Nexus 6 full charge time test - Moto Turbo Charger v 2A charger - Nexus 6 General

I pit the Motorola Turbo Charger against one of my other 2A charger, a Trent NT90c
I set to charge from 15% to 100%. Screen off, turning on every 5 minutes to check percentage. Didn't turn off anything else as I want to test this as normal as possible.

Turbo Charger is able to supply at least 6% of charge for at least 45minutes, then it slows down to 4% per 5minutes until it's fully charged. That last 2% charge did take a lot longer though.
Trent charger is pretty much constant at 4% per 5 minutes, then down to 3% increase after it got to 92% charged.
I'll try a 1A charger next, lol I also have a Nexus 10 charger to try as well. I dont have a 3A charger to test.

Awesome info. Just curious why you start from 5%?

That's what the phone was at at the time I thought about doing it.
it's probably an 8%-10% increase per 5mins for the first 15mins for the Turbo Charger.
i'll do another this weekend.

Hey can you update it again as mine is taking 90-100 mins to chagre with the tubro charger itself.
Thanks

How hot does the battery get when you are turbo charging it? IIRC, hotter batteries = shorter battery life overall.

what happen to 15 min 60% charge lol.
my battery gets pretty hot/warm when charging.

I think it was 6 hours of usage (overall, not 6 hours of gaming) in 15 min. And with my battery lasting 36+ hours, that 23% would def get me 6 hours.

yours is about the same. mine charged in 93mins w/ the Turbo Charger. I dont think 3-7 mins is that much of a difference.
Now that I've added a few more apps tho, it might be a lil more. I'll try time it again.

Also tried an Anker 60W 6port USB charger.
It has Power IQ where it's supposed to adjust charging power to what the device requires. I think it's supposed to max out between 2a - 2.4a
Well, from completely drained out battery, it took a full 3hrs to fully charge the device.
If you want your device charged fast, don't get this charger.
If you have time to wait and a lot of devices to charge all at once and like to travel, get this device.

Has anyone monitored the voltage/current output of their turbo charger? I cannot get to the "turbo 2" output (12 V, 1.2 A) listed on the charger. Even from 4% battery, I max out ~ 9 V, 1.5 A, which is listed as "turbo 1". In my test today, charging was pretty constant around 1.3% per minute up to 60%, then dropped off as expected. Some more data: starting at 4%, here are the total times (in minutes) to critical percentages.

I haven't seen it use the 12V output yet. Its not s large difference 13.5 W for turbo and 14.4 W for 12V. I wonder how much faster it would charge and if it's a software or hardware limitation

What app r u using to see the current output?? Ill check mine too

I personally found that the stock cable that comes with the phone doesn't allow for that much voltage/amperage to pass through it. I do have another cable at home that is thicker and it charges it a whole lot faster. I will try and get the data for it.

So what's the best cable and wall plug for fastest charging?

18 watts?
I am getting similar results as the OP. It works out to about 2400maH, which is about 75% charge in one hour. This is theoretically about the same as you would get from a 5v 2.4A (12w) amp non-turbo charger, which I have achieved with my "Note 3" 2.4A standard charger. One would think the turbo charger would charge about 50% faster on the Nexus 6 either at 9v 2A, or 12v 1.5A, which is 18w, which I haven't heard of anyone achieving.

For some reason, I don't trust those turbo chargers. I think I'll stay with a regular 2.1A charger. It doesn't charge real fast, but I have time and it may be safer for the battery.

This is the charging characteristic of lithium ion battery. Current will be lower as it is near to full capacity. You can Google for it.
I fix this problem by drain batt to 10% and charge to Full by Docking. Now it come in to normal (Stand by around 2 days.)

Turbo Charger

Anyone have concerns about using the turbo charger?
It works great. Took a shower while charging and went from 14% to around 70%. It does however get pretty warm which I worry could adversely affect the lifespan of the battery.

Wow, how long was your shower? I went from 0% to about 15% in 15 minutes. Mine also got pretty warm, but assuming the battery does last for 48 hrs, 15% should last just under 8 hrs. We'll see how it works though.
Haha anyone look at the specs on the charger?
My old peepers need a magnifying glass but I noticed three modes with different voltages.
It goes up to 12V out at 1.2A
I don't think I will be putting this on another device. If the switcher gets confused and applies 12V to a standard 5V USB device, something very bad will most likely happen!

I noticed the phone getting a little warm while on the turbo charger as well. Also, found out last night that it does not matter what cable you use, it still does a turbo charge with any cable. Last thing I found out was that the turbo charger will turbo charge a note 4 as well and the samsung advanced charger (their version of the turbo charge) will turbo charge my phone too.

How long is it taking everyone for a full charge? Also last it went from 1% - %25 took about 30min is that normal for Turbo?
Can't put it down to charge! I'm letting it gain about ten percentage points before I unplug and play.
It does cool down rather fast.
The nylon isn't as grippy as I first thought, wasn't planning on a case but it might be in the cards, too bad because the turbo is really sexy naked!

Mine took 1 hour 55 minutes to go from 22% to 100%, with a few screen wakes in there for a couple texts that came in. It went from 22% to 44% in about 20 minutes. Mine got pretty warm, but once it hit ~75% it started cooling down, and the charge rate dropped, as it should.
In terms of being worried, a faster charge time from higher voltage is actually good for a lithium battery. The extra volts allows the charge to penetrate deeper, quicker, and more completely saturate the entire battery cell. Will this generate increased heat? Yes, of course. But the battery is going to have a thermal shut off built in to it that prevents any damage from occurring, and in general our idea of 'hot' is far bellow the batteries' idea of 'hot'.
Not too wooried
I have been charging my Droid Razr Maxx since I got it with the ASUS charger for my Nexus 7. It made a big difference in charging times for me. Before purchasing the Turbo, my battery life was still lasting 2 to 3 days with normal use. I doubt this technology is causing the battery to degrade at a fast enough rate for any of us to notice.
Looking at the turbo charger, it's not simply a high output charger like you get on some phones, such as the 2A chargers, but it outputs at almost double the voltage as well, 9V vs 5V.

Hah. I should clarify. My intent was to let it charge while I shower but I tend to get caught up watching youtube or looking at reddit before I shower. The total time on charger was 35-40 minutes.
Mine charges at about 1% per minute. I only got to charge it once though so maybe the battery needs to be calibrated or whatever.
Phone started at 50% when I purchased it. Ran with HEAVY usage until about 7:30. Put it on charger with 4% battery remaining. At ~9:15 it was fully charged. More heavy usage until ~Midnight, battery was at 60%. Woke up with 55%, drained it to 43%, threw it on charge for ~20 minutes and it was at 67%. Low usage since, and its at 60%. So theres that.

What time keep your s7e to full rechange battery?

Hi all,
one 1week with S7E. My battery is incredible: often I put off S7E from recharge at 8am, at 10.30/11pm I've 15/25% of battery.
But... when I recharge it, it keeps almost 4/5 hours before full battery recharged (!). I use standard power supply wired 2A.
Is it normal?
What time keep your S7E to full recharge battery?
thanks!
Mine is around 2.5hrs when not in fast charging. I am using the default charger.

Mine takes 1hr 57mins on stock charger (fast charge) 2hr 25mins on normal charge and 5hrs 45 min on my over night charger. Not sure of output but just a USB port on my clock radio

Galaxy S7 Edge Fast charging too slow

Hi everyone,
I have a galaxy s7 edge and i think that i have a problem with the fast charging feature, but i am not sure so i wanted to ask here.
As i know the phone supports fast charge 2.0 which should charge from 0-60% in 30 minutes. The phone charges fast, and it says that it uses fast charge, but it is just half the speed, normaly it charges 1% per minute, so that means it takes 60 minutes for 60%. Is that normal or should it charge faster, and if it should charge faster, what could be the issue, i am ussing the original charger which came with the phone.
I wondered that also. It takes close to 1 1/2 hours for be to charge. 0-60 never gets done in 30 minutes for me.
Do you keep turning on the screen to check progress? Quick Charge doesn't work while the screen is on.

Hello,
No, it does not matter, even if i do not touch the phone while it is charging it never gets the speed as it is advertised, only half of the speed. Does the always on matter in this point, because i have it enabled?
I think the 3600 mAh battery has something to do with it. It's a big battery. Those stats are likely for a smaller capacity battery.

How long does it take you to charge from 0-100 without touching the phone? It should take around 1.5 hours.

That's a good question. I don't know. Turn it off next time you charge and see if it makes a difference.
My note 5 used to charge from 2-100 in 70 minutes. The s7 edge takes 30 minutes more for me. Guessing it's the battery. Also, if you're using the phone and fast charging is on, it'll charge slower than if you were to turn off fast charging. Meaning, if you're using your phone and charging it, better off turning off fast charging since the regular charging will charge it faster while using the phone

Hi.
I one (only once) noticed that my S7E didn't charge well even though plugged in to original charger and cable. Somehow the cable wasn't connected tight on the charger side. This was causing the problem of showing fast charging on the display but slow charging actually.
Atm I'm charging and monitored the progress:
start charging at 1 %
10 min 15 %
20 min 27 %
30 min 37 %
41 Min 50 %
1h 8 min 80 %
1h 40 min 100 %
Fast charger works fine with charger you get phone. Fast wireless charger doesn't work as fast for me. If you leave the phone alone, honestly it does charge fast

Also same in my case.
Tried mine yesterday and took about 1 hour, 35 mins from 0 to 100%
My s7 edge (though using s6 active fast charger), showed 42% at start of fast charge.. after 30 minutes it had only gone to 51% or about 9% gain.. not normal.. i tried the same test with an s6 active and it gained about 15% or more in 15 minutes (not 30).
Still trying to rule out the charger, but i noticed this same slowness last nite on the native s7 edge charger.. so i dont think its the charger..
edit: after wiping system partition cache.. 16 minute test i jumped 8% .. i guess this is more normalish though still a tad low.
I would like to verify the same as some users explained.
Fast charge does charge quick in my phone, maybe not as quick as expected.
But i normally leave fast charge disabled, heavy user and dislike picking the device in when its warm.
I was about to pop out, device had like 5-10% battery.
Plugged it in and it said 2 hours to charge.
Unplugged, Enabled fast charge, time went to 1 hour 25 minutes.
So it chopped around 30 minutes off the charging time.
hi, I don't know if this's the place, but I am on stock firmware for s7 (g930f) and it charges really slow (like 4 hours to full charge), does anybody know why? (original charger)

Ampere during charging of Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1

On my Huawei P Smart I tried to install Ampere to check the mA during charging. With the original charger the app marked me max 870 mA. It seemed strange, because the charger is 2A and because with 1000 mA during charging it would take 3 hours to charge the 3000 mAh battery, and the smartphone takes less (not so much less in fact).
Disappointed by the app, I tried to make a partial charge from 24% to 91% (with another non-original 2A charger) in 1h 56m 30s. 67% charge = 2010 mAh in 1,94 hours, so 2010 / 1,94 = 1036 mA during the charge.
I specify that during charging the phone was on (not in use). Do you think that is right? It is not a little slow? Do you have a feedback to give me about?
(Sorry for my English not so good)
