, the camera app on the Honor 5x might seem like a basic setup, but there are tons of settings, modes and filters to play around with to get the perfect shot. Check out these tips to get you started.
Video Resolution
While the 5x is capable of shooting at 1080p, by default it's set to 720p. To change this, swipe over to filming mode then press the menu button and go to settings. From there, you'll be able to bump the resolution up to 1080p.

Photo Settings
There's a lot of really important photo settings that you might have missed. They aren't accessible from your main screen, so you have to go through the settings. In the settings you'll find resolution, timer, object tracking, volume button function, image adjustment and a bunch of other features.
Ultra Snapshot
Enable Ultra Snapshot to let you launch your camera app by double pressing the volume down key. You can set this to launch your camera and also immediately take a snapshot.
Touch & Hold Shutter Button
The burst mode isn't really something I use very much. Luckily you are able to change the action that is tied to pressing and holding the shutter button. I have it set to focus instead.
If you have any other tips for using the camera, let me know in the comments. There are so many features that it can be easy to overlook some.

MFNR => Multi-frame noise reduction
SR=> automatic scene optimization
Dual SAT => camera takes picture with dual camera and then combines them in one picture (every camera shoot's in her best optical range)
Anti banding option is i believe to remove bands caused from power lines (lights) and freq. in which they operate (60 Hz, 50 Hz or auto)

Just as I have been wrought in previous post on beginning of this thread it's "Extended touch-to-focus timeout" function if I have been translated this correctly on some on-line translation service.
Why they didn't translate this and include as visible option is beyond my knowledge but I can assume that's somehow connected with certain instability or specific issues during day to day work or using camera itself.
