[Q] D801 root lost after recent OTA from TMobile - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All,
I need help re-rooting my phone. I had a stock recovery, rooter phone (to remove/ disable bloat). I received an update from TMobile (the version is still 4.4.2, but build is now KOT49I.D80120g. I could not stop it from applying the update and my phone lost root. I'm now unable to find a way to root it again. Towelroot does not work (your device is not supported) and ioroot says it does not work on 4.4.2.
Please help with what could I try.
Thanks a lot in advance.

wondering if you ever found the solution,. i am on that build as well.
even worse is i can't get into download mode to go back to an older version and install a custom recovery.

[Q] Unable to Update phone because of bootloader.

I have a GS4 on version 4.3 rooted and I have a custom bootloader, clockwork. I've recently tried to ota update but it makes my phone reboot into recovery mode asking if I want to install an unknown package, paraphrasing here. Last time I accepted this install and softbricked my phone so I'd like to figure out the problem so I can fix it and update to KitKat. If I have to flash the original recovery or Rom I'd very much appreciate links on how to do so given I haven't done either in a year or so. Thanks in advance.
The problem is you cannot take an OTA unless you are 100% bone stock.
This problem and the solutions have been discussed many many times. Please search and you will find everything you need.

[Q] Download Mode Not Working, Stock ROM With a Broken Root [ZVE, 4.4.2]

Hey guys, I bought my phone used and am trying really hard to fix a broken root that's on the device.
It's a Sprint LS980 with the latest ZVE update. Rootchecker fails, and the SuperSU app is unable to update the binary. StumpRoot will not run as it thinks the device is already rooted.
The phone is on stock recovery. My plan was to flash the stock ZVE firmware/ROM using a .tot, however this is impossible until I can get download mode working...
Any help would be very much appreciated, I really want to get this phone sorted out.
Bumping up, I'll be working on this more tonight since I'm working graveyard shift at an IT helpdesk. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

[Q] Android update failed! Verizon Bluetooth update

Hey guys I'm on 4.4.2 and I used towel root to root and I did the process to flash a rom. Well when I was rooted I unrooted on Supersu on the stock rom and I updated. Today I tried to update to Verizon's OTA to fix bluetooth and I can download it OTA and install it. It boots into recovery boot and then it loads. It shows the Android guy laying down and the Error wording. When the phone boots back up it says Sorry, there was an error updating your galaxy s5 Verizon. It's been doing this all day and I really want to update to Lolipop.
Same Issue, any solutions?
I have the exact same problem, and under similar conditions. Towel Root worked for a while, but an updated unrooted my phone, now TR doesn't work anymore. So, I'm back to stock, with this Verizon bluetooth update failing everyday for what seems like an eternity.

[Q] T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Root Lost After Phone auto-updated

Hey Guys, I'm brand new to these forums, and to this whole community so bare with me.
Basically I bought my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 phone around the time it came out, and I also had installed root on it via towelroot when Towel Root was first released. I did not update the phone at all for a long period of time and everything was working fine, until one day I was browsing under settings and accidentally tapped the "Software Update" button, then T-mobile auto-pushed an update onto my phone.
This update has caused the root on my phone to not work at all (Deemed useless) So I clicked SU and only a black screen popped up when I tried to open the app, so I uninstalled it, reinstalled it then got a message saying "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU Cannot install it. If you just upgraded to Android 4.3 you need to manually re-root your device" So I tried to re-root via towelroot method again. It seems the T-mobile update made my phone "Unsupported/Uncompatible" with TowelRoot's obsolete techniques, so now I'm in dire need of help.
My phone tried to push another t-mobile update (This time to upgrade to Lollipop) but it failed after attempting to install it after a reboot. So not only will my phone not update to Lollipop, but I'm not even rooted anymore and am unsure on how to get back rooted, or what to do next since I used rooting as a primary source to store apps on my SD Card. Kind of like i'm stuck in one spot? (Can't update your phone/can't root it the old method)
I'm brand new guys, Please can you break down to me what I should do, in order to obtain root again, and possibly be able to upgrade to Lollipop As well as prevent further pushed T-mobile updates? Here's some info if you need it
S5 Model Number: SM-G900T
Android Version:4.4.2
Kernel Version:3.4.0-262.. etc. (Tell me if you need the full kernel details)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank YOU!
Flash this with ODIN

(Will trip KNOX and void warranty)
Or flash a pre-June 2014 KK Kernel, root with Towelroot again, then flash back your current Kernel
Is this the only solution? And also is it the right one? o.o
Can anyone else please give me some feedback on the situation? I want to make sure I do this right, please just a little helps.

Hey I did exactly what you said and it worked I got root back, but I was wondering how to flash back to my current kernel and keep Root?

Still on jellybean...want to update to either kit kat or lollipop

EDIT: phone is currently unlocked/rooted
I've had a G2 since it almost came out, i don't have nearly the time to spend on here as i used to. Thus i've stuck with jellybean because everything works well and i have it set up how i want but it's a bit long in the tooth and the phone needs to have a full clean factory wipe so i figured i'd take the time to update to something newer.
My thought process is the following:
Save everything i want to keep and take off phone (including titanium backups)
Factory reset phone
Allow OTA updates to download and install
Then root
Then install custom roms (if i so choose)
Now fellow XDAers, anything wrong with my logic? I did do some reading and some searching and it seems like lollipop is rootable with a script and i can install customer recoverys with a script as well. I'd like the phone to still be able to unlock and root my device.
Thanks for any help and/or links to tutorials.
I am not sure but I think OTA updates need a unrooted system with stock recovery.
I had a rooted KK and I could not OTA to LP because the download was over 1.5 GBs!
The best solution may be to back everything up, connect the phone to LG Tools, and choose the upgrade recovery method to get the latest ROM for your phone.
