[Q] Android update failed! Verizon Bluetooth update - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I'm on 4.4.2 and I used towel root to root and I did the process to flash a rom. Well when I was rooted I unrooted on Supersu on the stock rom and I updated. Today I tried to update to Verizon's OTA to fix bluetooth and I can download it OTA and install it. It boots into recovery boot and then it loads. It shows the Android guy laying down and the Error wording. When the phone boots back up it says Sorry, there was an error updating your galaxy s5 Verizon. It's been doing this all day and I really want to update to Lolipop.

Same Issue, any solutions?
I have the exact same problem, and under similar conditions. Towel Root worked for a while, but an updated unrooted my phone, now TR doesn't work anymore. So, I'm back to stock, with this Verizon bluetooth update failing everyday for what seems like an eternity.

Update unavailable/not working

To start I rooted with Kingo but still stock otherwise. Then settings/about phone/software update and no luck. So I flashed the stock image and pit file so I'm back to no root and full stock. Go back to settings/about/software update and still says (update unavailable) not (no update available) or running latest version. It's an error saying my updater isn't working. I'm on MJ7 and wanting to update to MJE the latest version. Can anyone help? I've tried Samsung Kies and Verizon repair/update on my PC and still no profit. I'm want to update and run the cleanrom 1.5.....
Okay well update took through Verizon update/repair on PC finally. First off my signal went from -98 to -92.... so that doesn't suck. 2nd) upon re rooting with KingoApp when I boot/reboot I do not get the pesky custom logo and I'm on stock room with no wanam/exposed.
3rdly) I went to settings/about/software update and it now works and says my phone is running current. Now to flash cleanrom 1.5 and I'm done. Thanks for looking!

OTA update when rooted D855

Hey, I have a LG D855, and I'm rooted on A6NL D855 V10G. My phone suggested to OTA update to V10I. Now I want to know if it's safe to do so. And if that's the case, what would happen to my root? I'd actually be glad to be rid of my root since I think it's lagging my device. So, what exactly would happen if I updated? Anybody with experience?
Would think although showing an ota when you download it it won't install as it will detect your root. In order to update you will have to return to unrooted state. A search will show a couple of threads instructing how to.
From what I understand, as long as you haven't made any changes within the system folder or installed a custom recovery, the OTA should install just fine. Worst case is if anything has been changed, it will tell you and it won't install. But yes, you will lose root once it is installed.
root and ota should be ok.
but be very careful if your g3 is bumped!! if you had installed bump! on your device, an ota update fails and the reboot always ended in the recovery. i tried almost erverything - no way out. i had no chance to reboot into the system!!
only flashing back to stock had fixed the problem (incl. loosing all personal data).

When u are rooted, it will download the new update (ota), but it will give a error when it installs. You have to update via pc.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
Just had this happen to me on LG G3 for AT&T
Was rooted, got prompted to install the update, I kept declining until it stopped asking.
Then my phone died, after plugging it in and restarting my phone, it instantly jumped into the update window with no other options.
It updated automatically, and it didn't stop or error because of my root. I'm on 4.2.2 now, most up-to-date version on AT&T.
To make it clear: I'm rooted with TowelRoot, NOT with Bump!

[Q] Can't upgrade S5 to lollipop

Hi guys,
I'm having an issue upgrading my S5 to lollipop. After I download the update, I hit install now and then the phone reboots.. then it immediately boots back up and gives me an error saying there was an error installing the update. I was previously rooted and I unrooted with SuperSu.
Is there an easy way around this or should I just upgrade through odin or something? If this is the case can someone quickly link me to a tutorial to do this? I'm a little rusty.
Thanks,
Ota
I had same issue I used Verizons Firmware repair then I did the update thru Verizons Firmware updater on my pc then work perfect, I kept getting update fail with the dead Android then I used this method and worked, I was rooted so I unrooted first after Uninstalling busybox.

[Q] T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Root Lost After Phone auto-updated

Hey Guys, I'm brand new to these forums, and to this whole community so bare with me.
Basically I bought my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 phone around the time it came out, and I also had installed root on it via towelroot when Towel Root was first released. I did not update the phone at all for a long period of time and everything was working fine, until one day I was browsing under settings and accidentally tapped the "Software Update" button, then T-mobile auto-pushed an update onto my phone.
This update has caused the root on my phone to not work at all (Deemed useless) So I clicked SU and only a black screen popped up when I tried to open the app, so I uninstalled it, reinstalled it then got a message saying "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU Cannot install it. If you just upgraded to Android 4.3 you need to manually re-root your device" So I tried to re-root via towelroot method again. It seems the T-mobile update made my phone "Unsupported/Uncompatible" with TowelRoot's obsolete techniques, so now I'm in dire need of help.
My phone tried to push another t-mobile update (This time to upgrade to Lollipop) but it failed after attempting to install it after a reboot. So not only will my phone not update to Lollipop, but I'm not even rooted anymore and am unsure on how to get back rooted, or what to do next since I used rooting as a primary source to store apps on my SD Card. Kind of like i'm stuck in one spot? (Can't update your phone/can't root it the old method)
I'm brand new guys, Please can you break down to me what I should do, in order to obtain root again, and possibly be able to upgrade to Lollipop As well as prevent further pushed T-mobile updates? Here's some info if you need it
S5 Model Number: SM-G900T
Android Version:4.4.2
Kernel Version:3.4.0-262.. etc. (Tell me if you need the full kernel details)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank YOU!
Flash this with ODIN
http://download.chainfire.eu/407/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-kltetmo-kltetmo-smg900t.zip
(Will trip KNOX and void warranty)
Or flash a pre-June 2014 KK Kernel, root with Towelroot again, then flash back your current Kernel
Is this the only solution? And also is it the right one? o.o
Can anyone else please give me some feedback on the situation? I want to make sure I do this right, please just a little helps.
